  • Javascript Getting specific element (of parent) by name

    - by Fluidbyte
I'm using custom tags to define sections in an application, so I have something like this: <mysection> <form> <input name="myfield"> </form> </mysection> I'm using the following and able to get the tag (printed to console, everything is groovy) var parent = document.getElementsByTagName('mysection'); The issue I'm having is finding the child field by name: var myfield = parent.getElementsByName("myfield"); ...as I don't want to pick up on any other 'sections' that might have an input with the name 'myfield'. EDIT: var parent = document.getElementsByTagName('mysection')[0]; was suggested and returns to console the section contents, however, getElementsByName throws an error: Uncaught TypeError: Object #<NodeList> has no method 'getElementsByName'

  • Unable to recieve file contents on server during upload

    - by Khushal
Hello, I have a JSP page in which I have a file input field from which I browse a csv file and then upload it on server. I am using method = "POST" and ENCTYPE='multipart/form-data' in the form in which this file input field is present. On the servlet side(in the application's servlet) I am making use of apache's commom file upload API-ServletFileUpload API. After getting the FileItem list from the method parseRequest(request) of this API I am unable to get the file name and its content by using the methods getName(), getString() of FileItem API. Needed to know what am I doing wrong or any modifications in my approach that will make my application to work. Any pointers regarding this will be helpful. Thanks in advance!!

  • Django: Is it possible to attach media files (css, javascript etc) to a View-class?

    - by mrmclovin
I can't fins any information on how to define css or javascript files in a view like: class MyView(View): .... class Media: css = { 'all' : 'mystyle.css' } If you have a form you can do like: class MyForm(ModelForm): .... class Media: css = { 'all' : 'mystyle.css' } And then in the template you can print the files like; {{ form.media.css }} I like that Syntax very much and I like to keep the View-specific css files in the app-directory. Does anyone know if it's possible? Thanks!

  • Should I create a new window or modify the old one?

    - by Roman
I am programming a GUI application in Java. I do it for the first time. I would like to have a form (with radio buttons and so on). After the form is filled in and the "Submit" button is pressed I would like to have a new window. I see two potential ways to do it: Close the "old" window and open a "new" one. Remove "old" elements from the existing window and put there "new" elements. What is the standard way to go? If it is the first way, what is the command to close the window? If it is the second one, how can I remove elements from the existing window?

  • Possible to get jquery .serializeArray() values out by key name?

    - by chobo2
Hi I am using the jquery .serializeArray() function and I send it to the server and that works all good. However I need to update a couple things on the client side that are serialized. So instead of doing another selector on the textbox I want to just grab it out of the serialized array. I am not sure how to do this Product=Test&Qty=50 So say if I have something like this. I can I do something like this var sendFormData = form.serializeArray(); var val = sendFormData["Product"].value; but this seems not to work. I only can get it to work when I do something like this var sendFormData = form.serializeArray(); var val = sendFormData[0].value; I really don't want to do it by index since that means if the order changes the values could be all wrong. If you could do it by like keyname then that would not be a problem.

  • Java Web Application

    - by Mark R
I am interested in creating a simple web application that will take in user input, convert it to an XML file and send the file to a database. Coding wise I feel I am okay, it is just the general setup and what implementation to use I am a bit unsure of. At the moment I have a JSP page containing a form, the user fills out the form and on submit a get method is sent to a servlet, in the servlet doGet() method the servlet is instantiating a java object and passing it the user inputted data. The java object then writes that data to an XML file and sends it to the database via REST. All I would be interested to know is if this the standard/optimal way of creating such a web application. Any and all feedback is appreciated. Thanks

  • Make jQuery AJAX have a non-javascript (non-ajax) fallback?

    - by DrAgonmoray
I've gotten a fair amount of work done on my latest project, but I've realized there's a bit of a problem: If you don't have a Javascript-enabled browser, you can't submit any forms because every form uses AJAX to submit it. My question to you all: How can I implement some sort of "fallback" so that if they don't have Javascript enabled, they can still submit the form. Currently I have a banner along the header that says "For the optimal (and by "optimal," we mean "actually working") experience, please enable Javascript in your browser." but that seems like less than the optimal solution. Thanks!

