• Get old text from change event?

  Can I somehow find out what was the change in the textfield? I would want to compare the old text with the new text ... the problem is, that I have multiple textAreas in a tab-editor, and all the textAreas are watched by one eventListener. I want to get a value calculated by the next formula: globalChangeCount += thisTextArea.currentCharacterCount - thisTextArea.oldtCharacterCount where the globalChangeCount is a value modified by all changes in any of the textAreas. I am searching for these values through the event variable, but can't seam to find the old text of the textArea.

However I would like the get the number of comments for each post too. So how can i modify the this query so I can get the count of comments. Any ideas?

  Hi all, I'm having a scrollview as the detailedview of tableview cell. There are multiple views on the detailedview like labels, buttons etc. which I'm creating through interface builder. What I'm creating through interface builder is static. I'm putting everything on a view of height 480. A label on my detailedview is having dynamic text which can extend to any length. The problem is that I need to set the scrollview's content size for which I need its height. How shall I set scrollview's height provided the content is dynamic?

• php/mysql show data from chosen checkboxes

  Hi. I have a table called FRUIT id type daysold 1 banana 5 2 apple 6 3 apple 4 4 peach 2 5 banana 6 What I would like is to have 3 checkboxes: Banana [ ] Apple [ ] Peach [ ] SUBMIT Then if I've only checked "Banana" and "Peach" the mysql output should only show me the rows that matches those two types. And the checkboxes should remain checked to highlight what was chosen. I can make the checkboxes but then that's about it really. I don't know how to properly get the info from the checkboxes and down to the WHERE argument in the MYSQL-code. Especially not with two types chosen. If it was just a dropdown menu with a single choice then I'd add the choice to the url and put WHERE type='$choice' - but I'm struggling with the multiple choices. I'm a bit of a novice at both php and mysql, so I'm a bit lost on this one.

• Better Java method Syntax? Return early or late? [closed]

  Duplicate: Should a function have only one return statement? and Single return or multiple return statements? Often times you might have a method that checks numerous conditions and returns a status (lets say boolean for now). Is it better to define a flag, set it during the method, and return it at the end : boolean validate(DomainObject o) { boolean valid = false; if (o.property == x) { valid = true; } else if (o.property2 == y) { valid = true; } ... return valid; } or is it better/more correct to simply return once you know the method's outcome? boolean validate(DomainObject o) { if (o.property == x) { return true; } else if (o.property2 == y) { return true; } ... return false; } Now obviously there could be try/catch blocks and all other kinds of conditions, but I think the concept is clear. Opinions?

• email tracking image duplicate requests

  I am embedding tracking images within emails that are being sent from a custom-built opt-in CRM system. The image src is an encoded .gif, such as src="12_34_675.gif". The image is served by an ASP.NET httphandler that decodes the src encoding and serves a transparent image. Everything works fine, but some email clients request the image multiple times, creating duplicate entries. Some clients make three calls all within one second, and some seem to make tens of calls over a day or so. Mostly email clients make single calls, but these few duplicates are very perplexing. I know I can code around them, but I'd really like to understand what's going on. I've checked the IIS log files, which show that the duplicate requests are coming from the client machines. I can't think what might be causing these duplicate http requests. Help!

  I've got multiple massive (multi gigabyte) datasets I need to import into a Rails app. The datasets are currently each in their own database on my development machine, and I need to read from them and create rows in tables in my Rails database based on the information they contain. The tables in my Rails database will not be exactly the same as the tables in the source databases. What's the smartest way to go about this? I was thinking migrations, but I'm not exactly sure how to connect the migration to the databases, and even if that is possible, is that going to be ridiculously slow?

The content admin team would like to be able to edit stores and their types in bulk. Is there a simple way to implement Store.item_types in list_editable which also allows adding new records, similar to horizontal_filter? If not, is there a straightforward guide that shows how to implement a custom list_editable template? I've been Googling but haven't been able to come up with anything. Also, if there is a simpler or better way to set up these models that would make this easier to implement, feel free to comment.

• Forcing Arrange in a Custom WPF Canvas

  Hello, I'm working on a project that involves creating a custom graphical editor. The graphical editor has multiple tabs, and I want to create a preview function that will show a popup with Bitmap previews of the content of each of the tabs. However, the problem I'm running into is that the content for each of the tabs must be arranged before a proper preview can be generated for it. This means going into each of the tabs to ensure that they're rendered and arranged. Then, and only then, do the previews get properly generated, otherwise the previews have a size of 0x0. Does anybody know how to force an arrange of a content control so that I can get a properly sized preview generated ?

