• mini-dinstall chmod 0600 changes file: Operation not permitted

  I'm getting "Operation not permitted" in the mini-dinstall.log everytime a new debian package has been uploaded on the custom debian repository using dput. The deb file is installed successfuly but the changes file remains in the incoming folder. I can not use a post-install script when the changes file can not be processed. How can I fix this problem? With that I wasn't able to send emails in bulk in cases like "newsletters" and "invitations to join my site". • Can you link to a good MySQL dumper PHP script?

  I need to migrate a website to another host. I have only FTP server access and MySQL name+pass (the MySQL server's IP I was provided is 127.0.0.1, and there's neither PhpMyAdmin nor SSHell to use). A web app run there can access the DB using credentials I know and localhost server. So I'd need a PHP script, that will correctly dump all the available databases of the MySQL server so that they can be imported on the new server. Can you recommend a good one?

Below is server specs: OS Freebsd 7.2 MySQL 5.1.33 Apache 2.2.11 PHP 5.2.9 I can do alias directory in my httpd.conf so that my domain can have subdirectory hosting in the same server such as httpd://domain.com/subdomain1, httpd://domain.com/subdomain2 and so on. All my subdomain1 and subdomain2 directory folders reside on the same web server but only different location. • Eliminate default SSL certificate

  I'm setting up a server for local access. I created a CA and have SSL certs signed and working on other domains. The problem is I'm trying to create a cert for a domain name that is the same as the host name? I copied the steps to make the cert for the other domain, but when I create and sign this cert, and modify httpd.conf with the path to the cert and key, the localhost.localdomain cert seems to be taking precedence. In other words, when I view the cert in firefox, it is the localhost.localdomain cert instead of the one I just created. I looked at ssl.conf, and tried to change the default path to the one issued, and I tried to comment out the VirtualHost, but neither worked. How can I override the servers default certificate with the one I issued and signed? Thanks.

  I have the latest VirtualBox. I have filters for the iPad. But it does not show up in my virtual Windows vista My Computer screen or virtual iTunes. • Scheduling VMWare ESXi 4.1 VM Restart

  We had a virtual machine running on a VMWare Server host on Windows Server 2003. The machine is set up with non persistent disks. We had a windows task schedule set up that ran a batch file to reset the machine each week so that it returned to it's original state. The batch file that we had running was: "C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Server\vmware-cmd" "C:\Virtual Machines\VirtualMachineName\VirtualMachineName.vmx" stop hard "C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Server\vmware-cmd" "C:\Virtual Machines\VirtualMachineName\VirtualMachineName1.vmx" start We have since migrated this machine to the free version of ESXi 4.1. Can anyone let me know if and how it is possible to schedule such a restart?

  Currently we have a Linux-based firewall which NAT-ing our public IP address to give internet access to our staff's PCs and a Windows Server 2003 for internal filesharing.   I have created a self-signed root certificate authority which if I install onto windows, linux, or even using the certificate store in firefox (windows/linux/macosx) will work perfectly with my terminating proxy. I have installed it into the system keychain and I have set the certificate to always trust. Within the chrome browser details it says "The certificate that Chrome received during this connection attempt is not formatted correctly, so Chrome cannot use it to protect your information. Error type: Malformed certificate" I used this code to create the certificate: openssl genrsa -des3 -passout pass:***** -out private/server.key 4096 openssl req -batch -passin pass:***** -new -x509 -nodes -sha1 -days 3600 -key private/server.key -out server.crt -config ../openssl.cnf If the issue is NOT that it is malformed (because it works everywhere else) then what else could it be? • Prevent auto forwarding NDR loops

  a week ago we experienced a really sweet problem at a client of ours. They are a school with around 1200 users, and everyone of them has auto forwarding for all mail activated. We use Exchange 2010 Now a few of the users where able to make NDR loops by adding 2 different, wrong, destinations. We had around 80k mails sent within a few hours. Not very practical. My question is, does anyone know a good way to prevent something like this. I have found 2 ways, which both fail for their own reasons We could manage the auto forwarding on the exchange host itself, which should prevent this looping problem someone said. But 1200 Users, not on my watch. • Windows 7 "Could not reconnect all network drives" on boot

  Windows 7 won't reconnect to my network drives on startup. Once it is done booting opening Windows Explorer and clicking each share will mount them. Windows 7 Enterprise N Service Pack 1 I have attempted formatting the windows machine - first thing done to machine was to map the network drives, upon reboot they were disconnected. It is running on an Crucial M4 64gb SSD. The host of the network shares is a Ubuntu-Server machine connected through a gigabit switch. A modem provides dhcp, although both these machines have static IP's defined. It won't reconnect the drives regardless of whether they're SAMBA shares or NFS shares - therefore I believe it's an issue with the windows machine. Ubuntu 11.10 (GNU/Linux 3.0.0-12-server x86_64) I've tried using ip address instead of netbios name for mapping shares on the windows machine, Also tried setting EnableLinkedConnections=1 gpedit.msc Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates - System-Logon - always wait for the network at computer startup and logon = yes

  We are using Redhat 6.3 with 30G RAM to host our Postgres server. The (default) shmmax value is 68,719,476,736 In some forums I have read that having an shmmax value larger than the RAM causes extensive paging, but in the Redhat forums it warns against changing a kernel parameter that is already configured to a value larger than the minimum requirements for an environment. In ServerFault I've read that this probably has no impact. So is there any impact of having shmmax value RAM in a DB server, or the kernel understands this and handles it appropriately? Thanks

• I need a few minutes of dedicated server a week, but not for hosting, just to convert ogg etc

  I'm completely happy with my webhosting, it's just that I need to do one little thing they won't allow, and that's run an instance of Sox to convert about 30 mp3s to ogg files, in various directories, a couple of times a week, to be done automatically in response to the detection of the upload of an mp3. Probably looking at a minute of server time over the whole week. I've had unhelpful suggestions on other forums like "why not leave your home PC on 24 hours a day and then use all your isp bandwidth to do this", which doesn't work for me. I know that I can host files on, say, Amazon S3, but is there something similar for my needs? All it would need to do would be: wget/ftp the mp3 files, convert them to ogg, ftp the files back to my hosting. Of course, all this wouldn't be needed if there was such a thing as a compiled binary of Sox (or any mp3ogg converter) for Centos which I could upload without needing root access, but I've given up asking that one, but always open to suggestions!

  We have web application that runs under Tomcat in a local network. Our customers experience strange problem using this web application. Let's say Tomcat server runs on host1 and we open webapp URL in browser on host2. Any browser on host 2 starts opening page and downloading of content "hangs" for hours. We've made bunch of experiments and found that any content larger than 2000 bytes makes browser request hang. Tried in Internet Explorer 8, Opera 12, Firefox. At the same time if user opens website from internet, it works. Opening webapp from the same host1 where Tomcat is running works normally. Local network is organized with D-Link DGS-3120-48TC switch. Additional info. During experiments we've noticed XP Tweaker installed on hosts. Network settings from that tool: MTU is manually set to 1500 RWIN = 14600 Support of TCP frames larger than 64 KB is on Time to Live = 32 SACK is on

• Unable to create a Windows 7 system image of a failing hard drive

  The hard disk of my one year old T400 Thinkpad has started failing periodic hardware tests. I get a "Targeted Read Test Failed" error. The "SMART short self test" times out. I am now trying to create a Windows 7 System image of the hard disk but it fails without giving any specific error messages. I tried using Comodo Backup but got an error (code 101117) there as well. I have copied the important files in Dropbox but would like to take a full System backup as I have plenty of software installed on the machine. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can take a backup of the system image ?
