  • My Website (ports) Have Been Hijacked!

    - by ChrisD
This is one of the scary problems that turns out to have a pretty easy solution. I tried to view one of my websites hosted by IIS on my primary workstation and the site wouldn’t render.   I checked IIS Admin and the site was there, but I couldn’t access it on either port 443 or port 80. In reviewing the event log I found the following entry: The World Wide Web Publishing Service (WWW Service) did not register the URL prefix http://x.x.x.x:80/ for site 1. The site has been disabled. The data field contains the error number I disabled the IIS Service (issued Net Stop W3svc from an admin command prompt) and then scanned for anything listening on port 80. C:\Users\cdarrigo>netstat -ano |findstr 80   TCP    0.0.0.0:80             0.0.0.0:0              LISTENING       3124 This confirmed that something had hijacked my ports.  I had another process that was listening on port 80 and it was preventing IIS from serving up my site.   A quick phone call to a friend taught me that the last number shown above (3124) is the process id of the process that's listening on the port.  So whatever process had PID 3124 had to be stopped. I scanned my process list, and determined it was, much to my surprise, Skype.  I exited the Skype application and restarted the IIS service, then manually restarted the web site.  This time, browsing to my site resulted in successfully viewing my site. So why was Skype listening on those ports?  A quick Google search revealed the answer: “Skype listens on those ports to increase quality.” really? “you might become a supernode if those ports are open.” No thanks.  I’m not sure how accurate those statements are, but I want to disable this behavior in Skype none the less. Fortunately Skype provides a configuration option to turn off this behavior.   Launch Skype and log in.  From the Tools menu, select Options Select the Advanced options and then Connection Uncheck the box Use Port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections Back to development bliss.

  • Open port in gufw is closed, no incoming connection on deluge

    - by user66987
    I have a problem configuring gufw. I open ports on it, but when i test in deluge it shows as closed. Any help on setting up the firewall would be greatly appreciated. This is the output I get on the firewall in terminal: Active Internet connections (only servers) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:53 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1346/dnsmasq tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:631 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 970/cupsd tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:55521 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 17362/python tcp6 0 0 ::1:631 :::* LISTEN 970/cupsd tcp6 0 0 :::55521 :::* LISTEN 17362/python udp 0 0 10.0.0.125:1900 0.0.0.0:* 17362/python udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:1900 0.0.0.0:* 17362/python udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:1900 0.0.0.0:* 17362/python udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:53162 0.0.0.0:* 17362/python udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:53 0.0.0.0:* 1346/dnsmasq udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:68 0.0.0.0:* 1312/dhclient udp 0 0 10.0.0.125:36948 0.0.0.0:* 17362/python udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:37240 0.0.0.0:* 17362/python udp 0 0 10.0.0.125:6771 0.0.0.0:* 17362/python udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:6771 0.0.0.0:* 17362/python udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:6771 0.0.0.0:* 17362/python udp 0 0 10.0.0.125:50034 0.0.0.0:* 17362/python udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:58340 0.0.0.0:* 982/avahi-daemon: r udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:5353 0.0.0.0:* 982/avahi-daemon: r udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:56947 0.0.0.0:* 17362/python udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:57059 0.0.0.0:* 17362/python udp6 0 0 :::49793 :::* 982/avahi-daemon: r udp6 0 0 :::5353 :::* 982/avahi-daemon: r kenneth@kenneth-K53U:~$ sudo ufw status Status: aktive Til Handling Fra --- -------- --- 6881:6891/tcp ALLOW Anywhere 6881:6891/udp ALLOW Anywhere 55521/tcp ALLOW Anywhere 6881:6891/tcp ALLOW Anywhere (v6) 6881:6891/udp ALLOW Anywhere (v6) 55521/tcp ALLOW Anywhere (v6) I also want to be able to use the firewall with linuxdc, so I need other ports open as well. This is connected to the firewall. Because when I turn off the firewall, the port is open. So this is not a problem with my modem. Do I need the firewall? The broadband modem has a hardware firewall. Update: Forgot to add. When my firewall is inactive, it closes ports after a time. So when I use linuxdc, I have to flush iptabels and activating it again. Is this supposed to do this when the firewall is deactivated? Update again: All my ports are closed now, flushing the iptable does not work anymore. I have uninstalled gufw, but still all my ports are closed. And to say it again, this has nothing to do with my broadband modem since it worked when I used windows 7. I need help to open the ports.

