  Are there any real stories about computer crime? I'm talking about stuff like in "Office Space", stealing fractions of pennies a couple of million times... Like that, only actual events. And not Captain Crunch, please, making phone calls for free does not count. No, actual robberies or super smart frauds that depended on computer technology to some extent.   I would like to develop a small notifications application for Windows in .NET that docks on the right/left side of the screen (not consuming more than 300px), should always be visible and force the rest of windows to not overlap this application (something like the old Office taskbar or Vista's Sidebar). • Does using magic_quotes() affect the use of mysql_real_escape_string()

  If I have magic_quotes switched on and I use mysql_real_escape_string, will the tring be double escaped? Will it cause problems? I assume so based on the get_magic_quotes() function but just seeking confirmation. (PS it's easier to ask this question than test it in my office with all the security we have in place - It takes me 10-15 to configure everything to get a useable envirnment)

  We have a managed COM addin for Outlook works flawlessly on a real machine now using VMWare 6.05 I think whe we try and install our addin OL refuses to load us and we keeo seeing a message( when we go to the manage addins dialog) saying a runtime error occurred when loading the COM component Nothing on event viewer We are seeing this on images of Office 2003 and 2007 anyone ever run into something like this where VMWare images are causing issues with OL addins

SELECT * FROM Incident WHERE CONTAINS( (Incident.Description), '"out*"' ) The word 'out' is not in the noise file (I cleared the noise file completely).   I have a Windows 2003 R2 machine that is giving an Event ID 8197 about once an hour and ten minutes. The full error is attached below. The machine is primary used to host IIS webpages and SMTP. I use now an app that remembers their position to restore it... Windows Update service dissapeared, along with BITS service, I managed to recover them and installed all updates availables today I'm going nuts looking for information about these errors.
