  • Configuration Help for Sendmail Required

    Hi I need some help with respect to sendmail configuration. The basic problem is that I have some employees working from other places and they need access to their mail. So what I have done right now is whatever mails which are meant for them which are generated from within the company and collected by my internal mail server is bounced to an external mail server from where the employees access it. This is done through a email id on a different domain. This was working fine till I restricted the external mailing access for certain users using rulesets in sendmail.cf. Once I had put that in place only people who had external mailing rights could send mails to people outside the office. What I would like to know is that is there anyway where I can expose sendmail on two different ips and thereby configure everybody's email id to point to the same internal mail server using 2 different ips. one ip when inside the company and one ip outside the company. Is it possible that I have one static ip configured for both internal access and external access or is there any otherway it can be done with sendmail.   • Deployment and Ownership issues

    As an extreme newbie, I am having difficulty managing ownership and permissions on my first box. What I can't figure out is how to deploy using one user, we will call him deploy and operate my php application with www-data user. Currently as it stands, I know my server runs as www-data through this function <?php echo(exec("whoami")); ?> but I am having to chown between deploy and www-data every time I deploy. There has got to be an easier way to deploy with one user and still run as www-data. EDIT: Here is the output from ls- l on the folder in question. You will see user deploy and group www-pub, the group is from an attempt to add the two different users to a new group and chown one of them in the hopes that they both would have the permissions (newb alert) drwxrwxr-x 4 deploy www-pub 4096 Mar 7 01:41 example.com I am using capistrano for deployment under the user deploy then once its done i chown to www-data, otherwise I can't use php to manipulate files. I am also unsure how to even change which user apache is running.

  • passing on command line options in bash

    I have a question. I have a script, a kind of long script written in bash aprox. 370 lines. That has several functions and in those functions the user has to enter information which is then stored in files. ( This is suppose to represent a MySQL database, with the functions INSERT, UPDATE, SELECT, SELECT where x=y.) I created this myself in bash, now the only thing that rests me is that I need to be able to pass arguments on the command line to the script, that will do the same as the script does. I know that bash has positional parameters such as $1 $2 $3 $* $@ $0 ( refers to the name of the script) etc. I know how I can use these parameters in a simple if function. This is not enough for my script. I basicly need to do the same thing that the script does, but then from the command line. I have been struggling with this for a couple of days now and I cannot think of a way to get it to work. Maybe someone here can help me with this? If you want to have the script.   • is it good to have or difference between ADSL Modem+WiFi Router and Separate ADSL Modem & Wi-Fi Router?

    I have ADSL2 Modem which I got from my service provider, now I want to setup wireless(Wi-Fi) in my home. I went to shop, where I came to know that there are routers which come up with modem also but they are priced lil higher than the only wi-fi routers. Now it is obvious that I should go for only wi-fi one, as I already have modem. My question is, is there any difference between ADSL+router and only router? I think if I use ADSL+router, the speed will increase lilbit, as modem does modulate and demodulate signals, and router also generates wireless signal, that is time to take conversions is doubled, and if I use ADSL+modem, it will directly convert the signals to wireless, and time will be saved, so the overall speed will increase lilbit. This is what my concept is(Which might be wrong). What do you guys would suggest me? should I take my current modem away and buy an ADSL+router or I should keep my modem and buy only wi-fi one. Please tell me the difference and suggest me which one I should go with, and also suggest me which company router I should go for.

  • Laptop won't boot with both memory slots used

    I'm currently trying to upgrade my old Sony Vaio VGN-SZ1HP/B to 2GB of RAM. It already had 1GB of Crucial RAM in one of its slots, and one empty. I checked on Crucial.com and it confirms that each bank can hold 1GB of PC2-5300. The 1GB stick already installed was this, but Crucial's page recommended this... The two are identical from what I can make out, so I just ordered another one of the former. Unfortunately the machine refuses to even POST with both sticks installed. If I remove the old RAM from Slot 1 and replace it with the new RAM it runs fine. If I leave Slot 1 empty and put RAM (either stick) in Slot 2, it won't POST. Basically it seems that Slot 2 just isn't working properly. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem? Or maybe have any experience with this sort of thing with Sony Vaios? Thanks for any help!

  • Windows 7 64-bit installation from alternative media (no DVD/USB Flash drive)

    Greetings I currently have Windows 7 x86 installed on my computer. I want to install Windows 7 x64 on a different partition on my computer. However there is a little issue, I cannot run the x64 install from Windows 7 x86 which I currently have. I was planning to Install Windows 7 x64 on another partition to then boot up from that partition to install it on the partition I actually want my OS on. Once that is complete I could just format the partition from the Windows 7 x64 that I didn't need anymore. But the installer will not run from the x86 version of Windows 7 even though I do not want to upgrade that Windows directly. The reason I'm doing this in such a weird way is that my optical drive is broken and I'm really not into buying a new one since I would use it like once every year or so. I also don't have a USB Flash Drive which is big enough to hold the installation files. As far as I'm aware I cannot use an external hard drive such as this one, which I do have. Are there any alternatives in which I can install Windows 7 x64 or am I forced into buying a USB Flash Drive or new optical drive? Thank you in advance for your replies. Edit: This picture shows my current partitions on my laptop. I want to get Windows 7 x64 on the C partition but have to install it first on the F partition to then boot up the F partition windows to format C and install x64 on that one. My external drive is J. Edit 2: No alternative computer which has a DVD drive, install files are located on an iso from MA3D. To install my 32 bit version I mounted the ISO in Daemon Tools to replace my Windows Vista but since I cannot run 64 bit into my 32 bit OS this doesn't work.
