  • Triple Boot with Windows 7, Windows 7 and Ubuntu

    Hello, currently I have dual boot with 2 windows 7. (dont ask why, long story, I need them for each with different settings involving Audio Recording) I am very keen to install the new Ubuntu and get into a new OS, out of interest but I don't want to mess with my current 2 windows installations? If I install Ubuntu, will this simply add to my list of OS boot options when you set it, like I did when I install my 2nd Windows 7 Any comments or help would be great? Thanks Bill

  • MySQL keeps adding additional user without rights from specific IP

    I'm running MySQL Server 5.5.29 on Ubuntu Server 13.04 I have a created a user with a wildcard host access % and given him various privileges. However, whenever this user connects from 194.182.245.61, a new user account is created for that specific IP address with no rights and he is unable to exercise his privileges. When he connects from other internet connections, such as his home IP, it works just as it should. Why does this happen and how can I stop it from happening?

    Hi, I'm configurint Postfix to use external smtp. For this, I use the following tutorial: http://carlton.oriley.net/blog/?p=31 After following it, I found in the logs that /etc/postfix/sasl_passwd.db couldn't be read. The file didn't exist. I used postmap hash:/etc/postfix/sasl_passwd (http://postfix.state-of-mind.de/patrick.koetter/smtpauth/smtp_auth_mailservers.html) as root, but I get: postmap: fatal: open database /etc/postfix/sasl_passwd.db: Permission denied Why do I get this?     Trying to use the 7-zip self extracting archive GUI and it fails. When I try to create a "Self Extracting Installer" option, at the end of the install it runs my batch file and it appears to be extracting all the files just before it does that, but after extraction, the files are nowhere to be found (except within the .7z archive).     I understand that LTE and WiMAX are IP-based technologies that do NOT have a voice component unlike the current 3G technologies. So is it like, voice calls in 4G would be completely driven on top of IP? Wouldn't this break backward compatibility with existing 3G technologies? Is this why 4G is taking it took long to take ubiquitous availability?

    I just downloaded Cygwin, I've never used it before cause I've always used putty. Cygwin is not letting me compile; I can see the files but it just doesn't let me compile and I do not understand why, am I doing something wrong?   • Tiff not displaying correctly on Mac OS X

    I have a collection of .tif files but when I open them on Mac OS X 10.5 they show up as solid black and I don't know why. thanks Upon further inspection at really high brightness there are some out of focus objects viewable. It looks as if I am getting the first couple bits of each pixel but not the entire range of values.

  • Set first image as folder preview in Windows 7

    I am trying to customize the way image folders appear in Win7 explorer, but I can't seem to get it under control. Is there a way to force it to always pick the first image in the folder as the preview image? Explorer has perfectly fine natural sort order. I don't understand why it messes it up by picking semi-random images. Thanks!

  • Accessing MySQL server via VPN in python

    Hi I have a MySQL server that I need access through a VPN. I use MySQLdb package to access MySQL server in Python. When I can access the server without VPN, it works fine, but when I'm at certain locations, I need to connect through VPN. My computer is connected to the VPN and I can access the database through PHPMyAdmin, but MySQLdb gives me an error message: OperationalError: (2003, "Can't connect to MySQL server on 'MY_IP' (10061)") Any ideas on why it's not working?     What is the difference between using mod_proxy and mod_rewrite? I have a requirement to send certain url patterns through the tomcat, which runs on the same host but under port 8080. I know this is something for mod_proxy, but I"m wondering why I can't just use mod_rewrite, or what the difference is? Probably has to do w/ reverse proxy, and also when in the pipeline it gets handled? Thanks.

  • Monitor occasionally doesn't display properly

    Hi, I am using dual monitors, and this behavior has occured on 2 different computers (using the same monitors). When I turn the monitors off, and then on again after a while, 1 monitor turns on, displays the Dell logo etc. but doesn't display the windows login. It is just a blank page, and then the green light turns orange. Turning it on/off many times or just waiting a while eventually results in it working again, but I am very confused why!

