• iPhone + OpenGL + Touches: FPS drop

  Hey there, Recently I ran into a very strange issue: touching the screen of the iPhone and moving a finger around can eat up to 50% of my FPS. Yeah, I checked my code for possible bottlenecks – not the issue. The last resort I tried before writing this post – commenting out all the touch processing code and looking at FPS then. Results are: no touches – 58-60. Touching and moving the finger – 35-40 FPS instantly. The rendering is done in a separate thread, so that no main runloop events shall collide with it. However, it's very crushial for me (and the game I develop) to resolve this issue, because such FPS drop is really noticeable. Thank you for your help in advance. UPDATE: seems that setting rendering thread's priority to higher value helps a bit...

• How can I get my div id to reload via ajax and jquery

  I'm creating a CMS using jQuery and AJAX. When I click, my "Add Campaign" buttom, it creates a unique client ID in the DB and on a hard reload, the new client shows up in its container. I am trying to use ajax to reload the container on the fly and I'm not having the exact luck i am hoping for. • Set form action dynamically in https-area

  Hi, heres the problem explanation: Im on the domain https://www.example.com - theres an Order-Form with the Action https://www.example-otherdomain.com with an other SSL Certificate. On some conditions i set the form action to https://www.example.com so that it will be posted on our domain, but if the user uses a CreditCart it should get posted to https://www.example-otherdomain.com. So far so good. But in some rare conditions, users with CreditCards still posts their form to https://www.example.com. So my idea is: Is there some Same-Domain-Policy for Javascript/HTTPS to protect the user from phishing? It seems that to set the FormAction to the same domain works, but not to reset it to the external one (with JS). I cant reproduce this error, so im asking here if someone knows if theres such a problem. It doesnt matter which UserAgent the user has (there are post datas from FF, Chrome, Webkit, IE7/8) Thx!

• Ruby w/ Postgres & Sinatra - Query won't order right with parameter??

  So I set a variable in my main ruby file that's handling all my post and get requests and then use ERB templates to actually show the pages. I pass the database handler itself into the erb templates, and then run a query in the template to get all (for this example) grants. In my main ruby file: grants_main_order = "id_num" get '/grants' do erb :grants, :locals => {:db=>db, :order=>grants_main_order, :message=>params[:message]} end In the erb template: db = locals[:db] getGrants = db.exec("SELECT * FROM grants ORDER BY $1", [locals[:order]]) This produces some very random ordering, however if I replace the $1 with id_num, it works as it should. Is this a typing issue? How can I fix this? Using string replacement with #{locals[:order]} also gives funky results.

  Hi all, I'm tasked with evaluating an "enterprise" platform for the next-gen version of a product. We're currently considering two "types" of platforms - RAD (workflow engine, integrated UI, small cores of "technology plugins" to the workflows, automatic persisting of state...) like SalesForce.com / Service-Now.com and "cloud based" (EC2 / AppEngine...). While I have a few ideas on where to start, I'd like your opinions - how would you evaluate platforms for an enterprise suite of products? What factors would you consider? How would you eliminate weak options quickly enough to be able to concentrate on the few strong ones? Also interesting is how would you compare enterprise RAD (proven technology, quick to develop - but tends to look "the same as the competition") to cloud-based technology (lots of "buzz", not that many competitors - easy to justify to management, but probably lacking (?) enterprise tools and experience). As said before - I have a few ideas, but would like to see some answers before I post mine so I wouldn't drive the discussion to a specific place. RB.

• JQuery and PHP validation problem?

  I want to do the validation on my PHP side and then have my JQuery code display your changes have been saved when the submit button is clicked but the JQuery code states that the changes have been saved even when the validation fails. How can i fix this so that PHP can do the validation and then JQuery can do its thing when PHP has finished its validation? • How to record when user follows external links without slowing user down

  I want to track when user clicks external links for analytics purposes. The simplest solution is to replace all external links with links to special record-and-redirect controller, but that would slow the user unnecessarily. The second idea would be to override click event and within in $.post a message to record controller, then let the main event handler happen, which will usually be either click (open link in same tab) or middle click (open in new tab) - good either way, and the user won't have to wait for wait for my server to record it, it's fire-and-forget. (I don't care if users without Javascript don't get tracked) Is that a reasonable way to go? Or what else would be the best way to track all external link clicks?

• Making GridView Respond to 2 Drop Down Lists

  Hi there. I have got 2 Drop Down Lists on my Form and 1 GridView. I want GridView to display the data according to selection from the Drop Down Lists. For Example, One Drop Down List contains Names and other contains Dates. Both the Drop Down Lists can post back. So if i select a name from 1st Drop Down list, the Grid View should show all the results according to that Name. Similarly if i select the Date from the other Drop Down List , the Grid View should show the results according to the dates. But i cant figure out as how to bind Grid View to respond to 2 Drop Down List. BTW i am binding both the Drop Down Lists and the Grid View to the DataSource Objects, which is getting data from the database. Any Suggestions??

  I'm currently using jquery's ajax feature or whatever they call it. To load data from mysql database. Its working fine, but one of the built in features of this one is to load all the data which is on the database when you press on backspace and there's no character left on the text box. Here's my query: SELECT * FROM prod_table WHERE QTYHAND>0 AND PRODUCT LIKE '$prod%' OR P_DESC LIKE '$desc%' OR CATEGORY LIKE '$cat%' As you can see I only want to load the products which has greater than 0 quantity on hand.   I have an application with a very large TreeView control in Java. I want to get the contents of the tree control in a list (just strings not a JList) of XPath-like elements of leaves only. Here's an example root |-Item1 |-Item1.1 |-Item1.1.1 (leaf) |-Item1.2 (leaf) |-Item2 |-Item2.1 (leaf) Would output: /Item1/Item1.1/Item1.1.1 /Item1/Item1.2 /Item2/Item2.1 I don't have any source code or anything handy like that. Is there I tool I can use to dig into the Window item itself and pull out this data? I don't mind if there are a few post-processing steps because typing it in by hand is my only other option.

