• Can Eclipse not hard-code ECLIPSE_HOME when exporting build.xml?

  I have an Eclipse project that I'm attempting to set up to build both with Eclipse and externally with Ant. It seems like a good way to do this is to have Eclipse generate a build.xml file that I can then use with ant. I'd like to set it up so the build.xml can be regenerated from Eclipse whenever the need arises, which means no hand-editing the build.xml file. But Eclipse writes one entry in there that has a hard-coded path to a directory on my computer, which makes it unsuitable for checking in to a source repository. Specifically it's this entry that's the trouble: <property name="ECLIPSE_HOME" value="D:/Eclipse/Eclipse Galileo (3.5) SR1"/> Is there some way to have Eclipse not output this line, or to make it a relative reference or something that makes sense to check in?

• Problem with url_for in ActionMailer template

  I'm attempting to provide a confirmation link in my user welcome email and I'm getting the following Rails error: Need controller and action! It makes a fuss about this line: <p>Please take a moment to activate your account by going to: <%= link_to confirm_user_url(:id => @user.confirmation_code) %>.</p> In my development.rb environment, I have the following line: config.action_mailer.default_url_options = { :host => "localhost", :port => 3000 } There's no problem with the @user variable. I've tested the email with things like @user.username and @user.confirmation_code. I'm only getting trouble with url_for and named routes like confirm_user_url. When I check my routes with rake routes, confirm_user shows up, so it's not an issue with the named route not existing. I can't seem to figure it out. What gives?

• GLOB_BRACE portability?

  In this question, I was made aware of glob()'s GLOB_BRACE option that allows for a limited set of regular expressions when searching for files. This looks just like what I need, but according to the manual, GLOB_BRACE is "not available on some Non-GNU Operating systems." Among those seems to be Solaris. I am building an application that is supposed to be as portable as possible, so I need to check out possible problems as early as possible. Does somebody know of other platforms apart from Solaris where GLOB_BRACE is not supported? How about Mac OS = X for example? It's built on top of a Unix. Is every Unix automatically a "GNU" platform as defined in the manual?

• Django - User account with multiple identities

  Synopsis: Each User account has a UserProfile to hold extended info like phone numbers, addresses, etc. Then, a User account can have multiple Identities. There are multiple types of identities that hold different types of information. The structure would be like so: User |<-FK- UserProfile | |<-FK- IdentityType1 |<-FK- IdentityType1 |<-FK- IdentityType2 |<-FK- IdentityType3 (current) |<-FK- IdentityType3 |<-FK- IdentityType3 The User account can be connected to n number of Identities of different types but can only use one Identity at a time. Seemingly, the Django way would be to collect all of the connected identities (user.IdentityType1_set.select_related()) into a QuerySet and then check each one for some kind of 'current' field. Question: Can anyone think of a better way to select the 'current' marked Identity than doing three DB queries (one for each IdentityType)?

I should call functions like similar to "Library.GetBoutiqueDetail();" So my question is simple, how can I refactor that code to remove these if-else sections ?

• How do I find the previous/default value of a radio button in JS?

  I'm not sure if this is even possible, but I figured I'd ask before clubbing togehter an ugly solution. What I have is a group of radio buttons and I want to trigger a function if the radio button value is changed. For example say there are three buttons X Y and Z with Y default selected. If a user clicks on an unselected button (i.e. X or Z) then the function gets triggered but if he/she clicks on Y (which is already selected) nothing happens. Naturally the best solution would be to fire the function on an onchange event but IE6 doesn't fire onchange until the focus is no longer on the element which is not satisfactory. So is there a way to know what the previous value of the radio button was or at least what its default value is? I could easily create an array of default values and check against that but I'm trying to reduce the overhead. Please no jQuery suggestions ;)

