  • Adding a virtual directory IIS 7.5 Windows 7 Ultimate x64

    Trying to get my IIS 7.5 playing nice with VS 2008 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I'm getting this error: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. This happens when accessing a virtual directory outside C:\inetpub\wwwroot. I'd like to be able to create virtual directories outside the root if I can. I've added the NETWORK SERVICE to the folder hosting the virtual directory, still no luck. This folder is on my C: drive, not a share. TIA

  • eSATA hard drive falls asleep, takes ages to wake up.

    I'm using an external hard drive, a Western Digital MyBook 1TB of some sort with eSATA on an eSATA II ExpressCard adapter from Belkin on Windows Vista 32-bit. The issue I'm having is that after a while power management kicks in and puts the hard drive to sleep. When I resume my work and browse the drive, for example, the Explorer hangs and while I can still use my other apps, it takes a couple minutes for it to realize it should wake up the drive and recommence work. What's going on?

    I installed CygWin on Windows 7. Using Notepad, I edited my ~/.bash_profile file to add on to the PATH variable … PATH="${PATH}:/cygdrive/c/apache-ant-1.8.2/bin" Now, when I SSH in to my Windows machine, I get this error … -bash: $'\r': command not found -bash: $'\r': command not found -bash: $'\r': command not found -bash: $'\r': command not found -bash: $'\r': command not found -bash: /home/dev/.bash_profile: line 39: syntax error: unexpected end of file and my PATH is not set. Anyone know how I can correct this?

  • How can I connect a SAS drive to USB? [closed]

    I have a Dell T710 with Seagate Cheetah 15k.7 SAS disks. If the T710 motherboard dies, I'll need to resort to one of my nightly off-site backups and salvage the journal/logfile from the SAS disk to bring the backup bang up-to-date. I need a way of reading the healthy-but-inaccessible SAS disc that does not depend on the only SAS-capable machine I have to hand. So I bought: SAS to SATA Adapter and: USB 2.0 to SATA Adapter with Power ...so that I could read the SAS drive via USB. I can plug it all together just fine. The chain looks like: USB - SATA - SAS. But the drive does not spin up and the computer doesn't even acknowledge anything being attached by USB. Is there a cheap external enclosure I can buy for SAS drives? I can't believe these USB to SATA adapters are everywhere but the USB to SAS adapters are almost non-existent...

    Windows 8.1 upgrade created a second recovery partition. Can I remove the original? Prior to this the partitions were Recovery, EFI, OS(C:), Data(D:). After the upgrade partitions are Recovery, EFI, OS(C:), Recovery, Data(D:). The first Recovery partition is 1023MB the second is 350MB The "Create a system image" tool selects the EFI, OS(C:), and the second 350MB Recovery partitions. The first 1023MB Recovery partition is not listed, I have to "assume" it is now redundant. The factory (HP) Recovery Partition was removed using the HP provided tool after creating recovery disks, and the D: partition created months ago.

  • Problems installing Ruby 1.9.2 and rvm on Debian Lenny

    I have currently have Ruby 1.9.1 (bad) and want to install 1.9.3 under rvm. However, rvm requirements gives a long list: install build-essential openssl libreadline6 libreadline6-dev curl git-core zlib1g zlib1g-dev libssl-dev libyaml-dev libsqlite3-dev sqlite3 libxml2-dev libxslt-dev autoconf libc6-dev ncurses-dev automake libtool bison subversion But I've hit a problem here: /# apt-get install libreadline6 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Couldn't find package libreadline6 ...and (I imagine after just hunting down a Debian source to download curl) finding these packages isn't going to be a picnic. Given that there are few packages to install before I can get rvm to install Ruby 1.9.3, what's a good way forward? My sources.list: deb http://archive.debian.org/debian/ lenny main contrib

  • Routing to a Terminal Services Cluster

    I am trying to connect to a Load Balanced Windows 2008 R2 cluster using Remote Desktop Services. I have no trouble connecting to the the Servers' IP addresses (.253.16 and .253.17) or the Cluster address (.253.20) from inside the subnet (.253). The trouble is when I try to connect from the other subnet(.251). I can remote to the other non-clustered servers (.253.12 and .253.15) inside the .253 subnet from the .251 without an issue. I receive a ping reply from the cluster and other servers when I am on the .251 subnet. But when I try to connect via remote desktop it times out but only to any of the IPs on the cluster (.20,.17,.16). My ASA 5510 handling the routing reports message in the log: Deny TCP (no connection) from 192.168.251.2/4283 to 192.168.253.16/3389 flag FIN PSH ACK Here is a picture if it helps http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4217864/terminal%20server.jpg Thanks for any help

  • Installing WinPcap on Windows 8

    I know there has been lots of discussion already on installing WinPcap on Windows 8. I'm running the RTM version. I was able to install WinPcap without a hitch by using the Windows 7 compatibility mode. Since then, I've noticed that WinPcap has stopped running and is actually no longer even installed. I tried installing it again, but now it continues to tell me that WinPcap does not work with my version of Windows. Compatibility modes and admin privileges make no difference. The only thing I remember doing to my system was installed 900MBs of Windows Updates. Does anyone have any ideas about what I might do to get WinPcap installed? I've already ensured that the compatibility mode settings I changed were in effect for all users. I've already ensured that "run this program as an administrator" is checked on the compatibility tab for all users. I've also tried installing WinPcap 4.1.2 and 4.1.1. No success with either.

