• Ajax: Load XML from different domain?

  I have signed up(paid) for Google site search. They have me a url of a sort of web service where I can send a query to it, it searches my site, and it returns XML of the search results. Well I am trying to load this XML via Ajax from a page on my site but I cannot. I can load from any of my pages on my domain so I am assuming it is because of the XML being on Google's domain. So there has got to be a way to load it though, I don't think they would have given me the URL if I couldn't do anything with it lol. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks! • Combining JSON Arrays

  I have 3 json arrays, each with information listed in the same format: Array: ID: NAME: DATA: ID: NAME: DATA: etc... My goal is to combine all 3 arrays into one array, and sort and display by NAME by passing the 3 arrays into a function. The function I've tried is: JSCRIPT Call: // to save time I'm just passing the name of the array, I've tried passing // the full array name as json[0]['DATA'][array_1][0]['NAME'] as well. combineNames(['array_1','array_2']); FUNCTION: function combineNames(names) { var allNames = [] for (i=0;i<names.length;i++) { for (j=0;j<json[0]['DATA'][names[i]].length;j++) { allNames.push(json[0]['DATA'][names[i]][j]['NAME']); } } return allNames.sort(); } The above gives me the error that NAME is null or undefined. I've also tried using the array.concat function which works when I hard code it: var names = []; var allNames = []; var names = names.concat(json[0]['DATA']['array_1'],json[0]['DATA']['array_2']); for (i=0;i<names.length;i++) { allNames.push(names[i]['NAME']); } return allNames.sort(); But I can't figure out how to pass in the arrays into the function (and if possible I would like to just pass in the array name part instead of the whole json[0]['DATA']['array_name'] like I was trying to do in the first function...

The current_window and the current_marker inside the function is overide at each loop turn. How can I get it right ? Thanks

• How to make quicksilver remember custom trigger

  I am trying to make a custom trigger for my shell/apple script file to run so I can just launch my dev environment at the push of a button. So basically: I have a shell script(and some apple script included) in ~ named start_server.sh which does 3 things: start up solr server start up memcached start up script/server I have a saved quicksilver command(.qs) that opens up start_server.sh(so start_server.sh, then the action is "Run in Terminal") I created a custom trigger that calls this saved qs command. I did that then tested it and it works. I then tried to double check it so I quit quicksilver and when I checked the triggers it just said: "Open (null)" as the action. I set the trigger again and when i restarted QS the same thing happened again. I don't know why but my old custom trigger to open terminal has worked since forever so why doesn't this one work?   JS_CallFunctionName can call a method of an object by name: JSObject* obj; JS_CallFunctionName(cx, obj, "doSomething", argc, vp, retVal); The code above works fine if the "doSomething" is a function declared in the prototype of the "obj". What I want to know is if there is a way to call a function that is a "class function". I tried: if(JS_HasProperty(getGlobalContext(), getGlobalObject(), "ClassToGet", &b)) { print("OK"); } and the output is "OK". But when tried: JS_GetProperty(getGlobalContext(), getGlobalObject(), "ClassToGet", &jsOwner); if (jsOwner != JSVAL_VOID) { } the jsOwner is a JSVAL_VOID. Maybe there is a function in SpiderMonkey can execute function in a JSClass ? Any suggestion will be appreciated, thanks :)

I'm a confused that why this program is loaded from the address 0B3D:0000? Is this because the existence of the Program Segment Prefix(PSP)? If the answer is the existence of the PSP, what is in the PSP?

• JavaScript: Very strange behavior with assigning methods in a loop

It doesn't happen, I get "2" when clicking on either. After spending an hour meditating on the code, I decided that it probably happens because dynamic onclick methods for both anchors keep the last value of "i". So I change that loop to for (var i in buttons) { var local_i = i.toString() actions[buttons[i]] = function() { alert(local_i) } } hoping that each dynamic function will get its own copy of "i" with immediate value. But after this change I get "1" popping up when I click on either link. What am I doing wrong? It's a huge show stopper for me.

