  • Microsoft JScript runtime error: 'ShowDatePicker' is undefined

    Working around an issue where my jquery datepicker does not display after postback within an update panel. The textbox (trigger) for the calendar is contained within a control, which is contained within an update panel. I found an article assisting with this issue, and it informed me to do the following Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Dim tScript As String = "$(function(){ Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_endRequest(ShowDatePicker); });" Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(Me.GetType(), "async_" & Me.txtAquisition.ClientID, tScript, True) Then on the ascx I have <script type="text/javascript"> function showDatePicker(sender, args) { var control = document.getElementById("<%=txtAquisition.ClientID %>") alert(control); $(control).each(function() { $(this).datepicker({ showOn: 'focus' }); }); } </script> but am getting an undefined error. Am I approaching this in the correct manner? Any other suggestions to ensure my datepicker remains usable within the update panel? Thinking this may be due to the fact that I have the controls nested within an update panel... several of them in fact. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

    Hi, ive been dealing with a kind of no error message my application is throwing after the setup has been installed on my machine. The application run fine and generate a report exactly the way i want it.   • serializing type definitions?

    I'm not positive I'm going about this the right way. I've got a suite of applications that have varying types of output (custom defined types). For example, I might have a type called Widget: Class Widget Public name as String End Class Throughout the course of operation, when a user experiences a certain condition, the application will take that output instance of widget that user received, serialize it, and log it to the database noting the name of the type. Now, I have other applications that do something similar, but instead of dealing with Widget, it could be some totally random other type with different attributes, but again I serialize the instance, log it to the db, and note the name of the type. I have maybe a half dozen different types and don't anticipate too many additional ones in the future. After all this is said and done, I have an admin interface that looks through these logs, and has the ability for the user to view the contents of this data thats been logged. The Admin app has a reference to all the types involved, and with some basic switch case logic hinged upon the name of the type, will cast it into their original types, and pass it on to some handlers that have basic display logic to spit the data back out in a readable format (one display handler for each type) NOW... all this is well and good... Until one day, my model changed. The Widget class now has deprecated the name attribute and added on a bunch of other attributes. I will of course get type mismatches in the admin side when I try to reconstitute this data. I was wondering if there was some way, at runtime, i could perhaps reflect through my code and get a snapshot of the type definition at that precise moment, serialize it, and store it along with the data so that I could somehow use this to reconstitute it in the future?

  • Get ListView Visible items

    I have a ListView which might contains a lot of items, so it is virtualized and recycling items. It does not use sort. I need to refresh some value display, but when there are too many items, it is too slow to update everything, so I would like to refresh only the visible items. How could I get a list of all currently displayed items ? I tried to look into the ListView or in the ScrollViewer, but I still have no idea how to achieve this. The solution must NOT go through all items to test if they can be seen, because this would be too slow. I'm not sure code or xaml would be usefull, it is just a Virtualized/Recycling ListView with its ItemSource bound to an Array. Edit Answer : thanks to akjoshi, i found the way : get the ScrollViewer of the ListView (with a FindDescendant method, that you can do yourself with the VisualTreeHelper ). Then use its ScrollViewer.VerticalOffset : it is the number of the first item shown and ScrollViewer.ViewportHeight : it is the count of items shown. Rq : CanContentScroll must be true.

Everything will be same except the new values will have numeric part = 0. Take example I have this exsiting CSV string 1 , abc.txt , 2 , def.doc , 3 , flyaway.txt Now by some mechanism i added two more files Superman.txt and Spiderman.txt to the existing string. Now it became 1 , abc.txt , 2 , def.doc , 3 , flyaway.txt, 0, Superman.txt, 0 , Spiderman.txt What i am doing here is that this csv string is paased into SP where its splitted and inserted to db. What I researched so far: In an so article they described the measurestring to figure out the exact width or height so dynamic changes in the .cs to the width and height can be accomplished. Is there something like this in Silverlight? Is my only option to utilize the myTxt.Text.length and then change the myGrid.height and myGrid.width to leave wasted space to accommodate all cases?

