• Distance between Long Lat coord using SQLITE

  I've got an sqlite db with long and lat of shops and I want to find out the closest 5 shops. My question is. Is it better to put the distance back into the sqlite row, I have the row when I step thru the database. How do I do that? Do I use the UPDATE statement? Does someone have a piece of code to help me. I can read the sqlite into an array and then sort the array. Do you recommend this over the above approach? Is this more efficient? Finally, if someone has a better way to get the closest 5 shops, love to hear it.

• Locking a table for getting MAX in LINQ

I have a query in LINQ, I want to get MAX of Code of my table and increase it and insert new record with new Code. just like the IDENTITY feature of SQL Server, but here my Code column is char(5) where can be alphabets and numeric. My problem is when inserting a new row, two concurrent processes get max and insert an equal Code to the record. my command is: var maxCode = db.Customers.Select(c=>c.Code).Max(); var anotherCustomer = db.Customers.Where(...).SingleOrDefault(); anotherCustomer.Code = GenerateNextCode(maxCode); db.SubmitChanges(); I ran this command cross 1000 threads and each updating 200 customers, and used a Transaction with IsolationLevel.Serializable, after two or three execution an error occured: using (var db = new DBModelDataContext()) { DbTransaction tran = null; try { db.Connection.Open(); tran = db.Connection.BeginTransaction(IsolationLevel.Serializable); db.Transaction = tran; . . . . tran.Commit(); } catch { tran.Rollback(); } finally { db.Connection.Close(); } } error: Transaction (Process ID 60) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. • AST with fixed nodes instead of error nodes in antlr

  I have an antlr generated Java parser that uses the C target and it works quite well. The problem is I also want it to parse erroneous code and produce a meaningful AST. If I feed it a minimal Java class with one import after which a semicolon is missing it produces two "Tree Error Node" objects where the "import" token and the tokens for the imported class should be. But since it parses the following code correctly and produces the correct nodes for this code it must recover from the error by adding the semicolon or by resyncing. Is there a way to make antlr reflect this fixed input it produces internally in the AST? Or can I at least get the tokens/text that produced the "Tree Node Errors" somehow? • Storing PLSQL stored-procedure values in Oracle memory caches for extended periods

  I am collecting runtime profiling data from PLSQL stored procedures. The data is collected as certain stored procedures execute, but it needs to accumululate across multiple executions of those procedures. To minimize overhead, I'd like to store that profiling data in some PLSQL-accessable Oracle memory-resident storage somewhere for the duration of the data collection interval, and then dump out the accumulated values. The data collection interval might be seconds or hours; its ok not to store this data across system boots. Something like session state in web servers would do. What are my choices for storing such data? The only method I know about are contexts in dbms_sessions: procedure set_ctx (value in varchar8) as begin dbms_session.set_context ( 'Test_Ctx', 'AccumulatedValue', value, NULL, 'ProfilerSessionId' ); end set_ctx; This works, but takes some 50 milliseconds(!) per update to the accumulated value. What I'm hoping for is a way to access/store an array of values in some Oracle memory using vanilla PLSQL statements, with access times typical of array accesses made to package-local arrays.

  Hi there, after some hours of checking out documentation, I am somewhat desperate: Basically I need to populate a TabContainer with some TextBoxes, and some Checkboxes. All theses neatly arranged: Labels to the left, fields to the right. To have this done I use a TableContainer that I add to the TabContainer, create the TextFields and add them to the TableContainer. All is rendered ok. But when it comes to a checkbox, I can't find the trick to have a label displayed at all. If I: - add a label-attribute to creation statement say: var text8 = new dijit.form.CheckBox({ id:"zuschauer_" + i, value: "zuschauer", label:"fritt"}); Firefox comes up with a "containerNode is null" - Error try to add a tag: Nothing is shown (no error, but alas: no label): var text9 = dojo.create('<label>'); dojo.attr(text9,"for","zuschauer_" + i); dojo.attr(text9,"content","fritt"); try to add a div or somewhat else on the tablecontainer (disabled Labels): Firefox comes up whith: Error: uncaught exception: [Exception...   I am attempting to create a simple application using Eclipse GEF that displays a diagram inside a ScrollingGraphicalViewer. On start-up I want the diagram to be centered inside the viewer (imagine a star layout where the center of the star is in the center of the view). • Importing MEF-Plugins into MVC Controllers

  Hello. There are several examples of using MEF to plugin whole controller/view packages into a MVC application, but i didn't found one, using MEF to plugin funcional parts, used by other controllers. For example, think of a NewsService with a simple interface like interface INewsService { List<NewsItem> GetAllNews(); } That gets news wherever he wants, and returns them in a List of NewsItems. My page should load an exported INewsService and show the news on the page. But there is the problem. I cant just use [Import] in the controllers, as they are just created when they are needed. Edit: (Importing them to the main MVCApplication class doesn't work, becouse i cant access it from the controllers.) I think i found a way to access the main app via HttpContext.ApplicationInstance. But the Service object in this instance is null although it was created successfully in the Application_Start() method. Any idea why? So, how can i access the NewsService from within a controller? I can't figure out a way to do it with either a limit_choices_to in the model, nor can I figure out how exactly to override the admin's inline formset properly (I feel like I should be somehow create a custom inline form, pass the building_id of the main form to the custom inline, then limit the queryset for the field's choices based on that--but I just can't wrap my head around how to do it). Maybe this is too complex for the admin site, but it seems like something that would be generally useful... Thanks again for your help!