• PHP: creating a smooth edged circle, image or font?

  I'm making a PHP image script that will create circles at a given radius. I used: <?php imagefilledellipse ( $image, $cx, $cy, $w, $h, $color ); ?> but hate the rough edges it produces. So I was thinking of making or using a circle font that I will output using: <?php imagettftext ( $image, $size, $angle, $x, $y, $color, 'fontfile.ttf', $text ); ?> So that the font will produce a circle that has a smooth edge. My problem is making the "font size" match the "radius size". Any ideas? Or maybe a PHP class that will produce a smooth edge on a circle would be great! Thank you.

• Flex Tree with infinite parents and children

  I am working on a tree component and I am having a bit of the issue with populating the data-provider for this tree. The data that I get back from my database is a simple array of value objects. Each value object has 2 properties. ObjectID and ParentID. For parents the ParentID is null and for children the ParentID is the ObjectID of the parent. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. • Chrome extension javascript array bug?

  Hi, I'm working on a Google Chrome extension. In the popup I have the following code: var bookmarks = []; function appendBMTnode(node){ bookmarks.push([node[0].title, node[0].id]); } function addchildren(results){ for(x = 0; x < results.length; x++){ bookmarks.push([results[x].title, results[x].id]); chrome.bookmarks.getChildren(results[x].id, addchildren); } } function getallbookmarks(){ chrome.bookmarks.get('0', appendBMTnode); chrome.bookmarks.getChildren('0', addchildren); } console.debug(bookmarks.length); console.debug(bookmarks); Now, I would assume that the first command would issue the # of bookmarks I have. Indeed, when I use Chrome's debugger and add bookmarks.length to the watch list, 418 is the value. In the console of the debugger I can write bookmarks.length and it will give me the correct length. I can type for(x = 0; x < bookmarks.length; x++){ console.debug(bookmarks[x]); } and I get string representations of each inner array. However, that original console.debug(bookmarks.length) gives an output of zero. And if I add console.debug(bookmarks[0]); to the popup.html it tells me that the value is undefined. This seems like a bug to me, but my real question is how can I iterate over this list? Thanks

• Fixing merge conflicts?

  I have two remote branches, "grape" and "master". I'm currently on "grape". Now I switch to "master": git checkout master Now I want to pull all changes from "grape" into "master" - is this the way to do it?: git merge origin grape It's my understanding that git will then pull all the current state of the remote branch "grape" into my local copy of "master". It will try to auto-merge for me. If there are conflicts, the files in conflict will have some conflict text actually injected into the file. I then have to go into those files, and delete the chunk I don't want (essentially telling git how to merge these files). For each file in conflict, do I add and commit the changes again?: git add problemfile1.txt git commit -m "Fixed merge conflict." git add problemfile2.txt git commit -m "Fixed another merge conflict." ... after I've fixed all the merge conflicts like above, do I just push to "master" again to finish up the process?: git push origin master or is there something else we need to do when we get into this conflict state? • Navigation Controller not Pushing/Popping View Controllers

  I'm working on a view-based iPhone app that has the following flow: search - (list | map) - details To accomplish the transitions between views, I have a UINavigationController, with the search view controller being the root. After a user performs a search, I transition to a view with a segmented control, which acts as a tab to switch between the list and map functionality (per a suggestion from a related question I had). This view contains a UIViewController, which allows me to switch between the list/map view when a user taps the segmented control. I'm fine up until this point. As you can see from the above mentioned flow, I would like to provide the ability to transition into a details view. Each row of my table in the list view contains a details disclosure button for allowing the user to drill down into a details view. The problem is, when I try to push the details view onto the navigation stack, nothing happens. Below is the delegate method (from my list view controller) to handle the details disclosure button being tapped. I've set up break points, so I know the code is running. The navigation controller simply doesn't want to push the detailsController onto the stack (my guess is that I don't have a pointer to the correct UINavigationController). - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView accessoryButtonTappedForRowWithIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { if (detailController == nil) { detailController = [[DetailsViewController alloc] init]; } [self.navigationController pushViewController:detailController animated:YES]; } Assuming I was probably missing a pointer to the navigation controller, I exposed a UINavigation property on my list and map views (navigationController is readonly) and initialized them with a pointer to the navigation controller from my SwitchViewController (the view responsible for switching between list/map views when a user changes the value of the segmented control). Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem. Am I on the right track? If so, how do I see to it that my view has a pointer to the correct navigation controller? Should I add a delegate, which allows me to call a function in the SwitchViewController that transitions into the details view (this seems messy)?

