• Clickonce installation fails after addition of WCF service project

  So I have a winform solution, deployed via clickonce. Eveything worked fine until i added a WCF project. (see error in parsing the manifest file at end of post) Now I notice that MSBuild compiles the service into a _PublishedWebsites dir. I don't know what the need for this is, but I am suspecting this is the cause of the problem. This wcf project references some other projects within the solution. I am actually hosting the wcf service within the application so I don't really need MSBuild to do all this for me.   I can connect fine with normal ado.net. • JSF SSL Hazzard

  In my application it is required that only certain pages need to be secured using SSL so I configured it security-constraint> <display-name>Security Settings</display-name> <web-resource-collection> <web-resource-name>SSL Pages</web-resource-name> <description/> <url-pattern>/*.jsp</url-pattern> <http-method>GET</http-method> <http-method>POST</http-method> </web-resource-collection> <user-data-constraint> <description>CONFIDENTIAL requires SSL</description> <transport-guarantee>CONFIDENTIAL</transport-guarantee> </user-data-constraint> and added filter http://blogs.sun.com/jluehe/entry/how_to_downshift_from_https but only one hazard is there. I am using it with richFaces. Once it goes to HTTPS its not changing the page—I mean if I perform post action it doesn't actually happen. But if I do it from the local machine's browser it works perfectly, from a remote browser it stucks with HTTPS and not changing after that. • Asp.net mvc application deployment / security issues

  I'll start with appologies; I wasn't sure if this was best posted here of Server Fault so if its in the wrong place then please move :-) Basic information I have written the first module of a new application at work. This is written using Visual Studio 2010, targetting .net 3.5 (at the moment) and asp.net mvc 2. This has been working fine during development running on the built in Development server from VS but however does not work once deployed to IIS 7/7.5. To deploy the application, I have built it in release mode and created a deployment package by right clicking on the project in the solution explorer (this will be done with an automated build in tfs once upgrade from the beta). This has then been imported into IIS on the server. The application is using windows/domain authentication. Issue #1 I can fire up internet explorer and browse to the application from a client computer as well as on a remote desktop connection. I can execute the code which reads/stores data in Session fine from the IE instance on the remote desktop but if I browse to it from the client pc it seems to lose the session state. I click on the form submit and the page refreshes and doesn't execute the required code. I've tried setting with; InProc, SQLServer and StateServer. but with no luck :-( Issue #2 As part of the application it views PDF and Tiff documents on the fly which are on a network share on the office network and creates thumbnails if the document hasn't been viewed before. This works if running on the machine the application is deployed to; however when browsing from a client pc I get an error saying: Access to the path '\\fileserver\folder\file.tif' is denied Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path '\\fileserver\folder\file.TIF' is denied. ASP.NET is not authorized to access the requested resource. Consider granting access rights to the resource to the ASP.NET request identity. ASP.NET has a base process identity (typically {MACHINE}\ASPNET on IIS 5 or Network Service on IIS 6) that is used if the application is not impersonating. If the application is impersonating via , the identity will be the anonymous user (typically IUSR_MACHINENAME) or the authenticated request user. As this is on a different server the user is not accessible. To get round this I have tried: 1 - setting the application pool to run as domain administrator (I know this is a security risk, but I'm just trying to get it to work at the moment!) 2 - to set the log on account for World Wide Web Publishing service to be the domain admin . When trying to restart the service I get ... Windows could not start the World Wide Web Publishing Service service on the Local Computer. Error 1079: The account specified for this service is different from the account specified fro the other services running in the same process. Any pointers/help would be much appriciated as I'm pulling my hair out (of what little I have left). Update I've been using this funky little tool I found - DelegConfig v2 beta (Delegation / Kerberos Configuration Tool). This has been really usefull. So I've got the accessing of the file share working (there is a test page which will read the files) so now I've just got the issue of passing through the users credentials through to the SQL Server (wans't my choice to do it this way!!) to execute the queries etc. but I can't get it to log on as the user. It tries to access it as "NT Authority\Network Service" which doesn't have a sql login (as should be the logged on user). My connection string is: <add name="User" connectionString="Data Source=.;Integrated Security=True" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> No initial catalog is specified as the system is over multiple dbs (also wasn't my choice!!). I really appriciate all the help so far! :-) Any further hints?!