  • Why is my CPU being used while doing nothing?

    - by Jop
    I have installed Ubuntu GNOME in BIOS mode on my MacBook (BIOS mode so that the proprietary NVIDIA drivers work. I need them for gaming.). For some reason, a lot of CPU is being used while not really doing anything. It swings between 20-30% on both cores, usually. But when I look at the list of processes and sort by CPU usage, I do not see anything special. No processes intensively doing anything. How can I fix this? EDIT: Output of top command. jop@jop-MacBook:~$ top top - 17:08:02 up 41 min, 2 users, load average: 0,51, 0,69, 0,95 Tasks: 202 total, 2 running, 200 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie %Cpu(s): 11,9 us, 5,8 sy, 0,0 ni, 80,3 id, 0,5 wa, 0,0 hi, 1,5 si, 0,0 st KiB Mem: 7908316 total, 2919940 used, 4988376 free, 153248 buffers KiB Swap: 3906244 total, 0 used, 3906244 free, 1326544 cached PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 3785 root 20 0 195m 82m 26m S 22,9 1,1 2:43.77 Xorg 4429 jop 20 0 1543m 150m 60m S 7,3 1,9 1:26.26 compiz 4198 jop 20 0 633m 21m 11m S 1,7 0,3 0:04.96 unity-panel-ser 7425 jop 20 0 564m 18m 12m S 1,7 0,2 0:00.84 gnome-terminal 7019 jop 20 0 806m 89m 46m S 1,0 1,2 0:10.01 chrome 7323 jop 20 0 966m 93m 23m S 1,0 1,2 0:06.85 chrome 6742 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0,7 0,0 0:00.43 kworker/0:3 3 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0,3 0,0 0:06.01 ksoftirqd/0 7008 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0,3 0,0 0:00.27 kworker/1:3 7302 jop 20 0 972m 96m 28m S 0,3 1,2 0:06.32 chrome 7310 jop 20 0 382m 63m 39m S 0,3 0,8 0:00.34 chrome 7498 jop 20 0 24840 1600 1120 R 0,3 0,0 0:00.22 top 1 root 20 0 27176 2944 1412 S 0,0 0,0 0:01.58 init 2 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0,0 0,0 0:00.00 kthreadd 5 root 0 -20 0 0 0 S 0,0 0,0 0:00.00 kworker/0:0H 6 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0,0 0,0 0:00.00 kworker/u4:0 7 root rt 0 0 0 0 S 0,0 0,0 0:02.04 migration/0 Even when xorg isn't so busy like when I copied, CPU usage is higher then what the processes use.

  • SAPPHIRE HD 7770 no audio on HDMI TV display

    - by zeroconf
I have SAPPHIRE HD 7770 and cannot get work audio over HDMI. http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1159&lid=1&pid=1452&leg=0 I use Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit version with all current updates. I tried at /etc/default/grub: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash radeon.audio=1" ... it didn't help. It's probably I use proprietary driver -this seems to be open source driver. I use the driver, what jockey-gtk (additional drivers) offered me: ATI/AMD PROPRIETARY FGLRX GRAPHICS DRIVER <---- I installed that one ATI/AMD PROPRIETARY FGLRX GRAPHICS DRIVER (post-release update) So - I installed the first one, because installing second version failed. Everything went fine but no sound at TV display by HDMI. Even Gnome sound mixer doesn't show HDMI choice. Using 32" Samsung B530 LCD TV - http://www.lcdbesttv.com/2010/02/samsung-b530-series-lcd-tv/ I have Asus P8Z77-M motherboard - http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z77M/ - there is also HDMI integrated. When I put HDMI cord to that plug, then even Gnome sound mixer showed HDMI audio but it didn't work. I have set from BIOS, that I use that SAPPHIRE HD 7770 from PCIe. • dpkg crashing while trying to install a package