  i was running a test remotely on internet explorer, and when using navigate().to() selenium returns me this: "12:13:58.770 INFO - WebDriver remote server: Exception: The driver reported that the command timed out. Check that the destinationsite is in IE's 'Trusted Sites' (accessed from Tools-Internet Options in the 'Security' tab) If it is a trusted site, then the request may have taken more thana minute to finish." i've done what's said. but when looking at the browsers the page is loaded, but still this message continues. i've already tried as simon told me: "(16:32:54) simonstewart: ponto: http://code.google.com/p/selenium/wiki/FrequentlyAskedQuestions#Q:_The_does_not_work_well_on_Vista._How_do_I_get_it_to_work_as_e " but did not solve. could it be google analytics that on the background is getting data or something like that? ps: i ran the test on firefox and it works well. i've tried on Windows 7 and Windows XP, and Internet Explorer 7 and Internet Explorer 8.

• iOS get user contacts excluding businesses

  I have an app that is loading all of a users contacts. I would like to exclude any business, but I can't seem to find a way to determine if a contact is a business. I initially considered check if the "company" field contains a value when the first and last name do not, but I can't find this property from the ABRecord. Here is how I am grabbing the first and last name: NSString *firstName = (__bridge_transfer NSString *)ABRecordCopyValue(contactPerson, kABPersonFirstNameProperty); NSString *lastName = (__bridge_transfer NSString *)ABRecordCopyValue(contactPerson, kABPersonLastNameProperty); Any ideas? • Breaking change October: Status waiting when create custom audience with add user data file?

(After breaking change in October 2014, status field not return. So I see operation_status) I see that: "operation_status": { "code": 410, "description": "No file has been uploaded for this audience, or the previous upload has failed due to system error. Please try uploading the file again." } But after about 10s, I refresh again, and operation_status change to: "operation_status": { "code": 200, "description": "Normal" } My quetions is: how to check this audience's status is waiting ( uploading file) , like when I create on facebook not my our system. • Viewing directory containing MIME encoded email messages

  I have an application which generates and sends MIME encoded messages (javax.mail.internet.MimeMessage) through an SMTP server. As part of the development process only, I'd like to be able to view these messages rather than send them (I know the sending works just fine, but there are restrictions on the domains within the dev environment which makes it a little difficult) I thought the easiest way would be to save the text for each message to a directory, then point "an app" at the directory and check them over. So the question is, what would be a good app to use? Is it as simple as configuring Outlook or another email client to do it? Thanks

• How can a class's memory-allocated address be determined from within the contructor?

  Is it possible to get the memory-allocated address of a newly instantiated class from within that class's constructor during execution of said constructor? I am developing a linked list wherein multiple classes have multiple pointers to like classes. Each time a new class instantiates, it needs to check its parent's list to make sure it is included. If I try to do something like this: MyClass() // contructor { extern MyClass * pParent; for ( int i = 0; i < max; i++ ) { pParent->rels[i] == &MyClass; // error } } I get this error: error C2275: 'namespace::MyClass' : illegal use of this type as an expression Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. • Define and return a struct in c

  I'm trying to convert some code from Javascript to c. The function creates an array (which always has a fixed number of items) and then returns the array. I've learned that in c it's not straightforward to return an array, so I'd like to return this as a struct instead. My c is not all that great, so I'd like to check that returning a struct is the right thing to do in this situation, and that I'm doing it the right way. • How to use the boost lexical_cast library for just for checking input

  I use the boost lexical_cast library for parsing text data into numeric values quite often. In several situations however, I only need to check if values are numeric; I don't actually need or use the conversion. So, I was thinking about writing a simple function to test if a string is a double: template<typename T> bool is_double(const T& s) { try { boost::lexical_cast<double>(s); return true; } catch (...) { return false; } } My question is, are there any optimizing compilers that would drop out the lexical_cast here since I never actually use the value? Is there a better technique to use the lexical_cast library to perform input checking?

