  • SlimDX Device.Reset crashes with a "D3DERR_INVALIDCALL: Invalid call (-2005530516)" error

    Hi All, We recently upgraded from 2005 to VS 2008 (Windows XP). We use SlimDx in one of our projects. All was working ok after the upgrade, except my "Recover" function, which gets called on devicelost/device reset which crashes with D3DERR_INVALIDCALL: Invalid call (-2005530516) I use Ctrl-Alt-Del and then "Escape" to simulate device lost. void Recover() { try { if (res.Code == D3DERR_DEVICENOTRESET) { res = m_device.Reset(m_presentParams); //Crashes on this. if (res.IsSuccess) { m_deviceLost = false; } } } catch(Exception e) {} } Is this something to do with VS2008, as it used to work nicely with 2005 Thanks for your help.

  • APNS: Not receving any feedback for registerForRemoteNotificationTypes: neither +/-

    Hi, I have been trying to use the default code in the iPhone APNS documentation to generate a device token using registerForRemoteNotificationTypes() but without succes. Neither the didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken or the didFailToRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithError is called. I had placed a UIAlert in both these methods- both did not appear. My iPhone is acceesing APNS using Wi/Fi using DHCP.(& am able to browse ) Is there any other setting that needs to to be done to genrate a device token? can someone post a working code which can be used to generate device token?     Hi All, We are launching a new REST API and I wanted some community input on best practices around how we should have input parameters formatted: Right now, our API is very JSON-centric (only returns JSON). The debate of whether we want/need to return XML is a separate issue. As our API output is JSON centric, we have been going down a path where our inputs are a bit JSON centric and I've been thinking that may be convenient for some but weird in general. For example, to get a few product details where multiple products can be pulled at once we currently have: http://our.api.com/Product?id=["101404","7267261"] Should we simplify this as: http://our.api.com/Product?id=101404,7267261 Or is having JSON input handy? More of a pain? We may want to accept both styles but does that flexibility actually cause more confusion and head aches (maintainability, documentation, etc.)? A more complex case is when we want to offer more complex inputs. For example, if we want to allow multiple filters on search: http://our.api.com/Search?term=pumas&filters={"productType":["Clothing","Bags"],"color":["Black","Red"]} We don't necessarily want to put the filter types (e.g. productType and color) as request names like this: http://our.api.com/Search?term=pumas&productType=["Clothing","Bags"]&color=["Black","Red"] Because we wanted to group all filter input together. In the end, does this really matter? It may be likely that there are so many JSON utils out there that the input type just doesn't matter that much.     Supposing we have an Xcode iPhone project with 2 targets, is it possible to build and install both of them on the device with one click? Of course, I understand we will not be able to "build and run" both, but can we at least install them? And to extend this concept a bit a bit: are there any scripts to achieve the same thing but with multiple iPhone projects instead of multiple targets in one project? This would be useful when you want to load all your apps on a new development device and don't want to go through all your projects one by one and install.

  • Microsecond (or one ms) time resolution on an embedded device (Linux Kernel)

    Hey guys, I have a kernel module I've built that requires at least 1 ms time resolution. I currently use do_gettimeofday() but I'm concerned that this won't work once I move my module to an embedded device. The device has a 180 Mz processor (MIPS) and the default HZ value in the kernel is 100. Thus using jiffies will only give me at best 10 ms resolution. That won't cut it. What I'd like to know is if do_gettimeofday() is based on the timer interrupt (HZ). Can it be guaranteed to provide at least 1 ms of resolution? Thanks!

    How do you make VS 2008 automatically install SQL Server CE 3.5 when debugging (F5) a CF app on a windows Mobile 5.0 device? VS used to do this automatically, but now it stopped and I don't know why. I have changed the structure of my solution and the projects, but it is still using SQL Server CE 3.5. It used to also install the Query Analyzer as well which was useful. I frequently uninstall all the programs on the device or do hard reboots so installing this manually is what I am trying to avoid.