    While attempting to install a package via apt-get the following. The first error I get is: E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. And, if I run that command the box spins out of control and I get the following in /var/log/syslog Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398546] ------------[ cut here ]------------ Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398552] WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-3.0.0/arch/x86/xen/multicalls.c:182 xen_mc_flush+01c0() Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398561] Modules linked in: acpiphp Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398568] Pid: 31063, comm: java Tainted: G D W 3.0.0-14-virtual #23-Ubuntu Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398576] Call Trace: Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398580] [<c0648265>] ? printk+0x2d/0x2f Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398586] [<c0150462>] warn_slowpath_common+0x72/0xa0 Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398593] [<c0104883>] ? xen_mc_flush+0x1b3/0x1c0 Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398599] [<c0104883>] ? xen_mc_flush+0x1b3/0x1c0 Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398605] [<c01504b2>] warn_slowpath_null+0x22/0x30 Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398611] [<c0104883>] xen_mc_flush+0x1b3/0x1c0 Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398617] [<c0104e7a>] ? xen_extend_mmu_update+0x4a/0x70 Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398624] [<c0106565>] xen_set_pud_hyper+0x75/0x80 Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398630] [<c01065b9>] xen_set_pud+0x49/0x60 Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398636] [<c0132105>] pud_populate+0x45/0x60 Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398642] [<c0208a24>] __pmd_alloc+0x74/0x90 Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398648] [<c0208cb7>] handle_mm_fault+0x277/0x2c0 Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.398655] [<c065f45b>] do_page_fault+0x15b/0x4a0 Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.401923] [<c020ba24>] ? remove_vma+0x44/0x60 Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.401923] [<c020d9b6>] ? sys_mmap_pgoff+0x106/0x1c0 Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.401923] [<c065f300>] ? vmalloc_fault+0x190/0x190 Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.401923] [<c065c79f>] error_code+0x67/0x6c Aug 29 20:21:08 ip-10-202-191-4 kernel: [20571563.401923] ---[ end trace 0b105e2a179ad013 ]---

  • 5.1 surround sound

    - by rocker9455
Ok, So i've always had trouble with enabling 5.1 in ubuntu. Running 'alsamixer': I have: Master, Heaphones, PCM, Front, Front Mi, Front Mi, Surround, Center All are at 100% Card:HDA Intel Chip:Realtek ALC888 (This is my onboard sound, Its a dell studio, with 7.1 integrated sound) Running "speaker-test -c6 -twav" I only get the front 2 speakers (Right/Left) making any noise. The others make no noise at all. I have no other sound card to use as all my PCI slots are used up. I used this guide http://silverlinux.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/how-to-pptp-vpn-on-ubuntu-1204-pptpd.html and it worked fine. I'm able to connect but the problem is, that my IP being changed to "localip" not "remote ip". • Apache 2.4 + PHP-FPM + ProxyPassMatch

    - by apfelbox
I recently installed Apache 2.4 on my local machine, together with PHP 5.4.8 using PHP-FPM. Everything went quite smoothly (after a while...) but there is still a strange error: I configured Apache for PHP-FPM like this: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName localhost DocumentRoot "/Users/apfelbox/WebServer" ProxyPassMatch ^/(.*\.php(/.*)?)$ fcgi://127.0.0.1:9000/Users/apfelbox/WebServer/$1 </VirtualHost> It works, for example if I call http://localhost/info.php I get the correct phpinfo() (it is just a test file). If I call a directory however, I get a 404 with body File not found. and in the error log: [Tue Nov 20 21:27:25.191625 2012] [proxy_fcgi:error] [pid 28997] [client ::1:57204] AH01071: Got error 'Primary script unknown\n' Update I now tried doing the proxying with mod_rewrite: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName localhost DocumentRoot "/Users/apfelbox/WebServer" RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^/(.*\.php(/.*)?)$ fcgi://127.0.0.1:9000/Users/apfelbox/WebServer/$1 [L,P] </VirtualHost> But the problem is: it is always redirecting, because on http://localhost/ automatically http://localhost/index.php is requested, because of DirectoryIndex index.php index.html Update 2 Ok, so I think "maybe check whether there is a file to give to the proxy first: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName localhost DocumentRoot "/Users/apfelbox/WebServer" RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f RewriteRule ^/(.*\.php(/.*)?)$ fcgi://127.0.0.1:9000/Users/apfelbox/WebServer/$1 [L,P] </VirtualHost> Now the complete rewriting does not work anymore... Update 3 Now I have this solution: ServerName localhost DocumentRoot "/Users/apfelbox/WebServer" RewriteEngine on RewriteCond /Users/apfelbox/WebServer/%{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f RewriteRule ^/(.*\.php(/.*)?)$ fcgi://127.0.0.1:9000/Users/apfelbox/WebServer/$1 [L,P] First check, that there is a file to pass to PHP-FPM (with the full and absolute path) and then do the rewriting. This does not work when using URL rewriting inside a subdirectory, also it fails for URLs like http://localhost/index.php/test/ So back to square one. Any ideas?

