    Over the last few years F# has evolved into one of Microsoft's fully supported languages employing many ideas incubated in OCaml, ML and Haskell. Over the last several years C# has extended it's general purpose features by introducing more and more functional language features: LINQ (list comprehension), Lamdas, Closures, Anonymous Delegates and more... Given C#'s adoption of these functional features and F#'s taxonomy as an impure functional language (it allows YOU to access framework libraries or change shared state when a function is called if you want to) there is a strong similarity between the two languages although each has it's own polar opposite primary emphasis. I'm interested in any successful models employing these two languages in your production polyglot programs and also the areas within production software (web apps, client apps, server apps) you have written in F# in the past year or so that you would previously have written in C#. Right now, I'm after how good its code is (so, please, don't even mention Drupal or Wordpress /shudder). I want to know which ones have a good, solid, OOP codebase. I'm after a package that provides the basic CMS features that I can build on for a wide range of purposes. I've heard of PHPcake, Drupal ect but I don't know enough about these to make an informed decision. What alternatives are there? Are they OO, MVC, producedual? If you could point me to some comparisons or give your option of which actually work.

  • once more: .htaccess - RewriteRules working, but browser address bar displaying full (unfriendly) URL

    Hi, I can't seem to find my problem with this really simple .htaccess file: Options -Indexes Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteBase /d/ #drupal style url rewriting RewriteRule ^([^.]*)$ index.php?path=$1 [L] It works as intended for everything except the root url with no slash. So it rewrites and passes the hidden get querystring to my pages for localhost/d/x/y/z as ?path=x/y/z and localhost/d/ as ?path= (blank) but... localhost/d works, but now appears in the address bar as this ugly monster: http://localhost/d/?path=/Users/audiozoom/Documents/webroot/d What could be the problem?

How to do similar thing on google app engine like cloud computing ?   • mysqldump parameter to ensure DROP VIEW IF EXISTS rather than incorrect DROP TABLE IF EXISTS

    Wonder if there is a parameter I can pass in mmysqldump equivalent for SQL Servery mysqldump that will make the incorrect "DROP TABLE IF EXISTS" statements into "DROP VIEW IF EXISTS", so that populating a database in an automated development environment refresh will work? Clarification, I'm getting DROP TABLE IF EXISTS statements in my .sql dump file even though they aren't tables. FYI: This is a Drupal site. The tables in question are ubercart meta statistics tables.

Sometimes Firefox gives the error message: "Unresponsive Javascript script" and I have to press on continue to continue the navigation. thanks

  • What is wrong with Stubs for unit testing?

    I just watched this funny YouTube Video about unit testing (it's Hitler with fake subtitles chewing out his team for not doing good unit tests--skip it if you're humor impaired) where stubs get roundly criticized. But I don't understand what wrong with stubs. I haven't started using a mocking framework and I haven't started feeling the pain from not using one. Am I in for a world a hurt sometime down the line, having chosen handwritten stubs and fakes instead of mocks (like Rhinomock etc)? (using Fowler's taxonomy) What are the considerations for picking between a mock and handwritten stub?

  • Modifying wordpress plugin markup

    Is there a 'good working practise' way to modify the markup that a wordpress plugin produces without editing the plugin's core files. The problem i foresee is that when you update the plugin, the markup that you would have modified overwritten. I know in drupal there are template overrides, but i don't know enough about wordpress to do a similar practise. Any help?

    i wonder if large web applications like twitter and facebook have admin panels to handle CRUD for users, posts, images, themes and so on just like in CMS like drupal? so programmers have to code the front for the regular users AND back for the administrators? if i develop an web application is it recommended that i also code the admin part? or is it unnecessary since i can handle all directly in mysql and by editing php scripts directly? share your thoughts! thanks
