• apache fails to connect to tomcat (Worker config?)

  I have a tomcat 6 with follwoing server.xml: <Connector port="8253" maxThreads="150" minSpareThreads="25" maxSpareThreads="75" enableLookups="false" redirectPort="8445" acceptCount="100" debug="0" connectionTimeout="20000" disableUploadTimeout="true" /> <Connector port="8014" protocol="AJP/1.3" redirectPort="8445" /> and in added worker.properties: # Set properties for worker4 (ajp13) worker.worker4.type=ajp13 worker.worker4.host=localhost worker.worker4.port=8014 and i put in httpd.conf: JkMount /myWebApp/* worker4 It is not working a as trying to navigate to www1.myCompany.com/myWebApp gives "Service Temporarily Unavailable".   i am trying to do a basic column chart. i have looked the examples but not sure why i do not see any graph (lines). • Nhibernate: distinct results in second level Collection

  I have an object model like this: class EntityA { ... IList<EntityB> BList; ... } class EntityB { ... IList<EntityC> CList; } I have to fetch all the colelctions (Blist in EntityA and CList in EntityB), because if they all will be needed to make some operations, if i don't eager load them i will have the select n+1 problem. So the query was this: select a from EntityA a left join fetch a.BList b left join fetch b.CList c The fist problem i faced with this query, was the return of duplicates from the DB, i had EntityA duplicates, because of the left join fetch with BList. A quick read through the hibernate documentation and there were some solutions, first i tried the distinct keyword that supposelly wouldn't replicate the SQL distinct keyword except in some cases, maybe this was one of those cases because i had a SQL error saying that i cannot select distict text columns (column [Observations] in EntityA table). So i used one of the other solutions: query.SetResultTransformer(new DistinctRootEntityResultTransformer()); This worked fine. But the result of the operations were still not passing the tests. I checked further and i found out that now there were duplicates of EntityB, because of the left join fetch with CList. The question is, how can i use the distinct in a second level collection? I searched and i only find solutions for the root entity's direct child collection, but never for the second level child collections... Thank you for your time

  Hi, I have a setup with a .NET WCF Service hosted on IIS. The client apps are connecting to the service through a set of ISA proxy's. I don't know how many and don't know about their configuration etc. In the client apps I open a client to the service and make several calls via the same client. It works great in my office, but when I deploy at the customer (using the ISAs), after some calls, the connection breaks. In a successfull case, the client will maximum live a few seconds, but is that too much? I think there might be several proxyes. Maybe it's using load ballancing. pseudo code is something like this: WcfClient myClient = new WcfClient(); foreach (WorkItem Item in WorkItemsStack) myClient.ProcessItem(Item); myClient.Close(); I am thinking whether I have to do something like this foreach (WorkItem Item in WorkItemsStack) { WcfClient myClient = new WcfClient(); myClient.ProcessItem(Item); myClient.Close(); } Any one with experience with this field?   I need to connect to a MongoDB instance from my EJB3 application, running on glassfish 3.0.1. The Mongo project provides a set of drivers, and I'm able to use them in a standalone Java application. How would I use them in a JEE application? Or maybe better phrasing: how would I make a 3rd party library available to my application when it runs in an EJB container? MRC file format stores volumetric pixel data (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voxel) and we simply use 3D char array(char***) to load and store data (gray scale values) from a MRC file. As shown in the image,there are 3 viewers to display XY,YZ and ZX planes respectively. Scrollbars on the top of the viewers use to change the image slice along an axis. Here is the steps we do when user changes the scrollbar position. 1) get the new scrollbar value.(this is the selected slice) 2) for the relavant plane (YZ,XY or ZX), generate (char* slice;) array for the selected slice by reading 3D char array (char***) 3) Create a new QImage* (Format_RGB888) and set pixel values by reading 'slice' (using img-setPixel(x,y,c);) 4) This new QImage* is painted in the paintEvent() method. We are going to execute "edge-detection" process in a seperate thread since it is an intensive process.During this process we need to draw detected curve (set of pixels) on top of above QImage*.(as a layer).This means we need to call drawPoint() methods outside the QT thread. Is it the best wayto use QImage for this case? What is the best way to execute QT drawing methods from another thread? thanks in advance,