  • procdump on w3wp.exe: Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed

    - by JakeS
I'm having a problem with an IIS application that occasionally spikes up in CPU usage, and am trying to use procdump to get a memory dump for examination. I'm running "procdump.exe -64 -mA 9999" where 9999 is the pid of the process. But every time I do it, I get an error: Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed. Doing this also recycles the apppool, relieving the CPU spike, so I can't keep trying until I get it right. Does anyone know what is going wrong? EDIT WITH MORE INFO: So far I've failed to generate a debug dump no matter what tool I try. All of them seem to generate the same sort of error. This is 2008 R2 Datacenter running IIS7 with a 64-bit asp.net web site. My best guess is that something is getting blocked, causing some requests to remain open in IIS and gradually using up resources. If I monitor the worker process using the IIS Manager and view all requests, throughout the day I'll start to see some requests that "stick" and run forever. Some of these are for static files. Some are for aspx pages. I cannot see any "common" reason for them. Every once in a while the app pool starts taking up 100% CPU and the only remedy is to kill it.

  • Why is iTunes starting and stopping play randomly, and how do I stop it?

    - by Chris R
Since yesterday morning my copy of iTunes has been starting and stopping randomly. If iTunes is not running, then it opens and sometimes begins playing, other times sits idle. Eventually, after a random interval it will begin playing a song, and then stop, and so on... Needless to say, it's driving me mad. (Mac OSX, 10.6.3, on a new-ish (< 1 year old) 24" iMac) I've made five changes to my system that may or may not be connected to this: My office phone was replaced with a Linksys IP Phone, which necessitated a change to my networking; where previously my Mac was connected directly to the office network port, now it is connected through the phone. My network connection now uses auto link detection in lieu of forcing 100Mbit I unpaired my bluetooth headset. I removed the USB audio device associated with another headset. I upgraded to Safari 5. I don't use it as a primary browser, but it's often open to run web apps that I'm developing. All of these things happened in pretty close proximity to each other, so one or more of them may be the culprit. One other thing that may or may not be related; for some reason my built-in microphone is no longer picking up audio. It seems like this might be connected to the iTunes issue, because it happened around the same time. In terms of things that I've tried in order to solve this, I'm at a bit of a loss. I followed the instructions at http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/technotes/tn2004/tn2124.html#SECLAUNCHDLOGGING to enable detailed launchd logging to see if I could track down which process was asking iTunes to open (when it's not already open) but I wasn't able to make heads or tails of the output. I'm not even sure if I'm looking in the right place, to be honest; it actually acts like something is activating the application with AppleScript, but I have no processes running that are doing that, as far as I know. I'm running a few apps that have iTunes integration: Adium, iChat with Chax, Quicksilver. None of these have been changed lately, so I consider them low risks of causing this, but it's not impossible. Moreover, I'm not using any of those features intentionally. This is a snippet of launchd debug logging from around the time it just launched: 10-06-09 9:14:29 AM com.apple.launchd[1] Dispatching kevent... 10-06-09 9:14:29 AM com.apple.launchd[1] KEVENT[0]: • uWSGI log file...permission denied to read file

