  • CSS * {margin: 0;padding: 0;} override

    - by StealthRT
    Hey all, i am in need of some help with figuring out how to override the "* {margin: 0;padding: 0;}" in my css. The reason why is that i have this css: .postcomments { width: 547px; padding: 5px 5px 5px 5px; margin: 0 0 5px 0;} .postcomments a { text-decoration: underline;} .postcomments ul { margin: 0; padding: 0; list-style-type: none;} .postcomments ul li { width: 547px; margin: 0 0 5px 0; padding: 0; list-style-type: none;} .postcomments .right { color: #474747; font-size: 11px; background: #fff url('http://www.nextbowluser.com/img/ucBG.gif') no-repeat top left; line-height: 17px; padding: 5px 0 0 0; width: 430px; position: relative; float: right; min-height: 50px;} .postcomments .right .bottom { padding: 0 5px 15px 5px; background: #fff url('http://www.nextbowluser.com/img/ucBG.gif') no-repeat bottom right; min-height: 50px;} .postcomments .arrow { left: -15px; top: 20px; position: absolute;} .avatar { border: none !important;} .postcomments .left {float: left; margin: 0 7px 0 0;} .postcomments .gravatar { background: #fff; width: 80px; height: 60px; margin: 0 0px 0 0; padding: 3px;} .postcomments .name { font-size: 11px; margin: 2px 0 0 0; color: #000;} .avatar { border: none !important;} and it displays just fine WITHOUT the * {margin: 0;padding: 0;}: 1st comment 2nd comment 3rd comment However, when i add that to the CSS, it makes the comments stack wrong: 1st comment 2nd comment 3rd comment I would just take out the * {margin: 0;padding: 0;} but some other things on the page needs that in order for that to be displayed correctly. So my question is, how can i override the {margin: 0;padding: 0;} for just that postcomments part of the page? Thanks! :o) David

  • FloatableWindow resizes Grid in Silverlight

    - by Ben
    I'm trying to use Tim Heuer's FloatableWindow control for a non-modal options window in my Silverlight application. However, I'm running into a problem with the FloatableWindow resizing it's parent grid when it opens. For example, before I open the window the application looks like this: But after opening the window, the first row of the grid expands: I'm currently setting FloatableWindow.ParentLayoutRoot to the LayoutRoot grid in MainPage.xaml. Is this the right thing to do? How can I prevent the grid from resizing when the FloatableWindow opens?

  • Is there a WPF "WrapGrid" control available or an easy way to create one?

    - by Jason Coyne
    Essentially I want a wrapPanel, but I would like items to snap to a grid rather than be pressed up to the left, so I can get a nice uniform looking grid, that automatically consumes available space. WrapPanel handles the resize part. WPF.Contrib.AutoGrid handles a nice automatic grid. Anyone got a control that combines them? My use case is I have a series of somewhat irregularly shaped controls. I would like them to appear in nice columns so the wrap panel should snap to the next "tabstop" when placing a control

  • Android ScrollView Not Scrolling Correctly

    - by user3133534
    I've been making my way through thenewboston's android tutorials and I'm stuck on number 35. There is supposed to be a scroll bar that takes up a weight of 30 at the top of the app. There are 6 textview/edittext field groups in the code, but I deleted 5 for simplicity. My problem is that all of the text and text boxes appear on the page and are not confined to the given weight (they all just show up on the page). Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? Please, I'm new to stackoverflow. If you think this is a stupid question, please explain to me why and how I can ask it better. Here is what it looks like: http://imgur.com/gJmOgqk <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="vertical" android:weightSum="100" > <ScrollView android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:layout_weight="30" > <LinearLayout android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="vertical" > <TextView android:id="@+id/textView1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="TextView" /> <EditText android:id="@+id/editText1" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:ems="10" > </EditText> </LinearLayout> </ScrollView> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:layout_weight="40" android:orientation="vertical" > <Button android:id="@+id/button1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Button" /> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:layout_weight="30" android:orientation="vertical" > <AnalogClock android:id="@+id/analogClock1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout>

  • How to grey out spinner in Android?

    - by Janusz
    I use two Spinner in my App. One of them is initially disabled because I need the user to select something in the first spinner to load the content of the second one. I would like to change the design of the second spinner to show the user that the spinner is not active, eg. grey the spinner out. How can I achieve this? If this is not possible how would you change this dialog to make it clear to the user that she has to select something in the first spinner?

  • What can tables do that CSS positioning cannot?

    - by Jeremy Lew
    I know there are various good arguments preferring css positioning over table-based layouts. What I'm wondering is whether the CSS model is complete (assuming a relatively modern browser) with respect to ALL of the capabilities of tables. Are there layouts that tables can achieve that are impossible or impractical with CSS?