  Hello, total ruby newbie, trying to setup a Rails/MongoDB application on Mac OS X Snow leopard. Installed Ruby 1.9.1 and RubyGems 1.3.7, which ruby and which gem point to the same directory. I'm using the Snow Leopard built-in apache and Passenger 2.2.11. I'm using the rails template from the mongo-site which seems to work okay overall.   Hello Stackoverflow I have a code design question that have been torbeling me for a while, you see I’m doing a refactoring of my website Cosplay Denmark, a site where cospalyers can upload images of them self in their costumes. The original site was done in php, Zend MVC, but my refactoring is being done in ASP.NET MVC 2. If you take the site http://www.cosplaydanmark.dk/Costumes/ (You can switch to English in the left column (Sprog)) Here you see a list of all the anime’s we have on the site with images, we show the name, how many different characters and how many images there are under this anime. http://www.cosplaydanmark.dk/Costumes/Bleach If you click on an anime will you get a list of characters within the given anime which we have images in, here do we show the character name, how many galleries and how many images. http://www.cosplaydanmark.dk/Costumes/Bleach/Ichigo_Kurosaki/ If you click on the character name, will you get a list of the galleries under the given character in the given anime. Here we have some information about the gallery, such as image count. http://www.cosplaydanmark.dk/Costumes/Bleach/Ichigo_Kurosaki/Admi/ Should you click the gallery do you get a list of the images in the gallery. My database look like this at the moment. As you can might imagine there are a lot of different query’s to create the site, on the first site I need to do a select on the on the “animes” table and for each result, I need to do a count select on characters and galleries. My plan to create this will be one of the following Where the IList, would be a lazy load list. But I can’t decide what would be the best solution for this would be, also if there is a better way of doing this. My priority is to have good performance with a minimum lose of features and code upkeep. I’m using a service pattern with a linq to sql repository. My design is not absolute, I’m willing to change it if it could increase performance :D I hope that I have describe my question good enough for you to understand what I mean, but ask away if there are anything I have missed.

• Python beginner having trouble running code

  For some reason this code will not seem to run in the interpreter. When I hit F5 nothing happens, not even the debugger seems to recognize it. I assume it has something to do with the class, as when removed the interpreter seems to recognize the rest of the code. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. • C# Find and Replace RegEx with wildcard search and addition of value

  Hello, The below code is from my other questions that I have asked here on SO. Everyone has been so helpful and I almost have a grasp with regards to RegEx but I ran into another hurdle. This is what I basically need to do in a nutshell. I need to take this line that is in a text file that I load into my content variable: X17.8Y-1.Z0.1G0H1E1 I need to do a wildcard search for the X value, Y value, Z value, and H value. When I am done, I need this written back to my text file (I know how to create the text file so that is not the problem). X17.8Y-1.G54G0T2 G43Z0.1H1M08 I have code that the kind users here have given me, except I need to create the T value at the end of the first line, and use the value from the H and increment it by 1 for the T value. For example: X17.8Y-1.Z0.1G0H5E1 would translate as: X17.8Y-1.G54G0T6 G43Z0.1H5M08 The T value is 6 because the H value is 5. I have code that does everything (does two RegEx functions and separates the line of code into two new lines and adds some new G values). But I don't know how to add the T value back into the first line and increment it by 1 of the H value.   Hi guys, I have another question. XMLhttpRequests haunt me. Everything is now in the database but I need this data to update my page on firt page load or reload. The XHR is triggered in JavaScript file which triggers PHP-Script. PHP-Script access MySQL database. But how do I get the fetched records back into my JavaScript for page update. I can not figure it out. • Editing 8bpp indexed Bitmaps