I don't really understand how lucene index documents and don't understand lucene work with which algorithm for indexing ?   I'm not sure how many people here are experts with visual studios, but I'd imagine a handful (not to raise expectations but to appeal to your egos :P). I'm working primarily in visual basic for now (though I hope to switch to c# in the near future and maybe a java or web app). Basically I'm trying to create an update feature that will work similarly to how common programs such as firefox or itunes update automatically. There is supposed to be provided functionality for this in what is called click once. I carry out the following procedures and get the following errors when trying to change the update url of my program to a password-protected ftp location. Go to project properties Go to publish click updates click browse click FTP Site Under Server put: web###.opentransfer.com Under Port: 21 Under Directory put: CMSOFT Passive mode is selected (which is what filezilla tells me the server is accessed with) Anonymous User is unselected and a username and password are typed in Push Ok Under Update location it shows: ftp://web###.opentransfer.com/CMSOFT I push Ok I see a message box titled Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 Express with an x icon Publish.UpdateUrl: The string must be a fully qualified URL or UNC path, for example "http://www.microsoft.com/myapplication" or "\server\myapplication". I've tried changing the directory to "CMSOFT/PQCM.exe" and the results are the same...hope this was descriptive enough.

  I have a JavaScript file which is loaded up at the end of my HTML page. Rather than adding the script code for asynchronous tracking for Google in yet another script I would rather combine the two scripts together. • CSS 100 percent height body and element

  I am having an issue making one of my elements 100% within an overall layout that is 100%. I have tried different positioning solutions and I either end up with hidden content the floats behind the footer at the bottom, or the content ends up going behind the footer, and carrys on after the footer. • Holding variables in memory, C++

  Today something strange came to my mind. When I want to hold some string in C (C++) the old way, without using string header, I just create array and store that string into it. But, I read that any variable definition in C in local scope of function ends up in pushing these values onto the stack. So, the string is actually 2* bigger than needed. Because first, the push instructions are located in memory, but then when they are executed (pushed onto the stack) another "copy" of the string is created. First the push instructions, than the stack space is used for one string. So, why is it this way? Why doesn't compiler just add the string (or other variables) to the program instead of creating them once again when executed? Yes, I know you cannot just have some data inside program block, but it could just be attached to the end of the program, with some jump instruction before. And than, we would just point to these data? Because they are stored in RAM when the program is executed. Thanks.

• Sharing code between two or more rails apps... alternatives to git submodules?

  We have two separate rails_app, foo/ and bar/ (separate for good reason). They both depend on some models, etc. in a common/ folder, currently parallel to foo and bar. Our current svn setup uses svn:externals to share common/. This weekend we wanted to try out git. After much research, it appears that the "kosher" way to solve this is using git submodule. We got that working after separating foo,bar,common into separate repositories, but then realized all the strings attached: Always commit the submodule before committing the parent. Always push the submodule before pushing the parent. Make sure that the submodule's HEAD points to a branch before committing to it. (If you're a bash user, I recommend using git-completion to put the current branch name in your prompt.) Always run 'git submodule update' after switching branches or pulling changes. All these gotchas complicate things further than add,commit,push. We're looking for simpler ways to share common in git. This guy seems to have success using the git subtree extension, but that deviates from standard gitand still doesn't look that simple. Is this the best we can do given our project structure? I don't know enough about rails plugins/engines, but that seems like a possible RoR-ish way to share libraries. Thanks in advance.
