  • How to avoid re-drawing all views in an ArrayAdapter

    Hey all, I have an ArrayAdapter powering a ListView. I would like to change the data behind the ArrayAdapter and update the ListView's. Sounds like notifyDataSetChanged(); would be exactly what I am looking for, but it updates the entire ListView, and I would prefer to update on a row-by-row basis. Is there a way to do this with ArrayAdapter, or do I need to manage my data some other way if I want this functionality?

    What would be the settings to build and have accepted an universal app for both the iPad and iPhone? That is, what would be the settings in Project X Info Build for Architectures [ARCHS] ("Standard(armv6)" or "Optimized(armv6 armv7)" or other) Valid Architectures [VALID_ARCHS] ("armv6 armv7" or other) Build Active Architecture Only (checked or unchecked) and what would we select in the dropdown (Device - 3.2|Distribution|armv?) ? We're either getting warnings at build time that we haven't built for armv7, or the app upload is rejected on account of "The binary you uploaded was invalid. When supporting iPhone, the executable must include support for the armv6 architecture". Thank you for your help.

  • JSON array deserialization is crashing the Dalvik VM

    I have some code grabbing a JSON array from my server and initially storing it as a string. This all works fine until I try and deserialize it using google's gson fromJson method. LogCat spits out the error: 04-08 17:46:35.163: ERROR/dalvikvm(401): Can't shrink stack: curFrame is in reserved area (0x41049000 0x410491c4) My code that causes the error is: String[] results = gson.fromJson(returnString, String[].class); Can anyone shed some light on what I am doing wrong?     I would like to capture long click events in a ListView, which was easily done using a OnItemLongClickListener. However, that lacks the fading animation of the selector transitioning to a long press that is seen when the long click is handled by onCreateContextMenu. How can I get that animation using OnItemLongClickListener?

    i use telephony manager for to ger the phone number, in sdk all work perfectly, on some device like my hero with 1.5 it return null, on the tattoo with 1.6 it work but on some other tattoo it return null.....I start to be crazy....why happen this?   • Install app on Motorola Backflip from AT&T

    I'm trying to test an app out on the Motorola Backflip with AT&T as the carrier. I checked USB debugging on the phone's Development screen. Using Eclipse, how do I get the app to load on the Backflip so I can test it? DDMS shows a device with a bunch of question marks and unkown. Seems that it only gives me the option to load the app on the SD card which doesn't do me any good. I searched and found a Motorola driver which I'm supposed to install to the adb folder. Where is that folder? I've checked the phone and on my development machine. Maybe I need new glasses?

    I have written an iPhone and iPad universal app which runs fine in the iPad simulator on Xcode, but I would now like to test the iPhone functionality. I seem unable to run the iPhone simulator with this code as it always defaults to the iPad? Instead I tried to run on the device and as it begins to run I get the following error: dyld: Symbol not found: _OBJC_CLASS_$_UISplitViewController Referenced from: /var/mobile/Applications/9770ACFA-0B88-41D4-AF56-77B66B324640/Test.app/Test Expected in: /System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/UIKit in /var/mobile/Applications/9770ACFA-0B88-41D4-AF56-77B66B324640/Test.app/TEST As the App is built programmatically rather than using XIB's, I've split the 2 device logics using the following lines in the main.m method: if (UI_USER_INTERFACE_IDIOM() == UIUserInterfaceIdiomPad) { retVal = UIApplicationMain(argc, argv, nil, @"AppDelegate_Pad"); } else { retVal = UIApplicationMain(argc, argv, nil, @"AppDelegate_Phone"); } From that point forth they use different AppDelegates and I've checked my headers to ensure the UISplitView is never used nor imported via the Phone logic. How do I avoid this error and is there a better way to split the universal logic paths in this programmatically-created app?

    I get this weird error everytime I debug in eclipse. It just seemed to appear one day and I was wondering if anyone else was running int the same problem. It does not affect my app in anyway visibly and does not cause a crash but it is an annoyance while debugging.     You know in MS Word, you can write text and draw&put shapes anywhere you want.. in the text when you hit enter and get to a new line, the shapes below your cursor also moves down one line? I want to implement that property in Java on a pane, using components as the shapes and text. How can I provide absolute positioning for shapes but at the same time preserve the space between them? I'll appreciate any idea, cause I'm almost out of ideas.

    I would like to eventually create a managerial program that shares and updates information for multiple computers that are on the same network. I am fairly familiar with Python, C++ and a bit of Java, is there a library I could use with any of these languages to design such a program? I could probably create the local interface from where I am right now, but when it comes to packing and sharing data I could not be more clueless; any advice would be platinum. The program will need to differentiate between administrative and user access if that makes a difference.

    Hi, I have an XML layout which contains a TableLayout with an unknown number of TableRows... The number of Rows will be established durin runtime, what I do know though is that I want two columns... So I have a couple of questions regarding this : - is there a way to set the whole TableLayout to have 2 columns ? - is there a way programmatically to give an id to the (during runtime) created TableRows which will be placed within the TableLayout, so I can reference them later on from other parts of the software ?

  • Simple Xml list parsing problem

    I have this xml: <root> <fruitlist> <apple>4</apple> <apple>5</apple> <orange>2</orange> <orange>6</orange> </fruitlist> </root> I'm writing a parser class, although I can't figure out how to deal with multiple node types. I can easily parse a list that contains only one node type (eg. just apples, not oranges) @ElementList(name = "fruitlist") private List<Apple> exercises; with more than one node type it also wants so parse non Apple nodes which doesn't work. I also tried to make another list for oranges, but it doen't work, I can't use fruitlist name more than once. @ElementList(name = "fruitlist", entry = "orange") private List<Orange> exercises; The ideal would be two seperate list for both node types.