As I know, I've to call makeTransliteratable(elementIds, opt_options) method in the API call to define which input fields to make transliteratable, and in my case here I can't predefine those fields manually. When i debug the code it says database path "out of scope" on the break point and it does not compile the statement.   • javascript/jquery input fields cleanup

    I've created a few input fields, that I am cleaning up as the user types. So, I'm using a keystroke detection event, like .keyup() It's all working very well, but I do notice one thing that's rather annoying for the users. While the script is cleaning the data as they type, their cursor is being sent to the end of the input field. So, if you want to edit the middle of the value, you're cursor immediately goes to the end of the box. Does anyone know of a way to maintain the cursor's current position inside the input field? I'm not holding my breath, but I thought I'd ask.     I'm working on an input system, wrapping DirectInput and XInput. Currently XInput devices are enumerated twice, once as XInput and once as DirectInput (since they support both). How can I find out if a given DirectInput device also supports XInput? There is this MSDN page on the topic, but it requires wbemidl.h and wmsstd.h which aren't available in mingw/gcc (and for some reason I want to avoid msvc - probably by habit). I don't think blacklisting device names/guids is a good solution, but is there a better one? Thanks.

  • Cocoa/Objective-C - Child window with text input without main window becoming inactive

    Hello All, I have a need to spawn a window that will hover just above my main window in a cocoa application. I want this main window to allow the user to enter some text in an input box. All is well until the text input box actually gains focus. The main window becomes "deactivated." This window is borderless and is a slightly custom shape -- its more like a hover card than anything else, I suppose. Basically, I'd like this thing to work almost exactly like Spotlight (Apple + Space) -- you can enter text, but this is such an an ancillary operation that in the context of the greater UX, you don't want the jarring effect of the main window graying out (becoming inactive). You'll notice when you have some application open and in-focus, spotlight will not cause the window of that application to become inactive. This problem arises because text input seems to REQUIRE that the child window become the key window (it will not let you place the cursor in the text input field). When it becomes key, the main window becomes inactive. So far I've tried: Subclassing NSWindow for my main application and overriding isKeyWindow such that it only loses key when the application is no longer the users focus (as opposed to the window). This had the unintended effect of colliding with key status of the child window and having very strange effects on the keyboard input (some keys are not captured, like delete) Creating a view instead of a window. Doesn't work because of this problem -- you cannot draw over a Webkit WebView these days. Anybody Cocoa/OSX wizards have any ideas? I've become a little obsessed with this one. An itch I can't scratch.

  • Consuming a USB HID device in Windows CE 6.0 using c#

    I am working on an Embedded Windows CE project and am interested in accessing a USB HID device through one of its USB Host ports. All I really need to read are the raw HID spec packets. On a windows computer, I have a working program using hid.dll, but as far as I have researched, there is no equivalent on CE. I know there is the usbhid.dll, but I'm not sure if it is applicable for this situation. I would prefer not to write a kernel level driver, as I would like to do my coding in c#. Has anyone had experience consuming an HID device on Windows CE?

  • Scroll an input box to the cursor position in javascript

    I've written a simple JS function that places the cursor at the end of the contents of an input box when it receives focus (the most common action in the box being to append). I haven't checked in IE, but when there is more text than is visible, even moving the cursor to the end of input doesn't scroll the view to the end of input in firefox 3.6. Any idea how to do this? P.S. And no I'm not using JQuery, nor is it an option ;)

    Hi I've been searching for a way to do this, but could not find anything I want to have a: a disabled input text field, called #XX. This input will store the selected value from datepicker (as this input is disabled I won't be able to use this to trigger the datePicker) A button, besides #XX. When user clicks this button, datePicker will show. User will select the date, and this date will be assigned to disabled input #XX. I want this so user can't change manually -by typing crap- the selected date Also, should I validate if date was entered using #XX.val()? or is there a better way? Thanks

    I'm creating a form where I'm eliminating the use of a save button. The form is made up of input text boxes and textareas. After the user enters data into the input field, I want to trigger an onBlur function and change the input into a span that contains the information that the user entered. I also want to have the ability to edit this information, so if the user clicks on the newly created span with text, it will turn back into the input field with the current information for their editing pleasure. For reference, I'm looking to have a functionality pretty much like on editing a photo title on Flickr. If possible, I'd also like to have the textbox show "saving..." for half a second after the blur to reflect interaction with server.

  • Error in PushNotification from iPhone Device

    Hi All, I am trying to do a sample project on the Apple the push notification. I created an AppID, done some terminal commands, and finally got a Provisional Certificate for do the same. I got the certificate installed on my device and SDK. Till now every thing goes fine. But when i try to run the app on the device.... it doesnt.