    - by bkev
I have a server running Django/Nginx/uWSGI with uWSGI in emperor mode, and the error log for it (the vassal-level error log, not the emperor-level log) has a continual permissions error every time it spawns a new worker, like so: Tue Jun 26 19:34:55 2012 - Respawned uWSGI worker 2 (new pid: 9334) Error opening file for reading: Permission denied Problem is, I don't know what file it's having trouble opening; it's not the log file, obviously, since I'm looking at it and it's writing to that without issue. Any way to find out? I'm running the apt-get version of uWSGI 1.0.3-debian through Upstart on Ubuntu 12.04. The site is working successfully, aside from what seems like a memory leak...hence my looking at the log file. My Upstart conf file description "uWSGI" start on runlevel [2345] stop on runlevel [06] respawn env UWSGI=/usr/bin/uwsgi env LOGTO=/var/log/uwsgi/emperor.log exec $UWSGI \ --master \ --emperor /etc/uwsgi/vassals \ --die-on-term \ --auto-procname \ --no-orphans \ --logto $LOGTO \ --logdate My Vassal ini file: [uwsgi] # Variables base = /srv/env/mysiteenv # Generic Config uid = uwsgi gid = uwsgi socket = 127.0.0.1:5050 master = true processes = 2 reload-on-as = 128 harakiri = 60 harakiri-verbose = true auto-procname = true plugins = http, python cache = 2000 home = %(base) pythonpath = %(base)/mysite module = wsgi logto = /srv/log/mysite/uwsgi_error.log logdate = true

  • Trying to run an ASP.NET MVC application using Mono on Apache with FastCGI.

    - by Arda Xi
I have a hosting account with DreamHost, and I would like to use the same account to run ASP.NET applications. I have an application deployed in a subdomain, a .htaccess with a handler like this: # Define the FastCGI Mono launcher as an Apache handler and let # it manage this web-application (its files and subdirectories) SetHandler monoWrapper Action monoWrapper /home/arienh4/<domain>/cgi-bin/mono.fcgi virtual My mono.fcgi is set up as such: #!/bin/sh #umask 0077 exec >>/home/arienh4/tmp/mono-fcgi.log exec 2>>/home/arienh4/tmp/mono-fcgi.err echo $(date +"[%F %T]") Starting fastcgi-mono-server2 cd / chmod 0700 /home/arienh4/tmp/mono-fcgi.sock echo $$>/home/arienh4/tmp/mono-fcgi.pid # stdin is the socket handle export PATH="/home/arienh4/mono/bin:$PATH" export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/home/arienh4/mono/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH" export TMP="/home/arienh4/tmp" export MONO_SHARED_DIR="/home/arienh4/tmp" exec /home/arienh4/mono/bin/mono /home/arienh4/mono/lib/mono/2.0/fastcgi-mono-server2.exe \ /logfile=/home/arienh4/logs/fastcgi-mono-web.log /loglevels=All \ /applications=/:/home/arienh4/<domain> I took this from the Mono site for CGI, I'm not sure if I'm doing it correctly though. This code is resulting in this error: Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable configuration error. Use 'LimitInternalRecursion' to increase the limit if necessary. Use 'LogLevel debug' to get a backtrace. I have no idea what's causing this. As far as I can see, Mono isn't even hit (no log files are created).

I am running a java application using this wrapper service yajsw. The problem it just stopped without any error in its logs file. • Windows 2003 print services for unix causing CUPS "lpd_command returning 1"

    - by Stephen P. Schaefer
We have several Windows 2003 servers with print services for Unix on them, and which allow Linux machines running CUPS to use printers defined to CUPS with the URI lpd://printer_server/printer_queue_name - they work. An attempt to provide different printers on a different Windows 2003 server with print services for Unix newly enabled causes CUPS to behave like this: a newly defined printer will be in state "Idle". An attempt to print causes CUPS to change the printer state to "Disabled". In /var/log/cups/error_log, the relevant messages appear to be D [01/Dec/2012:06:14:18 -0800] [Job 16] lpd_command 02 hp775cm_ps D [01/Dec/2012:06:14:18 -0800] [Job 16] Sending command string (16 bytes)... D [01/Dec/2012:06:14:18 -0800] [Job 16] Reading command status... D [01/Dec/2012:06:14:18 -0800] [Job 16] lpd_command returning 1 E [01/Dec/2012:06:14:18 -0800] PID 18786 stopped with status 1! Since my Linux boxes can print to other printers via other Windows 2003 print spoolers, I'm wondering what obscure Windows component could be causing this. I don't think it is Windows firewall, since nmap sees the lpd port (515) open on the server. telnet to the server at port 515 declares Connected to server.internal.example.com (10.22.33.44). Escape character is '^]' Connection closed by foreign host. Windows clients successfully print to the CIFS/SMB share of the hp755cm_ps printer. What other reasons are there for Windows to refuse an lpd request?

