• JPopupMenu returning a null?

  Ok so I'm working on an Eclipse plugin based on the JGraph example. The problem is I can't really get the "save" method to work, here's how the program works in short: - I have a DiagramEditor class with an init() method, where I create a GraphEditor object and call the createFrame() methord of that object. - GraphEditor extends the BasicGraphEditor (which extends JPanel), the createFrame() method returns a JFrame and has a line "frame.setJMenuBar(menuBar)" - the "menuBar" is an object variable, which is initialized in the BasicGraphEditor. Till here everything is cool, the problem is with the action listener which is supposed to save a file. To get the graph I need to get the GraphEditor component, so I do a Component component = (Component) e.getSource() whitch is the ActionEvent passed to that action listener and at that stage is the JMenuItem "save", then I get the parent which is the JPopupMenu, then I want to get that JPopupMenu's parent which should be the GraphEdiotor, but instead I get a null. Any idea why? • HttpTransportSE requestDump gives NullPointerException

  Hi, I'm trying to access a webservice in Android via Ksoap2 for android. The SoapObject is created ok, the S.o.p of the bodyOut outputs the desired strings. But when I do a requestDump of the HttpTransportSE object I create to make the call, a NullPointerException happens. In other words, the transport object is null. How can this happen? • Can Windows handle inheritance cross the 32-bit/64-bit boundary?

  Is it possible for a child process to inherit a handle from its parent process if one process is 32-bit and the other is 64-bit? HANDLE is a 64 bit type on Win64 and a 32 bit type on Win32, which suggests that even it were supposed to be possible in all cases, there would be some cases where it would fail: a 64-bit parent process, a 32-bit child process, and a handle that can't be represented in 32 bits. Or is naming the object the only way for a 32-bit process and a 64-bit process to get a handle for the same object?

  Hello! I'm opening a connection to WebService with an URLConnection class. I also set request property for basic authorization like this: c.setRequestProperty("Authorization", "Basic " + usernameAndPasswordEncoded); Where c is an object of type URLConnection. So this is client side of WebService call. Now on server side I need to get username from session: User user = (User) request.getSession().getAttribute("user"); But this won't get an username. Also if I look through debug mode, I see an anonymous userName in HttpSession object. What to do to solve this problem, so that username is sent through client to WebService server for authorization?   Hello, I would like to be able to call a function based on its name provided by a string. Something like public void callByName(String funcName){ this.(funcName)(); } I have searched a bit into lambda funcions but they are not supported. I was thinking about going for Reflection, but I am a bit new to programming, so I am not so familiar with the subject. This whole question was brought up on my java OOP class, when I started GUI (Swing, swt) programming, and events. I found that using object.addActionCommand() is very ugly, because I would later need to make a Switch and catch the exact command I wanted. I would rather do something like object.attachFunction(btn1_click), so that it would call the btn1_click function when the event click was raised. Thank you Joao

  Hi all, I have a list of objects which i want to bind to a ListView control in my WPF application. The Objects have a DataTemplate already, so no need to define that. The list of objects is a property in the codebehind file in the format list<object> When i add one object programatically, it appears fine. But when i try to bind the ItemSource of the ListBox to the list of objects, nothing shows up.   We want to get a row from a table using Hibernate a la: select max(id) from mytable where date = <date> Then select * from mytable where id = <max_id> We are currently using Hibernate to map mytable to Java domain objects. I know how to load the domain object based on an id. So I could just do #1 using JDBC and then load the domain object using Hibernate the "normal" way. But.. is there a way to do this with one single Hibernate logical query?

• System.Diaganostics.Process.Id Isn't the Same Process Id Shown in Task Manger. Why?

  I'm using c#'s System.Diagnostic.Process object. One of its properties is Id. The Id this produces is not the same as the PID, shown in Windows Task Manager. Why is this? You see, once this process is started. It launches two other unmanaged processes, for which I can't explicitly get IDs for by object property references. I have to search through all processes to find them by process name via System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcesses(). I'm trying to find a reliable way to kill this process and all associated processes by PID, the one that shows in Task Manager. Is there a better way? I can't just kill all processes with the associated process names, because that might kill other instances of those processes that have nothing to do with my program.

• Using Excel VBA to send emails. Problem with attachments becoming embedded by accident.

  Hi, I am having an issue with an Excel macro I wrote that is used by several users within my company. It is used to send numerous emails daily with attachments that are also Excel workbooks. The issue is that sometimes, instead of the file simply being attached as it should be, it becomes an embedded object. This embedded object is openable by users on the email within the company (after clicking through the "YOu are about to activate an embedded object that may contain viruses or be otherwise harmful to your computer. It is important to be certain that it is from a trustworthy source. Do you want to continue?"), but those outside of the company do not see it at all. The email appears to have no attachment at all. Curiously, this appears to happen randomly, and only on some computers. So if the list has 15 email lists and attachments, it seems to happen randomly to anywhere between 0 and 15 of the emails. To be clear, my objective is to send emails with regular attachments. Running Excel 2003, Outlook 2003, and Windows XP. See code below. Please help! • [Cocoa] NSTask string encoding problem