  • Getting Data from WinForms ListView Control

    I need to retrieve my data from a ListView control set up in Details mode with 5 columns. I tried using this code: MessageBox.Show(ManageList.SelectedItems(0).Text) And it works, but only for the first selected item (item 0). If I try this: MessageBox.Show(ManageList.SelectedItems(2).Text) I get this error: InvalidArgument=Value of '2' is not valid for 'index'. Parameter name: index I have no clue how I can fix this, any help? Edit: Sorry, should have said, I'm using Windows.Forms :)

  • New to MVVM - Best practices for seperating Data processing thread and UI Thread?

    Good day. I have started messing around with the MVVP pattern, and I am having some problems with UI responsiveness versus data processing. I have a program that tracks packages. Shipment and package entities are persisted in SQL database, and are displayed in a WPF view. Upon initial retrieval of the records, there is a noticeable pause before displaying the new shipments view, and I have not even implemented the code that counts shipments that are overdue/active yet (which will necessitate a tracking check via web service, and a lot of time). I have built this with the Ocean framework, and all appears to be doing well, except when I first started my foray into multi-threading. It broke, and it appeared to break something in Ocean... Here is what I did: Private QueryThread As New System.Threading.Thread(AddressOf GetShipments) Public Sub New() ' Insert code required on object creation below this point. Me.New(ViewManagerService.CreateInstance, ViewModelUIService.CreateInstance) 'Perform initial query of shipments 'QueryThread.Start() GetShipments() Console.WriteLine(Me.Shipments.Count) End Sub Public Sub New(ByVal objIViewManagerService As IViewManagerService, ByVal objIViewModelUIService As IViewModelUIService) MyBase.New(objIViewModelUIService) End Sub Public Sub GetShipments() Dim InitialResults = From shipment In db.Shipment.Include("Packages") _ Select shipment Me.Shipments = New ShipmentsCollection(InitialResults, db) End Sub So I declared a new Thread, assigned it the GetShipments method and instanced it in the default constructor. Ocean freaks out at this, so there must be a better way of doing it. I have not had the chance to figure out the usage of the SQL ORM thing in Ocean so I am using Entity Framework (perhaps one of these days i will look at NHibernate or something too). Any information would be greatly appreciated. I have looked at a number of articles and they all have examples of simple uses. Some have mentioned the Dispatcher, but none really go very far into how it is used. Anyone know any good tutorials? Cory

    OK, I've been working on something for a while now, using reflection to accomplish a lot of what I need to do, but I've hit a bit of a stumbling block... I'm trying to use reflection to populate the properties of an array of a child property... not sure that's clear, so it's probably best explained in code: Parent Class: Public Class parent Private _child As childObject() Public Property child As childObject() Get Return _child End Get Set(ByVal value As child()) _child = value End Set End Property End Class Child Class: Public Class childObject Private _name As String Public Property name As String Get Return _name End Get Set(ByVal value As String) _name = value End Set End Property Private _descr As String Public Property descr As String Get Return _descr End Get Set(ByVal value As String) _descr = value End Set End Property End Class So, using reflection, I'm trying to set the values of the array of child objects through the parent object... Anyone have any ideas? @Jon :- Thanks, I think I've gotten a little further, by creating individual child objects, and then assigning them to an array... The issue is now trying to get that array assigned to the parent object (using reflection). It shouldn't be difficult, but I think the problem comes because I don't necessarily know the parent/child types. I'm using reflection to determine which parent/child is being passed in. The parent always has only one property, which is an array of the child object. When I try assigning the child array to the parent object, I get a invalid cast exception saying it can't convert Object[] to . EDIT: Basically, what I have now is: Dim PropChildInfo As PropertyInfo() = ResponseObject.GetType().GetProperties() For Each PropItem As PropertyInfo In PropChildInfo PropItem.SetValue(ResponseObject, ResponseChildren, Nothing) Next ResponseObject is an instance of the parent Class, and ResponseChildren is an array of the childObject Class. This fails with: Object of type 'System.Object[]' cannot be converted to type 'childObject[]'.