  • How can I set a default value when incorrect/invalid input is entered in Unix?

    - by user2889968
i want to set the value of inputLineNumber to 20. I tried checking if no value is given by user by [[-z "$inputLineNumber"]] and then setting the value by inputLineNumber=20. The code seems to be working correct when no value is given but I also receive ./t.sh: [-z: not found as message on the console. Is there some way to not print this message. Here's my full script as well. #!/bin/sh cat /dev/null>copy.txt echo "Please enter the sentence you want to search:" read "inputVar" echo "Please enter the name of the file in which you want to search:" read "inputFileName" echo "Please enter the number of lines you want to copy:" read "inputLineNumber" [[-z "$inputLineNumber"]] || inputLineNumber=20 cat /dev/null > copy.txt for N in `grep -n $inputVar $inputFileName | cut -d ":" -f1` do LIMIT=`expr $N + $inputLineNumber` sed -n $N,${LIMIT}p $inputFileName >> copy.txt echo "-----------------------" >> copy.txt done cat copy.txt

  • Building my first Javascript Application (jQuery), struggling on something

    - by Jason Wells
I'd really appreciate recommendations on the most efficient way to approach this. I'm building a simple javascript application which displays a list of records and allows the user to edit a record by clicking an "Edit" link in the records row. The user also can click the "Add" link to pop open a dialog allowing them to add a new record. Here's a working prototype of this: http://jsfiddle.net/FfRcG/ You'll note if you click "Edit" a dialog pops up with some canned values. And, if you click "Add", a dialog pops up with empty values. I need help on how to approach two problems I believe we need to pass our index to our edit dialog and reference the values within the JSON, but I am unsure how to pass the index when the user clicks edit. It bothers me that the Edit and Add div contents are so similiar (Edit just pre populates the values). I feel like there is a more efficient way of doing this but am at a loss. Here is my code for reference $(document).ready( function(){ // Our JSON (This would actually be coming from an AJAX database call) people = { "COLUMNS":["DATEMODIFIED", "NAME","AGE"], "DATA":[ ["9/6/2012", "Person 1","32"], ["9/5/2012","Person 2","23"] ] } // Here we loop over our JSON and build our HTML (Will refactor to use templating eventually) members = people.DATA; var newcontent = '<table width=50%><tr><td>date</td><td>name</td><td>age</td><td></td></tr>'; for(var i=0;i<members.length;i++) { newcontent+= '<tr id="member'+i+'"><td>' + members[i][0] + '</td>'; newcontent+= '<td>' + members[i][1] + '</td>'; newcontent+= '<td>' + members[i][2] + '</td>'; newcontent+= '<td><a href="#" class="edit" id=edit'+i+'>Edit</a></td><td>'; } newcontent += "</table>"; $("#result").html(newcontent); // Bind a dialog to the edit link $(".edit").click( function(){ // Trigger our dialog to open $("#edit").dialog("open"); // Not sure the most efficient way to change our dialog field values $("#name").val() // ??? alert($()); return false; }); // Bind a dialog to the add link $(".edit").click( function(){ // Trigger our dialog to open $("#add").dialog("open"); return false; }); // Bind a dialog to our edit DIV $("#edit").dialog(); // Bind a dialog to our add DIV $("#add").dialog(); }); And here's the HTML <h1>People</h1> <a href="#" class="add">Add a new person</a> <!-- Where results show up --> <div id="result"></div> <!-- Here's our edit DIV - I am not clear as to the best way to pass the index in our JSON so that we can reference positions in our array to pre populate the input values. --> <div id="edit"> <form> <p>Name:<br/><input type="text" id="name" value="foo"></p> <p>Age:<br/><input type="text" id="age" value="33"></p> <input type="submit" value="Save" id="submitEdit"> </form> </div> <!-- Here's our add DIV - This layout is so similiar to our edit dialog. What is the most efficient way to handle a situation like this? --> <div id="add"> <form> <p>Name:<br/><input type="text" id="name"></p> <p>Age:<br/><input type="text" id="age"></p> <input type="submit" value="Save" id="submitEdit"> </form> </div>

  • How to validate if all check boxes are ticked in jQuery?

