• JTable Delete All Rows Exception

  Hi, I'm trying to delete all entrys from my abstractTableModel. As long as I don't delete the last remaining row, everything works fine, but as soon as I delete this one, I get an ArrayOutOfBoundsException. I'm using a DefaultRowSorter and this seems to be the Exception. • Where can I find free and open data?

  Sooner or later, coders will feel the need to have access to "open data" in one of their projects, from knowing a city's zip to a more obscure information such as the axial tilt of Pluto. I know data.un.org which offers access to the UN's extensive array of databases that deal with human development and other socio-economic issues. The other usual suspects are NASA and the USGS for planetary data. There's an article at readwriteweb with more links. infochimps.org seems to stand out. Personally, I need to find historic commodity prices, stock values and other financial data. All these data sets seem to cost money however. Clarification To clarify, I'm interested in all kinds of open data, because sooner or later, I know I will be in a situation where I could need it. I will try to edit this answer and include the suggestions in a structured manners. A link for financial data was hidden in that readwriteweb article, doh! It's called opentick.com. Looks good so far! Update I stumbled over semantic data in another question of mine on here. There is opencyc ('the world's largest and most complete general knowledge base and commonsense reasoning engine'). A project called UMBEL provides a light-weight, distilled version of opencyc. Umbel has semantic data in rdf/owl/skos n3 syntax. The Worldbank also released a very nice API. It offers data from the last 50 years for about 200 countries

• Using JSON with jRails

  I am currently trying to use AJAX in my application via jRails. I am trying to return a JSON object from my controller, and then parse it in my Javascript. I am using json2.js to do the parsing.   I have a UITableView containing names that I would like to group (and sort) by the first letter (similar to the Address Book application). • Wordpress and Anythingslider Navigation Thumbnails

  So I am using AnythingSlider in Wordpress. This is why I am trying to call the thumbnails from the original posts. • Passing char * into fopen with C.

  Hey there, I'm writing a program that passes data from a file into an array, but I'm having trouble with fopen (). It seems to work fine when I hardcode the file path into the parameters (eg fopen ("data/1.dat", "r");) but when I pass it as a pointer, it returns NULL. • SimpleXML - "Node no longer exists"

  Hi I'm trying to get the video data from this youtube playlist feed and add the interesting data to an array and use that later, but as you can see from the feed some videolinks are "dead" and that results in problems for my code. The error I get is "Node no longer exists" when I try to access $attrs['url']. I've tried for hours to find a way to check if the node exists before I access it but I have no luck. If anyone could help me to either parse the feed some other way with the same result or create a if-node-exists check that works I would be most happy.   I am building a CAD-file converter on top of two libraries (Opencascade and DWF Toolkit). However, my question is plattform agnostic: Given: I have generated a mesh as a list of triangular faces form a model constructed through my application. Each Triangle is defined through three vertexes, which consist of three floats (x, y & z coordinate). Since the triangles form a mesh, most of the vertices are shared by more then one triangle. Goal: I need to find the list of unique vertices, and to generate an array of faces consisting of tuples of three indices in this list. What i want to do is this: //step 1: build a list of unique vertices for each triangle for each vertex in triangle if not vertex in listOfVertices Add vertex to listOfVertices //step 2: build a list of faces for each triangle for each vertex in triangle Get Vertex Index From listOfvertices AddToMap(vertex Index, triangle) While I do have an implementation which does this, step1 (the generation of the list of unique vertices) is really slow in the order of O(n!), since each vertex is compared to all vertices already in the list. I thought "Hey, lets build a hashmap of my vertices' components using std::map, that ought to speed things up!", only to find that generating a unique key from three floating point values is not a trivial task. Here, the experts of stackoverflow come into play: I need some kind of hash-function which works on 3 floats, or any other function generating a unique value from a 3d-vertex position.

• Looped jQuery slideshow with smooth cross-fades

  I'm trying to do a simple rotating image on the home page. Under the hood I'm reading a directory and then populating urls for the images into an array. What I want to do is cross-fade the images. If it was just a matter of showing the next one, it's easy, but since I need to cross-fade, it's a bit harder. I think what I want to do is do the fades by calling animate() on the opacity value of the <img> tag, and in between swapping out the css background-image property of the enclosing <div>. But the results are not that great. I've used tools for more full featured slideshows, but I don't want the overhead of adding a plugin if I can avoid it, and a simple crossfade seems like it should be easier. • rails search nested set (categories and sub categories)

  Hello, I am using the http://github.com/collectiveidea/awesome_nested_set awesome nested set plugin and currently, if I choose a sub category as my category_id for an item, I can not search by its parent. Category.parent Category.Child I choose Category.child as the category that my item is in. So now my item has category_id of 4 stored in it. If I go to a page in my rails application, lets say teh Category page and I am on the Category.parent's page, I want to show products that have category_id's of all the descendants as well. So ideally i want to have a find method that can take into account the descendants. You can get the descendants of a root by calling root.descendants (a built in plugin method). How would I go about making it so I can query a find that gets the descendants of a root instead of what its doing now which is binging up nothing unless the product had a specific category_id of the Category.parent. I hope I am being clear here. I either need to figure out a way to create a find method or named_scope that can query and return an array of objects that have id's corresponding tot he descendants of a root OR if I have any other options, what are they? I thought about creating a field in my products table like parent_id which can keep track of the parent so i can then create two named scopes one finding the parent stuff and one finding the child stuff and chaining them. I know I can create a named scope for each child and chain them together for multiple children but this seems a very tedious process and also, if you add more children, you would need to specify more named scopes.