• WCF via SSL connectivity problems

  Hello, I am hosting a WCF service from inside a Windows service using WAS. When I set the service to listen on 127.0.0.1, I have connectivity from my local machine as well as from my network. However, when I set it to listen on my outbound interface port 443, I can no longer even see the wsdl by connecting with a browser. Strangely, I can connect to the service by using telnet. The cert I am using was generated for my interface by a CA, and I have successfully used this exact cert with this service before. When checking the application log, I see that the service starts without error and is listening on the correct interface. From this information, it seems to me that the config file is in a valid state, but somehow misconfigured for what I want. I have, however, previously deployed this same setup on other sites using this config file. In case it is helpful, below is my config file.   hi guys, I have to create a script that takes a mySQL table, and exports it into .XSL format, and then saves that file into a specified folder on the web host. I got it working, but now I can't seem to get it to automatically save the file to the location without prompting the user. It needs to run every day at a specified time, so it can save the previous days leads into a .XSL file on the web host.   Below are the only instructions i managed to find from google on how to install the android NDK, it is written as if we all run Linux and presumes we all understand what these obscure tools are. My comments and questions appear in Italics if somone who knows unix and windows would translate for google that would be great! Android NDK Installation Introduction: Please read docs/OVERVIEW.TXT to understand what the Android NDK is and is not. This file gives instructions on how to properly setup your NDK. I. Requirements: The Android NDK currently requires a Linux, OS X or Windows host operating system. Windows users will need to install Cygwin (http://www.cygwin.com) to use it. Note that running the NDK under MSys is not supported. You will need to have the Android SDK and its dependencies installed. The NDK cannot generate final application packages (.apk files), only the shared library files that can go into them. IMPORTANT: The Android NDK can only be used to target system images using the Cupcake (1.5) or later releases of the platform. This is due to subtle toolchain and ABI related changed that make it incompatible with 1.0 and 1.1 system images. The NDK requires GNU Make 3.81 or later being available on your development system. Earlier versions of GNU Make might work but have not been tested. You can check this by running 'make -v' from the command-line. The output should look like: GNU Make 3.81 Copyright (C) 2006 Free Software Foundation, Inc. ... On certain systems, GNU Make might be available through a different command like 'gmake' or 'gnumake'. Great some strange thing called gnu make.. if your not going to tell me what it does maybe you then at least you could give me a URL to it? The NDK also requires a Nawk or GNU Awk executable being available on your development system. Ok another tool, with 1 of 2 possible names, but not the third... and again where should i download this?? On Windows, you will need to install a recent release of Cygwin to use the NDK.   I apologise for the rambling nature of this question, please bear with me and I'll provide all the extra info needed for you to stop me going mad from failing at something that looks inherently very straightforward... I've just installed CakePHP 2.2, and the first thing I've done is add the cakeDC Users plugin. It's all working, apart from sending an email verification when a user registers. I've tried so many combinations of different things in email.php, that I have now utterly got my knickers in a twist. Whatever I do, when the verification email should be sent, all I get is: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. • Broken corba object references

  I'm working on a homework and got stuck. The task is to serve objects using a default servant. But when I try to use the reference, weird things happen. Some part of corba prints a stack trace, but no exception is thrown. The problem happens when the server receives the reference and should call some method on it. The reference is then shortened and doesn't contain the object ID (which means that my servant implementation can't do anything reasonable). My problem is in the dynamic / premium part. I am trying to do the following: 1) in the dynamic controller, lookup the username. 2) if the username is in the user list (database), show the Index ActionResult of the Dynamic controller. 3) if the username is not found, look up the username in the premium list 4) if the username is fund in the premium list (database) then show the Index ActionResult of the Preium controller. 5) If all else fails jump to the 404 page (which will ask the user to sign up) Is this possible? Looking up the user twice is a bad idea for performance? How do I do this without redirecting?