    - by Jude
I am a beginner in jQuery and I was wondering how to validate the form before submission specifically for check boxes. I am creating a simple check list form where my user would tick a check box if he finished that step. What I am planning to do is that, the script would prevent the form submission if there is an "unticked" checkbox and highlight it with a color. Here's my code : <!doctype html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>checkbox</title> <style> .error { background-color:#F00; } .valid { background-color:#0F0; } </style> <script type="application/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.8.2.min.js"> </script> <script type="application/javascript"> function validateAll() { $(".tick").change(function(){ if ($('.tick:checked').length == $('.tick').length) { $('#container').removeClass(); $('#container').addClass('error'); } else { $('#container').removeClass(); $('#container').addClass('valid'); } }); } </script> </head> <body> <div id="container"><input class="tick" id="option1" type="checkbox"></div> <div id="container"><input class="tick" id="option1" type="checkbox"></div> <input id="button" type="button" onClick="validateAll();" value="check"> </body> </html> So what I am trying to do here is when the user clicks the button, the script will highlight all the unchecked check box with red and highlight all checked with green. However, my script is not functioning. What is wrong with my script? Any suggestions on a more efficient way to do this?

  • JQuery or Javascript solution for selecting default value in drop down

    - by user1446843
I have a calender list in a webpart page, this webpart page has a version number in it's title e.g. "WebPart 1.62". What I need to do is when a New item is created in the calender list on a webpart page, the New Item form has a dropdown menu 'SystemID' which gets it's values from the title column of a 'Systems' list, which is pre-populated with all versions of webpart forms. This dropdown menu 'SystemID' should select the version of the webpart page it is in as the default value. I need a JQuery solution for this, or even Javascript. I am finding it difficult as I am new to both JQuery and Sharepoint. I am using SP2007. I'll appreciate any guidance in solving this. At the moment the Create New Item form of the Calender list has the 'SystemID' drop down list pre-populated with the versions from the Systems list. If anyhthing is unclear pls let me know and I'll explain in more detail.

  • NSMutableArray with NSDictionary to Labels without the surrounding brackets

    - by bigubosu
I'm making a scoreboard for my game. And when I do a NSLog of the data it comes out as this: { name = TTY; score = "3.366347"; } So my question is how do I remove this brackets and also just grab the name (TTY) and score (3.36 without the quotations) and place them in variable for me to put into labels. Currently I can place them in labels but they have the lingering curly braces "{" and "}". Any hints would be helpful as I'm happy to search further I just don't know the vocab to search for it. thanks

  • Run CGI in IIS 7 to work with GET without Requiring POST Request

    - by Mohamed Meligy
I'm trying to migrate an old CGI application from an existing Windows 2003 server (IIS 6.0) where it works just fine to a new Windows 2008 server with IIS 7.0 where we're getting the following problem: After setting up the module handler and everything, I find that I can only access the CGI application (rdbweb.exe) file if I'm calling it via POST request (form submit from another page). If I just try to type in the URL of the file (issuing a GET request) I get the following error: HTTP Error 502.2 - Bad Gateway The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. The headers it did return are "Exception EInOutError in module rdbweb.exe at 00039B44. I/O error 6. ". This is a very old application for one of our clients. When we tried to call the vendor they said we need to pay ~ $3000 annual support fee in order to start the talk about it. Of course I'm trying to avoid that! Note that: If we create a normal HTML form that submits to "rdbweb.exe", we get the CGI working normally. We can't use this as workaround though because some pages in the application link to "rdbweb.exe" with normal link not form submit. If we run "rdbweb.exe". from a Console (Command Prompt) Window not IIS, we get the normal HTML we'd typically expect, no problem. We have tried the following: Ensuring the CGI module mapped to "rdbweb.exe".in IIS has all permissions (read, write, execute) enabled and also all verbs are allowed not just specific ones, also tried allowing GET, POST explicitely. Ensuring the application bool has "enable 32 bit applications" set to true. Ensuring the website runs with an account that has full permissions on the "rdbweb.exe".file and whole website (although we know it "read", "execute" should be enough). Ensuring the machine wide IIS setting for "ISAPI and CGI Restrictions" has the full path to "rdbweb.exe".allowed. Making sure we have the latest Windows Updates (for IIS6 we found knowledge base articles stating bugs that require hot fixes for IIS6, but nothing similar was found for IIS7). Changing the module from CGI to Fast CGI, not working also Now the only remaining possibility we have instigated is the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/145661 - Which is about: CGI Error: The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. The headers it did return are: the article suggests the following solution: Modify the source code for the CGI application header output. The following is an example of a correct header: print "HTTP/1.0 200 OK\n"; print "Content-Type: text/html\n\n\n"; Unfortunately we do not have the source to try this out, and I'm not sure anyway whether this is the issue we're having. Can you help me with this problem? Is there a way to make the application work without requiring POST request? Note that on the old IIS6 server the application is working just fine, and I could not find any special IIS configuration that I may want to try its equivalent on IIS7.