I've just installed Ubuntu 11.10 Desktop on an old laptop of mine and I wanted to set it up so I could remote into it from my windows desktop. • Sticky connection and HTTPS support for HAProxy

    - by Saif
Hi Mates, We have 2 HTTP Load balancer with HAproxy and heartbeat. There are 4 apache nodes in this cluster. It's doing round robin load balancing. The HTTP cluster working fine. We are having problem with our portal because it uses SSO. We need sticky connection support in our HAproxy. Also we need load balancing for HTTPS traffic. Here's our HAproxy conf file. global # to have these messages end up in /var/log/haproxy.log you will # need to: # # 1) configure syslog to accept network log events. This is done # by adding the '-r' option to the SYSLOGD_OPTIONS in # /etc/sysconfig/syslog # # 2) configure local2 events to go to the /var/log/haproxy.log # file. • Unable to install PHP-FPM on Apache (Failed to connect to FastCGI server)

    - by Nyxynyx
I have been having problem installing php-fpm for use with apache2-mpm-worker. This is the guide that I am following. According to the guide's Step 5, Alias /php5-fcgi /usr/lib/cgi-bin/php5-fcgi FastCgiExternalServer /usr/lib/cgi-bin/php5-fcgi -host 127.0.0.1:9000 -pass-header Authorization However I cannot find php5-fcgi at /usr/lib, but only /usr/bin/php5-cgi and /usr/bin/php-cgi, which I am not sure if they are the same. So I changed the lines in Step 5 to: Alias /php5-fcgi /usr/bin/php5-fcgi FastCgiExternalServer /usr/bin/php5-fcgi -host 127.0.0.1:9000 -pass-header On restarting Apache, it's logs gave the errors: [notice] caught SIGTERM, shutting down [alert] (4)Interrupted system call: FastCGI: read() from pipe failed (0) [alert] (4)Interrupted system call: FastCGI: the PM is shutting down, Apache seems to have disappeared - bye [notice] Apache/2.2.22 (Ubuntu) mod_fastcgi/mod_fastcgi-SNAP-0910052141 configured -- resuming normal operations [notice] FastCGI: process manager initialized (pid 16348) And on loading the index page [error] [client 10.0.2.2] (111)Connection refused: FastCGI: failed to connect to server "/usr/bin/php5-cgi": connect() failed [error] [client 10.0.2.2] FastCGI: incomplete headers (0 bytes) received from server "/usr/bin/php5-cgi" [error] [client 10.0.2.2] File does not exist: /var/www/mydomain/public/favicon.ico Question: Any idea why php5-fcgi is missing, and how should this problem be fixed? Thank you!! :)

  • Error 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query when executing CHECK TABLE FOR UPGRADE

