• C# Enterprise Block Application Settings and Settings.Settings designer

- by Tab
I am working with v4 of the Enterprise Application block and I am trying to learn how to access the Application Settings that I have added using the Enterprise Library Configuration tool. It's as if the code does not recognize the settings even though I can see them in the app.config. I DO have a Settings.Settings designer added and I CAN get to those settings the standard way even though the settings added in that designer do NOT show up in the app.config like they normally would if I am NOT using the Enterprise Block How do I access the App Settings that I added with the Enterprise Block?

• Where can I find a nice .NET Tab Control for free?

- by Nazgulled
I'm doing this application in C# using the free Krypton Toolkit but the Krypton Navigator is a paid product which is rather expensive for me and this application is being developed on my free time and it will be available to the public for free. So, I'm looking for a free control to integrate better into my Krypton application because the default one doesn't quite fit and it will be different depending on the OS version... Any suggestions? P.S: I know I could owner-draw it but I'm trying not to have that kind of work... I prefer something already done if it exists for free. EDIT: I just found exactly what I wanted: http://www.angelonline.net/CodeSamples/Lib_3.5.0.zip

• Why darcs instead of git?

- by Ctrl Alt D-1337
Using pure functional languages can have a lot of benefits over using impure imperatives but low level systems languages will generally allow you to achieve much greater performance especially when they are imperative because it allows you to specify the exact steps in how the cpu should compute the result. If there is ever list of tools where high performance is an absolute must then I would put source version controls systems right at the top of that list and git achieves this very well but performance is not it's only advantage over many other other types of version control systems anyway. The git team are handling the unsafe c code very well and I never worry about my type system or any other features of the language it is written in so why is it that there is a lot of haskell developers that must use darcs when they will only be using the finished product?

• How do I hook up a custom tab bar build in IB to a UINavigationController Object instanced in XCODE?

- by David Hsu
What I did to create the custom NAV BAR: 1. Created an empty XIB and added a view with class UINavigationController. 2. Under the view I added the navigation bar and a left and right button onto the nav bar. 3. Control drag from "File Owner" to "View" Inside my class where I call the modal view navigation controller: SignupViewController *addController = [[SignupViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SignupViewController" bundle:nil]; // Create the navigation controller and present it modally. UINavigationController *navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:addController]; navigationController.navigationBar = ///WHAT SHOULD GO HERE? [self presentModalViewController:navigationController animated:YES]; Thank in advance!

• Using struts.xml with convention plugin

- by David Alt
This seems like it should be easy to do, but I just can make it work. I'm hooked on the convention plugin in Struts 2.1. However, I need to define some package-level configuration such as a new interceptor stack and exception mappings. I'd like to use the struts.xml file for this, but I can't get the convention-based packages matched to the struts.xml packages. My struts.xml looks like: <struts> <constant name="struts.convention.default.parent.package" value="default"/> <package name="default" extends="struts-default"> </package> <package name="root" namespace="/" extends="struts-default"> <action name="index"> <result>/index.jsp</result> </action> </package> <package name="my.package.actions.myaccount" namespace="/myaccount" extends="struts-default"> <interceptors> <interceptor name="authenticationInterceptor" class="my.package.interceptors.AuthenticationInterceptor"/> <interceptor-stack name="secureStack"> <interceptor-ref name="authenticationInterceptor"/> <interceptor-ref name="defaultStack"/> </interceptor-stack> </interceptors> <default-interceptor-ref name="secureStack"/> </package> </struts> I have my interceptor in: /src/my/package/interceptors and my actions in: /src/my/package/actions/myaccount

• Iteration, or copying in XSL, based on a count. How do I do it?

- by LOlliffe
I'm trying to create an inventory list (tab-delimited text, for the output) from XML data. The catch is, I need to take the line that I created, and list it multiple times (iterate ???), based on a number found in the XML. So, from the XML below: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <library> <aisle label="AA"> <row>bb</row> <shelf>a</shelf> <books>4</books> </aisle> <aisle label="BB"> <row>cc</row> <shelf>d</shelf> <books>3</books> </aisle> </library> I need to take the value found in "books", and then copy the text line that number of times. The result looking like this: Aisle Row Shelf Titles AA bb a AA bb a AA bb a AA bb a BB cc d BB cc d BB cc d So that the inventory taker, can then write in the titles found on each shelf. I have the basic structure of my XSL, but I'm not sure how to do the "iteration" portion. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" exclude-result-prefixes="xs" xmlns:xd="http://www.oxygenxml.com/ns/doc/xsl" version="2.0"> <xsl:output omit-xml-declaration="yes"/> <xsl:variable name="tab" select="'	'"/> <xsl:variable name="newline" select="'
'"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <!-- Start Spreadsheet header --> <xsl:text>Aisle</xsl:text> <xsl:value-of select="$tab"/> <xsl:text>Row</xsl:text> <xsl:value-of select="$tab"/> <xsl:text>Shelf</xsl:text> <xsl:value-of select="$tab"/> <xsl:text>Titles</xsl:text> <xsl:value-of select="$newline"/> <!-- End spreadsheet header --> <!-- Start entering values from XML --> <xsl:for-each select="library/aisle"> <xsl:value-of select="@label"/> <xsl:value-of select="$tab"/> <xsl:value-of select="row"/> <xsl:value-of select="$tab"/> <xsl:value-of select="shelf"/> <xsl:value-of select="$tab"/> <xsl:value-of select="$tab"/> <xsl:value-of select="$newline"/> </xsl:for-each> <!-- End of values from XML --> <!-- Iteration of the above needed, based on count value in "books" --> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> Any help would be greatly appreciated. For starters, is "iteration" the right term to be using for this? Thanks!