  • How to publish an ASP.NET MVC application to a free host

    - by Lirik
Hi, I'm using a free web host (0000free) which supports ASP.NET MVC, but it uses Mono. This is the first time I deploy an MVC application, so I'm a little confused as to where I need to deploy it. I have Visual Studio 2010 and I used its Publish Feature (i.e. right click on the project name and click publish) and I tried several things: Publish method: FTP to the root folder. Publish method: FTP to the publich_html folder. Publish method: File System to the root folder. Publish method: File System to the publich_html folder. Publish method: File System to a local directory on my computer and then FTP to root and also tried the public_html folder. I went into the cPanel (control panel) to try and see if ASP.NET has to be added/enabled for my web site, but I didn't see anything there. I can't browse to Index.aspx nor can I redirect to it from index.html (as suggested from other posts on the host forum), right now I have a link from index.html to Index.aspx but it's not working either (see http://www.mydevarmy.com) I've also tried renaming Index.aspx to Default.aspx, but that doesn't work either. The search utility of the forum of the host is somewhat weak, so I use google to search their forum: http://www.google.com/search?q=publish+asp.net+site%3A0000free.com%2Fforum%2F&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a I've been reading Pro ASP.NET MVC Framework and they have a chapter about publishing, but it doesn't provide any specific information with respect to the location of publishing, this is all they say (and it's not very helpful in my case): Where Should I Put My Application? You can deploy your application to any folder on the server. When IIS first installs, it automatically creates a folder for a web site called Default Web Site at c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\, but you shouldn’t feel any obligation to put your application files there. It’s very common to host applications on a different physical drive from the operating system (e.g., in e:\websites\ example.com). It’s entirely up to you, and may be influenced by concerns such as how you plan to back up the server. Here is the exception I get when I try to view my Index.aspx page: Unrecognized attribute 'targetFramework'. (/home/devarmy/public_html/Web.config line 1) Description: HTTP 500. Error processing request. Stack Trace: System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: Unrecognized attribute 'targetFramework'. • Single-Signon options for Exchange 2010