  hi, i'm trying to edit the pixels of a 8bpp. Since this PixelFormat is indexed i'm aware that it uses a Color Table to map the pixel values. Even though I can edit the bitmap by converting it to 24bpp, 8bpp editing is much faster (13ms vs 3ms). But, changing each value when accessing the 8bpp bitmap results in some random rgb colors even though the PixelFormat remains 8bpp. I'm currently developing in c# and the algorithm is as follows: (C#) 1- Load original Bitmap at 8bpp 2- Create Empty temp Bitmap with 8bpp with the same size as the original 3-LockBits of both bitmaps and, using P/Invoke, calling c++ method where I pass the Scan0 of each BitmapData object. (I used a c++ method as it offers better performance when iterating through the Bitmap's pixels) (C++) 4- Create a int[256] palette according to some parameters and edit the temp bitmap bytes by passing the original's pixel values through the palette. (C#) 5- UnlockBits. My question is how can I edit the pixel values without having the strange rgb colors, or even better, edit the 8bpp bitmap's Color Table? Regards, Pedro

• Sys is undefined

  I have an ASP.Net/AJAX control kit project that i am working on. 80% of the time there is no problem. The page runs as it should. If you refresh the page it will sometimes show a javascript error "Sys is undefined". It doesn't happen all the time, but it is reproducible. When it happens, the user has to shut down their browser and reopen the page. This leads me to believe that it could be an IIS setting. Another note. I looked at the page source both when I get the error, and when not.   I am using NHibernate 2.0.1 and .NET I am facing issues with Lazy loading an association I have a BusinessObject class that has associations to other BusinessObject in it, and it can go deeper. Assume the fieldName is BusinessDriver.Description and the BusinessObject which has this field is StrategyBusinessDriver This code breaks down the field name into two - BusinessDriver & Description. The first iteration reads the BusinessDriver object from StrategyBusinessDriver. It is cast into a BusinessObject type so that I can call the GetFieldValue again on it to read the next field i.e Description in the BusinessDriver. The problem is that when I read the BusinessDriver in the first iteration and cast it, I get the Ids and all other details of the BusinessObject but the field dictionary _data and other collections are not fetched. This should be fetched lazily when I read the _data of the BusinessObject. However, this does not happen and I get an error that _data is null. Is there something wrongly coded because of which the collection is not fetched lazily? Please ask for more clarifications if needed. Thanks in advance. UPDATE: It works when I don't do Lazy load.

• Programmatically call webmethods in C#

  I'm trying to write a function that can call a webmethod from a webserive given the method's name and URL of the webservice. I've found some code on a blog that does this just fine except for one detail. It requires that the request XML be provided as well. The goal here is to get the request XML template from the webservice itself. I'm sure this is possible somehow because I can see both the request and response XML templates if I access a webservice's URL in my browser. • Weird error running com-exposed assembly

  I am facing the following issue when deploying a com-exposed assembly to my client's. The COM component should be consummed by a vb6 application. Here's how it's done 1) I have one c# project which has a class with a couple of methods exposed to COM 2) The project has references to multiple assemblies 3) I compile the project, generating a folder (named dllcom) that contains the assembly plus all the referenced dlls 4) I include in the folder a .bat which does the following: regasm /u c:\dllcom\LibInsertador.dll del LibInsertador.tlb regasm c:\dllcom\LibInsertador.dll /tlb:c:\dllcom\LibInsertador.tlb /codebase c:\dllcom\ pause 5) After running the bat locally in many workstations of my laboratory, i'm able to consume the generated tlb from my vb6 application without any problems. I'm even able to update the dll by only means of running this bat, without having to recompile the vb6 application. I mean that im not having issues of vb6 fiding and invoking the exposed com object. The problem 6) I send the SAME FOLDER to my client 7) They execute the .bat locally, without any errors 8) They execute the vb6 application, vb6 finds the main assembly, the .net code seems to run correctly (it's even able to generate a log file) until it has to intantiate it's first referenced assembly. Then, they get the following exception: "Could not load type 'GYF.Common.TypeBuilder' from assembly 'GYF_Common, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'." Where "GYF.Common" is an assembly referenced by LibInsertador and TypeBuilder is a class contained in GYF.Common. GYF.Common is not a signed assembly and it's not in the GAC, just in the same folder with Libinsertador. According to .net reflector, the version is correct. ¿Any ideas about what could be happening?

