I have added a class in both applications. Now I want to access a method of web application class into silverlight application class. Is it possible? I have tried to add web application reference to silverlight but VS is not allowing. Is there any another way to do??

  • Referencing Environment Variables in web.xml

    I'm pre-packaging a JSP web-app that relies on some file path settings found within web.xml. These settings are unknown at packaging time, because they reference a path the customer will set when deploying the entire application (of which the web-app is a management interface). It seems that the easiest way to avoid tokens and file modifications in my installer script, is to ask the user for an install location, set this location as an environment variable (e.g JAVA_HOME), and have web.xml always reference that variable. Is there a way to reference an environment variable value from within web.xml? Google searches lead to the J2EE method of SETTING environment variables from ejb xml files. This is not what I'm looking for. Thanks Udi

    Hi. I've setup a project in Netbeans 6.5 with some web services that I've created myself and some web services that I've imported from WSDL files. I've setup a couple of desktop application through Netbeans in order to consume these web services. I'm not too sure where to go from here. I have the GUI setup but not sure how to reference the web services so they can be consumed. I was wondering would anybody be able to guide me through this process or point me in the direction of a relevant tutorial. I'd also like to learn how to consume a web service through a JSP (also created in Netbeans) if possible. Thanks.

    Hi all, I am making my first web application with ASP.NET and I am having a rough time. I have previously created the application I am working on as a Windows Form application and it works great, but I am having problems with the HTML side of things in the web application. My issues are pretty minor, but very annoying. I have worked with websites before and CSS, but as far as I can tell I do not have direct access to a CSS when creating a web application in VS 2008. My biggest issue is the positioning of components that I have dragged onto the "Default.aspx" form. For instance, how am I supposed to float a panel next to another one if I don't have a CSS, or how am I to correctly position a label?

    Hi, We are utilizing citrix netscalar with more than 20 glassfish java application servers. Unfortunately we have to remove previous application before deploying a new version of it since we have same context for these two different application. This error-prone process leads some problems due to lack of attention in builds or other problems. In an urgent case, we simply want to redirect to all traffic to previous application. What is the best practice to run different version of an application in a substantial number of servers in same time? Thanks

    I have a feature in my web app like I have to send mails from the server to many email ids (some kind of notification stuff) my web application is implemented in struts2. Possibly I have to use javamail api i guess. I am completely new to this javamail and sending mail from server. what basic steps I need to do to setup a mail server in windows, contact the server from my java web app. What api i should I use ? The web has very limited tutorials on javamail and they are damn complicated too. Is there any other api other than javamail by which I can send mail from my java struts2 web app. thanks

  • How to cancel a web service call if it's not responding

    Hi, I have a web page (.aspx) that calls a third party web service to get some data. It usually takes couple of seconds to get the response back, and then the rest of the page will load. Occasionally the call gets stuck either due to the web service is down, or internet connection, etc., the page just hang there and will not load. My questions is: 1) Is there a way to abort/cancel the web service call after a set amount of time? 2) Is it even possible to verify the status of the web service before calling it? Thanks.

  • Secure web service works in Firefox but not in IE7

    I am trying to call a C# web service from one data center to another. I am able to load the web service properly in Firefox 3.6.3 but it does not load at all in Internet Explorer 7. When I try to install the application which relies on this web service, it can't find the web service at all, just like IE7. Is there any setting or configuration that would allow one browser to load it properly but not the other? I suspect that there's no firewall or that sort of problem because the web service loads for at least one browser.

    I'm sure there's an elegant solution to the problem but I just can't get my head around it. I am trying to call a web service from within a Windows service. The web service is secured (using Windows authentication). The account that the windows service runs under does have the rights to call the web service but I can't figure out how to get those credentials and send them off to the web service. The web service is WCF and is hosted on the same machine (in IIS) as the windows service.

  • Write permission for a specific folder in web.config

    My question is preaty simple. Is there any way to give current user (IIS User, in this case, ASP NET USER) permission to write to a specific folder location (folder inside our web application) using web.config? Because, it's getting boring to ask to the web hoster to gain access to a specific folder each time we want to do a file uploader on a website. I know it's maybe preaty simple to find an answer using google, but it keeps returning me how to write INTO web.config instead of permission to write into web.config FOR a specific folder. In addition, I'm french so my english is not at the top.