• Unable to browse some pdfs and docs.

  I have a web site that uses Microsoft Indexing Service to index and query a directory that holds various documents of type pdf, rtf, mht, and doc. The indexing and querying works well (for the most part); however, some files will load while others will not. This is a Windows Server 2003 box running the site using IIS 6. The indexed directory is a sub directory off of the site's root directory (i.e. http://my.domain.com/files/). The file paths are accurate in the URL; however, I can only access some of the files of each file type. The files that I cannot access give a 404 File Not Found. I am able to open all files via windows explorer;however, attempting to open them via a browser over http is hit and miss. Has anyone experienced this issue and know how to resolve it? Anyone have any idea why I could access some files but not others? Does anyone have any recommendations on what to look into to try this (i.e. does owner matter or something like that?)? • Limiting TCP sends with a "to-be-sent" queue and other design issues.

  Hello all! This question is the result of two other questions I've asked in the last few days. I'm creating a new question because I think it's related to the "next step" in my understanding of how to control the flow of my send/receive, something I didn't get a full answer to yet. I have several threads that process notifications from the completion port. I believe the question is platform-independent and would have the same answer as if to do the same thing on a *nix, *BSD, Solaris system. So, I need to have my own flow control system. Fine. So I send send and send, a lot. How do I know when to start queueing the sends, as the receiver side is limited to X amount? Let's take an example (closest thing to my question): FTP protocol. I have two servers; One is on a 100Mb link and the other is on a 10Mb link. I order the 100Mb one to send to the other one (the 10Mb linked one) a 1GB file. It finishes with an average transfer rate of 1.25MB/s. How did the sender (the 100Mb linked one) knew when to hold the sending, so the slower one wouldn't be flooded? Another way to ask this: Can I get a "hold-your-sendings" notification from the remote side? Is it built-in in TCP or the so called "reliable network protocol" needs me to do so? Again, I have a loop with many sends to a remote server, and at some point, within that loop I'll have to determine if I should queue that send or I can pass it on to the transport layer (TCP). How do I do that? What would you do? Of course that when I get a completion notification from IOCP that the send was done I'll issue other pending sends, that's clear. Another design question related to this: Since I am to use a custom buffers with a send queue, and these buffers are being freed to be reused (thus not using the "delete" keyword) when a "send-done" notification has been arrived, I'll have to use a mutual exlusion on that buffer pool. Using a mutex slows things down, so I've been thinking; Why not have each thread have its own buffers pool, thus accessing it , at least when getting the required buffers for a send operation, will require no mutex, because it belongs to that thread only. The buffers pool is located at the thread local storage (TLS) level. No mutual pool implies no lock needed, implies faster operations BUT also implies more memory used by the app, because even if one thread already allocated 1000 buffers, the other one that is sending right now and need 1000 buffers to send something will need to allocated these to its own.   hi guys, I have to create a script that takes a mySQL table, and exports it into .XSL format, and then saves that file into a specified folder on the web host. I got it working, but now I can't seem to get it to automatically save the file to the location without prompting the user. It needs to run every day at a specified time, so it can save the previous days leads into a .XSL file on the web host. • Make wix installation set upgrade to same folder

  How can I make a major upgrade to an installation set (MSI) built with Wix install into the same folder as the original installation? The installation is correctly detected as an upgrade, but the directory selection screen is still shown and with the default value (not necessarily the current installation folder). Do I have to do manual work like saving the installation folder in a registry key upon first installing and then read this key upon upgrade? If so, is there any example? Or is there some easier way to achieve this in MSI / Wix?