  I know that ASP.NET MVC has error filter attribute to handle specified error type. However, this feature cannot catch any error that occurs when application start. Nevertheless, it does not work when error occurs on application starting because request and response objects are always null. Next, I try to solve this question by setting default redirect in custom errors like the following code. <customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="Scripts/ApplicationError.htm"></customErrors> Unfortunately, it does not work because when application receive redirected request, it try to start application again and it throw exception again. How do to solve this problem? Alternatively, Do you have other idea for handling this error. Thanks, PS.   I am creating items on the fly via Sitecore Web Service. So far I can create the items from this function: AddFromTemplate And I also tried this link: http://blog.hansmelis.be/2012/05/29/sitecore-web-service-pitfalls/ But I am finding it hard to access the fields. • Adding a UITapGestureRecognizer to a view then removing seems to short circuit button events

  In the code below I am popping up a ImageView as the result of a users touchUpInside on a simple info button. There are other buttons on the view. To dismiss the info I added a UITapGestureRecognizer to my controllers view, and hide the view when the tap is detected. If I don't remove the tapGestureRecognizer, the action is called every time some. Even when I do remove the gesture action, no bottons receive touchUpInside events once this gesture recognizer is added. Why? • Exception in setDrawingCache in Android 1.5?

  Hi, I am developing an application where I am using setDrawingCache and then once I get the Bitmap I destroy the cache by using destroyDrawingCache(). The application has been developed with Android SDK 1.6. When testing the application in emulator with Android 1.5 the application throws NullPointerException when try to manipulate the Bitmap returned by getDrawingCache(). It probably gives error since getDrawingCache returns null. The interesting thing in this is that the NullPointerException comes only after I run the application twice or thrice. It means I am able to get the Bitmap for two times and then it throws this exception. I want to give this new textbox focus. EnumType3.Unknown : (EnumType3)(Enum.Parse(typeof(EnumType3), value, true)); } } So the question here is, can I trim this down to an Enum extension method or maybe some type of single method that can handle any type. I have found some examples to do so with basic enums but the difference in my example is all the enums have the Unknown item that I need returned if the string is null or empty (if no match is found I want it to fail). Looking for something like the following maybe: EnumType1 value = EnumType1.Convert("Yes"); // or EnumType1 value = EnumHelper.Convert(EnumType1, "Yes"); One function to do it all... how to handle the Unknown element is the part that I am hung up on.

  Hi there I got a question about the behavior of lookup fields when importing data. I wonder how the lookup fields behave when the list they point to is being replaced/imported. To explain the issue, I will provide a quick example below: As example, assume we have these two sharepoint lists: Product Types ------------- + Type Name + Code Nr + etc Products -------- + Product Name + Product Type (Lookup field to list "Product Types") + etc In my scenario, the Products List contains production data on the production Sharepoint platform. It is filled with data by the business users. However the Product Types list contains rather static data and is maintained by the developer. Now after a development cycle, the developer wants to deploy his new webparts and his new data (product types list). The developer performs the following procedure: On the dev machine: Export "product type" list using stsadm On the production machine: Delete all items in the "product type" list On the production machine: Import the "product type" list using stsadm This means we basically replace the "product type" list on the production server while keeping the "product" list as it is. Now the question: Is this safe? Will the lookup references break under certain circumstances? Any downside of this import/export procedure? What happens if someone accesses a "product" during the import? Will the (now invalid) reference clear its own content (become a null value). What happens if the schema of the "product type" list changes (new column)? Will this cause any troubles? Thanks for all feedback and suggestions!

• Using graphical ActiveX (COM) controls in WinForms project

  I have a collection (set) of ActiveX controls. I recieved them from our vendor company. I created a wrappers for them using tlbimp.exe and aximp.exe. All non-graphical controls work good. All graphical controls don't react on some methods. When I call their methods I get: TargetInvocativeException (InnerException is null). or Attempt to read/write protected memory. Our vendor company assure that their graphical activex controls work good. But they don't provide support service, so I have to find solution of my problem alone. And some more, All graphical activex controls don't react on mouseclick or any other mouse manipulations. But documentation says: it must change the color on mouse click. Maybe, someone have same symptoms and can help me ! I googled over that problem many pages but they don't help me. Maybe it's some Visual Studio settings or compiler options ? I use VS 2005.

  I have a TableView controller class that uses a fetched results controller to display a list of 'patient' entities taken from a Core Data model. The sections of this table are taken from a patient attribute called 'location'. Here is the sort descriptor for the fetch request: NSSortDescriptor *locationDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"location" ascending:YES]; NSSortDescriptor *lastNameDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"lastName" ascending:YES]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:locationDescriptor, lastNameDescriptor, nil]; Here is the initialisation code for the FRC: NSFetchedResultsController *aFetchedResultsController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:fetchRequest managedObjectContext:managedObjectContext sectionNameKeyPath:@"location" cacheName:@"List"]; When I want to add a new 'patient' entity - I click an add button which then pushes an 'add new patient' view controller to the navigation stack. The first patient I add works fine. If I add a second patient - the app will sometimes crash with the following error: 2010-03-22 14:42:05.270 Patients[1126:207] Serious application error. Exception was caught during Core Data change processing: * -[NSCFArray insertObject:atIndex:]: index (1) beyond bounds (1) with userInfo (null) 2010-03-22 14:42:05.272 Patients[1126:207] Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '** -[NSCFArray insertObject:atIndex:]: index (1) beyond bounds (1)' This only seems to happen if the patient's have a location added (if none is added then the location defaults to 'unknown'). It seems to have something to do with the sorting of the location too. For instance, if the first patient location = ward 14 and the second = ward 9 then it crashes without fail. I'm wondering if this is something to do with how I am asking the fetched results controller to sort the section names?? This bug is driving me nuts and I just can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