    I have a web application , that helps download reports. But the report generation sometimes takes a lot of time, and the web request times out through the intermediate proxy server.(Timeout :90 secs). The workflow for downloading the report is straightforward. Client sends request to the web server. The web server generates the report , and makes it available to the client as an excel download. The excel is generated using POI and the download is provided using Spring's AbstractExcelView. What could be the best way to keep the web request alive(without increasing the timeout , of course) ?

    I'm creating a prototype for a java web application. Frontend is a Swing-based java applet. Backend should be a type of web-service, that is called by applet. Backend should run inside a servlet container and should have its own security (username/password) database. I know, that Tomcat has its own user database (realm), but the app should have own. Web-services, in turn, carrying out app logic and database access (via Hibernate). I'm a newbie for a web development and I'm getting lost in a huge amount of the java web frameworks. Even just reading 'introduction' and 'getting started' documents takes a lot of time. So I need an advice which framework(s) are suitable for the task and not very complex for a quick start.   • Previewing php pages inside Expression Web 3 suddently stopped working

    On a Windows 7 development machine, I have expression web 3, PHP 5 installed I have been using expression web and PHP for a while, and previewing php pages etc on pressing F12 (preview using local server). Suddenly on F12 all PHP pages display as blank, even a phpinfo() file. Standard html pages continue to work correctly on F12. If I place the same page php inside the default website on inetpub and browse using localhost then the phpinfo() file works. So I know that php is installed and configured correctly for IIS. Things I've checked: Gone into site settings in Expression web and confirmed that php is selected and it is pointing to the php executable Reinstalled php Checked iis that the php extension is registered. Copied files to a different machine with expression web and php installed and it works on. The strange thing is that it gives a blank (no errors) page inside expression web, but does work inside inetpub This was working up until recently, then suddenly stopped for no reason.

  • How to connect android application running on a device to a local web application?

    I have my droid device connected through USB and using Eclipse for debugging my application running on the device. Everything is fine, except my application needs to connect to a web application running on the same host computer (Windows XP, IE). The web address on the IE was "http://local:4566/MyApp/". I tried to set my android app to "http://10.0.2.2:4566/MyApp", but no luck. The android app's connection simply times out. The document under http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/emulator.html says that the ip address may be different for devices (see Network Address Space section) but no further details on how to find that. Question is, how to I connect to a local web application running on my host computer (windows xp) from an Android application connected through USB running debug under Eclipse?     I have an application that is written with the NetBeans Platform 5.5. I'm having trouble consuming a web service. If I create a Java SE application in NetBeans, I can add a web service reference without problem. Since my application is using the NetBeans Platform, many of the menu choices change. So, I cannot figure out how to add a reference to the web service. I've googled this topic a number of ways but haven't found any pages that deal with consuming a service through the platform. They all talk about consuming a service with a Java SE application. Changing the application from the Platform architecture is not an option.

Inspired by DOS on Dope, I want to make my own framework for Web Service development based on MFC serialization. However, my only experience in Web Service development consists in having written a toy ASP.NET Web Service. All I had to do to expose a method was... [WebMethod] public ReturnType ExposedMethod(InputType1 param1, InputType2 param2) { //... } ... and ASP.NET took care of the rest for me. Obviously, I will have to do everything by hand in my own framework. Thus, I would like to delve a bit more into the little details of how ordinary SOAP Web Services work, in order to replicate them. So I have mainly two questions: Where can I find the details on how SOAP Web Services work, and what ASP.NET hides from me? What are the main challenges I am going to find in my completely lunatic project?

    I need to build a cross platform mobile app (iphone, android, etc). The app is for a company like a cellular operator (Tmobile, ATT). The app needs to do the following: Show previous bills (cached so that it does not have to download everytime) Need an internet connection to download newer bills, view recent data, etc. Can I build a mobile web app to handle this? I understand that there is offline storage and iPhone has good support for web apps (full screen, good icons, offline, etc). Will a web app be the best approach to take as the app requires to be online? The app will not be used by lots of people, just customers of the website who don't want to use an existing website. We are all web developers and a mobile web app looks like the best way to approach this.