  I have to write an app for iPad that would take data from SQL Server and post it to the iPad. I looked up on this over the Internet and found that i have to write a web service to expose the data from SQL server using ASP.NET. I did an app previously in android that would take data from my dropbox a/c and display it to the user. I made use of the drop-box api available. I was wondering if anything like that exists for SQL? Also, i have to code in Obj-C for the iPad, so how will i write ASP.NET code? I have more doubts. Thanks in advance.

• C# : Redirect console application output : How to flush the output?

  I am spawning external console application and use async output redirect. as shown in this SO post My problem is it seems that the spawned process needs to produce certain amount of output before I get the OutputDataReceived event notification. I want to receive the OutputDataReceived event as soon as possible. I have a bare-bones redirecting application, and here are some observations: 1. When I call a simple 'while(true) print("X");' console application (C#) I receive output event immediately. 2. When I call a 3d party app I am trying to wrap from the command line I see the line-by-line output. 3. When I call that 3d party app from my bare-bone wrapper (see 1) - the output comes in chunks (about one page size). What happens inside that app? FYI: The app in question is a "USBee DX Data Exctarctor (Async bus) v1.0".

  If you assign an invalid date (like December 39th) to a datetime column ActiveRecord returns a "can't be blank" error when is should probably return an error like "Not a valid date" My question. Is this expected rails behavior, a bug or, something that I could patch? class ExerciseLog < ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :scheduled_datetime end Fire up the console. e = Log.new # lets set a date for Dec 39th which obviously doesn't exist e.scheduled_datetime = "2010-12-39" e.save => false # this is the confusing message since our form did post a valid date e.errors.on(:scheduled_datetime) => "can't be blank" e.scheduled_datetime = "2010-12-30" e.save => true I discovered this issue when I accidentally transposed the month and day values. btw This is in Rails 2.3.5

  i have a C code that parses a file and generates another file for the processed data. i now need to send these files to a web server (website). i guess there way is to do a HTTP POST. but i have never done this in c (Linux gcc compiler in ubuntu). • OutputPath ignored on projects being build by TFS 2010

  I have installed TFS2010 Beta 2 with default settings and configured a CI build with a solution containing the indivial projects. My *.cspoj files could have: <OutputPath>bin\debug\</OutputPath> Or alternatively: <OutDir>bin\debug\</OutDir> When the build server is done building and running tests etc. all the assemblies are placed in the root of the build drop off folder. How do I configure the build to keep the outputpath or outdir in my projects and store the assemblies and content in the matching folder structure( builddropfolder\bin\debug\ )? I have found a number of post on this most of them relates to TFS 2008 but I have not found solutions for TFS 2010. Perhaps it is possible to solve this in the new workflow file for the buildserver?

It'll be used during the 2.0 version is developed (ASP.NET MVC with C#). As its so different from the efault install packages, I've made it as normal windows application, not as setup application (a setup application don't let us customize so much as I need). And here is the problem: As its a windows application, I must "Release" it and send the compiled .EXE with the .DLLs, I must not "Publish" because if i do so, the published .EXE will "install the installer" and not my application. I need a way to verify and install the .NET Framework 3.5 like a bootstrap package prerequisite used in publishing option, but remember that I'm not publishing, I'm doing a "Release" build. • Dreamweaver recordset filter - Display all records as default

  I am trying to create a simple search form to filter the results in the dynamic table. The search form is on the same pages as the results and posts to itself. I get the search string from the post variable. It is working, but I can't figure out how to set the default value to display all results. Dreamweaver automatically sets the default value to -1, and therefore no results are displayed on the initial load. How do I change this to display ALL records as default and the filter only if there is search string defined.

• iphone app photo upload to server from app threads

  I have an app that needs to upload a least 5 photos to a server using API call available with the server. For that I am planning to use threads which will take care of photo upload and the main process can go on with the navigation of views etc. What I cant decide is whether it is OK to spawn five separate threads in iphone or use a single thread that will do the upload. In the later cases obviously it will become quite slow. Basically an HTTP POST request will be made to the server with the NSMutableURLRequest object using NSCOnnection. More threads mean more complexity and sync issues, but I can try to write code as neat as possible if it means better performance than a single thread which is simple but is a real stopper if performance is considered. Anybody with any experience in this kinda app. ??

  Hi, I have an action in my controller: RedirectToRouteResult Create(UserDTO UserDTO) Which at some point decides with which HTML to respond after a post request by redirecting to an action: return ModelState.IsValid ? RedirectToAction("ThanksCreate") : RedirectToAction("Register"); In my unit tests I would like to get hold of the ‘views’ modelstate somehow like this: var modelState = result.ViewData.ModelState; Assert.IsFalse( modelState.IsValid ); where ‘result’ (ViewResult) is the result of the action ‘Create’ depending on the submitted DTO. My dilemma is that my action ‘returns’ a RedirectToRouteResult which I thought is quite nice but it might not be testable or is it? How could I get hold of the ModelState in my scenario? Thanks.
