• Updating and Editing Google Contacts - Ruby Gem

  I'm attempting to interact with the Google contacts API through Rails via and oauth-plugin. I need to retrieve and update Google contacts. I know that the portablecontacts gem will retrieve contacts, but does not allow for adding or updating. I was wondering if anyone knew of a gem that will handle this type of interaction. If not what would be the best method to implement a gem that would make it easier to handle the responses.

  I am planning to start a site in which the content is generated by the users. What is the best method to save the data submitted by user? Is the method of saving the data in phpmyadmin database a good idea considering that the data submitted by users is large similar to a blog post. • two UserControls, one page, need to notify each other of updates

  I've got a user control thats used twice on the same page, each have the ability to be updated (a dropdown list gets a new item) and I'm not sure what might be the best way to handle this. One concern - this is an older system (~4+ years, datasets, .net2) and it is amazingly brittle. I did manage to have it run on 3.5 with no problems, but I've had a few run-ins with the javascript validation (~300 lines per page) throwing up all over the place when I change/add/modify controls in the parent.

  Any ideas how i can best drive a USB POS printer from c#. POS printers are usually serial, TCP/IP or USB based. I know how to accomplish serial and TCP/IP but have no idea about communications through USB in C#. I know that there is a layer available from Microsoft called POS.NET, but I want to try and avoid using this. Any ideas or any C# libraries that people can recomend would be really appreciated.   What is the best way to take a string of html and turn it in to something useful? Essentially if i take a url and go get the html from that url in .net i get a response but this would come in the form of either a file or stream or string. What if i want an actual document or something I can crawl like an xmldocument object? I have some thoughts and an already implemented solution on this but I am interested to see what the community thinks about this.

  I suppose this question is more general than working with COM components. I have a .NET client written in C# and COM component written in pure Win32 API. Client side uses this component to perform some actions. How to know on the client that component did its job? I think it may be socket/pipe, with component writing to it about results, and client reading from it displaying progress to the user. What is the best way to do this?