  • android: How to set a listener that fires when my ViewFlipper shows a new child

    - by Joseph Cheek
    Hi Android gurus, I have a ViewFlipper for which I want a listener to fire when the child displayed is changed. I have set an OnFocusChangeListener to the ViewFlipper but it never fires when I flip from child 0 to child 1 or vice-versa. The ViewFlipper contains two RelativeLayouts and I have tried setting OnFocusChangeListeners for those but I get a ClassCastException when I try to set it. Here's my code: RelativeLayout songsLayout = (RelativeLayout) findViewById(R.id.song_page_layout); songsLayout.setOnFocusChangeListener(new OnFocusChangeListener() { public void onFocusChange(View view, boolean hasFocus) { showPopUp("View " + view.getId() + " now has focus: " + hasFocus); } } ); R.is.song_page_layout is one of my RelativeLayouts and showPopUp() is a function I use to show, well, popups. Does anyone have working code for some sort of trigger that fires when a ViewFlipper changes which child is displayed?

  • Error when importing com.google, com.android.internal.Telephony, etc.

    - by psyhclo
    Hey, I've downloaded the android source code for CallLog, Contacts, Dialing in this link http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=platform/packages/apps/Contacts.git;a=tree But now, when I try to import this package on Eclipse, imports like: com.google, com.android.internal.Telephony, com.android.internal.R, com.google.android.collect, android.provider.ContactsContract.Intents.UI, android.provider.ContactsContract.SearchSnippetColumns, android.provider.ContactsContract.ProviderStatus, android.provider.ContactsContract.ContactCounts, android.content.IContentService, android.provider.ContactsContract.Intents.UI And many other imports, show errors saying it cannot be resolved. So my question is, why it shows this errors? Why I cant implement it without this errors? I use the Google APIs, I've created the project from an existing source code, but I dont know why this happens. Thanks.

  • Android: Make application background behave like homescreen background

    - by Mannaz
    Hi, I have a big background image for my views's background, which also can be tiled (it's repeadable). When switching from one Activity to another i want the background to behave like on the homescreen (the background moves only a bit, but the foreground moves one screen with). Is this possible and how? Here is my current background definition: Manifest.xml: <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name" android:theme="@style/MyAppStyle"> styles.xml: <style name="MyAppStyle" parent="@android:style/Theme.NoTitleBar"> <item name="android:windowBackground">@drawable/window_background_descriptor</item> window_background_descriptor.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <bitmap xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:src="@drawable/window_background" android:tileMode="repeat" />

    I am getting some HTML text from a remote server which I am displaying inside a WebView. I need to format the text display and set a font size and color for the WebView. The only way I can think of is: pre-pending the HTML string received with a tag and specify the font information there. What is the correct way to do this?

  • How to fix a Sticky Footer that works, but after a browser window is resized, the footer overlaps.

    - by UXdesigner
    Good day, I've been trying to build a perfect footer who sticks at the bottom of the browser window after it's content. And I got help here @ Stack Overflow previously. But after a while, and doing a few tests, found out that after the browser window is resized, and then I scroll down , the footer overlaps...it is causing me a big headache right now and I'd like to fix this so I can move on. I'm going to post the display.css right here: @charset "utf-8"; body, html { margin: 0; padding: 0; text-align: center; position: relative; min-height:100%; /* needed for footer positioning*/ height:100%; • How to keep relative position of WPF elements on background image

    - by Masterfu
    Hi folks, I am new to WPF, so the answer to the following question might be obvious, however it isn't to me. I need to display an image where users can set markers on (As an example: You might want to mark a person's face on a photograph with a rectangle), however the markers need to keep their relative position when scaling the image. Currently I am doing this by using a Canvas and setting an ImageBrush as Background. This displays the image and I can add elements like a Label (as replacement for a rectangle) on top of the image. But when I set a label like this, it's position is absolute and so when the underlying picture is scaled (because the user drags the window larger) the Label stays at it's absolute position (say, 100,100) instead of moving to the new position that keeps it "in sync" with the underlying image. To cut the matter short: When I set a marker on a person's eye, it shouldn't be on the person's ear after scaling the window. Any suggestions on how to do that in WPF? Maybe Canvas is the wrong approach in the first place? I could keep a collection of markers in code and recalculate their position every time the window gets resized, but I hope there is a way to let WPF do that work for me :-) I am interested in hearing your opinions on this. Thanks

  • Keeping footer visible and height 100% in CSS

    - by vtortola
    I'm trying to create a very simple page that contains a container, a header, a left column and a footer: <containter> <header /> <content /> <leftBar /> <footer /> </containter> I want to use the 100% of the height, as I can do with the width, but I simply dont get it work.At his moment I'm usingmin-height, but how could I use theheight:100%` ? What I like is that the footer is always visible, and you scroll the content. Current CSS body { font-family: Verdana; font-size: 0.8em; background-color:#f1f1f1; } #container { border:solid 2px Black; position:absolute; left:10%; width:80%; margin:auto; } #header { height:20px; background: #DDDDDD; } #leftBar { width: 20%; background: #669966; min-height:600px; postion:absolute; top:20px; bottom:20px; } #content { float:right; background-color: #cdcde6; position:absolute; left:20%; right:0px; bottom:20px; top:20px; padding:5px; } #footer { position:absolute; height:20px; }

