  • Non blocking IO call from Django controller from a Windows service

    - by Anders
Hi all, I have a CherryPy server with a Django application running as a Windows service, inside a controller I need to make a call to wmic, the problem is, so far I have only been able to implement a blocking operation. Does anyone have any recommendation for a non blocking operation so, at least more then one person at a time can access this controller and extract information from wmic? Thanks in advance, Anders

  • Disable all non-clustered indexes

    - by spender
I select a number of non-clustered indexes from my database with the following: SELECT sys.objects.name tableName, sys.indexes.name indexName FROM sys.indexes JOIN sys.objects ON sys.indexes.object_id = sys.objects.object_id WHERE sys.indexes.type_desc = 'NONCLUSTERED' AND sys.objects.type_desc = 'USER_TABLE' I'd like to run the following over each of the results: ALTER INDEX indexName ON tableName DISABLE How would I go about doing this? Is there a better way?

  • Why does writeUTFBytes mess up non-english characters?

    - by Lost_in_code
I'm writing all sorts of multi lingual text to .txt files using AIR's fileStream.writeUTFBytes() For english characters everything works perfectly. But as soon as there are chinese, arabic or any other non-english characters the sentences are totally messed up. For example: ???????????.... becomes ÂØpÁùħßÂèîÊëÑÂO±Â?àÁöÑÁ°ÆÊ=°Áà±.... How can this be fixed?

  • Cocoa for the non-techinical

    - by annoyed
How would you describe and explain Cocoa in non-technical terms, with lots of analogies to common, everyday things. For example, imagine you are describing it to a 5-year-old who keeps asking why? at the end if each explanation. This would invariable delve into the theory of OO so it could get lengthy, but the concept is important to the 'why' of Cocoa.

  • Streaming video using non standard protocols

    - by Dan
Hi - My company makes DVRs that specialize in streaming live and recorded video. The video is encoded using standard MPEG-4 codecs so the codecs in Android should have no trouble with them. However, the video is recorded using non-standard file formats and is streamed using our proprietary protocol (among other things we embed additional data such as watermarks with each frame of video). Is there any way I can take my stream pull out the frames and have it play on an Android device? Thanks!

  • Explicit specialization in non-namespace scope

    - by Mark
template<typename T> class CConstraint { public: CConstraint() { } virtual ~CConstraint() { } template <typename TL> void Verify(int position, int constraints[]) { } template <> void Verify<int>(int, int[]) { } }; Compiling this under g++ gives the following error: Explicit specialization in non-namespace scope 'class CConstraint' In VC, it compiles fine. Can anyone please let me know the workaround?

  • Association not imported in EF4 designer for non-primary key

    - by Rommel Manalo
The relationship 'FK_EXTERNAL_ISMARKETI_MARKETIN' has columns that are not part of the key of the table on the primary side of the relationship. The relationship was excluded. USE [Instruments.UnitTest] GO ALTER TABLE [Instr].[ExternalIdentification] WITH CHECK ADD CONSTRAINT [FK_EXTERNAL_ISMARKETI_MARKETIN] FOREIGN KEY([InstrumentID], [MarketInstrumentID]) REFERENCES [Instr].[MarketInstrument] ([InstrumentID], [MarketInstrumentID]) GO ALTER TABLE [Instr].[ExternalIdentification] CHECK CONSTRAINT [FK_EXTERNAL_ISMARKETI_MARKETIN] GO I'm using an association for NON-PRIMARY KEY columns, is this possible in the EF4?

  • non-latin email address validation

    - by Eric Di Bari
Now that ICann is allowing non-latin-character domain names, should I be concerned about e-mail validation? Currently, my sites are using php functions to ensure some alpha-numeric character set in each segment of an email address. Will these other character sets, such as Cyrillic, Arabic, and Chinese, pass validation? Are there recommended php functions to utilize for this?