  Hi, In my program, I'm grep-ing via NSTask. For some reason, sometimes I would get no results (even though the code was apparently the same as the command run from the CLI which worked just fine), so I checked through my code and found, in Apple's documentation, that when adding arguments to an NSTask object, "the NSTask object converts both path and the strings in arguments to appropriate C-style strings (using fileSystemRepresentation) before passing them to the task via argv[]" (snip). The problem is that I might grep terms like "Río Gallegos". Sadly (as I checked with fileSystemRepresentation), that undergoes the conversion and turns out to be "RiÃÅo Gallegos". • Finding distance travelled by robot using Optical Flow

  Hi, I'm working on a project right now in which we are developing an autonomous robot. I have to basically find out the distance travelled by the robot between any 2 intervals. I'm using OpenCV, and using the Optical Flow functions of OpenCV, I'm able to find out the velocity/distance of each pixel in 2 different images. Using this information, I want to be able to find out the distance travelled by the robot in the interval between those 2 images. I thought of a way in which we could develop an input output mapping between the distance travelled by pixels and the distance travelled by the bot (using some tests). In this way, using neural networks, we would be able to find the relationship. However, the optical flow would depend on the distance of the camera from the pixel, which would cause problems. Is there any way to solve this problem?

This way I can just use one global timer in my script to execute all actions at a certain interval rather than wasting resources by using multiples. • Marshal a list of objects from VB6 to C#

  I have a development which requires the passing of objects between a VB6 application and a C# class library. The objects are defined in the C# class library and are used as parameters for methods exposed by other classes in the same library. The objects all contain simple string/numeric properties and so marshaling has been relatively painless. We now have a requirement to pass an object which contains a list of other objects. If I was coding this in VB6 I might have a class containing a collection as a member variable. In C# I might have a class with a List member variable. Is it possible to construct a C# class in such a way that the VB6 application could populate this inner list and marshal it successfully? I don't have a lot of experience here but I would guess Id have to use an array of Object types.

• WPF Skin Skinning Security Concerns

  I'm really new to the WPF in the .Net Framework (get that out of the way). I'm writing an application where the interface is very customizable by simply loading .xaml (at the moment a Page element) files into a frame and then mapping the controls via names as needed. The idea is to have a community of people who are interested in making skins, skin my application however they want (much like Winamp). Now the question arises, due to my lack of Xaml knowledge, is it possible to create malicious Xaml pages that when downloaded and used could have other embedded Iframes or other elements that could have embed html or call remote webpages with malicious content? I believe this could be the case. If this is the case then I two options; either I have an automated process that can remove these types of Xaml files by checking it’s elements prior to allowing download (which I would assume would be most difficult) or have a human review them prior to download. Are there alternatives I’m unaware of that could make this whole process a lot easier?

  I hate these three tables that. Two tables have a many to many relationship and as such it generates a third table. I'm using Linq-to-SQL and in the .dbml file I've dragged all the folder there to the graphic surface. Here is the method I'm using to delete an Area safely.   I have a database that I need to connect to and select from. I have an SQL Login, let's call it myusername. When I use the following, no SELECT permission shows up: SELECT * FROM fn_my_permissions ('dbo.mytable', 'OBJECT') GO Several times I tried things like: USE mydatabase GO GRANT SELECT TO myusername GO GRANT SELECT ON DATABASE::mydatabase TO myusername GO GRANT SELECT ON mytable TO myusername GO It says the queries execute successfully, but there is never any difference in the first query. What simple thing am I missing to grant database level select permissions. As a note, I made double sure it was the correct user, correct database, and I have already tried granting table level select permissions. So far I keep getting the error: SELECT permission denied on object 'mytable', database 'mydatabase', schema 'dbo'. Any ideas what I'm missing? Thanks in advance.

  Hi, how do I test the state of my proxy before making calls to my WCF service. I have a duplex channel created using a duplex channel factory. Before making any calls to the server I want to check the state of the proxy object created from the channel factory. I saw this in a book... (to be used in immediate window) ? ((ICommunicationObject)flsProxy).State But it gave this exception... Cannot obtain fields or call methods on the instance of type 'System.ServiceModel.ICommunicationObject' because it is a proxy to a remote object. Would be grateful for any ideas how this can be tested, or is it better to just catch exceptions. Thanks.

  I can't get spring annotations to work at all, I'm just trying to get the simplest thing to work... .../mycontext/something - invokes method: @RequestMapping(value = "/something") @ResponseBody public String helloWorld() { System.out.println("hello world"); return "Hello World"; } My main problem is no matter how hard I try, I can't find a complete SIMPLE example of the configuration files needed, every spring tutorial is filled with junk, I just one one controller to handle a request with a mapping and can't get it to work does anyone know of a simple and complete spring example. pet-clinic is no good, it's way too complicated, I have a tiny basic use case and it's proving to be a real pain to get working (this always happens with Spring)

  Hi, I an generating reports using SQL Server reporting services. I have generated a report and have put .rdl report file in the "E" drive. Now, when I am going to render the .rdl report file into pdf format,I am getting the exception : - "An error occurred during local report processing."
