    I work in a large team, and not everybody has upgraded from VS 2008 to VS 2010, though I have. I have a maintenance bug in a VS 2008 project, and have been told that I cannot upgrade the project file. Is there a way for me to make the changes I need to make within VS10 without upgrading the project (including compiling, using the debugger, etc.), or do I need to re-install VS 2008?

    I'm doing a test deploy on a Lab with 3 VMs: TEST-DC: DC / DHCP / DNS / Root CA (Joined to TEST.AD Domain) TEST-CS: OCS Front End (Joined to TEST.AD Domain - IP: 10.0.128.1) TEST-EDGES: OCS Edge Server (Joined to Workgroup: EDGE-WKG - Internal IP: 10.0.128.3, External IPs: 192.168.129.12 - Access Edge Server, 192.168.129.13 - Web Conferencing, 192.168.129.14 - A/V) I can login with the Communicator Client from within computers in the domain (using [email protected]) and even the Automatic Sign-In works as expected. Nevertheless, I cannot login neither from within machines in the domain nor from outside the domain using [email protected].     Over the years, I've tried to avoid instanceof whenever possible. Using polymorphism or the visitor pattern where applicable. I suppose it simply eases maintenance in some situations... Are there any other drawbacks that one should be aware of? I do however see it here and there in the Java libraries so I suppose it has its place? Under what circumstances is it preferable? Is it ever unavoidable?

    In one tablet computer yesterday I make the usually automatic updates from ms. This tablet have comodo firewall, and and old nod32. After that I notice very soon, that something start sending hundred smtp e-mail the moment the tablet computer is connected to the internet. Also the previous t time I have make updates, some 'virus' gets on the computer but I find very easy and stop it from run. I find using the autostart from sysinternals, and the process explorer. This virus has also break the automatic update from ms, and lost a lot of time to fix it. This is my usually practice when some call me to delete a virus from xp, I use the process explorer and autostart to locate the program, and delete it from everywhere. How ever the last one is so hard to locate. 0.I delete everything from temp directorys and search for suspicious files everywhere, run the nod32, 1.I use the TCPView to see witch program sending the smpt (I see hundred open smpt connections sending emails) but the SMTP was opened by the main service program. 2. I use the process monitor to locate whats happens but find again the main service that do the job. 3.I start delete many thinks on process explorer, but did not found the one that send the emails 4.I open many times the autorun but did not find there also something suspicion, I stop some thinks, but nothing happends. 5.From the last time that I suspect that this virus come to my computer and I partial remove it, he has broke my windows update, to fix it I lost a lot of time, searching on Internet for the error - it was just a register to a dll. 6.From what I suspect something is trigger after the ms update. 7.For the moment I block the email ports, and try to find a way to locate it. I like to notice here that everything is genius - and I mean everything. I believe that this virus pass from a page, or from an e-mail that this computer receive it in the past. Any help or information are appreciate. If you know anything similar, if you know how this virus send emails and how can I locate it, if you know any anti-virus anti-spyware program that maybe can find it. If you know how a virus gets after the ms updates. Million thanks.

Now I want to run the application in background once a day or once an hour. How do I set this up?     Got a win7 computer for xmas and like the Sticky Notes But twice now, after running an automatic update, the sticky notes disappeared Managed to navigate system restore and recover it, but what a pain in the butt. The update seems to be deleting the exe, but I haven't been able to find any info on why. Anyone else experience this? Any ideas how to prevent it happening again? Cheers

    I am using the google dns servers most of the time, but for one particular wifi connection it blocks that ip so I have to revert back to automatically choosing DNS... The problem now is everytime I connect to this network, I have to change it back to automatic DNS manually (ironically), it's stuck on using the google DNS by default... It's a trivial problem, but would be fab if someone can help me out here...

    I have a domain controller running on Windows 2008 Server R2 and users login to application servers on which Windows 2003 Server SP2 is installed. I have applied a Group Policy to clean temporary internet files on exit i.e to delete all temporary internet files when users close the browser. But the group policy doesn't seem to work as user profile size keeps on increasing and the major space is occupied by temporary internet files therefore increasing the disk usage. How can i enforce automatic deletion of temporary internet files?

    Hey, I have a laptop with Windows Vista Basic. It won't boot. I have tried an automatic repair with the installation disc but the error cannot be repaired automatically. According to the test results the registry is corrupt. I have found this guide on how to recover from a corrupt registry with Windows XP here. I have just realized that when using the application in chinese language, it blows up when the selector doClustering is invoked on a OCMapView instance. This is for me a very puzzling behaviour, because I thought that regardless of the environment language, the OCMapView class should allways have the same methods. Am I wrong?     Are there any circumstances where it is favourable to manually create a stub type, as opposed to using a mocking framework (such as Rhino Mocks) at the point of test. We take both these approaches in our projects. My gut feel when I look at the long list of stub versions of objects is that it will add maintenance overhead, and moves the implementation of the stub away from the point of test.

  • Hyper-V causes boot loop/failure on a non-Gigabyte Win8 Pro system

    Hardware: Intel i7 2600K (not overclocked, SLAT compatible, virt. features enabled in bios) Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z (Z68) 16Gb RAM 256Gb SSD Other non-trivial working parts Adding Hyper-V is causing a boot loop resulting in an attempt at automatic repair by Windows 8 after the second or third loop: I'm trying to get the Windows Phone 8 SDK installed and I've narrowed down my troubles to the Hyper-V feature in Win8. This is required to run the WP8 emulator and there are no install options to omit this feature. My first attempt completely borked the OS as I did not have a recent restore point or system image, so I did a completely clean install and made plenty of backups/restore points. I skipped the SDK install and went straight for the windows feature add-on for Hyper-V. This confirmed that Hyper-V is the issue as the same behavior resulted. I cannot find any hint in the Event Logs. Cancelling automatic recovery causes the same behavior to repeat. I don't have any other VM products installed. My only recourse is to use a restore point, try something else, install it again, and see what happens. No luck so far. I'm on my 10th attempt here. Any help would be much appreciated. I've tried setting 'CPUID Limit' to disabled. This seems to work partly as Win8 boots but no USB devices work at all. I also attempted disabling the usb 3.0 controller as the msdn topic lists an issue with USB controllers on Gigabyte boards. This also doesn't work. The USB devices light up but no input is received by the OS. All of my other bios CPU settings are in line with the info in the post. I'm totally stumped.   • Can I stop NUnit GUI test run from code under test?

    I'm using nunit.exe (v2.5.3, as it happens) for our testers to run UI tests of our web site, using WatiN. The regression test suite is up to around 100 tests. While the test suite is running, the test web site could go down for maintenance. It would be more efficient in those circumstances if the test suite would stop altogether, rather than attempting to run each remaining test, and failing. Is there any way to accomplish this?