• Upgrade to Delphi 2010, or stick with Delphi 7 "forever"?

  I am an individual user of Delphi, starting back in the early Turbo Pascal days. I have quite a bit of code developed over the years, but I have never sold software commercially or used it for business. Historically, Borland supported the non-professional users with lower cost versions, but Embarcadero does not. As I consider upgrading to Delphi 2010, I am put off by the high price. Embarcadero is also trying to "encourage" upgrading by threatening to charge "new user" prices for upgrades after Dec 31st. I have several questions for the community to help me decide whether to upgrade. 1) I have read about difficulties updating existing code to support the unicode string types. I have no need for unicode strings, and I am happy with the string support in D7. Will I have to modify existing code and components just to re-compile under D2010? Or are there compiler options to allow backward compatibility if new string types are not required? 2) The main reason I'm considering upgrading is for IDE improvements, and to get access to new APIs added to Windows since 2002. Are there any Windows 7 APIs or capabilities that would be impossible to support from my programs compiled using using Delphi 7 (assuming appropriate JEDI API libraries, for example)? 3) Is there anything else about Delphi 2010 that is really compelling for someone who is primarily interested in Win32 apps, and not working with databases? I have read that D2010 is slow to load, and other versions between D7 and D2010 have had stability issues, and the help system was "broken". What is the biggest benefit to D2010?

• Take screenshot with Selenium: WaitForPageToLoad does not wait long enough

  I'm trying to get screenshots from a web page with multiple browsers. Just experimenting with Selenium RC, I wrote code like this: var sel = new DefaultSelenium(server, 4444, target, url); sel.Start(); sel.Open(url); sel.WaitForPageToLoad("30000"); var imageString = sel.CaptureScreenshotToString(); This basically works, but in most cases the screenshot is of a blank browser window, because the page is not yet ready for display. It kind of works if I add a sleep just after the WaitForPageToLoad, but that slows down the fast browsers and/or may be to short for the slower browsers (or under load). A typical solution for this seems to be to wait for the presence of a certain element. However, this is meant as a simple generic solution to get a screenshot of a local web page with as many browsers as possible (to test the layout) and I don't want to have to enter certain element names or whatever. It's a simple tool where you just enter the Selenium Server URL and the URL you want to test, and get the screenshots back. Any advice?

• Junit: splitting integration test and Unit tests.

  Hello all, I've inherited a load of Junit test, but these tests (apart from most not working) are a mixture of actual unit test and integration tests (requiring external systems, db etc). So I'm trying to think of a way to actually separate them out, so that I can run the unit test nice and quickly and the integration tests after that. The options are.. 1: Split them into separate directories. 2: Move to Junit4 and annotate the classes to separate them. 3: Use a file naming convention to tell what a class is , i.e. AdapterATest and AdapterAIntergrationTest. 3 has the issue that Eclipse has the option to "Run all tests in the selected project/package or folder". So it would make it very hard to just run the integration tests. 2: runs the risk that developers might start writing integration tests in unit test classes and it just gets messy. 1: Seems like the neatest solution, but my gut says there must be a better solution out there. So that is my question, how do you lot break apart integration tests and proper unit tests?

  I am in the process of implementing the jqGrid and would like to be able to use the sorting functionality. I have run into some issues with sorting columns that are related to the base table.