    - by Dean Richardson
I just upgraded Ubuntu from 11.10 to 12.04. My rails app now returns the (passenger) error "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (111) (Mysql2::Error)". I get a similar error when I try to access mysql at the command line on my Ubuntu server using mysql -u root -p. I have mysql-server 5.5 installed. I've checked and mysql is not running. When I try to restart it, it fails. Here are some key lines from the tail of /var/log/syslog after an attempted restart: dean@dgwjasonfried:/etc/mysql$ tail -f /var/log/syslog Mar 7 08:55:27 dgwjasonfried /etc/mysql/debian-start[5107]: Looking for 'mysqlcheck' as: /usr/bin/mysqlcheck Mar 7 08:55:27 dgwjasonfried /etc/mysql/debian-start[5107]: Running 'mysqlcheck' with connection arguments: '--port=3306' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' '--host=localhost' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' '--host=localhost' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' Mar 7 08:55:27 dgwjasonfried /etc/mysql/debian-start[5107]: Running 'mysqlcheck' with connection arguments: '--port=3306' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' '--host=localhost' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' '--host=localhost' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' Mar 7 08:55:27 dgwjasonfried /etc/mysql/debian-start[5107]: /usr/bin/mysqlcheck: Got error: 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query when executing 'CHECK TABLE ... I reviewed the related questions here and attempted some of the fixes offered but to no avail. Thanks! Dean Richardson Update: Thanks to quanta's suggestion, I looked at the /var/log/mysql/error.log file. I found error messages relating to pointers, fatal signals, and more stuff that I really couldn't make much sense of. I also found mysql man page references, however. One suggested that I try starting mysqld with the --innodb_force_recovery=# option, then attempt to dump (or drop) the offending/corrupted database or table. I worked through the escalating option levels one-by-one (innodb_force_recovery=1, innodb_force_recovery=2, etc.) This allowed me to successfully run mysql -u root -p from the command line and execute several commands. I was able to run queries on my production database, but any attempt to query, dump, or even drop my development database raised an error and led to me losing the connection to mysql. So I've made progress, but until I'm somehow able to drop or repair my development db I'm still unable to get my app to load. Any further advice or suggestions? Thanks! Dean Update: Right after running sudo mysqld --innodb_force_recover=1 from the command line, the error.log contains this: Right after retrying sudo mysqld --innodb_force_recover=1, The error.log file shows this: 130308 4:55:39 [Note] Plugin 'FEDERATED' is disabled. 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: The InnoDB memory heap is disabled 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: Mutexes and rw_locks use GCC atomic builtins 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: Compressed tables use zlib 1.2.3.4 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: Initializing buffer pool, size = 128.0M 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: Completed initialization of buffer pool 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: highest supported file format is Barracuda. • Squid external_acl_type Cannot run process

I want to restrict uploading for group of the users via squid. So I've choosen to use external_acl_type but after reload of the squid it returns error. • ldap_modify: Insufficient access (50)

    - by Lynn Owens
I am running an OpenLDAP 2.4 server that uses the SSL service for communication. It works for lookups. I am trying to add mirror mode replication. So this is the command that I'm executing: ldapmodify -D "cn=myuser,dc=mydomain,dc=com" -H ldaps://myloadbalancer -W -f /etc/ldap/ldif/server_id.ldif Where this is my server_id.ldif: dn: cn=config changetype: modify replace: olcServerID olcServerID: 1 myserver1 olcServerID: 2 myserver2 and this is my cn\=config.ldif in the slapd.d tree of text files: dn: cn=config objectClass: olcGlobal cn: config olcArgsFile: /var/run/slapd/slapd.args olcPidFile: /var/run/slapd/slapd.pid olcToolThreads: 1 structuralObjectClass: olcGlobal entryUUID: ff9689de-c61d-1031-880b-c3eb45d66183 creatorsName: cn=config createTimestamp: 20121118224947Z olcLogLevel: stats olcTLSCertificateFile: /etc/ldap/certs/ldapscert.pem olcTLSCertificateKeyFile: /etc/ldap/certs/ldapskey.pem olcTLSCACertificateFile: /etc/ldap/certs/ldapscert.pem olcTLSVerifyClient: never entryCSN: 20121119022009.770692Z#000000#000#000000 modifiersName: gidNumber=0+uidNumber=0,cn=peercred,cn=external,cn=auth modifyTimestamp: 20121119022009Z But unfortunately I'm getting this: Enter LDAP Password: modifying entry "cn=config" ldap_modify: Insufficient access (50) If I try to specify the config database I get this: ldapmodify -H 'ldaps://myloadbalancer/cn=config' -D "cn=myuser,cn=config" -W -f ./server_id.ldif Enter LDAP Password: ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49)} Does anyone know how I can add the serverID to the config database so that I can complete the setup of mirror mode?
