• Cut and paste out of/ into text fields in a separate window doesn't work

  I have a Macintosh Mozilla plugin which puts up a separate window for login information. It seems to work fine, it gets keyboard events like typing and hitting return to hit the default button. HOWEVER, it doesn't seem to get cut and paste events. When I hit Cmd-v, the edit menu flashes, but nothing happnes. Is this a problem with my responder chain? Do I have to specially tell Mozilla that I want these events? or am I likely to have some other problem that I haven't even thought of? thanks.

• Producer/consumer in Grails?

  Hi all, I'm trying to implement a Consumer/Producer app in Grails, after several unsuccessful attempts at implementing concurrent threads. Basically I want to store all the events coming from a clients (through separate AJAX calls) in a single queue and then process such a queue in a linear way as soon as new events are added. This looks like a Producer/Consumer problem: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Producer-consumer_problem How can I implement this in Grails (maybe with a timer or even better by generating an event 'process queue')? Basically I'd like to a have a singleton service waiting for new events in the queue and processing them linearly (even if the queue is loaded by several concurrent processes). Any hints? Cheers!

• Android: custom view onClickEvent with X & Y locations

  Hi, I've got a custom view and I want to get the X and Y coordinates of a user click. I've found that I can only get the coordinates from the onTouchEvent and an onClickEvent won't fire if I have an onTouchEvent. Unfortunately the onTouchEventfires when the user drags the screen as well as clicking. I've tried to differentiate between the two, but I still get the code firing when I'm dragging: public boolean onTouchEvent(MotionEvent event) { int action = event.getAction(); if (action == MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN) { //fires on drag and click I've had a look at this but as I mentioned above I don't think the solution there will work as I can't get the onClick and the onTouch events working at the same time. Maybe I'm doing something wrong in this respect, is there a normal way of dealing with capturing user input on custom events? Should I be able to use the onClick and onTouch events at the same time? • Organising dates in PHP

  Hi All, Im wanting to organize a series of dates in the following format. As a bit of context, the dates are the dates of upcoming events that can be added by my users. The format: January 2011 date - event date - event date - event February 2011 date - event date - event date - event with all events in a given month, arranged by the date on which they occur. All of my event dates are stored in my database as unix timestamps. Problem is, i dotn know where id start to develop a function that would order all of my events in this way. Can anyone help me out? • How to select items from XmlList

  My Flash designer is reading an XML stream I'm sending back to the browser (I'm a C# dev). We have this working fine. He is then selecting into an XMLList where a element has its id a certain value i.e. . This is also working just fine. In this XmlList, are Events, that look a little something like this: event startdate enddate end event I don't know how to use the formatting here - but each of those items is an element. startdate would have a value such as 04/02/2010 and enddate 6/30/2010. Now, from this XmlList I do have of Events, I need to select all Events where a new variable myDate, falls in between the startdate and enddate. I'm not sure how to do this in AS3 - can anyone help me? Thank you very much in advance!

• ProcessCmdKey - wait for KeyUp?

  Hi, I'm having the following issue in a WinForms app. I'm trying to implement Hotkeys and I need to process Key messages whenever the control is active, no matter if the focus is on a textbox within that control, etc. Overriding ProcessCmdKey works beautifully for this and does exactly what I want with one exception: If a user presses a key and keeps it pressed, ProcessCmdKey keeps triggering WM_KEYDOWN events. However, what I want to achieve is that the user has to release the button again before another hotkey action would trigger (so, if someone sits on the keyboard it would not cause continuous hotkey events). However, I can't find where to catch WM_KEYUP events, so I can set a flag if it should process ProcessCmdKey messages again? Anyone can help out here? Thanks, Tom

• BigDecimal precision not persisted with javax.persistence annotations

  I am using the javax.persistence API and Hibernate to create annotations and persist entities and their attributes in an Oracle 11g Express database. I have the following attribute in an entity: @Column(precision = 12, scale = 9) private BigDecimal weightedScore; The goal is to persist a decimal value with a maximum of 12 digits and a maximum of 9 of those digits to the right of the decimal place. After calculating the weightedScore, the result is 0.1234, but once I commit the entity with the Oracle database, the value displays as 0.12. I can see this by either by using an EntityManager object to query the entry or by viewing it directly in the Oracle Application Express (Apex) interface in a web browser. How should I annotate my BigDecimal attribute so that the precision is persisted correctly? Note: We use an in-memory HSQL database to run our unit tests, and it does not experience the issue with the lack of precision, with or without the @Column annotation.