  • Windows: Making Windows Explorer distinctive (changing background color or file/folder icons) for specific folder

    Is there a way to change the background color in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 when the current folder being displayed meets a certain condition? Or is there a way I can change the icons of the files and folders within that folder so it's distinctive--similar to how Tortoise SVN does it for code checked out from a repository? Why? I'd like to do this for a deployment directory on a live server so users don't accidentally commit code to a certain environment. Like myself. :-)

  • SQL Server Management Studio unable to connect to local instance.

    I'm not a DBA, I'm a developer - and I'm having trouble with SQL Server Management studio. I installed SQL Server 2008 Standard on Windows 2008 Server R2, and according to Sql Server Configuration Manager, I've got two instances: OFFICESERVERS (for sharepoint) and MSSQLSERVER. When I open SQL Server Management Studio I can only discover OFFICESERVERS. I've checked the protocol configuration for both instances and didn't see anything that indicates to me why this would be. Any hints?

  • New monitor connected to HDMI adaptor doesn't show output after booting

    Hello out there in the multiple monitors’ world. I am a very old newbie in your world and need help. I just purchased a new Asus VH236H monitor and hooked it up the HDMI port of an ATI Radeon HD4300 / 4500 Series display adaptor. I left the old Princeton LCD19 (TMDS) hooked up to the DVI port of the same display adaptor. Both monitors displayed the boot sequence, after I fired good old Sarastro2 (Asus P5Q Pro Turbo – Dual Core E5300 – 2.60 GHz) up. The Asus lacked one half of a second behind the Princeton until the Windows 7 Ultimate SP 1 boot up was complete. Then the Asus displayed “HDMI NO SIGNAL” and went into hibernation. The Princeton stayed lit up as before. Both monitors are displayed on the “Screen Resolution Setup Display” and I plaid around with them for a while. The only thing I accomplished was to shove the desktop icons from the Princeton to the still hibernating Asus. The “Multiple displays:” is set to “Extend these displays”, the Orientation is “Landscape” and the Resolutions are set on both to the “recommended” one. Both monitors show that they work properly in the advanced Properties display. What am I doing wrong, what am I missing? Never mind the opinions about the different resolutions of the two monitors. I always can unhook the Princeton and give it to a Goodwill Store if I do not like the setup. I just would like to make it work. Any constructive help is very much appreciated, Thank you. Thank you Anees Bakrain Only the ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series adapter is displayed in the Device Manager, for that reason I have to assume that the onboard display adaptor is not active. All 40 drivers of Sarastro2 are up to date and the HDMI cable can not be the problem because both monitors displayed the boot sequence up to the moment when Windows 7 was loaded completely. This was the moment, when the Asus monitor lost its signal. Both connectors, HDMI and DVI are connected and removing the DVI connector would not solve my problem of running both monitors simultaneously. However, your suggestions shifted my seventy one year old brain into the next gear. The only question remaining is; “Why the signals to the Asus monitor stop after the sequence is complete”. The ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series adapter seems to be capable of sending simultaneous HDMI and DVI signals, what is done during the boot sequence. Why do the signals change after the boot sequence is complete is the key question or der springende Punkt? Is this a correct assumption slhck?

  • How can ASP.NET's "Request Wait Time" be 0 when "Requests Queued" is consistently in the hundreds?

    I'm curious why Performance Monitor claims I always have a few hundred ASP.NET 3.5 requests "queued". The "Requests Queued" "ASP.NET v2.0.50727" performance counter is hovering in the few-hundred range despite the fact "Request Wait Time" is consistently 0. If each and every request never waits even a fraction of a millisecond, how could it be in the queue? The "ASP.NET Apps v2.0.50727" counters for "Requests In Application Queue" and "Request Wait Time" are always 0.
