• Question about Jboss deployment

  Hi All, I am new to Jboss and deployment of web applications etc. I have two different war files deployed on the same Jboss server. Further they also share some classes which read different properties based on the application settings (Let's call a common class as CommonClass.class which is present in App1.war and App2.war; CommonClass has a member "FIELD1", so both these war files have CommonClass.class each of which reads different properties, into CommonClass.FIELD1). But during run-time when I access FIELD1 in one application (App2.war-CommonClass.FIELD1) it has the value from another application (App1.war-CommonClass.FIELD1). Is there any way I can explicitly specify so that JBoss treats these classes and fields to be different? so that both these classes can exist in memory yet hold their respective correct values? • C# SerialPort.GetPortNames() behavior

  In my C# 2008 application, I use the SerialPort.GetPortNames() function to retrieve the list of currently available ports. What I have noticed is, when ever I plug in a USB device, it's port number i s shown in the list on my Application and when I unplug it and refresh the list, the port number is no longer there. One phase of the application involves reading/writing data from/to the device continuously. Now, my expectation is, If I unplug the device during the operation and get the current Port list using SerialPort.GetPortNames(), the Port Name will not be there and I can use that to make the decision that the device has been unplugged. To my surprise, the Port name is still found despite having it removed Why is the program behaving like this? The port name isn't listed when in no-communication mode. Does it have something to do with the device being removed when it's communicating?

• Web service creates stack overflow

  I have an application that when executed as a windows application works fine, but when converted to a web service, in some instances (which were tested successfully) by the windows app) creates a stack overflow. Do you have an idea of what can cause this? (Note that it works fine when the web service is placed on the localhost). Could it be that the stack size of a Web Service is smaller than that of a Window Application? • Setting subdomain on Localhost?

  I'm trying to test a multi-tenant MVC application (in VS2012) locally by setting a subdomain on localhost. The application is currently running on localhost:5252. I want to access it via both that address, and contoso.localhost:5252. In my hosts file I added the following: 127.0.0.1 contoso.localhost I'm using IISExpress... when I navigate to contoso.localhost locally, I just get the IIS page. What am I doing wrong?

• Setting the default jsp view with spring mvc

  I want to set one of jsp files in my jsps folder as the default view for the application. Is there any way we can tell in that abc.jsp needs to be default and it can be found in such and such path. Also the url pattern is html so is there a way it can be mapped in Spring MVC. For example - When a user types www.example.com , I want the application to direct to abc.jsp page and also when someone types www.example.com/something, even then application should direct to abc.jsp, but the url pattern shouldnt be compromised. • Is there a web-based VNC client that I can use from my own web site? [closed]

  I'm interested in being able to control one of my computers remotely, without having to download and install a bunch of software on every machine I want to access my computer from. Is there a VNC client or RDP software that can be embedded in a web page? I realize this seems like it might be a web application based question, but the web application portion would only end up being one small portion of the whole solution. Would VNC really be the way to go for this?

• Apache fop-0.95 error on FopFactory.newInstance() command

  I am using Apache fop-0.95 to build pdf files from a JSP web application on IBM iSeries V5R4 using Websphere 6.0. Everything works perfect in my development using Websphere Development Studio client. When I put the application on the server, I get an error at this line. FopFactory fopFactory = FopFactory.newInstance(); The error is: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: javax/imageio/ImageIO Does anyone know how I can fix this error? All of the fop class files are part of the EAR file. The files were installed to the projects \WEB-INF\lib directory. I have added the fop jar files to the classpath, using the admin console. I am running IBM WebSphere Application Server - Express, 6.0.2.9 Build Number: cf90614.22 on IBM iSeries V5R4

• What is Silverlight's relationship -- if any -- to WPF?

  I was working with a WPF application and I decided that the controls and graphics I wanted to display on the grid might look better if it was a silverlight component. I thought this way because of all the cool silverlight controls that look very flash-like. But now that I have gottem my Visual Studio 2010 set up with SIlverlight, it seems that every silverlight app I can make are ASP.NET in nature. It seems that instead of a cool GUI control to make, Silverlight is telling me that it is primarely a dataflow sort of application for the web. What is the relationship, if any, between WPF and Silverlight. Can I or can I not put a silverlight control into my existing WPF application?

• Override tooltip text for Titlebar buttons (Close, Maximize, Minimize, Help)

  I have been trying without luck to change the text of the tooltip that appears for the buttons on the main title bar of a form. In a nutshell, we have harnessed the 'Help' button for Windows Forms to have some other purpose. This is working fine. The issue is that when hovering the mouse over that button, a 'Help' tooltip appears, which doesn't make any sense for the application. Ideally, there would be some way to change the text of that tooltip for my application; however, at this point I would be satisfied just finding a way to disable the tooltips altogether. I know that you can disable the tooltips for the entire OS by modifying the 'UserPreferencesMask' key in regedit, but I would really like a way to have this only affect my application. Again, ideally there would be some way to do this with managed code, but I would not be opposed to linking into the Windows API or the like. Thanks for any suggestions for resolving this issue!

• Windows Vista, Default Programs API, file format associations, and (un)installers - explosive mix!

