• Does sphider can be a search engine for intranet ?

  Hello, Sphinx is a kind of search engine but it should be installed on the server. But i can't install it on the server, so i have to find another solution. Actually, i have tested sphider in a small site. But when I want to integrate it in my intranet, it doesn't work. The error code: 1. Retrieving: http://localhost/XXX at 16:44:20. The internal IPs of apache vhost configuration file which I was posting were treaated as links using apache as a front end to Tomcat application Moderators should behave more sensibly.I am new to this forum.How do you say the question is not real when your forum is not allowing me to post links to snapshots so that some one can understand what I asked.

  What is the best strategy to establish links and reverse links to my contacts stored in BBDB? My Outline is similar to this: * Projects ** a ** b -> link to contact? ** c * Notes ** 2014-04-02 Meeting with Contact A -> link to contact? How can I create a workflow so that all references to this contact are shown, once I open this contact in BBDB? Currently I use a "hack" where I manually enter links to the entries in the "Notes" field of that entry. But as it is not possible to inclide org-mode outlines in the "Notes" filed, it is an appalling list unusable links.

• Best of "The Moth" 2009

  Not wanting to break the tradition (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008) below are some blog posts I picked from my blogging last year. As you can see by comparing with the links above, 2009 marks my lowest output yet with only 64 posts, but hopefully the quality has not been lowered ;-) 1. Parallel Computing was a strong focus of course. You can find links to most of that content aggregated in the post where I shared my entire parallelism session. Related to that was the link to the screencast I shared of the Parallel Computing Features Tour.2. • Open Multiple Sites Without Reopening the Menus in Firefox

  Are you frustrated with having to reopen your menus for each website that you need or want to view? Now you can keep those menus open while opening multiple websites with the Stay-Open Menu extension for Firefox. Stay-Open Menu in Action You can start using the extension as soon as you have installed it…simply access your favorite links in the “Bookmarks Menu, Bookmarks Toolbar, Awesome Bar, or History Menu” and middle click on the appropriate entries. Here you can see our browser opening the Productive Geek website and that the “Bookmarks Menu” is still open. As soon as you left click on a link or click outside the menus they will close normally like before. Note: Middle clicked links open in new tabs. The only time during our tests that a newly opened link “remained in the background” was for any links opened from the “Awesome Bar”. But as soon as the “Awesome Bar” was closed the new tabs automatically focused to the front. A link being opened from the “History Menu”…still open while the webpage is loading. Options The options are simple to sort through…enable or disable the additional “stay open” functions and enable automatic menu closing if desired. Conclusion If you get frustrated with having to reopen menus to access multiple webpages at one time then you might want to give this extension a try.   With all the news and focus on the new features coming in Silverlight 5 I thought I’d take a few minutes to remind folks about the work that Microsoft has done on LightSwitch since the applications created by LightSwitch are Silverlight applications. LightSwitch makes it easier for non-coders to build business applications and easier for coders to maintain them. For those not familiar with LightSwitch, it is a new tool that provides a easier and quicker way for coder and non-coder types alike to create line-of-business applications for the desktop, the web, and the cloud. The target audience for this tool are those power-user types who create Access applications for their organization. While those Access applications fill an immediate need, they typically aren’t very scalable, extendable and/or maintainable by the development staff of the organization. LightSwitch creates applications based on technologies built into Visual Studio thus making it easier for corporate developers to extend and maintain them. LightSwitch is currently in beta but it will ultimately become a new addition to the Visual Studio line of products. Go ahead and download the beta to get a better idea of what the product can do for your organization. After changing vip_iface strings to point to right devices, e.g., br0 instead of eth0, and defining "/mnt/loopback|30G", in Cinder's block-device string, am able to navigate through openstack dashboard, error free. • Why does SEO based code tips not appear to affect ranking?