If I tries to use $.noConflict() it throws me an error in script Uncaught TypeError: Object function (B,C){if(B&&B.$family&&B.uid){return B}var A=$type(B);return($[A])?$[A](B,C,this.document):null} has no method 'noConflict' I tried the given solution below. But it is not working. <script type="text/javascript" src="<%= ResolveUrl("~/Js/jquery-1.3.2.min.js") %>" ></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="<%= ResolveUrl("~/Scripts/SlideShow/js/mootools.js") %>"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="<%= ResolveUrl("~/Scripts/SlideShow/js/slideshow.js") %>"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="<%= ResolveUrl("~/Scripts/SlideShow/js/lightbox.js") %>"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> // <![CDATA[ $.noConflict(); var timeout = 500; var closetimer = 0; var ddmenuitem = 0; function ddmenu_open(){ ddmenu_canceltimer(); ddmenu_close(); ddmenuitem = $(this).find('ul').css('visibility', 'visible'); } function ddmenu_close(){ if(ddmenuitem) ddmenuitem.css('visibility', 'hidden'); } function ddmenu_timer(){ closetimer = window.setTimeout(ddmenu_close, timeout); } function ddmenu_canceltimer(){ if(closetimer){ window.clearTimeout(closetimer); closetimer = null; }} $(document).ready(function(){ $('#ddmenu > li').bind('mouseover', ddmenu_open) $('#ddmenu > li').bind('mouseout', ddmenu_timer) }); document.onclick = ddmenu_close; // ]]> </script> <script type="text/javascript"> //<![CDATA[ window.addEvent('domready', function(){ var data = { '1.jpg': { caption: 'Acoustic Guitar,electric,bass,keyboard, indian vocal traning and Music theory.' }, '2.jpg': { caption: 'Acoustic Guitar,electric,bass,keyboard, indian vocal traning and Music theory.' }, '3.jpg': { caption: 'Acoustic Guitar,electric,bass,keyboard, indian vocal traning and Music theory.' }, '4.jpg': { caption: 'Acoustic Guitar,electric,bass,keyboard, indian vocal traning and Music theory.' } }; // Note the use of "linked: true" which tells Slideshow to auto-link all slides to the full-size image. //http://code.google.com/p/slideshow/wiki/Slideshow#Options: var mootoolsSlideshow = new Slideshow('divbanner', data, {loader:true,captions: true, delay: 5000,controller: false, height: 370,linked: false, hu: '<%= ResolveUrl("~/Scripts/SlideShow/Images/") %>', thumbnails: true, width: 1002}); // Here we create the Lightbox instance. // In this case we will use the "close" and "open" callbacks to pause our show while the modal window is visible. var box = new Lightbox({ 'onClose': function(){ this.pause(false); }.bind(mootoolsSlideshow), 'onOpen': function(){ this.pause(true); }.bind(mootoolsSlideshow) }); }); //]]> </script>

  • CSS: Aligning problem with rounded corners in IE 6/7 but ok in IE8/ Firefox etc

    - by mark smith
    Hi there, can anyone help? I have a problem aligning rounded corners in IE6/7. Basically everything seems to work in Firefox / IE8 but in IE6/7 the left / center / and right divs get misaligned. This basically shows exactly what i am refering to. here is the example in IE8 and everything works ok http://es.drop.io/ern0fye/asset/ie8-jpg And here is the problem (this example is running in IE8 with compat mode set to IE7) http://es.drop.io/ern0fye/asset/ie7-jpg I seem to remember there being a bug in IE6/7 with lineheight or similar but i don't recall exactly. I will paste the CSS and HTML below it is very very simple. Basically there is a left div that holds the left corner image and center div which has a background of RED which is the same as the corner images and finally a right div which holds the right corner image. I would appreciate any input anyone has. Thanks in advance. Here is the CSS .vl-top-left { float:left; width:12px; height:12px; } .vl-top-center { float:left; width: 485px; background-color: #F04A23; height:12px; } .vl-top-right { float:left; height:12px; width:12px; } and the HTML is :- <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head> <title></title> <link href="Stylesheet1.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> </head> <body> <div class="vl-top-left"> <img src="content/images/esquina_sup_izq.gif" width="12" height="12"> </div> <div class="vl-top-center"> &nbsp; </div> <div class="vl-top-right"> <img src="content/images/esquina_sup_der.gif" width="12" height="12"> </div> </body> </html> EDIT Applied also margin:0 and padding:0 on the body and on each DIV but still the left and right div drops down as per the screenshot