• Soft Paint Bucket Fill: Colour Equality

  I'm making a small app where children can fill preset illustrations with colours. I've succesfully implemented an MS-paint style paint bucket using the flood fill argorithm. However, near the edges of image elements pixels are left unfilled, because the lines are anti-aliased. This is because the current condition on whether to fill is colourAtCurrentPixel == colourToReplace (the colours are RGB uints) I'd like to add a smoothing/treshold option like in Photoshop and other sophisticated tools, but what's the algorithm to determine the equality/distance between two colours? if (match(pixel(x,y), colourToReplace) setpixel(x,y,colourToReplaceWith) How to fill in match()?   Hello All, I have been trying hard for the last 5 hours or so to get the facebook users' birthday through facebook connect but I have not managed to do so. The same code worked previously and still works on other sites made earlier (old ones) but does not seem to work again. • Can't send client certificate via SslStream

  I am doing an SSL3 handshake using an SslStream, but, in spite of my best efforts, the SslStream never sends a client certificate on my behalf. Here is the code: SSLConnection = new System.Net.Security.SslStream(SSLInOutStream, false, new System.Net.Security.RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(AlwaysValidRemoteCertificate), new System.Net.Security.LocalCertificateSelectionCallback(ChooseLocalCertificate)); X509CertificateCollection CC = new X509CertificateCollection(); CC.Add(Org.BouncyCastle.Security.DotNetUtilities.ToX509Certificate(MyLocalCertificate)); SSLConnection.AuthenticateAsClient("test", CC, System.Security.Authentication.SslProtocols.Ssl3, false); and then I have AlwaysValidRemoteCertificate just returning true, and ChooseLocalCertificate returning the zeroth element of the array. The code probably looks a little weird because the project is a little weird, but I think that is beside the point here. The SSL handshake completes. The issue is that instead of sending a certificate message on my behalf (in the handshake process), with the ASN.1 encoded certificate (MyLocalCertificate), the SslStream sends an SSL alert number 41 (no certificate) and then carries on. I know this from packet sniffing. After the handshake is completed, the SslStream marks IsAuthenticated as true, IsMutuallyAuthenticated as false, and its LocalCertificate member is null. I feel like I'm probably missing something pretty obvious here, so any ideas would be appreciated. I am a novice with SSL, and this project is off the beaten path, so I am kind of at a loss. P.S. 1: My ChooseLocalCertificate routine is called twice during the handshake, and returns a valid (as far as I can tell), non-null certificate both times. P.S. 2: SSLInOutStream is my own class, not a NetworkStream. Like I said, though, the handshake proceeds mostly normally, so I doubt this is the culprit... but who knows?

• Bind members of different classes

  In a C++ program I have two classes (structs) like struct A { int x; double y; // other members }; struct B { int x; double y2; // other members }; I'd like to somehow "bind" the corresponding members, e.g. A::x to B::x and A::y to B::y2. By "bind" I mean ability to obtain a reference to the bound variable, for example given a member of class A I could assign it to the value of the corresponding B member. Once I have such bind, I'd like to build a bind table or something similar which I could iterate over. This would allow, for example, copying the corresponding fields from A a; to B b; like CopyBound(a, b, bind_table);, but probably also doing some other things not limited to Copy interface. The problem with this bind_table is that I want static typing and the bind_table would have to contain different types in this case. For example, a table of pointers to class members would contain &A::x and &A::y, but they are of different type, so I cannot just put them say into an array. Any ideas how this can be conveniently implemented, having as much compile-time type checking as possible?

• Compare new Integer Objects in ArrayList Question

  I am storing Integer objects representing an index of objects I want to track. Later in my code I want to check to see if a particular object's index corresponds to one of those Integers I stored earlier. I am doing this by creating an ArrayList and creating a new Integer from the index of a for loop: ArrayList<Integer> courseselectItems = new ArrayList(); //Find the course elements that are within a courseselect element and add their indicies to the ArrayList for(int i=0; i<numberElementsInNodeList; i++) { if (nodeList.item(i).getParentNode().getNodeName().equals("courseselect")) { courseselectItems.add(new Integer(i)); } } I then want to check later if the ArrayList contains a particular index: //Cycle through the namedNodeMap array to find each of the course codes for(int i=0; i<numberElementsInNodeList; i++) { if(!courseselectItems.contains(new Integer(i))) { //Do Stuff } } My question is, when I create a new Integer by using new Integer(i) will I be able to compare integers using ArrayList.contains()? That is to say, when I create a new object using new Integer(i), will that be the same as the previously created Integer object if the int value used to create them are the same?   Hello, could someone please help me to understand how collision detection works in JS? I can't use jQuery or gameQuery - already using prototype - so, I'm looking for something very simple. Not asking for complete solution, just point me to the right direction. Let's say there's: <div id="ball"></div> and <div id="someobject0"></div> Now the ball is moving (any direction). "Someobject"(0-X) is already pre-defined and there's 20-60 of them randomly positioned like this: #someobject {position: absolute; top: RNDpx; left: RNDpx;} I can create an array with "someobject(X)" positions and test collision while the "ball" is moving... Something like: for(var c=0; c<objposArray.length; c++){ ........ and code to check ball's current position vs all objects one by one.... } But I guess this would be a "noob" solution and it looks pretty slow. Is there anything better?
