  • How to organize makefiles / solutions etc. in multiplatform projects?

    I have a project which can be compiled with Visual Studio, GCC and with some embedded compilers. Sources are shared, but each platform requires separate makefiles, project files, solutions etc. There are two ways I can organize them: Intermixed in a single hierarchy of folders With separate folders for platform-dependent files The first solution creates some confusion about which file belongs to which platform, but the second causes some repetition of the folders structure (some compilers require each project to have a separate folder). Which do you think is better?

  • Where in an Eclipse workspace is the list of projects stored?

    I use eclipse with "external" projects - i.e. projects created from existing source. Poking around in the workspace files, I cannot find any reference to these projects. My question is: how does eclipse keep track of these projects? I'd like to be able to add such a project to the workspace automatically (by generating .project and .classpath files)..

    I have a bunch of (50+) XML files in a directory that I would like to insert into a SQL server 2008 table. How can I create a SQL script from the command prompt or Powershell that will let me insert the files into a simple table with the following schema: XMLDataFiles ( xmlFileName varchar(255) , content xml ) All I need is for something to generate a script with a bunch of insert statements. Right now, I'm contemplating writing a silly little .NET console app to write the SQL script. Thanks.

  • How can I get "Copy to Output Directory" to work with Unit Tests?

    When I build a unit test project before the tests are executed the test output is copied to a TestResults folder and then the tests are executed. The issue I'm having is that not all the files in the Debug/bin directory are copied to the TestResults project. How can I get a file that is copied to the Debug/bin directory to also be copied to the TestResults folder?   • How to generate HHP file from CHM file

    Hi, When I decompile my CHM file use microsoft html help workshop. It generates HHC,HHK and bunch of HTML files but no HHP file. When I create an HHP file using new project option and then compile it to create another CHM file. Now these two CMH files are not of same size and they behave differently. Am I missing something here? I am simply decompiling and re-compiling the same CHM file but the result is different.

  • Easy way to convert and copy a solution to VS 2010

    We have a VS2005 solution and I want to convert it to VS2010. I figured an easy way to keep the old solution around (for other developers) is to create new sln and proj files specific to 2010. I hoped that the conversion wizard would do this easily but it doesn't seem to. Anyone know an easy way to copy all .sln and .csproj files, then convert to VS2010?

I understand that the iphone doesnt natively support flv playback but isnt there anything I can do to get around this problem?     Is there a simple way to recursively find all files in a directory hierarchy, that do not end in a list of extensions? E.g. all files that are not *.dll or *.exe UNIX/GNU find, powerful as it is, doesn't seem to have an exclude mode (or I'm missing it), and I've always found it hard to use regular expressions to find things that don't match a particular expression. I'm in a Windows environment (using the GnuWin32 port of most GNU tools), so I'm equally open for Windows-only solutions.

    I have an Xcode project that contains many sub-projects. The main project file and all sub-projects have the same xcconfig file. Some of the sub-projects currently have a build rule set on them to use the Intel compiler for C++ files. I'm wondering if there is a way to move this build rule into the xcconfig file so that I can easily turn on or off the Intel compiler for C++ files by changing just the one xcconfig file instead of having to modify the build rule for each sub-project

  • Why do techs recommend YUM installs yet repositories and providers are ages behind?

    I have been reading page after page after page about the benefits of using YUM package installer and how NOBODY should built installs from source files (which again makes no sense to me) yet the repositories and source builders always package files in Tarball format, leaving a TON of work (which usually ends up going wrong) to the individual instead of formatting SRPMs for the end user. Has the world gone mad? I feel like I am taking crazy pills!

    Hi, I am working with a fileReference, however I'm having issues running on Safari on a MAC... Event.COMPLETE is fired when the file data is available to flash. If I select an 500meg file, it takes a few seconds before Event.COMPLETE is fired. If I attempt to access the file data properties (such as reading the data stream) before Event.COMPLETE is fired, I receive null reference errors... So far so good. However, on a MAC (speficially Safari, not tested other browsers), the Event.COMPLETE is not fired. I have checked the Adobe docs, which say Event.COMPLETE is fired when the upload is completed. So why does it get fired on windows when the fileReference has parsed the file, but the upload method has not yet been called... Can anyone help?     Hello, I'm writing a customized reflective library for some specialized custom domain logic, and that library is going to use XML configuration files that will dynamically resolve System.Type objects at runtime. However, when writing the XML configuration files, it's a bit of a pain to write the types because they need to be fully qualified assembly names for Type.GetType() to resolve them. Is there a way to find out the AssemblyQualifiedName of an object in Visual Studio without resorting to writing a program to print them out to a file or standard out or anything like that ?

    I have a JFrame that accepts top-level drops of files. However after a drop has occurred, references to the frame are held indefinitely inside some Swing internal classes. I believe that disposing of the frame should release all of its resources, so what am I doing wrong? Close the frame so it's disposed of. To verify the leak I take a heap dump using JConsole and analyse it with the Eclipse Memory Analysis tool. It shows that sun.awt.AppContext is holding a reference to the frame through its hashmap. It looks like TransferSupport is at fault. What am I doing wrong? Should I be asking the DnD support code to clean itself up somehow? I'm running JDK 1.6 update 19.