• Is it possible to scan Entities in jar files using JPA and hibernate

  I have the following situation : Project A - Contains a few entities and is independent Project B - Contains a few entities and is independent Project C - Contains few entities and is dependent on Project A & Project B. I am using Maven to manage dependencies and builds. When I try to test Project A and project B it goes through fine. Each of them has a persistence.xml and a separate persistent context. When I run Project C , It does map any of the entities. I have tried to use the auto-detect, specified the jar file attribute ... but nothing seems to work. It gives me a Mapping Exception saying unknown entity and wont persist or read the Entities from Projects A or B. I have posted the 3 persistence.xml files here. Also, I tried using the class attribute and using the same persistent context but it just wont find the files. Any help is really appreciated. • Is 'second' a keyword in mysql full-text searches?

  I have a simple MySQL table that is setup for full text search. | id | title | ---------------------- | 1 | test event | | 2 | Second test | | 3 | Larry's event | | 4 | this second | When I use the query: SELECT * FROM EVENTS WHERE MATCH (title) AGAINST ('test event' IN BOOLEAN MODE); I get back 3 rows; the ones containing 'test event', 'Second test', and 'Larry's Event'. Now If I run the following query: SELECT * FROM EVENTS WHERE MATCH (title) AGAINST ('second' IN BOOLEAN MODE); Nothing is returned... strange? Lastly, if I run the query: SELECT * FROM EVENTS WHERE MATCH (title) AGAINST ('second test' IN BOOLEAN MODE); I get back 2 rows; the ones containing 'test event' and 'Second test'. I appears that the word 'second' cannot be searched or needs to be escaped somehow. Am I missing something?

• How to limit a google calendar xml / rss feed by date range (not working!!)

  For the life of me I cannot get my google calendar xml feed to only display events within a certain date range. I know that start-min and start-max are supposed to limit the output (according to these posts: (links to posts deleted because I am a newbie and can only post one hyperlink argh) BUT I CAN'T GET IT TO WORK. It keeps showing lot of things outside the range. I created a sample calendar and made it public. It is some events the first week of april. Can anyone show me how to construct a request that only returns those three events from the first week in april? I'll GLADLY and GRATEFULLY paypal $10 to anyone who helps me break through on this. • Accurate Timings with Oscilloscopes on PC

  In the world of embedded software (firmware) it is fairly common to observe the order of events, take timings and optimise a program by getting it to waggle PIO lines and capturing their behavior on an oscilloscope. In days gone by it was possible to toggle pins on the serial and parallel ports to achieve much the same thing on PC-based software. This made it possible to capture host PC-based software events and firmware events on the same trace and examine host software/firmware interactions. Now, my new laptop ... no serial or parallel ports! This is increasingly the case. So, does anyone have any suggestions as to go about emitting accurate timing signals off a "modern" PC? It strikes me that we don't have any immediately programmable, lag-free output pins left. The solution needs to run off a laptop, so using add-on cards that only plug into desktops are not permitted.

• Django Distinct on queryset in forms.py

  Hi all, I try to get a list with distinct into the forms.py like this: forms.ModelMultipleChoiceField(queryset=Events.objects.values('hostname'), required=False).distinct() In the python shell this command works perfect, but when trying it in forms.py leaves me a blank form, so nothing appears. When i just do Events.objects.all() the form appears, but distinct doesn't work with Events.objects.all()... i also tried values_list etc but doesn't seem to fit into the forms neither... anyone got an idea how to get a SELECT DISTINCT into a ModelMultipleChoiceField? I read some other questions about this at stackoverflow but nothing seems to work out with me, so hopefully someone knows how to do this in forms.py. Thxs in advance

  I´m developing a webpage that contains two <p> tags (program and events), that shows two different contents. When I click the program button (it´s a <p> tag), it´s ok, it shows the table on the div´s. But, when I click the events button, again it shows the program <p> tag contents, and I want to show the events table content. I´ve read de solution for this question on this site, but not happens, when I change my JS file, the content of both <p> tags disapears. Can somebody help me?

• Clean way to perform commands in the Emacs minibuffer

  Consider the following example: I want to read a file using ido from the minibuffer, but merge in all of the directories I use often. I can't just execute (ido-find-file) (ido-merge-work-directories) Because the second sexp will only execute after the user is finished selecting the file. The question then is: what is the best/cleanest way to execute commands in the minibuffer's command loop? The only way I know to do this is to bind my desired command to a key sequence, and add that sequence to unread-command-events so the key runs once we enter the minibuffer command loop: (setq unread-command-events (append (listify-key-sequence (kbd "M-s")) unread-command-events)) ; std key-binding for ido-merge-work-directories (ido-find-file) But that is very hacky, and I would like to know if there is a better solution.   Hi all, I got a strange issue today while working on ExtJS charts. I am trying to use some of the events for the chart when user clicks on the chart items. I found the following events are available: itemclick, itemdoubleclick, itemdrag, itemdragstart, itemdragend, itemmouseover, itemmouseout Here is my test chart where I have implemented all these events. Each event just create a list tag in my debuging console. The issue is, no matter what, itemdoubleclick do not get fired! what is the issue? • Sequence Generators in T-SQL