• Lucene Analyzer to Use With Special Characters and Punctuation?

  I have a Lucene index that has several documents in it. Each document has multiple fields such as: Id Project Name Description The Id field will be a unique identifier such as a GUID, Project is a user's ProjectID and a user can only view documents for their project, and Name and Description contain text that can have special characters. When a user performs a search on the Name field, I want to be able to attempt to match the best I can such as: First Will return both: First.Last and First.Middle.Last Name can also be something like: Test (NameTest) Where, if a user types in 'Test', 'Name', or '(NameTest)', then they can find the result. However, if I say that Project is 'ProjectA' then that needs to be an exact match (case insensitive search). The same goes with the Id field. Which fields should I set up as Tokenized and which as Untokenized? Also, is there a good Analyzer I should consider to make this happen? I am stuck trying to decide the best route to implement the desired searching.

• @media queries - one rule overrides another?

  I have multiple @media queries all working fine but as soon as i put in a higher max screen-width than 1024px the rules for the higher width gets applied to everything. @media screen and (max-width: 1400px) { #wrap { width: 72%; } } @media screen and (max-width: 1024px) { #slider h2 { width: 100%; } #slider img { margin: 60px 0.83333333333333% 0 2.08333333333333%; } .recent { width: 45.82%; margin: 10px 2.08333333333334% 0 1.875%; } } as you can see 1024px (and also the 800px max-width query) do not change the #wrap width and work fine. As soon as i add the 1400px max-width query it changes them to 72% for ALL sizes and does the same for any element - for instance if i set #slider img to have a margin of 40px it will show at ALL sizes even though it is only in the max-width of 1400px. Am i missing something really obvious? Been trying to work this out for the past 2 days! Thanks, John

  I have multiple int arrays: 1) [1 , 202,4 ,55] 2) [40, 7] 3) [2 , 48 ,5] 4) [40, 8 ,90] I need to get the array that has the biggest numbers in all positions. In my case that would be array #4. Explanation: arrays #2, #4 have the biggest number in 1st position, so after the first iteration these 2 arrays will be returned ([40, 7] and [40, 8 ,90]) now after comparing 2nd position of the returned array from previous iteration we will get array #4 because 8 7 and so on... Can you suggest an efficient algorithm for this? Doing with Linq will be preferable. UPDATE There is no limitation for the length, but as soon as some number in any position is greater, so this array is the biggest.

  Hello, I need to split long string into a array with following constrains: Each part will have a limited number of character (e.g. not more than 8000 character) Each part can contain multiple sentences (delimited by . [full stop]) but never a partial sentences. Except if the last part of the string (as last part may not have any full stop. The string may contain HTML tags. But the tag can not be divided as ( to ). That means HTML tag should be intact. But starting tag and ending tag can be stay on different segment/chunk. I think regular expression with preg_split can do it. • Maintaining white space in html select tag

  Hi, I have a list of strings that I would like to display in a HTML select object. The strings look something like : id - name - description I would like the fields to align however. In PHP I'm using sprintf ("%4s%10s%20s", $id, $name, $description); which works fine. The problem is the multiple spaces is compacted to 1 space in the select list. I tried using the pre and white-space CSS properties of the select box, but it has no effect. Any suggestions?

• OracleDataAdapter returns no rows, but the query string works in SQLDeveloper

  visual studion 2008 oracle db 11.1.0.7 oracle client for .NET I have a relatively simple query, that selects the rows from across multiple tables (up to 4) using joins. OracleDataAdapter returns no rows for the only dataset's table, but if I copy and paste that query in SQLDeveloper then I get the desired results. I can get the data from other tables using the adapter with no problem, but it seems like it struggles with the bit longer selection query (string length is ~ 300 (not that much at all)) Connection string for the connection is 100% correct. Any ideas? thank you...

  I have managed to write several interpreters including Tokenizing Parsing, including more complicated expressions such as ((x+y)*z)/2 Building bytecode from syntax trees Actual bytecode execution What I didn't manage: Implementation of dictionaries/lists/arrays. I always got stuck with getting multiple values into one variable. My value structure (used for all values passed around, including variables) looks like this, for example: class Value { public: ValueType type; int integerValue; string stringValue; } Works fine with integers and strings, but how could I implement arrays? (From now on with array I mean arrays in my experimental language, not in C++) How can I fit the array concept into the Value class above? Is it possible? How should I make arrays able to be passed around just as you could pass around integers and strings in my language, using the class above? Accessing array elements or memory allocation wouldn't be the problem, I just don't know how to store them.

