• Compiling LaTeX document makes Google Drive crash

  I've the issue that when I compile a LaTeX document that is located inside my Google Drive this will after a few turns make the OSX Google Drive application crash. As this is an important document I want to keep it all the time inside the Google Drive location to ensure cloud backup but this ofcourse is not guaranteed if this makes my Google Drive crash all the time. I don't seem te be able to identify what is causing this and I was hoping that maybe some people here have any idea what might cause this? We're talking about a 8 pages document with 3 images, so nothing crazy big or complex.

• Google Talk and Video outside of GMail

  I'd like to use Google Talk/Video with having the full gmail or igoogle interface displayed. The ideal setup would be the lightweight popout interface (link below) in a small Fluid.app single instance browser as a stand-alone desktop app. If I log into GMail, the chat sidebar has a phone icon so I can use Google Voice, and a camera icon next to me and some of my contacts. If I log into iGoogle, the chat sidebar has a camera next to me and some contacts, but no phone. I would like to have video chat (and perhaps the phone option) elsewhere. Google provides a chat talkgadget popout URL: http://talkgadget.google.com/talkgadget/popout but there is no phone or camera icon accessible.

  I am trying to get google-chrome to work on Ubuntu 7.10. I installed it with --force-depends and got it to install, but now when I try to run it, I get this error: /usr/bin/google-chrome: error while loading shared libraries: libnss3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Is there a way to still get google-chrome to load even without this dependency satisfied? This is an old system that needs to keep this old 7.10 Ubuntu version and I would like to have google-chrome if possible installed, even if it means no sound or other features that are not compatible.

• Windows 7 Index Search does not work in Google Drive folder

  I recently installed Google Drive on my Windows 7 laptop and began syncing all my files a few days ago. All was well until I needed to search for some documents in my local copy of Google Drive using Windows 7 Search feature. Windows did not return any results at all. Weirdly, when I turned off Windows indexing for that folder, it began returning results. I don't mind using windows search w/o the index but sometimes it takes too long to search (especially for keywords inside documents like Word and Excel). It's driving me nuts to the point where I have given up on Windows Search and switched to Google Drive's online search to look for files (not as convenient as I still have to go back go google drive in Windows to locate the folder). Any help appreciated!

• Prevent chrome from auto-hiding bookmark bar on google search

  I am using Chrome 28.0.1500.20 beta on OSX 10.7. In this version, when you perform a google search using the address bar the bookmarks bar disappears. Toggling "always show bookmarks bar" does not restore the bookmark (see screenshot below). I want to always show the bookmark bar. In particular, I often use a bookmarklet that converts a current google search into a Google Scholar search. Is there a way to always show the bookmark bar even when performing a Google search in Chrome?

• VPS to replace MobileMe or Google Apps.

  All, Yes, this has been touched on in other questions, but I can't find something similar enough. I currently have Google Apps hosting personal email, calendars, contacts, etc. I do like the other google services, but they're outside of Apps. One of the little google irritations that I have to maintain a separate account for Picassa, etc. So, I'm thinking about moving myself away from Google, but purely for personal, privacy type issues. Do I really like the ads, the email snooping, etc? I've had, and liked MobileMe, back when it was iTools, and then .Mac, but it doesn't offer that much really. How easily can I replicate it all on a VPS? I don't want to host it myself at home, I'd lose all the wonderful datacenter goodness. THis isn't about personal geekery in my own basement, just about taking a little control back from Google. So, email is fine running an IMAP server, a nice front-end, etc. What about Calendars and Contacts? And, how easily can it be setup to sync to the desktop and iPhone? Thanks.

  It seems that Google Chrome doesn't keep my "allow all cookies" settings (dev 5.0.322.2) anymore. Google's sites keep on showing: Your browser's cookie functionality is turned off. Please turn it on. [?] but every I perform the prescribed steps, Chrome doesn't keep the configuration! update: I've deleted ~/.config/google-chrome/Default/Preferences and restarted with a clean state. Now it seems to work.

• KeePass does not offer `Open with Google Chrome`

  I'm using KeePass and Google Chrome (not plug-ins) for quite some time. I have reinstalled my operating system (Windows 7) and both KeePass and Google Chrome and since then, when I right-click an entry and chose URL I don't have the Open with Google Chrome option - only internet explorer is available. Seems like KeePass did not recognize Chrome - any idea how to fix it? I re-installed KeePass but did not reinstall Chrome yet.

  Am running a MacBook Pro, and have never installed Chrome, Google Earth, or anything blatantly Google. Just installed Little Snitch (are there no good free firewalls for Mac?) and see that CURL is sending to Google every few minutes, as is a request to Google update and more. Little Snitch doesn't say what program setup these requests. So, how do I find out how G got on my machine, why is it sending so many requests (every minute or so) and how do I remove it (and is it there for reasons other than to help G spy on me)?

• Google Drive terminates without error on startup

  I've used Google Drive for awhile now, but it won't start up after installing on my latest system re-build. I'm still using the same OS, hardware, and basic software load (antivirus, firewall, etc.) that I have for years during which I had not previously had problems with Drive. OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Google Drive Version: 1.12.5329.1887 Now, whenever I try to run Google Drive, it just spawns two instances of the executable which die shortly after. No error messages are posted to the desktop, and nothing indicating any problem is written to the Event Log. After some research, I've yet to find anyone having the same problem who's found an answer. I did find out how to run Google Drive in diagnostic mode, using the --vv parameter at the command line.   I dont use google maps much, but I was using it today and I clicked the "Show my location" button for the first time, then firefox asked for permission and I clicked "share my location", google maps showed my location pretty accurate. But, how does this system really works? I mean how can google know where I live? I am connecting to the internet with a VPN, so my "public IP" is not from my country, but from sweden, also I use linux and I change the mac of my wireless device, but google still show my location. I know I can disable this feature setting firefox about:config geo.enabled to false, but I am curious about how google can know where I live even when I dont have a real mac address and my IP is not from my real country. Basically I'd like to know if this feature works only because of code that exists in chrome and firefox (which spies my system)? I am worried about anyone knowing where I live, I mean... where is my privacy? Part of the fun about the internet is remaining anonymous.

  Google Chrome randomly stopped working one day and is giving me this error: Google Chrome is having trouble accessing the network. This may be because your firewall or antivirus software wrongly thinks that Google Chrome is an intruder on your computer and is blocking it from connecting to the Internet. Here are some suggestions: Add Google Chrome as a permitted programme in your firewall or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted programme, try deleting it from the list of permitted programmes and adding it again. Error 138 (net::ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED): Unable to access the network. I didn't make any changes to my firewall settings between the time it was working and when it wasn't working. I'm using the default Windows Firewall. I added Chrome to the allowed programs and restarted, but that didn't fix the error. I even reinstalled Chrome completely and that didn't work either. Any help would be appreciated. EDIT: I forgot to mention that Firefox and IE9 work fine.

  Whenever I use Google Chrome's "Create Application" shortcut (which I heavily use, and recommend), the icons shown on the Windows 7 taskbar are really blurry, probably the result of the 16x16 favicon being stretched out. I'd like to be able to replace these with another, high-quality icon, but even when I replace the cached file, it doesn't update for some reason. I want to create a new group called restricted which allows its users to use Audio devices and Video devices only, and I want to add a user called visitors to that group. By using Users and Groups, I was able to create a new user account called visitors, and a new group called restricted. But I can't figure out how to add those settings to the group restricted, and add the visitors user account to that group.