  We have an Oracle application that uses a standard pattern to populate surrogate keys. We have a series of extrinsic rows (that have specific values for the surrogate keys) and other rows that have intrinsic values. We use the following Oracle trigger snippet to determine what to do with the Surrogate key on insert: 'IF :NEW.SurrogateKey IS NULL THEN SELECT SurrogateKey_SEQ.NEXTVAL INTO :NEW.SurrogateKey FROM DUAL; END IF;' If the supplied surrogate key is null then get a value from the nominated sequence, else pass the supplied surrogate key through to the row. I can't seem to find an easy way to do this is T-SQL. There are all sorts of approaches, but none of which use the notion of a sequence generator like Oracle and other SQL-92 compliant DBs do. Anybody know of a really efficient way to do this in SQL Server T-SQL? BTW we're using SQL Server 2008 if that's any help. TIA, Paolo

• Django Initial for a ManyToMany Field

I would like to use the form to pass all the values as hidden with an inital values of username defaulting to the logged in user so that it becomes a subscribe form. • SQL Server 2000 DTS Package Failing with "The number of failing rows exceeds the maximum specified"

  I have inherited a SQL Server 2000 DTS package that migrates data from SQL Server to Oracle. This package moves about 20 tables' data to Oracle every night with no transformations, and it is then transformed by a set of SPs and used by a GIS application. Twice this week, during the migration between SQL Server and Oracle, the package has failed with "The number of failing rows exceeds the maximum specified". It has failed on a different table each time, though. Each time it's failed, we've rerun the process the next morning and it has worked. Because the process works the second time it's run, it makes me think the data is being changed by someone or something between the initial failure and our successful second run. I would like to change the DTS package to log the failing rows in a text document so we can compare them later. Can someone help me with that? I can't seem to figure that part out. Scott

  I have array distanceListArray.. 5 km, 10 km, 15km, 20 km, 25 km. distanceListArray is of appDelegate.class distanceArray count is 5. Now i do have another array. which have list of events data ... eventListArray is of DistanceClass call eventListArray. for 5 km its displays 10 events, for 10 km its display 20 events. Now i need to load data for each section from distanceListArray of eventListArray Into another new array. All Arrays's are NSMutableArray. I hope this makes ambiguity. please help try to help me out.

  I know it is better coding practice to avoid inline javascript like: <img id="the_image" onclick="do_this(true);return false;"/> I am thinking about switching this kind of stuff for bound jquery click events like: $("#the_image").bind("click",function(){ do_this(true); return false; }); Will I lose any performance if I bind a ton of click events? I am not worried about the time it takes to initially bind the events, but the response times between clicking and it happening. I bet if there is a difference, it is negligible, but I will have a ton of functions bound. I'm wondering if browsers treat the onclick attribute the same way as a bound event. Thanks

• What is the best way to access Google Calendar from ruby?

  I'm writing an app for a company that uses Google Calendar internally and would need to use events they already have in their calendar in the app. So I need to get read only access to their calendars from the app (namely I need the events title, start and end dates and attendee emails for all future events). What is the simplest way to do this in ruby (I would need it to work relatively seamlessly on Heroku)? I tried using the GCal4Ruby gem which seemed the least outdated of the ones I found but I'm unable to even authenticate through the library (HTTPRequestFailed - Captcha required error) let alone get the info I need.

• Long polling with NSURLConnection

  I'm working on an iPhone application which will use long-polling to send event notifications from the server to the client over HTTP. After opening a connection on the server I'm sending small bits of JSON that represent events, as they occur. I am finding that -[NSURLConnectionDelegate connection:didReceiveData] is not being called until after I close the connection, regardless of the cache settings I use when creating the NSURLRequest. I've verified that the server end is working as expected - the first JSON event will be sent immediately, and subsequent events will be sent over the wire as they occur. Is there a way to use NSURLConnection to receive these events as they occur, or will I need to instead drop down to the CFSocket API? I'm starting to work on integrating CocoaAsyncSocket, but would prefer to continue using NSURLConnection if possible as it fits much better with the rest of my REST/JSON-based web service structure.

• How can I detect if the Solution is initializing using the DTE in a VisualStudio extension?

  I am using the DTE to track when projects are loaded and removed from the solution so that I can update a custom Test Explorer extension. I then trigger a container discovery process. But when the solution is first loaded it does an asynchronous load of some projects and fires a lot of Project Added events. What I would really like to do is to ignore all of these events until the solution is done loading. I can't quite figure out the order of events such that I know for sure that this initialization process has completed. It would be really nice to be able to just query the solution object and ask it. Does anyone know if there is a property or interface or event that I can use to determine this?