    - by freiheit
We're working on a project to migrate employee email from Unix/open-source (courier IMAP, exim, squirrelmail, etc) to Exchange 2010, and trying to figure out options for single-signon for Outlook Web Access. So far all the options I've found are very ugly and "unsupportable", and may simply not work with Forefront. We already have JA-SIG CAS for token-based single-signon and Shibboleth for SAML. Users are directed to a simple in-house portal (a Perl CGI, really) that they use to sign in to most stuff. We have an HA OpenLDAP cluster that's already synchronized against another AD domain and will be synchronized with the AD domain Exchange will be using. CAS authenticates against LDAP. The portal authenticates against CAS. Shibboleth authenticates with CAS but pulls additional data from LDAP. We're moving in the direction of having web services authenticate against CAS or Shibboleth. (Students are already on SAML/Shibboleth authenticated Google Apps for Education) With Squirrelmail we have a horrible hack linked to from that portal page that authenticates against CAS, gets your original plaintext password (yes, I know, evil), and gives you an HTTP form pre-filled with all the necessary squirrelmail login details with javaScript onLoad stuff to immediately submit the form. Trying to find out exactly what is possible with Exchange/OWA seems to be difficult. "CAS" is both the acronym for our single-signon server and an Exchange component. From what I've been able to tell there's an addon for Exchange that does SAML, but only for federating things like free/busy calendar info, not authenticating users. Plus it costs additional money so there's no way to experiment with it to see if it can be coaxed into doing what we want. Our plans for the Exchange cluster involve Forefront Threat Management Gateway (the new ISA) in the DMZ front-ending the CAS servers. So, the real question: Has anybody managed to make Exchange authenticate with CAS (token-based single-signon) or SAML, or with something I can reasonably likely make authenticate with one of those (such as anything that will accept apache's authentication)? With Forefront? Failing that, anybody have some tips on convincing OWA Forms Based Authentication (FBA) into letting us somehow "pre-login" the user? (log in as them and pass back cookies to the user, or giving the user a pre-filled form that autosubmits like we do with squirrelmail). This is the least-favorite option for a number of reasons, but it would (just barely) satisfy our requirements. From what I hear from the guy implementing Forefront, we may have to set OWA to basic authentication and do forms in Forefront for authentication, so it's possible this isn't even possible. I did find CasOwa, but it only mentions Exchange 2007, looks kinda scary, and as near as I can tell is mostly the same OWA FBA hack I was considering slightly more integrated with the CAS server. It also didn't look like many people had had much success with it. And it may not work with Forefront. There's also "CASifying Outlook Web Access 2", but that one scares me, too, and involves setting up a complex proxy config, which seems more likely to break. And, again, doesn't look like it would work with Forefront. Am I missing something with Exchange SAML (OWA Federated whatchamacallit) where it is possible to configure to do user authentication and not just free/busy access authorization?

  • Wear and tear on server hard drive from filesystem polling by PHP script

    - by jackie
So I'm working on a discussion platform, and various clients will visit http://host/thread.php, which will render the discussion thread to date in addition to a form to submit a new post. When a new post is submitted, I would like all of the other clients with browser windows open to have it appear in near-real-time. One of the constraints of my script is that it may not use a DBMS and it must stay in the filesystem. Additionally, I can't use any PECL/PEAR extensions like inotify or anything like that for IPC. The flow will look like this: Client A requests thread.php and the thread is so far empty, but nonetheless it opens a Server-Side Event at eventPusher.php. Client B does the same. Client A fills out a post in the form and and submits (POSTs) it to subHandler.php. ??? (subHandler stores the new submission into the main thread storefile which gets read from when a fresh, new client requests thread.php, in addition to somehow signalling to the continually-running eventPusher event-source that a new comment was posted and that it should echo the event-json to the client. How, exactly, it will send this signal I'm yet unsure of, but there are a few options that I've thought of -- this is the crux of the question, so see below for more clarification) eventPusher.php happily pushes the new event to the client and it shows up soon after it was originally submitted on all clients who have the page open's screens. Now for the #4 missing-link mystery-step, I see a few problems. I mean, either way, eventPusher is gonna be doing a while loop of some sort -- it's gonna be polling something, I think that much is clear. (If that's a bad assumption please do let me know.) Now, the simplest way would be subHandler gets invoked on the form submission, writes it to the main store in addition to newComments.xml, then exits without doing anything else. Then eventPusher checks in newComments.xml every X seconds (by the way, what would be a reasonable time interval here?) and if it finds something then it emits an event to the client. Now, my fear with this is that the server's hard drive will have to constantly start spinning up. Maybe this isn't the case, perhaps it would just get cached in RAM and the linux kernel would take care of this transparently such that filesystem access doesn't actually engage the device because the kernel knows that that particular file hasn't changed since last read. * idea #2: I have no idea how to go about this, but perhaps there is a variable scope that gets stored in general RAM on the system which can be read by any process. Like if we mega-exported a bash variable so that $new_post is normally false but it gets toggled to true by subHandler, and then back to flase once it's pushed to the client. I doubt there's such a variable scope in PHP directly, but I struggle with the concept of variable scope, I just can't seem to understand it no matter what I read on it. * idea #3: eventPusher queries ps in its whileloop for another instance of itself. If there's not another eventPusher active then it's highly unlikely that new comments will be getting submitted. It's okay if this only works =90% of the time, it doesn't need to be completely foolproof. * idea #4: eventPusher queries DMESG to see if that file's been written to recently. So to sum everything up, I need to have inter-php-script-communication in near-real-time that will work on a standard mod_php shared hosting setup without any elevated privileges, PHP addon modules, or other system adjustments that can't be done from the PHP script itself at runtime. With*out* spinning up the drive more than a few times. No SQL servers either. Apologies if my english isn't the best, I'm still trying to improve on it.

