How can one cache bust files referenced in a LESS file when using Symfony2, Twig, and Assetic?

I have a web site built on Symfony2 which uses twig templates, LESS, and assetic. In order to cache bust assets, I'm simply using this in my config.yml: framework: templating: engines: ['twig'] assets_version: 'asset-version-here' And then I use the asset() function to load the asset and the cache busting is handled for me. However, the concern I have is when I load my LESS (css) file, there are references to other files, and I would like to know how these files can be cache busted as well. Example: .someSelector { background:url('../images/filename.png'); } How can I make sure that the referenced file, filename.png is cache busted upon deployment? The asset files referenced in Twig using asset() are cache busted automatically upon deployment (I use a deployment script hook that updates the assets_version in the framework's config), but those referenced in a stylesheet are not. How can I do this?

Getting the date object to work in IE6 (w/ YYYY-MM-DD param)?

I just got IE6 sprung on me for a project that is going out into the wild soon, which means it's time to go back and comb through all of the CSS and JS. Getting started with html5 web sockets

Hi, I'm very interested in learning about the new feature in html5 called web sockets. I've looked into it and have come out with a few questions. It seems that before I can start implementing this new technology into a web application of mine I need to have a web server which supports it. Does this involve downloading something and installing it on the said server? Is there more than one available? If so where do I find these? I already have experience with JavaScript and html/css of course, Are there any other languages I will need to learn to start using web sockets? Any additional information that you think I might need to know would be appreciated.

So I'm just getting started with Nokogiri and Rails I have the following which returns the name of someone. I work at a software company where most of the people are afraid to install new tools to increase productivity. They give me excuses like: I don't need to install something else. I can do this myself. etc...many other baseless arguments. In an ecommerece business, the end-users should not have to install anything, everything should be managed by them from the web, and the developers should be the ones installing things to increase productivity and teamwork i.e.: Version Control Systems Build Tools (ANT, NANT, Maven, continuous integration, CSS Frameworks) Integrated Development Environments Frameworks (Unit testing, etc) Etc... How else can I get my point across without sound crass?

double authentication issue on IIS / Report Server (SQL server 2008)

Hi, On a 2003 server box, with SQL server 2008 installed (ReportServer deployed in IIS mode), I've got a virtual directory within IIS with it's security set to 'windows authentication', with the following html code: <body> <h1>test</h1> <iframe src="/reportserver" witdh="50%" height="50%" /> </body> From the outside, I've got a first login/pwd box displayed to access the html code, then a second one to display the content of the iframe. On the same type of server, but with SQL Server 2005, I don't have this issue (i.e. only one login box). My thought is that the first token should give acces to both the page and the iframe, isn't it? Any hints on how to setup the reportserver to fix this? thanks.

Mouseup not working after mousemove on img

I'm trying to do a simple drag script. The idea is to save the position when the mouse is down, update the view while the mouse is moving, and stop when mouse is up. Problem, mouseup event isn't working properly. iPhone webapp: my ressources don't get cached

Hello, First of all, I'd like to say I'm not using any off-line feature from HTML5. I have a web-application which runs on the iPhone. When viewing it from safari, everything works quite well. But when I launch the application from the home screen (to remove the navigation bar), it can be really slow. I checked the logs in Apache and it appears that Safari does a good work to cache the resources (css / js / images), with Apache answering "304 Not Modified" when needed. However, when the web app run as a "real" application (navigation bar hidden), those resources doesn't get cached and Apache the content has to be transferred over and over again (response code 200 Ok + content), resulting in a significantly slower page load. How can I prevent this behavior? Do I need to always run my webapp inside Safari, even when it's launched from the home screen? Thank you!

Hi, I am using flvplayer.swf player, it is playing the videos,but before playing the video the player has black screen and a play button. When I click the play button the video plays. Is it possible to show a screen-shot of the video with the play button on top, instead of the blank screen? Custom Parser for JQuery Tablesorter

I'm using the jQuery Tablesorter and have an issue with the order in which parsers are applied against table columns. I'm adding a custom parser to handle currency of the form $-3.33. $.tablesorter.addParser({ id: "fancyCurrency", is: function(s) { return /^\$[\-]?[0-9,\.]*$/.test(s); }, format: function(s) { s = s.replace(/[$,]/g,''); return $.tablesorter.formatFloat( s ); }, type: "numeric" }); The problem seems to be that the built-in currency parser takes precedence over my custom parser. I could put the parser in the tablesorter code itself (before the currency parser) and it works properly, but this isn't very maintainable. I can't specify the sorter manually using something like: headers: { 3: { sorter: "fancyNumber" }, 11: { sorter: "fancyCurrency" } } since the table columns are generated dynamically from user inputs. I guess one option would be to specify the sorter to use as a css class and use some JQuery to explicitly specify a sorter like this question suggests, but I'd prefer to stick with dynamic detection if possible.

