  Hi In SQL Server 2008: I have two tables, dtlScheme and dtlRenewal, with a one to many relationship (one scheme can have many renewals). dtlRenewal has a unique key (dteEffectiveDate, dtlSchemeID). Now suppose I have the following data in dtlRenewal: dtlRenewalID dtlSchemeID dteEffectiveDate 1 1 1/1/2005 2 1 1/1/2006 3 1 1/1/2007 4 1 1/1/2008 5 1 1/1/2009 I would like to find for each renewal the next and previous effective date for the scheme. • Missing Menu Bar in Visual Studio 2010

  When I opened up Visual Studio 2010 this morning, my Menu Bar (you know, the bar with File, Edit, etc. on it) was missing. I've tried all of the right-click menus, customize options, Function keys and Google searches that I can think of but to no avail. This is exactly the kind of humiliation that brings sobriety to my ever-growing ego as a developer. I'm actually posting this on StackOverflow.com for the world to see. Next, I will be just as humiliated when someone replies to this and tells me precisely how simple it is and how ignorant that I am for not knowing the simple key combination or finding it on Google. What I want to do is to filter a listbox which is populated by over 3000 records from the database upon typing. It should not only filter the listbox with the starting letters but also the group of characters which could be found in between each item on the list. The list is a list of Item Name as a value and an Item Code as the key.

• Always handle the PreviewKeyDown event in a base form

  We need to handle this event in the base form, regardless of which controls currently have focus. We have a couple of global key commands that need to work regardless of control focus. This works by handling the PreviewKeyDown event in the form normally. When we add a user control to the form, the event no longer fires. Am I missing something trivial here?   Hi guys. I have this little question, thats been on my head for while now. Here it goes: Is it possible to temporary disable the Auto_Increment on the collum ID. So that i can add a new row to the table and being able specify the ID value when inserting the row. And then in the end enable the Auto_Increment again, and let do its work as usual? And if its possible how can i do it. The Table structure is very simple Collum Name (atributes) ID (Primary Key, Auto Increment, int, not null) Name (nvarchar(100), not null) Notice: The table name is: People. Lets also consider that the table already has data and cannot be changed. The database server is SQL Server CE. The SQL commands will be executed in a C# program, if its of any help.   Hi ! I have a problem which I dont have a clue how to work around. Maybe anyone of you could help me to the correct directions... Simple I have a UITableView with each cell containing a UITextField. When I´m editing a cell (UITextField) and hit Return Key, a new row is inserted under the current cell. After that I reloadData on the TableView, the new row is showed. Everything is OK here. Now to my problem, I want to [UITextField becomeFirstResponder] on the newest added row. But I could not find anyway to accomplish this. I could post code but didn't find that necessary. Cheers.

• Populate a combo box with one data tabel and save the choice in another.

  I have two data tables in a data set for example lets say Servers: | Server | Ip | Users: | Username | Password | Server | and there is a foreign key on users that points to servers. How do I make a combo box that list all of the servers. Then how do I make the selected server in that combo box be saved in the data set in the Server column of the users table. • Visual Studio 2008 - App_webreferences and dynamic urls

  When you add a web service reference in VS 2008 Web site project, you get a new folder in App_webreferences. This contains a disco,wsdl and discomap file. Additionally, you get a key/value pair in the web.config which contains the endpoint URL. Within the disco,wsdl and discomap files, the URL is strewn about leaving many places to change the url as we move from dev/test/stage/production. Why is it that when I change the URL in the web.config and perform an update on the web reference, the old URL remains in all three of those files? Why does it not get updated? Has anyone figured out how to manage this? Any insight is appreciated.

• Issue with WIC image resizing on ASP.NET MVC 2

  I am attempting to implement image resizing on user uploads in ASP.NET MVC 2 using a version of the method found: here on asp.net. This works great on my dev machine, but as soon as I put it on my production machine, I start getting the error 'Exception from HRESULT: 0x88982F60' which is supposed to mean that there is an issue decoding the image. However, when I use WICExplorer to open the image, it looks ok. I've also tried this with dozens of images of various sources and still get the error (though possible, I doubt all of them are corrupted). • How to optimize simple linked server select query?