  I've been researching various methods for SEO where pages have precise titles, keywords are highlighted with h tags and tick the many boxes stated in good page mark up for SEO. However when looking at some top ranked search sites on google for key terms they have terrible SEO based mark up. Really long page titles, no tags, limited appearance of keywords in the text and so on. SEO analysis services rate them lower than other sites, yet these sites rank really high. Even with a low number of back-links they are high, so I don't understand how these sites earn the position when they appear inferior to those below them which have better mark up and links. I don't want to cause trouble my mentioning sites or keywords etc. but looking in google at 'executive search' the roughly 5th placed site makes no sense why it should be highly rank, especially with all the added .swfs. The same applies for the top of 'Japan Executive Search'. My main point is that these sites seem to not have all the important structural rules stated in seo page rating applications and general suggested best practice, nor do they show large back-links. It makes me feel like there is no point bothering to write decent mark up if it really doesn't matter. Can anyone explain how sites with such mark-up, and low back-links can outrank well written and structured sites with greater linkage? Sorry if this is a fuzzy question, I want to avoid singling out any sites for example, but it really has me perplexed that sites which appear to ignore the suggested best practices rank so well.

• Do any CDN services offer multiple urls (or aliases) for your files?

  Lets say a company has multiple commercial web properties that happen to use a lot of the same images on each site. For SEO reasons, the sites must not appear to be related to eachother in any way. This means that the sites can't all link to the same image, even though they all use the same one. Therefore, an image is uploaded to each site and served from each site separately. In order to improve maintainability and latency, lets say the company wanted to use a CDN service. What I'm wondering is, if you upload a file, like an image or something, to a CDN, is there basically one single URL that you access that image at? Or do some (or all) CDN services offer alias URLs so that you can access the same resource from multiple URLs? Example of undesirable situation: Both sites link to the same file URL Site ABC links to <img src="http://123.cdnservice.com/some-path/myimage.jpg"/> Site XYZ links to <img src="http://123.cdnservice.com/some-path/myimage.jpg"/> Example of DESIRABLE situation: Both sites link to the same file via different URLs Site ABC links to <img src="http://123.cdnservice.com/some-path/myimage.jpg"/> Site XYZ links to <img src="http://123.cdnservice.com/some-alias-path/myimage.jpg"/> So in the end, there is only one single file, myimage.jpg on the CDN server, but it is accessible from multiple URLs. Is this possible with CDN services? I know this would make browsers cache the same image twice, but at least it would be better for maintainability. Only one file would ever have to be uploaded.

• How to fix this navigation issue in my site?

  First off I use webs.com for the creation of my site. I have a very basic layout. List of links of the left and content on the right with a heading up top. Now in my list of links every link is an article that I wrote, I have about 25 links going down the left hand side of my site. Problem is when I try out new themes that support horizontal navigation as opposed to vertical navigation I get either a messy overflow of links Or a link called "more" which lists the rest of the articles in a drop down-list across my site. What I wish I had was a simple horizontal navigation like" "home, about, articles" and when the user clicks on articles it would then bring them to a page containing all my articles there. I would prefer it to be in a table like display. That way is not a long list. Anyways any ideas on how I can fix this issue im having? Please let me know if you need more information.

  I am currently making a bilingual website and I'd like to get nice SEO results of course. Here's my idea: The internal links would be composed of the "www" subdomain so that people can share links regardless of their language. Anyway, their language is determined by the HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE PHP variable. So, they would see http:// www.site.com/mydocument/123 in their adress bar and never see any links like "http:// fr.site.com/mydocument/123" or "http://en.site.com/mydocument/123" The user can always switch the page's language thanks to links in the footer. The switching language link would be : http:// fr.site.com/mydocument/123 , and clicking on it would change his language session and redirects the user to http:// www.site.com/mydocument/123 In case of a crawling bot: I read that if the HTTP_USER_LANGUAGE variable was missing then it's a crawling bot. So, in that case, we set the defaut language as English. Each page, as I mentionned earlier, has a link for another language: On the page: http:// www.site.com/document/1323, the link http:// fr.site.com/document/1323 can be seen by the bot and be crawled. What do you think about this practise ? Would I get good SEO results for each language ?