Zooming to UIView and it's sub-views

Hi, I have a UIView which I can zoom to (as it is set as a subview of UIScrollView). UIView has UILabel, UITextField, etc. If I just zoom to the UIView, then of course label and text field get fuzzy (the same effect if you are zooming to the image file without changing image resolution). To solve the problem I need to increase the font size and sizes of the UILable and UITextField in according to the scale used to zoom in (scale is passed as a param by the UIScrollView). This is where I am getting confused. Changing frame (by increasing it width and height by zooming scale) I get all my elements (sub-views) repositions (because changing frame effects center and bounds) Question: 1. What would I need to do to zoom in to the sub-views and just increase the sub-view sizes while keeping them in the exactly the same position? thanks

which layout engine for finding coordinates of html elements on the web page?

I am doing some web data classification task and was thinking if I could get the co-ordinates of html elements as they would appear on a web-browser without taking into consideration any css or javascript being referred in the web page. My language of programming is c++ and the need results for a couple million of pages, so it has to be fast. I know there is a Microsoft COM component which renders the page in a web browser control and then can be queried for position of different html tags. But this is not suitable in my case as it first renders the whole page which takes up a lot of time. So as I found out, there are open-source layout engines WebKit, Gecko that can probably be used for this. But that's a huge piece of code and I need someone to direct me to the right classes or right modules to look into or any previous/similar work someone has done previously. Also, please let me know what you guys think is a good choice if I want to customize the existing code for use with multiple threads to make it faster. Thanks

xVal ignoring fields that are hidden

I have a form where a user can toggle receiving funds either via check or via electronic transfer. When they choose either way in a list box, the respective part of the form hides. If they choose electronic transfer only bank info fields show, if they choose via check only address info shows and the bank fields are hidden. Well, since they choose one way or another I want to, not validate for something that is hidden. (Client Side) Is there a way to set xVal to only validate fields that are not visible? is XULRUNNER suitable as a replacement for other C++ desktop applications frameworks such as QT?

XulRunner/Gecko seems to be really interesting for developing gui-intensive applications (by using widely used technologies such as HTML / CSS / SVG / XUL / Javascript). But the underlaying C++ APIS (XPCOM, NECKO, ...) looks so old and complex. Moreover the general lack of documentation/developper tools is really frightening. On the other hand, QT have a quite nice platform, and is well documented and supported. The UI part is really "traditional" though. What are your experiences with XULRUNNER, specially compared to other C++ desktop applications frameworks such as QT/GTK/MFC...? What is missing? What is awesome? Side question: If I wanted to migrate an existing MFC app to a cross platform C++ desktop application framework, would it be wise to use XULRUNNER instead of QT or GTK?

How do I detect whether a browser supports mouseover events?

Let's assume I have a web page which has some onmouseover javascript behaviour to drop down a menu (or something similar) Obviously, this isn't going to work on a touch device like the iPad or smartphones. How can I detect whether the browser supports hover events like onmouseover or onmouseout and the :hover pseudotag in CSS? Note: I know that if I'm concerned about this I should write it a different way, but I'm curious as to whether detection can be done. Edit: When I say, "supports hover events", I really mean, "does the browser have a meaningful representation of hover events". If the hardware supports it but the software doesn't (or vice versa), there's no meaningful representation. With the exception of some upcoming tech, I don't think any touch devices have a meaningful representation of a hover event.

OpenLayers FramedCloud Autosizing

According to the documentation, I should be able to configure the size of my OpenLayers popup by declaring an OpenLayers.Size object in the FramedCloud constructor: this.popup = new OpenLayers.Popup.FramedCloud('featurePopup', this.options.feature.geometry.getBounds().getCenterLonLat(), new OpenLayers.Size(80, 60), this.template(this.formattedAttrs()), null, true, this.onPopupClose ); Currently the popup that is rendered is autosized no matter what dimensions I use in the constructor. I've tried manually setting the autosizing attribute of the FramedCloud to false as well as manually adjusting the css styling for the popup without achieving the results I need. I checked and found some similar issues in the OpenLayers 2.11 issues list, but I haven't found a workaround. Any ideas?