  • Vim: Context sensitive code completion for PHP

    - by eddy147
Vim gives me too much options when I use code completion. In a class, and type $class- it gives me about a zillion options, so not only from the class itself but also from php, all globals ever created, in short: a mess. I only want to have the options from the class itself (or the parent subtype class it extends from), so context or scope sensitive code completion, just like Netbeans for example. How can I do that? My current configuration is this: I am using ctags, and created 1 ctags file for our (big) application in the root. This is the .ctags file I used to create the ctags file: -R -h ".php" --exclude=.svn --languages=+PHP,-JavaScript --tag-relative=yes --regex-PHP=/abstract\s+class\s+([^ ]+)/\1/c/ --regex-PHP=/interface\s+([^ ]+)/\1/c/ --regex-PHP=/(public\s+|static\s+|protected\s+|private\s+)\$([^ \t=]+)/\2/p/ --regex-PHP=/const\s+([^ \t=]+)/\1/d/ --regex-PHP=/final\s+(public\s+|static\s+|abstract\s+|protected\s+|private\s+)function\s+\&?\s*([^ (]+)/\2/f/ --PHP-kinds=+cdf --fields=+iaS This is the .vimrc file: " autocomplete funcs and identifiers for languages autocmd FileType php set omnifunc=phpcomplete#CompletePHP autocmd FileType python set omnifunc=pythoncomplete#Complete autocmd FileType javascript set omnifunc=javascriptcomplete#CompleteJS autocmd FileType html set omnifunc=htmlcomplete#CompleteTags autocmd FileType css set omnifunc=csscomplete#CompleteCSS autocmd FileType xml set omnifunc=xmlcomplete#CompleteTags autocmd FileType php set omnifunc=phpcomplete#CompletePHP autocmd FileType c set omnifunc=ccomplete#Complete " exuberant ctags " the magic is the ';' at end. it will make vim tags file search go up from current directory until it finds one. set tags=projectrootdir/tags; map <F8> :!ctags " TagList " :tag getUser => Jump to getUser method " :tn (or tnext) => go to next search result " :tp (or tprev) => to to previous search result " :ts (or tselect) => List the current tags " => Go back to last tag location " +Left click => Go to definition of a method " More info: " http://vimdoc.sourceforge.net/htmldoc/tagsrch.html (official documentation) " http://www.vim.org/tips/tip.php?tip_id=94 (a vim tip) let Tlist_Ctags_Cmd = "~/bin/ctags" let Tlist_WinWidth = 50 map <F4> :TlistToggle<cr> "see http://vim.wikia.com/wiki/Make_Vim_completion_popup_menu_work_just_like_in_an_IDE " will change the 'completeopt' option so that Vim's popup menu doesn't select the first completion item, but rather just inserts the longest common text of all matches :set completeopt=longest, menuone " will change the behavior of the <Enter> key when the popup menu is visible. In that case the Enter key will simply select the highlighted menu item, just as <C-Y> does :inoremap <expr> <CR> pumvisible() ? "\<C-y>" : "\<C-g>u\<CR>" " inoremap <expr> <C-n> pumvisible() ? '<C-n>' : \ '<C-n><C-r>=pumvisible() ? "\<lt>Down>" : ""<CR>' inoremap <expr> <M-,> pumvisible() ? '<C-n>' : \ '<C-x><C-o><C-n><C-p><C-r>=pumvisible() ? "\<lt>Down>" : ""<CR>'
