• MySQL - Selecting the top occuring entries

  Hi, Should be a simple one. Database is mydb. One of the columns is mydata. What SELECT query do I need in order to select the top 3 occuring results from mydata, but sorted alphabetically? For example, if my data is this: mydata ====== kilo (x 1 occurrence) lima (x 9 occurrences) golf (x 5 occurrences) echo (x 9 occurrences) zulu (x 8 occurrences) How do I get it to return "echo, lima, zulu", which are the top three frequently occurring entries sorted alphabetically? • Associating multiple MySQL queries w/ PHP?

  I am trying to create a simple inventory request system. A user can enter multiple SKU's that will query the inventory database. My problem is I am trying to do is associate these multiple queries into a type of list. This list can later be retrieved and contains all queries that were submitted simultaneously. When the list is filled it can then be deleted. Is this possible? I am just looking to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks

  I am trying to figure out how to dynamically specify the properties for my select clause in a linq query. Lets say I have a collection of employee objects. At run time, the end user will be specifying which properties they would like to see for those employees, so I need to be able to dynamically construct my Linq select clause. I have used the dynamic Linq library, but I prefer not to use that, because it requires me to build a string to pass to the select method. I'd like to understand how to do this via Expressions.

• Classic asp paging and session state

  Hi, Working on a classic asp page that uses paging. The error I am having a problem with is this: Lets say that you have 5 pages returned in your record set and you are on page 2. You leave and come back, you then press the link for page 3, the trouble is your session has timed out. I don't know why this happens but the page is reloaded, but the session check is bypassed and of course when the page attempts to retrieve the record set the session variables are now empty so I am getting a message stating: error near ',' line 1, because now the query is defunct. How do I get around this? Thanks, Ron.

  I am trying to get the Count of all records that have at least on person who is authorized on the record. Basically, a Record can have more than one person associated with it. I want to return the count of Total Records, a count of total Authorized Records where at least 1 person is authorized, and a count of total NotAuthorized records where no person associated with record is authorized. It doesn't matter if one person is authorized per Record or if 3 people are authorized for that record, that should add 1 to the Authorized counter. The current query is incrementing Auth and Non auth for each person added per record rather, than one per record. If no people are assigned to the record that should also count towards Not Auth. • Entity Framework 5 upgrade from 4

  I'm having an issue with the Where clause in a search, in my original version EF4 I could add a Where clause with 2 parameters, the where clause (string predicate) and a ObjectParameter list such as var query = context.entities.Where(WhereClause.ToString(), Params.ToArray()); since my upgrade to EF5 I don't seem to have that option am I missing something? This was originally used to build dynamic where clause such as "it.entity_id = @entity_id" then holding the variable value in the ObjectParameter. I'm hoping I don't have to rewrite all the searches that have been built out this way, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

• How should I capture clickstream data?

  I'd like to start using clickstream analysis to improve a dynamic site's user experience. I'd like to rule out two options: parameterizing URLs (index.php?src=http://www.example.com) and immediate database logging. The former makes pretty ugly URLs and isn't great for SEO and the latter might slow down page render when there are lots of concurrent users. Assuming these aren't viable options, I think I'm left with doing an asynchronous POST to a server side script that runs a database query and returns a 204 (no data) response. Is this the best option for capturing clickstream data?

• Complicated Order By Clause?

  Hi. I need to do what to me is an advanced sort. I have this two tables: Table: Fruit fruitid | received | basketid 1 20100310 2 2 20091205 3 3 20100220 1 4 20091129 2 Table: Basket id | name 1 Big Discounts 2 Premium Fruit 3 Standard Produce I'm not even sure I can plainly state how I want to sort (which is probably a big part of the reason I can't seem to write code to do it, lol). I do a join query and need to sort so everything is organized by basketid. The basketid that has the oldest fruit.received date comes first, then the other rows with the same basketid by date asc, then the basketid with the next earliest fruit.received date followed by the other rows with the same basketid, and so on. So the output would look like this: Fruitid | Received | Basket 4 20091129 Premuim Fruit 1 20100310 Premuim Fruit 2 20091205 Standard Produce 3 20100220 Big Discounts Any ideas how to accomplish this in a single execution?