  • Multiple CodeSnippet in an XML .snippet file

    I'm attempting to supplement the help features for my code by providing other developers with code snippets. These produce skeletons of code which demonstrate how to use/call my classes or methods. I've created a .snippet file and have placed it in the "%Visual Studio Folder%\Code Snippets\Visual Basic\My Snippets" folder. I've used the Code Snippets Manager and ensured that it included this folder so that I can access the snippets. Everything works well when I have 1 CodeSnippet tag within the root CodeSnippets tag.... When I add more than one CodeSnippet tag to the file (each with their own title, and their own code example) I'm experiencing something strange. The first CodeSnippet I've added contains code for adding something to my system, the second contains code for editing something in my system, and the third deleting something from the system. When I use the code snippet by right clicking and selecting "Insert Code Snippet", only the first code snippet in the file shows up as an option. When I select it, the code in the first CodeSnippet is inserted....but so is the code within the other CodeSnippet tags. Do you have to have a separate XML .snippet file for each code snippet you want to make available? After reading through MSDN about creating Code Snippets I was under the impression that this could all be done within one file. It seems that I'm not understanding something very basic here and would love to find the answer but apparently Code Snippets are under used so finding the answer has proven to be a little trickier than I first thought it would be.     I used this example to create a DateTime column for a DataGridView in my winforms app. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/7tas5c80.aspx I can see the new column in the Windows Forms Designer and add it to an existing DataGridView. However, I want to be able to change the display format when I change the "DefaultCellStyle" within the designer. The designer generated code looks like this: DataGridViewCellStyle1.Format = "t" DataGridViewCellStyle1.NullValue = Nothing Me.colDate.DefaultCellStyle = DataGridViewCellStyle1 Me.colDatum.Name = "colDate" Me.colDatum.Resizable = System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewTriState.[False] Which is fine. But since the code of the DataGridViewCalendarCell does this in the constructor: Public Sub New() Me.Style.Format = "d" End Sub The format never changes to "t" (time format). Any suggestions?

  • Can I autogenerate/compile code on-the-fly, at runtime, based upon values (like key/value pairs) parsed out of a configuration file?

    This might be a doozy for some. I'm not sure if it's even 100% implementable, but I wanted to throw the idea out there to see if I'm really off of my rocker yet. I have a set of classes that mimics enums (see my other questions for specific details/examples). For 90% of my project, I can compile everything in at design time. But the remaining 10% is going to need to be editable w/o re-compiling the project in VS 2010. This remaining 10% will be based on a templated version of my Enums class, but will generate code at runtime, based upon data values sourced in from external configuration files. To keep this question small, see this SO question for an idea of what my Enums class looks like. The templated fields, per that question, will be the MaxEnums Int32, Names String() array, and Values array, plus each shared implementation of the Enums sub-class (which themselves, represent the Enums that I use elsewhere in my code). I'd ideally like to parse values from a simple text file (INI-style) of key/value pairs: [Section1] Enum1=enum_one Enum2=enum_two Enum3=enum_three So that the following code would be generated (and compiled) at runtime (comments/supporting code stripped to reduce question size): Friend Shared ReadOnly MaxEnums As Int32 = 3 Private Shared ReadOnly _Names As String() = New String() _ {"enum_one", "enum_two", "enum_three"} Friend Shared ReadOnly Enum1 As New Enums(_Names(0), 1) Friend Shared ReadOnly Enum2 As New Enums(_Names(1), 2) Friend Shared ReadOnly Enum3 As New Enums(_Names(2), 4) Friend Shared ReadOnly Values As Enums() = New Enums() _ {Enum1, Enum2, Enum3} I'm certain this would need to be generated in MSIL code, and I know from reading that the two components to look at are CodeDom and Reflection.Emit, but I was wondering if anyone had working examples (or pointers to working examples) versus really long articles. I'm a hands-on learner, so I have to have example code to play with. Thanks!