    The only way I know how to open the Select Users, Computers, Service Accounts or Groups is by right clicking on a folder and selecting Properties - Security Tab - Edit - Advanced. Below is a screen shot of the window I want to access: Is there any other way to view the full list (Find Now)? I am writing documentation and I want the user to check if a user exists before creating it. I would ideally like them to access this via control panel or similar.

  • Mac updated just now, postgres now broken

    I run postgres 9.1 / ruby 1.9.2 / rails 3.1.0 on a maxbook air for local dev. It's all been running smoothly for months, (though this is the first time I've done development on a mac.) It's a macbook air from last year, and today I got the mac osx software update message as I have a few times before, and my system downloaded approx 450mb of updates and restarted. It now says it's on OSX 10.7.3. Point is, postgres has stopped working, when I start my thin server (mirror heroku cedar) as normal, and then browse to my rails app I get: PG::Error could not connect to server: Permission denied Is the server running locally and accepting connections on Unix domain socket "/var/pgsql_socket/.s.PGSQL.5432"? What happened? After browsing around a few questions I'm still confused, but here's some extra info: Running psql from command line gives same error I can run pgadmin 3 and connect via it and run SQL no problems Running which psql shows the version as /usr/bin/psql I created a PostgreSQL user back when I got the mac (it's always been on lion) I've no idea why, almost certainly I was following a tutorial which I neglected to store in my notes. Point is I am aware there is a _postgres user as well. I know it's rubbish, but apart from a note on passwords, I don't have any extra info on how I configured postgres - though the obvious implication is that I did not use the _postgres user. Anyone have suggestions or information on what might have changed / what I can try to debug and fix? Thanks.   • Can any postfix guru assist me determine how emails are still being sent via my server from unauthorized sources?

    Hi all, I'm getting a little concerned as I run a small server hosting a number of websites and manage the email for a few dozen people. Just recently though I've had a couple of notifications from spamcop alerting me that spam has been sent from my server, and when I have a look over the logs from time to time I can indeed see that there are many repeated attempts of mail being sent from my server. Most of the time it gets knocked back from the destination servers but sometimes its getting through. Unfortunately I'm not linux or postfix expert, I can get by but had though I had my machine locked down quite securely, I don't allow relaying, when I check the online DNS/MX tools they tend to report my server as being OK so I'm not sure where to take it now and hoping someone might be able to throw me a few pointers. I have my existing HD divided into five virtual drives, one of which contains the Windows 7 Operating System. There were no back up disks when I purchased the machine originally. How do I go about saving the Operating system and transferring it to the new SSD?

  • Built-in webcam on Asus laptop missing under imaging devices in Windows 7

    My built-in webcam for U43JC Asus laptop (Windows 7 32 bit) did not work, saying The camera is being used by another program. I searched on the net to solve the problem and the solution that seemed to be working was to remove usb2.0 uvc 1.3m webcam and restart the computer and the webcam will automatically re-install. However, not only did the webcam not re-install automatically, but the webcam is still not working. Things have gotten only worse that now I'm missing the webcam under Imaging Devices. I even tried recovering Windows to the factory state, however, the webcam was still missing. What can I do to restore my usb2.0 uvc 1.3m webcam?

  • CHKDSK always runs on Hyper-V image

    I am having a problem with one of my VM's. Every time it boots, CHKDSK runs and finds no errors, but it goes into an endless loop (CHKDSK/Reboot/CHKDSK). The only way I can get Windows to boot is by cancelling the chkdsk. Is there any way I can tell windows to not do it? What do you guys suggest? Can't redo server. I guess it's also fair to say I get the following errors in Event Viewer "The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume \Device\HarddiskVolume2" "The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume C:\" I only have 1 VHD attached, not sure what Volume 2 is. Thanks!

  • Why does my hackintosh freeze coming out of sleep?

    I put OSx 10.1 on a Dell Mini 10v and everytime it goes to sleep, it either will not emerge from the sleep or if it does it's frozen. Is there something that I should be doing that I'm not? I went into the boot settings and it's set to load off of the Hard Disk drive and not the USB.

  • Route traffic on vpn to another interface on an ASA 5510

    I have a ASA 5510 that has about 60-70 vpn tunnels. I have four interfaces on the device: 1)External, 2)192.168.1.0, 3)192.168.2.0, 4) 192.168.3.0 A VPN tunnel is configured from the remote site (192.168.200.0) to the 192.168.2.0 subnet on the ASA. I have remote applications I would like the users at the remote site to be able to access which are hosted on the 192.168.3.0 subnet. I can route traffic between the subnets that are located on the ASA. Any way I can route traffic from the remote site to the 192.168.3.0?

    I have 2 websites a main website hosted at fasthosts and an e-commerce website hosted at Vidahost. I want to combine both websites under the same domain set. Main site would be www.mydomain.com Store site would be shop.mydomain.com I want to keep the directory path showing on the shop subdomain so what was previously www.mystore.com/product/hat would become shop.mydomain.com/product/hat How can I accomplish this, have already created the subdomain on fasthosts and setup web forwarding to the store but the directory paths do not show.

  • Finding Image resolution in PDF file?

    I have a problem of having some users creating very large PDFs. On the other hands I have PDF sent from our fax machines that are really small in size and totally printable. My question is Is there any way I can find the resolution (DPI) of the PDF. I search the internet, could not find any answer. Checked the properties of the file, this information was not stored there, at least in my case. What is the optimum resolution of converting text file into image PDF. 96dpi, 300dpi or more ? Fun question. Can I resize a PDF which was scanned with high dpi into smaller dpi? I know some answers might not be available as I have already searched the internet and could not find answers. Note: My PDF are entirely images, text to images. I am also familiar with primoPDF (free) something you can experiment with