• How do sites avoid SEO issues / legalities with subdomain unique ids?

  I was looking through a few websites recently and noticed a trend I'm not sure I understand. Sites are creating unique referral URLs for customers in the form of: http://customname.site.com (If somebody were to use http://www.site.com/customname it would function the same way). I can see the sites are using 302 redirects at some point using Google Chrome then doing some sort of htaccess redirect, taking the subdomain name (customname) and applying it as a referral parameter then keeping in session during the entire process. However, there must be thousands of these custom URLs that people are typing in. How are each one of these "subdomains" not treated as separate URLs which in turn are redirected to the same page (in short, generating tons of links all pointing to the same page which Google would normally frown upon)? Additionally, the links also appear on the site themselves as clickable links so I'm not sure how these are not tracked. Similarly, the "unique" url is not indexed or cached in any Google search results. How is this capability handled? It does NOT highlight the referral aspect, but a true example of this is visiting http://sfgiants.com which does a 302 redirect to the much longer proper San Francisco Giants MLB homepage. I am wondering how SFgiants.com is not indexed (assuming that direct shortened link appears on several MLB pages)? 1 - I know these are 302 redirects, I can see this on the sites network flow. 2 - These links do in fact appear on the page itself because in some areas (for example, the bottom of the page may say: send this page to a friend! http://name.site.com/ which in turn would again redirect to something like http://www.site.com?id=name so the id value could be stored in session

  I have a application that has several dialogs in it. In the chm file I have help related to each dialog . I defined Map#s ( the keyword to display help with) in my chm file for each dialog so that I can open the related help of the dialog. for example : My chm file name is Example.chm And the ID for the dialog help are mapped in the chm file: Dialog1.htm Dialog2.htm I am using System.Windows.Forms.Help.ShowHelp(null, @"C:\Example.chm", Dialog1.htm); System.Windows.Forms.Help.ShowHelp(null, @"C:\Example.chm"); Either of the above is not working.. Please help!!

  .load() was working fine, but for some reason it's not in Chrome now (presumably some kind of update). I'm on Chrome 5.0.375.55. • Symbolic Link in Tomcat 5 is not working after setting allowLinking="true"

  I created a symbolic link to a .htm file. ln -sf /u105/app/ptelrep/reports/kfx/generated/KFX026_Wholesale_1.htm /u105/app/ptelrep/reports/kfx/generated/KFX026_Wholesale.htm The link works. I have the configuration file, reports.xml: /u355/app/ptelrep/tomcat50-jwsdp/conf/Catalina/localhost/reports.xml I have a JSP file which has link points to the symbolic link: onMouseOver="toggleDiv('div1',1)" onMouseOut="toggleDiv('div1',0)"Detail Usage I restarted the tomcat but the symlink is not working. When I change the symlink to a point to the original file, it works. Can anyone know what the problem is?

• Cstom handler on IIS 7.5 doesn't work

  Hi, I am new to IIS 7.5. I have an application in asp.net 2.0, which has its own custom URL rewriting mechanism. All the requests on the browser with .htm will be mapped to .aspx. It works fine on IIS 6, but somehow I could not get it working on IIS 7.5. On IIS 6, I go to Application PropertiesConfigurationMappings and add a new extension .htm with the executable as aspnet_isapi.dll On IIS 7.5 i added a handler mapping, with path as .htm and executable as aspnet_ispai.dll But the request does not even come to global.asax. If i try the URL with .aspx extension, pages load properly. Any idea how to set up custom mappings in iis 7.5?

• .htaccess rewriting rule

  I have a folder within a site that is a seperate web app than the parent. Both are working fine, but when I go to the domain.com/folder/ path, I would like it to forward me to domain.com/folder/index.htm for consistency. This is the htaccess rule I was trying, but it wasn't working for me and I am not sure what I did wrong. RewriteRule ^folder/$ folder/index.htm RewriteRule ^folder$ folder/index.htm I tried these rules at the start and end of the rule list to see if anything was overriding and nothing appears to be.