How to modify the stored procedure so that I can use it with LINQ to SQL. Note: I need to have global template table!

• Use Javascript variable in PHP

  I have seen some answers to this question in previous posts, but no one has given a real working example, just psuedo code. Has anyone ever done this before? Basically, what i have is a variable in javascript (jquery), and i want to use this variable to drive a query (for an overlay window) i am going to run in php. From what i have read you can do this using an ajax call to the same page so it doesnt refresh itself, but i must be missing something because i can't get it working... Any examples out there?   I have a relatively simple PHP page called editcustomers with 3 columns. The problem I'm having is that the form will show when there is a record in the database and the fields will be populated with that info. When no such records exists, the form is not even shown, eliminating the possibility to insert a record. My page layout is as follows: Column 1 shows a form containing customer information, allowing it to be edited. Column 2 allows ordering of products and showing how many products were ordered Column 3 shows the total paid so far, and the total owing. What is the smallest number of training examples one needs to provide so that the Find-S algorithm perfectly learns a particular target concept (e.g. (2 = x = 4, 6 = y = 9))? When can we say that the target concept is exactly learned in the case of the Find-S algorithm, and what is the optimal query strategy? I'd also like to know the answer w.r.t Candidate Elimination.   I'm developing a cube in SSAS and attempting to model the following relationships: Many Facts to 1 Customer Many Customers to Many Sales Reps Many Sales Reps (Subordinates) to Sales Reps (Managers) Each M2M relationship is facilitated by a bridge table which also acts as a fact table in the cube I have most of this working. I can slice Facts by Customer and by Sales Rep (Subordinate), but when I add Sales Rep (Manager) to the query it appears to return every subordinate/manager combination regardless of whether or not that relationship exists in the bridge table. Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong?

(indexing method returns based on the active language) What I have tried: I created a function that runs a loop over every available language (from settings) appending any translation to a list, evaluating this against the query, pre search. If any colors are matched it converts them backwards into their numeric representation to evaluate against obj.color, but this feels wrong.

• Wordpress parses wp_posts.post_content before rendering?

  I noticed that when I call the the_post() or the_content() function from my wordpress template, it automatically parses the database data to replace new lines with <br/>, wraps the text with <p> tags etc...There's probably some kind of "format" function within the_post() or the_content(). I wrote a query to directly get posts from the wp_posts. I then print it out like <?php $results = $wp->get_results($sql) foreach($results as $row) echo $row->post_content; ?> Clearly, this data is not parsed by wordpress' "format" function. What is the proper way to output this content such that it undergoes the same "formatting" functions as the_post() or the_content()?

• Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 issue

  Net 4.0 websites running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 server using IIS 7.0. The websites allows Single Sign on via an encrypted token passed in a query string e.g. www.mywebsite.com?token=1159CE30A4ED1148E86D779AC7A1CF4DC75CCEC7213401D13CA181A2ED1C29A8. However, after installing Service Pack 1; SSO has stopped working and the website redirects to www.mywebsite.com. The redirect occurs before any code is hit. No idea what is causing this and any ideas would be much appreciated.

  My code in asp classic, doing a mssql database query: rs.pagesize = 1000 ' this should enable paging rs.maxrecords = 0 ' 0 = unlimited maxrecords response.write "hello world 1<br>" rs.open strSql, conn response.write "hello world 2<br>" My output when there are fewer than 1000 rows returned is good. More than 1000 rows and I don't get the "hello world 2". I thought that setting pagesize sets up paging and thus allows all rows to be returned regardless of how many rows there are. Without setting pagesize, paging is not enable and the limit is 1000 rows. However my page is acting as if pagesize is not working at all. Please advise.