  My application is a rather well behaved Windows citizen, so when I ported it to Windows Vista/7 I replaced my custom file format association code with support for the Default Programs API. However I ran into a problem when trying to make uninstaller for my application - there seems to be no way to remove file format associations via Default Programs API. I tried to call IApplicationAssociationRegistration::ClearUserAssociations but it actually removes all associations, including the ones for other applications - completely restoring default state of the OS (which is of course unacceptable). I tried to call IApplicationAssociationRegistration::SetAppAsDefault to return file format associations to the previous "owner" - but it does not help, because my application handles many unique file formats which the OS does not support and there is no previous "owners". And Windows does not allow to pass empty strings to SetAppAsDefault... So what do I do? Any good solutions?

  Since one of my scripts got incredibly complex, i was benchmarking the performance of moving some javascript processing logic to the server side in my ASP.NET MVC 4 application. According to taskmgr.exe, IIS Express only utilizes 13% of my i7. I decided to throw in 3 parallel tasks calculating the fibonacci sequence up to 50 and the IIS express still wouldn't utilize more than 13% of my cpu. Is there anything i can do, so that the application utilizes the full cpu, as it would in a real server ?

  Hi, I have a C#-application running on Windows 7. I am using Watin to test some flash and quicktime movies in Internet Explorer. I am running in x64 mode due to some memory limitations I encountered in x86-mode. So I run my application which uses Watin, which starts MSIE. Watin starts the 64-bit version of MSIE. So far so good. The problem is, flash and quicktime do not seem to work in MSIE 64-bit, so testing playing of movies will not work. What must be done to run my C# application in 64-bit mode but to get Watin to run MSIE in 32-bit mode?

• .NET Framework 4 RTM on Windows server 2008 R2

  I've just installed .NET 4 on Windows SErver 2008 R2 x64 and I am getting 500 Internal Server Error with an ASP.NET MVC application which was previously running fine on 3.5. The application was upgraded from targeting 3.5 to target 4 and I personally built it today on my development machine (changed in VS - Properties to .NET Framework 4). On the server I installed .NET Framework 4 Client profile and Full both automatically through the Web Platform Installer. ASP.NET MVC 2 was also installed through Platform Installer. I created a new .NET 4 application pool in IIS and placed the web app in it. Also I have custom errors turned Off in web.config but even so no detailed error is displayed - just the plain IIS 7.5 500 Internal Server Error. Any suggestions?

• VB Project Template for Monobjc in MonoDevelop?

  After installing Monobjc and playing around with the Monobjc Application Project under C# in MonoDevelop, I noticed that there is only an empty Monobjc project under the VB section. Obviously this template adds all the correct references but doesn't add the basic files for the application to run. I've tried creating a class with: Imports System Imports Monobjc Imports Monobjc.Cocoa Class Application Public Sub Main(Byval args() As String) ObjectiveCRuntime.LoadFramework("Cocoa") ObjectiveCRuntime.Initialize() End Sub End Class Obviously I'm not loading the NIB there either, as I haven't added that in either, but if I try to build this I get: /Source/VB_Sample/VB_Sample/<MyGenerator>(1,1): Error VBNC30420: Could not find a 'Sub Main' in ''. (VBNC30420) (VB_Sample) Where should I be putting the Sub Main? Also if I add in a xib file from IB, how do I generate the designer code for the partial AppDelegate class? Any help would be appreciated.

  I have been using UWSGI behind Nginx and I've set supervisord to restart the Nginx and UWSGI instances in case of a server reboot. I am debugging my application and sometimes need to reload the application. According to this page I should be sending SIGHUP in order to do a graceful reload. I could find a stopsignal config setting on this page, but I couldn't find any entry related to something like "reloadsignal" or "restartsignal". Any ideas?

• How to debug packet loss ?

  I wrote a C++ application (running on Linux) that serves an RTP stream of about 400 kbps. To most destinations this works fine, but some destinations expericence packet loss. The problematic destinations seem to have a slower connection in common, but it should be plenty fast enough for the stream I'm sending. Since these destinations are able to receive similar RTP streams for other applications without packet loss, my application might be at fault. I already verified a few things: - in a tcpdump, I see all RTP packets going out on the sending machine - there is a UDP send buffer in place (I tried sizes between 64KB and 300KB) - the RTP packets mostly stay below 1400 bytes to avoid fragmentation What can a sending application do to minimize the possibility of packet loss and what would be the best way to debug such a situation ?

  Hi, I have been working in Oracle iStore from past 4 months and i have been managing the application without any IDE (basically doing all the chores on notepad only because application has been designed poorly and no IDE can support it). Since the coding is done on simple notepad files it is very hard to find out the bugs in the application. I am facing a problem that i have not idea which jsp page redirect the control to which jsp page. For instance, there are two jsp pages A.jsp and other is B.jsp. Now the browser is currently displaying A.jsp. When the user click on submit button (available on A.jsp) the form submits and redirects the control to B.jsp. Now my problem is that i know i am coming on B.jsp but, i don't know that A.jsp is redirecting the control to B.jsp. Is there an method available in Servlet API which tells Which jsp is redirecting the control to B.jsp?   Hi, Recently I have joined a new project team where in the java application logs have logged messages in a non-formal way[can't think of suitable word]. here how they look :-) <message> for info messages :-| <message> for warn :-( <message> for error besides there's also ASCII art drawing , different one for each log when that particular service starts up or is killed .And there many more styles for certain application events. iam not sure if it has any significant overhead on the application or not.