  Hello, I have a table called Table with columns: ID (int, primary key, clustered, unique index) TEXT (varchar 15) on a MSSQL linked server called LS. Linked server is on the same server computer. And: When I call: SELECT ID, TEXT FROM OPENQUERY(LS, 'SELECT ID, TEXT FROM Table') It takes 400 ms. When I call: SELECT ID, TEXT FROM LS.dbo.Table It takes 200 ms And when I call the query directly while being at LS server: SELECT ID, TEXT FROM dbo.Table It takes 100 ms. In many places i've read that OPENQUERY is faster, but in this simple case it does not seem to work. What can I do to make this query faster when I call it from another server, not LS directly?

Anyone know which it is? (For the record, I'm running SL 4.0 on VS 2010 RC, which may be contributing to the problem).

You've successfully authenticated, but GitHub does not provide shell access. Connection to github.com closed But when I go to clone my repo it fails saying: Permission denied (publickey). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly I've used Github a lot, but this is my first use of it from an Ubuntu computer, is there something I am missing here?   I am trying to implement FTP over SSL to upload encrypted files. I've created a SSL certificate and send it to the vendor. But I couldn't make a FTPS connection to the server. When connecting via FTPS, I'm authenticating using my private key file. I have tried .NET FTPWebRequest, SmartFTp,CuteFTP Pro. I am getting the following error:- A call to SSPI failed.   Hi, I've been messing around with autoNumeric, a plug-in for jQuery that formats currency fields. I'd like to wire the plug-in so that all currency fields are formatted by the time the user sees the page, e.g., on load. Currently, the default that I can't seem to get around is that fields are formatted upon blur, key-up or other action in the fields themselves. I've been experimenting with the plug-in code and it looks like it will take this relative newcomer some time to resolve this, if at all. Anybody on this? Lille

  I am pulling data down from a webservice and it is formated as JSON. I am writing a google apps script for google spreadsheet that will populate the data form me. my problem is, I can't seem to get it to parse out. doing: var dataset = myJSONtext; Browser.msgbox(dataset.item[0].key); errors out, saying item[0] is not defined. Is there some built in way I should be doing this? Any help would be apreciated.

• Sparse matrices / arrays in Java

  I'm working on a project, written in Java, which requires that I build a very large 2-D sparse array. Very sparse, if that makes a difference. Anyway: the most crucial aspect for this application is efficency in terms of time (assume loads of memory, though not nearly so unlimited as to allow me to use a standard 2-D array -- the key range is in the billions in both dimensions). Out of the kajillion cells in the array, there will be several hundred thousand cells which contain an object. I need to be able to modify cell contents VERY quickly. Anyway: Does anyone know a particularly good library for this purpose? It would have to be Berkeley, LGPL or similar license (no GPL, as the product can't be entirely open-sourced). Or if there's just a very simple way to make a homebrew sparse array object, that'd be fine too. I'm considering MTJ, but haven't heard any opinions on its quality. Thanks!! -Dan

  Okay, .NET geniuses, here's the relevant part of my code: adapter.Fill(table); return; } catch(Exception ex) { SqlException sqlEx = ex as SqlException; I have an exception that's being thrown by adapter.Fill(), and when I put a breakpoint on the first line in the exception handler, the Exception.Data property already contains a key that is unique to my application. The thing is that it does not happen every time, but only when this exception is thrown within ~2 seconds of it last being thrown. Explain that!! :) Thanks!

For example, I want to create some typeAlias elements in a file called "unity.config": <typeAlias alias="QueryService" type="type,QueryAssembly"/> So, I created a live template: Shortcut: typeAlias Available "in all files" <typeAlias alias="$ALIAS$" type="$TYPE$,$ASSEMBLY$"/> the unity.config file is an XML file. I put the cursor in an empty spot and type "typeAlias" and then the tab key. Nothing happens. Any ideas?

• Reverse engineering to get answers

  So I've spent the last few days looking for a way to create a simple image drawing app with wxPython, and I think the key to doing just that is understanding how to use Device Contexts. The problem is that the wxPython demo program doesn't demonstrate DCs, and the docs for both wxPython and wxWidgets don't explain as much as I'd like to know so I've decided to try and 'reverse engineer' an existing app to see how its done. The first problem I have is that I don't know of any drawing apps written in wxPython (or any written in Python for that matter o.o), and the second is I don't know how I'd go about doing it. Am I right in saying that I'm going to need a copy of an application's Python source and something like Winpdb? What do professional programmers do when they find themselves in a situation like mine, needing answers that the docs don't provide?
