  These details don't matter but I am on a Ubuntu 12.04 machine and I want to ssh into my RaspberryPi without a password. I followed the standard procedure for setting up ssh without a password: local $ ssh-keygen -t rsa (hit enter for defaults to the questions) local $ scp ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub matt@raspihost:~/.ssh/authorized_keys I logged onto the raspihost and checked all my permissions on ~/.ssh/ and on the authorized_keys file itself. It was still not working!

  How can I get pam_env to read the user's .pam_environment file, if the user's file is located in a kerberized NFS4 mount? The file and directory permissions for the .pam_environment file are set in a way, that allows the local root to read the file. Reading .pam_environment only fails on the first login. Subsequent logins successfully read the file. The client uses Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop, NFS/Kerberos server is 12.04 Server. The Kerberos/NFS4 stuff works with exception of this.   I like the system of multiple gmail labels but am concerned about space used. I think that TB stores a separate copy of the whole email in every folder corresponding to a gmail label [including a copy in the "allmail" folder along with a separate copy in the each of the other folders]. Can I arrange to store a single copy of the email in TB,[perhaps in the allmail folder] with a shortcut type pointer from the individual folders to that single copy.[i.e for every email with one gmail label [eg personal] there are already 2 copies in TB, one in the allmail folder and a second in the "personal" folder

• How do you splice out a part of an xvid encoded avi file, with ffmpeg? (no problems with other files

  Im using the following command, which works for most files, except what seems to be xvid encoded ones /usr/bin/ffmpeg -sameq -i file.avi -ss 00:01:00 -t 00:00:30 -ac 2 -r 25 -copyts output.avi So this should basically splice out 30 seconds of video + audio, starting from 1 minute mark. It does START encoding at the 00:01:00 mark but it goes all the way to the end of the file for some reason, ignoring that I want just 30 seconds. The output looks like this. • Restore Failure from Ubuntu One

  Had to do a reinstall of Ubuntu 12 after 13.10 failed. Lost all my data, but I remembered that I had data backed up to Ubuntu One. It recognized my previous backups but I got errors and a restore failure when I went to restore the data. This is what I got. Can anyone make heads or tails of this? I still don't have my data.   I've googled 2 days straight and I can't find how to do this. I have an open stream between client and server, and client will send a JSON string (encrypted to bytes) to the server each 3 to 5 seconds. How can I write to the Socket OutputStream so that I can read each JSON string in the server. I'm guessing I need to specify some kind of end of file or something, but can't find any info on how to achieve this.

• Does Win 7 still requires copying all files over before burning to a DVD-R or BD-R?

  It seems that Win 7 still needs to copy all files over to a folder, before it burns all files to the DVD-R or BD-R? I think since XP or Vista, Windows always copy everything over to a temporary folder before it will burn to an empty DVD-R. So if you just want to burn a 4GB file to an empty DVD-R, it will first make a copy of that file, and then burn it, instead of just burning it without making a copy first. And now on Win 7, it seems like it is the case also? Most other 3rd party burning tools won't make an extra copy of the files first... Win 7 is the exception. Is there a way around it? (to avoid copying over 25GB or 50GB of data before burning)

  I have installed ubuntu-one on a Lubuntu machine and indeed the file syncing works for all the folder that are shared. My problem is that while on my ubuntu machine I can right click a folder and mark it as shared, I could not find a way to do the same under pcmanfm. The only workaround I was able to find is to use the daemon via command-line: u1sdtool --create-folder . which works but is kind of clumsy.... any way to integrate in the GUI?

  A common behavior in business applications that have developed through the ages is for a user to be able to get information or execute commands in relation to some information/function displayed by right clicking the object in question and popping up a context menu that offers relevant options to choose. The Silverlight Toolkit April 2010 release introduced the context menu object.  This can be added to other UI objects and display options for the user to choose.  The menu items can be enabled or disabled as per your application logic and icons can be added to the menu items to add visual effect.  This post will walk you through how to use the context menu object from the Silverlight Toolkit. Steps: 1. Create a new Silverlight 4 application 2. Copy the following namespace definition to the user control object of the MainPage.xaml file: xmlns:my="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.Input.Toolkit"   3. Copy the following XAML into the LayoutRoot grid in MainPage.xaml:          <Border CornerRadius="15" Background="Blue" Width="400" Height="100">             <TextBlock Foreground="White" FontSize="20" Text="Context Menu In This Border...."   I'm using Maverick with the latest available kernels on kernel.org and building them myself. Until now I've been basing my configuration off the stock Maverick kernel and accepting the make oldconfig defaults. I've been doing this for 3 major releases now so I figure I'm starting to slip behind the current "standard". I would like to re-base my kernels off the new Natty .config file. Is this available somewhere online or do I have to download the whole kernel package and extract it?

• .bashrc doesn't get sourced after su'ing to root

  I've got a CentOS 5.6 VPS and both root and my normal user account have identical copies of a .bashrc file in their home directories. The file contains a few basic aliases, etc. If I login to root, root's copy gets sourced. If I login to myuser, myuser's copy gets sourced If I su to root after logging into myuser, then all the aliases, etc inside myuser's copy get removed, and root's copy doesn't get sourced. If I then manually source root's copy, the command completes without any errors, but none of the aliases's etc get applied. I've searched Google and Server Fault, but haven't found any solutions. Does anyone know how to fix that?

  Copying 4GB from a USB flash drive to my Linux partition. The flash drive is NTFS formatted (I believe, it's Windows formatted). The transfer is incredibly slow and blocks the computer frequently causing lag and hanging applications. My transfer rate is 1.2 MB/sec and that is the max it has hit when I let the File Operations window have focus. Why is this so slow under Ubuntu and significantly faster in Win 7?

I tried Set the following registry key to ’1': HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\LargeSystemCache and set the following registry key to ’3': HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters\Size but still im unbale to copy file from my host machine i.e. Windows XP to my Ubuntu machine ( which is at Virtual Machine) Im trying to copy jdk-1_5_0_22-linux-i586.bin file whose size is 47.4 MB Is there any other work around for this problem????
