• Neverwinter Nights does not run in 12.10

  I recently installed a fresh version of Ubuntu 12.10 on my notebook. Then I copied the backup copy of my nwn folder from my old 12.04 install on the same computer to the new installation and tried to start the game. The terminal prompt disappears and top shows some low activity on nwmain, but there is neither showing up the game graphics nor plays any music. Any suggestions how to fix it? The game runs fine using the same setup expect for running on 12.04. Kind regards and thanks in advance

  If you have Oracle E-Business Suite's Cash Management (CE) application installed, you'll want to be sure to install the latest CPC (Consolidated Patch Collection) if you are using a R12.0 version of the apps, or the latest RPC (Recommended Patch Collection) for the R12.1 version of the apps. These collections give you all the fixes currently available for known issues in the specified versions of the application, including all of the latest Root Cause Analysis Fixes (RCAs)! What is an "RPC" (for R12.1 users)? Since the release of 12.1, a number of recommended patches for Oracle Cash Management have been made available as standalone patches to help address important business process issues. Adoption of these patches was highly recommended at the time, but not always implemented, so to further facilitate adoption of these patches, Oracle consolidated them into product-specific Recommended Patch Collections (RPCs) - a collection of recommended patches.   I am trying to recreate a Multiplayer version of the popular flash game N in java. I have a single question however. Are the tiles for the games draw or are they defined with mathamatical formulars/In code? Since I do see how they would scale up in flash if they were not.   I recently worked on a project to create a custom content folio renderer in WebCenter Content. It needed to output the native files in the folio along with a manifest file in HTML format which would list the contents of the folio along with any designated metadata and a relative link to the file within the download.  This way a person could hand someone the folio download and it would be a self-contained package with all of the content and a single file to display the information on the contents.  The default Zip rendition of the folio will output the web-viewable version of the file with an HDA formatted file for each one.   I have nearly ended my journey of making a dual-boot windows xp and ubuntu computer. Along with version 12.04, came the problem with my NetGear WNDA3100v2 wireless adapter. It wasn't compatible. My last step in my adventure is to install the software called Windows Wireless Drivers. I have internet access on my laptop and a flash drive. It would be preferable to receive a link to this program, because I see no link on the website, and I can't download it from the Ubuntu Software Center. Thanks.

  In the past I've done a 2D tile map using HTML, CSS and Javascript. Now I have the task of creating a 3D version using the same technologies - think of it like a space map where all planets have x/y/z positions. Currently, I have no idea to do this. Is there an existing library or something I can modify to do my job? If not, what method of rendering the map should I use? It needs to be as browser independent as possible, so I can't use webgl, flash or canvas. I'm considering plain JS & HTML or SVG (using Raphael for compatibility).

• Why can't I mount the Ubuntu 12.04 installer ISOs in Mac OS X?

  Over the past few days, I have downloaded both the 32 and 64 bit version of server and desktop to install on an Intel based PC. It is normal from within OS X to double click on an ISO and it will mount the ISO in the finder as well as within disk utility. When I attempt to mount any of the Ubuntu ISOs I downloaded, OS X returns the error message The following disk images couldn't be opened. The reason given for the error is no mountable filesystem. However, I am still able to open the ISO directly from disk utility and burn it to a DVD/CD. What has changed in this release to cause this? Is there something wrong with the current ISOs? The OS X machine I am using is only two weeks old and is having no issues with any other ISO.

• Do you use i-->0 for backward loops?

  Some people write for (int i=N; i-->0; ) doSomething(i); instead of for (int i=N-1; i>=0; --i) doSomething(i); for backward loops. The --> "operator"1 looks very confusing at the first glance, but it's trivial: i-->0 simply parses as (i--)>0, and once you get it, you see it immediately. The main disadvantage is the strange look. The advantage is that you'll get it always right (unlike the more verbose version offering the possibility to forget something, which really happened to me a couple of times). What do you think about using the --> "operator"? 1First time I saw the funny term in a comment to this question today.

  I've been seeing quite an uptick in the people that are wanting to install Solaris 11 when they are doing hardware refreshes.  I applaud that effort - Solaris 11 (and 11.1) have great improvements that advance the state of the art and make the best use of the latest hardware. Sometimes, however, you really don't want to disturb the OS or upgrade to the a later version of an application that is certified with Solaris 11.  That's a great use of Solaris 10 Zones.  If you are already using Solaris Cluster, or would like to have more protection as you put more eggs in an ever growing basket, check out solaris10 Brand Zone Clusters.

  I boot from a DVD the last version of ubuntu 12.04 x64(because i have 8g. of ram) ,hit install Ubuntu ,check Install Along windwos 7(or something like this ,anyway the first option) and the button in the bottom right corner says "Restart to install" or just restart...i cant remember. So ,i hit the button than ,the screen goes black ,some proceses are stopped and on the middle of the screen it writes like this " Please remove installation media and close the tray (if any) then press ENTER: " The DVD rom opens and i remove the dvd ,close the tray ,pushing enter and the windows is starting ,no instalation ,no file copied to my PC ,nothing.

• How can I learn to write idiomatic C++?

  I am a computer science student, and as a result, I was taught C++ as a better version of C with classes. I end up trying to reinvent the wheel whenever a solution to a complex problem is needed, only to find sometime after that, some language feature or some standard library routine could potentially have done that for me. I'm all comfortable with my char* and *(int*)(someVoidPointer) idioms, but recently, after making a (minor) contribution to an open-source project, I feel that is not how one's supposed to think when writing C++ code. It's much different than C is. Considering that I know objected-oriented programming fairly well, and I am okay with a steep learning curve, what would you suggest for me to get my mind on the C++ track when I'm coding C++?

  Hi all, I'm trying to get Subclipse working in Eclipse Galeilo, and to do that I have to install the JavaHL library. I installed the library using sudo apt-get install libsvn-java, but the eclipse.ini file has to be modified to take in the new library as an argument. First change to the ini file was -Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/jni/, which produced the errors "no libsvnjavahl-1 in java.library.path" "incompatible javahl library loaded. 1.3.x or later required." according to the install printout, version 1.6.12 was installed. So, I added libsvnjavahl-1.so to the file path above, and produced the following errors: "no libsvnjavahl-1 in java.library.path" "no svnjavahl-1 in java.library.path" "no svnjavahl in java.library.path" What's going on here?

  Ubuntu 12.10 beta 2 has awfull 3d performance and Video Tearing do something about this. Tearing is common issue on linux and makes linux sucks. Ubuntu also is bloated and uses compiz , i hope ubuntu developers should be more serious cause even a noob should know that compiz sucks now. I have no screen tearing and full opengl 3d performance on cinnamon ! And thats why i like linux mint 13. Ubuntu is so slow applications launching time is bigger compared to linux mint or xubuntu and many many times slower compared to arch linux. I was sattisfied before the 12.04 version now i'm just dissapointed..... (downvoters are simply noobs or silly fanboys and they deserve ubuntu)
