  • Identify "non-secure" content IE warns about [on hold]

    As many know, if you serve a page over https and the content loads resources (images, stylesheets, js, SWF objects, etc) over http, older versions of Internet Explorer will show the user a warning saying "This page contains both secure and non-secure items". This is discomforting to many non-technical users. Usually, I can look at the HTML source and identify which item(s) are triggering this error. Sometimes a Flash object will load something else or some embedded javascript will put a new object in the DOM and trigger this. What tools are good for quickly tracking down the source of the warning?

  • Ubuntu 12.04 graphics crashing when GVIM opens TEX files

    I am having a little problem everytime I open GVIM to edit *.TEX files.... the menus die, windows jiggle (maximize and minimize quickly) and I get a 'internal error ' crash report from ubuntu (12.04). It says the problem is at /usr/lib/unity/unity-panel-service. Any tips on how to solve this? It might be related to the Latex package of vim (also I get this message when I open gvim (with or without TEX files) on terminal: (gvim:5915): Gnome-WARNING **: Accessibility: failed to find module 'libgail-gnome' which is needed to make this application accessible (gvim:5915): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: cannot retrieve class for invalid (unclassed) type `' Issue is independant of theme I just checked...   • Compare a variable that can have numeric or string as value

    I have a variable named Seconds_Behind_Master from one of my scripts. The problem is that this variable can either have a numeric value or can also take a string NULL as its value. Now, when I try to execute this script in shell it gets executed but gives a warning like this: [: Illegal number: NULL I believe it is due to the fact that in this case the value is NULL but when it compares it with numeral value 60 it gives this warning. How can I rectify it?     As part of a customized media player written in C (Win32), I need to enable my app play flash movies (.swf files) inside the player window. Can someone please indicate the most C compatible low level way to achieve this, giving me highest control? Specially control on display window and network access. I am looking for reference to a Windows DLL like flash_player.dll (if there is such thing) with documentation. Or at least a COM/ActiveX controls. Note that ActiveX is harder to use in C, than in say VB.

  • How to fix additional STA driver installation error on 12.04

    I have a Broadcom BCM4313 wireless driver. It worked fine under 11.04 and the upgrade to 11.10 also went smoothly. The 12.04 upgrade has broken the wireless connection. I've seen several posts about this and all presume you can activate the STA drivers, but that's where it fails on this machine. The log is in /var/log/jockey.log: WARNING: modinfo for module wl failed: ERROR: modinfo: could not find module wl WARNING: /sys/module/wl/drivers does not exist, cannot rebind wl driver DEBUG: BroadcomWLHandler enabled(): kmod disabled, bcm43xx: blacklisted, b43: blacklisted, b43legacy: blacklisted (repeat of last error several times) Any ideas how to proceed?

  • Oneiric updates cause "Window Creation Error" in Second Life client

    With the latest Oneiric updates, I've been unable to use Second Life, a virtual reality simulator, in Ubuntu. I assume it has something to do with the NVidia driver, since the error in the console says: WARNING: createWindow: LLWindowManager::create() : Error creating window. WARNING: LLViewerWindow: Failed to create window, to be shutting Down, be sure your graphics driver is updated I guess I could file a bug on Launchpad, but I'm not sure where to file it. Does anyone have any insight into what may be causing this problem? It was working fine a week ago, and older viewers (Imprudence viewer anyway) still work fine.

  • What to do about this gnome-keyring message?

    I upgraded from ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04 and installed lxde. Since then whenever I try to print some file (or use command lpstat), I get this message on the terminal: "WARNING: gnome-keyring:: couldn't connect to: /tmp/keyring-SZ59jJ/pkcs11: No such file or directory". This is beyond my knowledge and from search I only realize that this mey be related to security (as learned from gnome-keyring on wikipedia). I have no idea what to about this warning. Can anybody please suggest? Evidently as stated, I am not using gnome desktop, I choose lxde session at the time of logging in.