• YAHOO.util.Connect.asyncRequest does not work in Safari

  When I request a webpage using YAHOO.util.Connect.asyncRequest in Safari I always get Communication Failure message in callback's failure properties statusText. The same method works in IE. What could be wrong here? Here is the code. When the code is executed I always get two alerts: "Three" and "communications failure undefined" (corresponding to the second alert in the failure part below.) Also when I attach the debugger and put break point in the SAProvision.aspx's page load event, the break point is not hit. So it is sure that in safari the page is not being called. • Automating builds from subversion tags

  I'm trying to automate the build process for engineering group. As part of that automation, I'm trying to get to a point where the act of applying a specific tag that adheres to a pattern will kick off an automated process that will do the following: Check out source code Create a build script from a template Build the project I'm pretty certain I could do this with a post-hook in subversion, but I'm trying to figure out a way to do this with something other than a subversion hook. Would it make sense to monitor the tags directory in the subversion repository to kick off my workflow? Are there any decent tools that help with this (.NET would be great if possible). Am I better off just writing an engine to do this? My preferences: Existing product that does all or part of this If development work needs to occur, .NET is preferable Works with Windows (we've got a Linux based repo, but builds all occur on windows)

  I'm currently trying to build a RDP client in python and I came across the following issue with a len check; From: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc240836%28v=prot.10%29.aspx "81 2a - ConnectData::connectPDU length = 298 bytes Since the most significant bit of the first byte (0x81) is set to 1 and the following bit is set to 0, the length is given by the low six bits of the first byte and the second byte. Hence, the value is 0x12a, which is 298 bytes." This sounds weird. For normal len checks, I'm simply using : struct.pack("h",len(str(PacketLen))) but in this case, I really don't see how I can calculate the len as described above. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated !

• How to handle "100 continue" HTTP message ?

  Hello, I'm writing a simplistic HTTP server that will accept PUT requests mostly from cURL as client and I'm having a bit of an issue with handling the "Expect: 100-continue" header. As I understand it, the server is supposed to read the header, send back a "HTTP/1.1 100 Continue" response on the connection, read the stream up to the value on "Content-Length" and then send back the real response code (Usually "HTTP/1.1 200 OK" but any other valid HTTP answer should do). Well, that's exactly what my server does. The problem is that, apparently, if I send a "100 Continue" answer, cURL fails to report any subsequent HTTP error code and assumes the upload was a success. For instance, if the upload is rejected due to the nature of the content (there is a basic data check happening), I want the calling client to detect the problem and act accordingly. Am I missing something obvious ? Thanks

• Why are some C#4 features allowed even when targeting 3.5?

  We upgraded to VS 2010, but we haven't yet upgraded to .NET 4.0. All of our projects are still explicitly targeting 3.5. Today, a developer checked in code that looked like this: delegate T Generator<out T>(); As far as I know, "in T" and "out T" are C# 4.0 features. According to our build server, which doesn't have .NET 4.0 installed on it, I'm right. The check-in broke the build. But, why the heck does it build on his machine? Why is VS just ignoring the target framework for the project? Other C# 4.0 features, like the dynamic keyword, do not build on the developer's machine.

• Get the checked value of 2 sets of radiobuttons using jQuery

  Im having a weird issue here. Its probably just something stupid but I dont see it. I have two sets of radiobuttons, group1 and group2, and I want to get their values in a function. I have 1 clickevent on all radiobuttons in that div and when I click them I want to display the check-values of both groups. But he only reads the value of the first group. and so it always displays 1-1 2-2 3-3 4-4 instead of possibly 1-2 3-1 etc.... There is a jsfiddle here what am I missing??

  Let's suppose you have this class: class A { public: A () {} A (double val) : m_val(val) {} ~A () {} private: double m_val; }; Once I create an instance of A, how can I check if m_val has been initialized/defined? Put it in other words, is there a way to know if m_val has been initialized/defined or not? Something along the lines of the defined operator in Python, I suppose. (But correct me if I'm wrong.) I thought of modifying the class and the c-tors the following way: class A { public: A () : defined(false) {} A (double val) : m_val(val), defined(true) {} ~A () {} private: double m_val; bool defined; }; How do you rate this solution?
