• Need help sending mass emails [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Prevent mail being marked as spam I have an Ubuntu server that I want to be able to send out several thousand emails each containing a generic header and an unique pdf attachment containing an invoice. What I want to know is what would be the best way to accomplish this? Also, are there any other programs I need to install such as anti-virus / verification tools? I would like to be able to know what the procedures for this normally are as I would prefer that the emails are not send to the junk folder of the clients receiving the emails. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

  I'm trying to optimize my .htaccess file to avoid performance issues. In my .htaccess file I have something that looks like this: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} bigbadbot [NC,OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} otherbot1 [NC,OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} otherbot2 [NC] RewriteRule ^.* - [F,L] The first rewrite rule (bigbadbot) handles about 100 requests per second, whereas the other two rewrite rules below it only handle a few requests per hour. My question is, since the first rewrite rule (bigbadbot) handles about 99% of the traffic would it be better to place these rules into two separate rulesets? For example: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} bigbadbot [NC] RewriteRule ^.* - [F,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} otherbot1 [NC,OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} otherbot2 [NC] RewriteRule ^.* - [F,L] Can someone tell me what would be better in terms of performance? • VLAN help on ESX 4/vSphere

  I setup a new VLAN with ID 153 in vSphere for my ESX4 server. The VLAN is setup for virtual machines and then I added a new NIC to the VM I want to be able to access the VM. The NIC is added to VLAN 153, but yet I am unable to ping the VLAN .1 IP that is setup on our Cisco 3750. The IP is properly setup on the Cisco 3750 because I'm able to ping the interface IP from other machines on the network. I'm guessing there must be an issue with the cabling. Any ideas?

  Welcome everyone to T-SQL Tuesday Episode 34!  When last we tuned in, Mike Fal (b|t) hosted Trick Shots.  These highlighted techniques or tricks that you figured out on your own which helped you understand SQL Server better. This month, I'm asking you to look back this past week, year, century, or hour...to a time when you COULDN'T figure it out.  When you were stuck on a SQL Server problem and you had to seek help. In the beginning... SQL Server has changed a lot since I started with it.  <Cranky Old Guy> Back in my day, Books Online was neither.  There were no blogs. Google was the third-place search site. There were perhaps two or three community forums where you could ask questions.  (Besides the Microsoft newsgroups...which you had to access with Usenet.  And endure the wrath of...Celko.)  Your "training" was reading a book, made from real dead trees, that you bought from your choice of brick-and-mortar bookstore. And except for your local user groups, there were no conferences, seminars, SQL Saturdays, or any online video hookups where you could interact with a person. You'd have to call Microsoft Support...on the phone...a LANDLINE phone.  And none of this "SQL Family" business!</Cranky Old Guy> Even now, with all these excellent resources available, it's still daunting for a beginner to seek help for SQL Server.  The product is roughly 1247.4523 times larger than it was 15 years ago, and it's simply impossible to know everything about it.*  So whether you are a beginner, or a seasoned pro of over a decade's experience, what do you do when you need help on SQL Server? That's so meta... In the spirit of offering help, here are some suggestions for your topic: Tell us about a person or SQL Server community who have been helpful to you.  It can be about a technical problem, or not, e.g. someone who volunteered for your local SQL Saturday.  Sing their praises!  Let the world know who they are! Do you have any tricks for using Books Online?  Do you use the locally installed product, or are you completely online with BOL/MSDN/Technet, and why?   Im trying to get my label to print out "your score is ." All i can find online is how to print using printf: int score=2; printf("You scored %i", score); But this does not work when using the setText method. I have also tried labelAnswer.setText:("You scored %i", score); [labelAnswer setText:("You scored %i", score)]; But these do not work. I get an error: "request for member in something not a structure or union" Can anyone help?

  Hi drupal pals, im using drupal 6.15 and doing my first project in drupal . i got an issue while running the below query with db_query i have drupal,delhi keywords in column 'tag' with table name tagging. db_query(SELECT * FROM {tagging} WHERE tag LIKE '%drup%') wont retrieve the correct output. it show null but the query modified like this, db_query(SELECT * FROM {tagging} WHERE tag LIKE 'drup%') retrieve "drupal" as output finally i used the php core mysql_query mysql_query(SELECT * FROM tagging WHERE tag LIKE '%drup%') it retrieve the exact n correct output "drupal" . is any one have solution , Thanxs, Gobi

• Using Library files in Linux

  Hi Guys, Im trying to use some of the functions that are in the /lib/libproc-3.2.6.so library in my Ubuntu Distribution. I have downloaded and installed the header files and they are defined in my source files. Currently this is all im trying to do, just for starters... proc_t **read_proc = readproctab(0); But i get the following compiler error: /tmp/cclqMImG.o: In function `Sysmon::initialise_sysmon()': sysmon.cpp:(.text+0x494): undefined reference to `readproctab' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status Im aware im probably doing some wrong with the command im using to compile it, but due to lack of experience im not sure what im doign wrong. This is the g++ command im using to compile my cpp file: g++ -o sysmon.o sysmon.cpp `pkg-config --libs --cflags gtk+-2.0` Can someone please give me some pointers as to where im going wrong Regards Paul