• Including a NSUserDefault password test in 1st Tab.m to load a loginView gives eror?

- by Michael Robinson
I have a name and password in NSUserDefaults for login. I have this in my 1stTab View.m class to test for presence and load a login/signup loginView.xib modally if there is no password or name stored in the app. Here is the pulling of the defaults: -(void)refreshFields { NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; usernameLabel.text = [defaults objectForKey:kUsernameKey]; passwordLabel.text = [defaults objectForKey:kPasswordKey]; { Here is the Test: - (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [self refreshFields]; [super viewDidAppear:animated]; if ([usernameLabel.text length] == 0 || [passwordLabel.text length] == 0) { LoginViewController * vc = [[[LoginViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"LoginView" bundle:nil] autorelease]; [self presentModalViewController:vc animated: false]; } else { [[self tableView ]reloadData]; } } Thanks in advance, I'm getting this error in the console: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSUnknownKeyException', reason: '[ setValue:forUndefinedKey:]: this class is not key value coding-compliant for the key usernameLabel.'

• Beginner Question: For extract a large subset of a table from MySQL, how does Indexing, order of tab

- by chongman
Sorry if this is too simple, but thanks in advance for helping. This is for MySQL but might be relevant for other RDMBSs tblA has 4 columns: colA, colB, colC, mydata, A_id It has about 10^9 records, with 10^3 distinct values for colA, colB, colC. tblB has 3 columns: colA, colB, B_id It has about 10^4 records. I want all the records from tblA (except the A_id) that have a match in tblB. In other words, I want to use tblB to describe the subset that I want to extract and then extract those records from tblA. Namely: SELECT a.colA, a.colB, a.colC, a.mydata FROM tblA as a INNER JOIN tblB as b ON a.colA=b.colA a.colB=b.colB ; It's taking a really long time (more than an hour) on a newish computer (4GB, Core2Quad, ubuntu), and I just want to check my understanding of the following optimization steps. ** Suppose this is the only query I will ever run on these tables. So ignore the need to run other queries. Now my questions: 1) What indexes should I create to optimize this query? I think I just need a multiple index on (colA, colB) for both tables. I don't think I need separate indexes for colA and colB. Another stack overflow article (that I can't find) mentioned that when adding new indexes, it is slower when there are existing indexes, so that might be a reason to use the multiple index. 2) Is INNER JOIN correct? I just want results where a match is found. 3) Is it faster if I join (tblA to tblB) or the other way around, (tblB to tblA)? This previous answer says that the optimizer should take care of that. 4) Does the order of the part after ON matter? This previous answer say that the optimizer also takes care of the execution order.

• How to read a column in a tab-delimited Excel file in C#?

- by janejanejane
I have some data of an excel file below. At first, I figured that reading from the file could be done using the Excel Library then using an OLEDB connection. I managed to get the DocumentNo column data with the OLEDB approach. However, when the excel file is closed, I am unable to do the operation because it gives an error that "External table is not in the expected format." How can I read from the file even if it is closed? 10/4/2010 Paid Documents for Document Tracking - Customer 1 Paid Documents for Document Tracking - Customer CoCd Customer Trans.type SG Clearing Clrng doc. • From a shell script open a new tab in a specific instance of Firefox.

- by toc777
Hi everyone, I have a shell script that creates Firefox profiles and then uses them to open multiple instances of Firefox simultaneously. The problem is how can I open a URL in a particular instance of Firefox? I have tried firefox -CREATEPROFILE test firefox -P 'test' -no-remote firefox -P test -url www.google.ie But the last part which is trying to open the URL using the test profile does not work, it always opens in then default profile. Is there any way to tell Firefox from the command line to open a URL using a particular profile? Thanks.

• How to fit more operations to tab bar + navigation bar?

- by Henry
I want to use Tabview for my whole app. However in certain view, I have more operations than I can fit in the navigator bar. So I thought of using Toolbar but toolbar should be located at the bottom, right? Toolbar looks weird to be on top of the tabview, and hiding tabview for one view doesn't really make sense. I guess I can go with more buttons in the main view, but any other alternatives? What can one use to add more operation(s) to tabview? Thanks

• What's an effective way to move data from one open browser tab to another?

- by slk
I am looking for a quick way to grab some data off of one Web page and throw it into another. I don't have access to the query string in the URL of the second page, so passing the data that way is not an option. Right now, I am using a Greasemonkey user script in tandem with a JS bookmarklet trigger: javascript:doIt(); // ==UserScript== // @include public_site // @include internal_site // ==/UserScript== if (document.location.host.match(internal_site)) { var datum1 = GM_getValue("d1"); var datum2 = GM_getValue("d2"); } unsafeWindow.doIt = function() { if(document.location.host.match(public_site)) { var d1 = innerHTML of page element 1; var d2 = innerHTML of page element 2; //Next two lines use setTimeout to bypass GM_setValue restriction window.setTimeout(function() {GM_setValue("d1", d1);}, 0); window.setTimeout(function() {GM_setValue("d2", d2);}, 0); } else if(document.location.host.match(internal_site)) { document.getElementById("field1").value = datum1; document.getElementById("field2").value = datum2; } } While I am open to another method, I would prefer to stay with this basic model if possible, as this is just a small fraction of the code in doIt() which is used on several other pages, mostly to automate date-based form fills; people really like their "magic button." The above code works, but there's an interruption to the workflow: In order for the user to know which page on the public site to grab data from, the internal page has to be opened first. Then, once the GM cookie is set from the public page, the internal page has to be reloaded to get the proper information into the internal page variables. I'm wondering if there's any way to GM_getValue() at bookmarklet-clicktime to prevent the need for a refresh. Thanks!