  I am developing a Delphi documents management application, so somehow I am giving the user some functionality similar to windows explorer. Currently I am using imagelists where I manually maintain the icons (like one for pdf, one for xls, ...) and when I need to display an icon for a filetype that I don't explicitly support I have a generic icon. Is there a way to retrieve the icon used by windows, like MyTImage := GiveMeDefaultIconForExtension('pdf'); In Vista and Seven this should be an icon with multiple resolutions I think. Moreover I would like to know if there is a way to get the preview used by windows explorer. For example windows explorer creates a small thumbnail for a pdf document for example, and displays it when the user chooses to view "big icons". Is there a way to retrieve that preview?   Hi, We have a system built on seam/richfaces. There's this webpage where the tables are rendered from dynamic context (from multiple different datasources, and each of them uses a different layout to represent essentially the same real world concept). As a result, this table is binded to a bean, and it's columns/layout are generated from this bean. Now I need to add a command link on a specific column, equivalent to <a4j:commandLink value="#{actBean.Ids}" action="#{actBean.genDetails}"> <f:setPropertyActionListener target="#{actBean.Ref}" value="#{cont}"/> </a4j:commandLink> in a JSF page. My question is, how do I do this programmatically? Thanks!

• TeamCity Multi-Part Build - How to checkout the code just once

  I am trying to create 1 package with multiple build configurations. The first will checkout the code, build it (Solution File configuration), and run nunit tests. If that succeeds, another will then build in release mode. If that succeeds, a final script witll package up the output, and mark it as an artifact. The problem I'm having is that I don't know how to tell TeamCity not to create new directories for each step, and as a result, the steps are failing. Is there a setting for this? It seems like the dependencies tab would be an appropriate place to look, but I don't seem to understand the instructions, and my tinkering so far has been fruitless.

  Hi So here is my problem. I want to store 2-tuple (key, val) and want to perform following operations: - keys are strings and values are Integers - multiple keys can have same value - adding new tuples - updating any key with new value (any new value or updated value is greater than the previous one, like timestamps) - fetching all the keys with values less than or greater than given value - deleting tuples. Hash seems to be the obvious choice for updating the key's value but then lookups via values will be going to take longer (O(n)). The other option is balanced binary search tree with key and value switched. So now lookups via values will be fast (O(lg(n))) but updating a key will take (O(n)). So is there any data-structure which can be used to address these issues? Thanks.

  I was looking at some same code (a sample MS Visual Studio C++ project) recently with multiple build configurations (Release/Debug, Win32/x64). My question: What is the difference? I guess I understand Release/Debug (Release = finalized version of project, Debug = version used to run in debugger), but what things need to be considered when building different versions for Win32/x64 platforms? Is there any coding differences, or does this just affect how that same code is ultimately built into machine code? I know there are different library files depending on whether you're using a 32-bit or 64-bit system as well... Are all of these differences again just machine code? Would a 32-bit library file and its corresponding 64-bit library file be two files with exactly the same functions build from the same source code originally, and only differing in their machine code implementation?   Hello, i have some class which constructs itself from string, like this: CurrencyVector v = new CurrencyVector("10 WMR / 20 WMZ"); it's actually a class which holds multiple currency values, but it does not matter much. I need to change type of column in my LINQ table (in vs 2010 designer) from String to that class, CurrencyVector. If i do it - i get runtime error when LINQ runtime tries to cast String as CurrencyVector (when populating the table from database). Adding IConvertible did not help. I wrapped these columns in properties, but it's ugly and slow solution. Searching internet gave no results.

• Subtracting Delphi Time Ranges from a Date Range, Calculate Remaining Time

  I'm looking for an algorithm that will help calculate a workday working time length. It would have an input date range and then allow subtracting partially or completely intersecting time range slices from that date range and the result would be the number of minutes (or the fraction/multiple of a day) left in the original date range, after subtracting out the various non-working time slices. For Example: Input date range: 1/4/2010 11:21 am - 1/5/2010 3:00 pm Subtract out any partially or completely intersecting slices like this: Remove all day Sunday Non-Sundays remove 11:00 - 12:00 Non-Sundays remove time after 5:00 pm Non-Sundays remove time before 8:00 am Non-Sundays remove time 9:15 - 9:30 am Output: # of minutes left in the input date range I don't need anything overly-general. I could hardcode the rules to simplify the code. If anyone knows of sample code or a library/function somewhere, or has some pseudo-code ideas, I'd love something to start with. I didn't see anything in DateUtils, for example. Even a basic function that calculates the number of minutes of overlap in two date ranges to subtract out would be a good start.