  Hi I'm somewhat of a newbie to python and I'm using app engine and aptanna studio - I need to run some python shell commands so that i can complete the tasks in this Tutorial on how to set up 118 and django. I have got this all working but i don't understand how i run the python commands to compile the dictionarys such as $ PYTHONPATH=/path/to/googleappengine/python/lib/django/ /path/to/googleappengine/python/lib/django/django/bin/make-messages.py -a To be honest - why am i saying that! I dont know where in aptanna studio i run this command -then worse I don't quite understand what exactly i type based on the above command line. My path to google app engine is D:\Program Files\Google\google_appengine\ Can anyone help shed some light on how i do this from aptanna / the root of my project?? • Need help finding a good curriculum/methodology for self-teaching to program from scratch

  My friend and I have both dedicated ourselves to learning the essentials of programming by June of this year from nearly no programming experience. I have done some research and have come to the conclusion that using the Python language will be the best for us, but I am open to suggestions with good reasoning behind them. My motives for learning programming are: Potential Career Path to be able to create programs that can: solve problems; entertain, i.e. useful applications and games. Online college lectures + book (which I am willing to purchase) sounds like a good combination, but I do not know which would be most suitable for me. tl;dr: What I would like to find from the excellent people here is the following: a good, potentially best, programming course and/or book that is well structured and uses good pedagogy so that a person dedicated to learn programming may do so by following its curriculum (or use it to develop a curriculum) over the course of a few months. Thanks! (I apologize if this type of question is not considered proper etiquette, but I haven't found a consensus on this, and would like some guidance beyond the research I've already done)

  Im using the plone cms and am having trouble with a python script. I get a name error "the global name 'open' is not defined". When i put the code in a seperate python script it works fine and the information is being passed to the python script becuase i can print the query.   Hi guys.. The question im struggling with is this: i have a list of helicopter names in different charters and i need to find out WHICH helicopter has the least amount of charters booked. Once i find that out i need to ONLY display the one that has the least. I so far have this: SELECT Helicopter_Name COUNT (Distinct Charter_NUM) FROM Charter_Table GROUP BY Helicopter Name ^ this is where i am stuck, i realise MIN could be used to pick out the value that is the smallest but i am not sure how to integrate this into the command. • Help submitting an asp.net form with jquery

  I'm trying to post the entire asp.net form to a certain url. I have tried: $.post("http://www.someaddress.com", $("form").serialize()); I have also tried: $.ajax({ type:"POST", url:"http://www.someaddress.com", data: $('form').serialize(), success: function(){ alert('yay'); } }); In both cases the submit is fine but no data is passed along with it. When i test the form.serialize() in firebug console, this shows my form serialized just fine. When i view the submit in fiddler, i can see that the data part is not set. Maybe im not understanding the data part, but every single tutorial shows this as the way to go - serialize the form and set that as data. What must i do to get my serialized form as the data in my request? What am i missing? Also - why does the NET tab in firebug show all these requests as method OPTIONS?

  Please see screenshot Goal: id like to have comments nested 1 level deep The comments would be arranged so that rating of the parent is in descending order the rating of the children comments is irrelevant The left hand side of the screenshot shows the output that Id like. The RHS shows the table data. All of the comments are held in 1 table. Im a beginner with SQL queries, the best I can do is: SELECT * FROM [Comments] WHERE ([ArticleId] = @ArticleId) ORDER BY [ThreadId] DESC, [DateMade] This somewhat does the job, but it obviously neglects the rating. So the above statement would show output where Bobs Comment and all of the children comments are before Amy's and her childrens comments. How can I run this query correctly?

• Need help with threads in a client/server

  For college, I am developing a local relay chat. I have to program a chat server and client that will only work on sending messages on different terminal windows on the same computer with threads and fifos. The fifos part I am having no trouble, the threads part is the one that is giving me some headaches. The server has one thread for receiving commands from a fifo (used by all clients) and another thread for each client that is connected. For each client that is connected I need to know a certain information. Firstly, I was using global variables, which worked as longs as there was only one client connected, which is much of a chat, to chat alone. So, ideally I would have some data like: -nickname -name -email -etc... per client that is connected. However, I don't know how to do that. I could create a client_data[MAX_NUMBER_OF_THREADS] where client_data was a struct with everything I needed to have access to, but this would require to, in every communication between server and client to ask for the id of the client in the array client_data and that does not seem very pratical I could also instantiate a client_data immediately after creating the thread but it would only be available in that block, and that is not very pratical either. As you can see I am in need of a little guidance here. Any comment, piece of code or link to any relevant information is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

• Servlet doesnt appear to execute in a threaded manner

  I have developed a simple server using Tomcat which runs a servlet. The servlet calls a command line program - which takes about 20 seconds to execute then returns the result to the user via JSON. The problem is - if i make above 2 simultaneous requests, the servlet blocks until one of the previous requests is completed. An example of this can be seen below - "Im in" is the top of the servlet, and the list of results is after the servlet is executed. All requests were made at the same time - but you can clearly see they are not dealt with simultaneously. What setting do I need to change in tomcat in order to have all requests handeled at the same time? • DotNetOpenAuth I need some help please

  I know this has been posted before, but never really answered, I'm using the DotNetOpenAuth to try and do GoogleID login, and every time I do details = OResponse.GetExtension<ClaimsResponse>(); I always, always, always get back null, I don't get whats the point of the GoogleID if I can't get back any information, I would think at the very least I would get an email address, so I could associate it other login information in my databse. I just don't understand could really use some help, Im probably just looking at openID in the wrong way. I'm using ASP.NET and looking to use openID/Facebook as my sole means of logging in users, I really don't want to mess with membership roles, or extra junk that ASP.NET likes to add.