  • C++ non-member functions for nested template classes

    - by beldaz
    I have been writing several class templates that contain nested iterator classes, for which an equality comparison is required. As I believe is fairly typical, the comparison is performed with a non-member (and non-friend) operator== function. In doing so, my compiler (I'm using Mingw32 GCC 4.4 with flags -O3 -g -Wall) fails to find the function and I have run out of possible reasons. In the rather large block of code below there are three classes: a Base class, a Composed class that holds a Base object, and a Nested class identical to the Composed class except that it is nested within an Outer class. Non-member operator== functions are supplied for each. These classes are in templated and untemplated forms (in their own respective namespaces), with the latter equivalent to the former specialised for unsigned integers. In main, two identical objects for each class are compared. For the untemplated case there is no problem, but for the templated case the compiler fails to find operator==. What's going on? #include <iostream> namespace templated { template<typename T> class Base { T t_; public: explicit Base(const T& t) : t_(t) {} bool equal(const Base& x) const { return x.t_==t_; } }; template<typename T> bool operator==(const Base<T> &x, const Base<T> &y) { return x.equal(y); } template<typename T> class Composed { typedef Base<T> Base_; Base_ base_; public: explicit Composed(const T& t) : base_(t) {} bool equal(const Composed& x) const {return x.base_==base_;} }; template<typename T> bool operator==(const Composed<T> &x, const Composed<T> &y) { return x.equal(y); } template<typename T> class Outer { public: class Nested { typedef Base<T> Base_; Base_ base_; public: explicit Nested(const T& t) : base_(t) {} bool equal(const Nested& x) const {return x.base_==base_;} }; }; template<typename T> bool operator==(const typename Outer<T>::Nested &x, const typename Outer<T>::Nested &y) { return x.equal(y); } } // namespace templated namespace untemplated { class Base { unsigned int t_; public: explicit Base(const unsigned int& t) : t_(t) {} bool equal(const Base& x) const { return x.t_==t_; } }; bool operator==(const Base &x, const Base &y) { return x.equal(y); } class Composed { typedef Base Base_; Base_ base_; public: explicit Composed(const unsigned int& t) : base_(t) {} bool equal(const Composed& x) const {return x.base_==base_;} }; bool operator==(const Composed &x, const Composed &y) { return x.equal(y); } class Outer { public: class Nested { typedef Base Base_; Base_ base_; public: explicit Nested(const unsigned int& t) : base_(t) {} bool equal(const Nested& x) const {return x.base_==base_;} }; }; bool operator==(const Outer::Nested &x, const Outer::Nested &y) { return x.equal(y); } } // namespace untemplated int main() { using std::cout; unsigned int testVal=3; { // No templates first typedef untemplated::Base Base_t; Base_t a(testVal); Base_t b(testVal); cout << "a=b=" << testVal << "\n"; cout << "a==b ? " << (a==b ? "TRUE" : "FALSE") << "\n"; typedef untemplated::Composed Composed_t; Composed_t c(testVal); Composed_t d(testVal); cout << "c=d=" << testVal << "\n"; cout << "c==d ? " << (c==d ? "TRUE" : "FALSE") << "\n"; typedef untemplated::Outer::Nested Nested_t; Nested_t e(testVal); Nested_t f(testVal); cout << "e=f=" << testVal << "\n"; cout << "e==f ? " << (e==f ? "TRUE" : "FALSE") << "\n"; } { // Now with templates typedef templated::Base<unsigned int> Base_t; Base_t a(testVal); Base_t b(testVal); cout << "a=b=" << testVal << "\n"; cout << "a==b ? " << (a==b ? "TRUE" : "FALSE") << "\n"; typedef templated::Composed<unsigned int> Composed_t; Composed_t c(testVal); Composed_t d(testVal); cout << "c=d=" << testVal << "\n"; cout << "d==c ?   • Stream/string/bytearray transformations in Python 3

    - by Craig McQueen
Python 3 cleans up Python's handling of Unicode strings. I assume as part of this effort, the codecs in Python 3 have become more restrictive, according to the Python 3 documentation compared to the Python 2 documentation. For example, codecs that conceptually convert a bytestream to a different form of bytestream have been removed: base64_codec bz2_codec hex_codec And codecs that conceptually convert Unicode to a different form of Unicode have also been removed (in Python 2 it actually went between Unicode and bytestream, but conceptually it's really Unicode to Unicode I reckon): rot_13 My main question is, what is the "right way" in Python 3 to do what these removed codecs used to do? They're not codecs in the strict sense, but "transformations". But the interface and implementation would be very similar to codecs. I don't care about rot_13, but I'm interested to know what would be the "best way" to implement a transformation of line ending styles (Unix line endings vs Windows line endings) which should really be a Unicode-to-Unicode transformation done before encoding to byte stream, especially when UTF-16 is being used, as discussed this other SO question.