  • SMTP mailbox unavailable - intermittent and self-inflicted

    I have an app that runs daily, sending confirmation emails to dozens of customers. Emails are sent using SMTP with authentication. The app also has some error handling, and occasionally anonymous SMTP is used to notify the webmaster that an e-mail issue has been encountered (a malformed email address, usually). Whenever these warning notifications are sent, the customer notifications that follow throw an error: "Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.7.1 Unable to relay". The customer notification emails are sent, but my app drops into the exception handler. And all subsequent customer notification emails have this problem. Everything is fine next time the programs run, until a webmaster warning email is sent. Anyone have an ideas what would cause this? My first thought was that the client didn't like being switched back and forth between anonymous to authenticated modes. I created a separate client for each mode, but that didn't help.

  • Has the Appindicator or GtkMenu API changed in Saucy?

    I've written a custom application indicator, which isn't working properly on saucy. The menu is initialised with a few items, then updates regularly, adding or removing menu items. This worked fine <13.10, but on 13.10, the line that adds the menu to the indicator produces the following warning: Warning: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.38.0/./gobject/gsignal.c:2475: signal 'child-added' is invalid for instance '0x24390e0' of type 'GtkMenu' self.ind.set_menu(self.menu) And the items added to the menu subsequently dont appear. A bug has been filed against several indicators for the same problem, but it's not clear to me whether this is a problem with the indicators as a result of an API change, or a bug in the GTK or Appindicator libraries. Does anyone know?

  • SCCM 2012 - Windows 8 WSUS

    We're using SCCM 2012 to deploy Windows Updates on our domain, and our Windows 8 clients have started failing with error 80240438 when they try to update. Windows 7 clients update fine, but Windows 8 clients refuse to do anything. I've done a search online and it seems to only reference Windows InTune. Has anyone seen any similar behavior on Windows 8 machines? If we don't get that error, we're getting 80244021 which seems to indicate that the server can't be found.... but they can resolve it just fine and our exceptions are defined on the proxy too.   • Postfix Send Error: Must Issue STARTTLS command

    Running Ubuntu 12.04 and trying to configure postfix to relay send and receive through GMAIL. Am running into connection issues particularly with TLS. Have tried a bunch of troubleshooting solutions and have changed my main.cf to address TLS but still receive the below errors.   • OpenSolaris / Nexenta problems with NetXen 4-port NIC card (ntxn driver)

    Hello, I'm running NexentaStor Enterprise on an HP ProLiant DL180 G6 server. The onboard NIC interfaces surface as igb0 and igb1 and work well. However, I've added an HP NC375T 4-port network card using the NetXen 3031 chipset. This card should be handled by the ntxn driver in the SUNWntxn package, but that results in "ntxn0: failed to map doorbell" messages upon boot. The network interfaces don't show up. After some research, I found HP's driver package for the card. The release notes for the driver package state: This version of the Driver is supported only on Oracle Solaris 10 5/09 & 10/09. Oracle Solaris 10 5/09 & 10/09 contain an older version of NetXen P3 driver package called SUNWntxn. So, adding another version of NetXen P3 driver package using pkgadd command might result in conflicts with the NetXen driver binary & related files. Users are advised to uninstall native SUNWntxn driver package before installing the new package.     Setting up a new 64 bit RHEL 6 server with ext4 FS. Have only worked with ext3 and 32bit RHEL5 before. No matter what I try, I cannot get it to work. Current settings for mount (from "mount" command): /dev/sda7 on / type ext4 (rw,noatime) proc on /proc type proc (rw) sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw) devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,gid=5,mode=620) tmpfs on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw,noexec,nosuid) /dev/sdb1 on /backup type ext4 (rw) /dev/sda1 on /boot type ext4 (rw,noatime) /dev/sda8 on /home type ext4 (rw,noatime,usrjquota=aquota.user,grpjquota=aquota.group,jqfmt=vfsv0) /dev/sda2 on /tmp type ext4 (rw,noexec,noatime) /dev/sda6 on /usr type ext4 (rw,noatime) /dev/sda5 on /var type ext4 (rw,noatime,usrjquota=aquota.user,jqfmt=vfsv0) none on /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc type binfmt_misc (rw) Essentially trying to get user/group quotas on /home, and user quotas on /var.
