    Hi, Can any one give me the syntax to truncate a table in IBM DB2. I m running the following command: truncate table tableName immediate; The eror is DB2 SQL Error: SQLCODE=-104, SQLSTATE=42601, SQLERRMC=table;truncate ;JOIN , DRIVER=3.50.152 Message: An unexpected token "table" was found following "truncate ". Expected tokens may include: "JOIN "..   • A good way in Visual Studio to have user entered time frame?

    Hi, Does anyone know of a good way to have a user enter an amount of time (hours and minutes) using visual studio controls? At the moment i have two numeric up downs, one for time and one for minutes that i then parse to create a timespan. The only other idea i have is a text box that a user can enter a "00:00" time in, and validate the input. Both of these ways seem a bit bad (in UI terms) though. Any ideas? Thanks

  • Search inside of text files

    So here is the situation. I currently run a mail server for my small non-profit company. My mail server (Merak Mail Server) keeps logs in .log files and mail as .tmp files. Essentially these are just text files that are kept on the server. Problem is that when I put text into the "Containing text" field on Windows Explorer, it always misses the files and tells me no results returned. Then when I search the files one by one (painful at best), I find the files I need. Do I not understand the search feature well enough, or maybe I have it indexing wrong. I really don't care what I need to use to search the files, even a third-party app is fine with me, I just want to type an email address into a box and search all of my log files or email files and find out which one I am looking for. It can be Windows Search or something else, as long as I can find a way to get the job done I will be happy. Pay solutions are fine as well. Thanks everyone in advance.

I can see that with a single thread it is taking a hell lot of time to move the files one by one. Multiple threads is improving the copy performance, but I don't know what should be the exact number of threads. I am using Java executor service to create the thread pool.

  • Automate creation of Windows startup script?

    Is there a good way to automate installing local startup (rather than login) scripts in Windows XP and Windows 7, via the command line, WMI, or otherwise (even COM or Win32 if it comes to that)? I need to setup a local startup script on a large number of computers, and unfortunately, Active Directory is absolutely not an option. I would like to write a script or small program that I can run on each computer to perform the startup script installation in order to save myself a lot of error-prone point-and-click manual labor. I see that when one uses gpedit.msc to create a local startup script, information about the script gets stored in the registry here: HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System\Scripts\Startup However, if you create such a script and then delete its registry key, the script will remain listed in the local Group Policy editor; as is so often the case in Windows, apparently there is more going on there than meets the eye. This leads me to question whether it's safe to manually add subkeys for new startup scripts here (I wouldn't want my script to be overwritten by later changes made using the local Group Policy editor, for instance)... Another option that's occurred to me is to create an item in the Task Scheduler configured to run at system startup. However, my concerns there are twofold: Can this be automated any more easily? For instance, the at command doesn't appear to let you schedule a task for system startup, and WMI's Win32_ScheduledJob interface looks unreliable (it fails to show any of my currently scheduled tasks, for one thing). Would I be able to prevent users from logging in until the scheduled startup task is completed, as can be done with "normal" Windows startup scripts?     I am evaluating the use of code generation for my flight simulation project. More specifically there is a requirement to allow "the average engineer" (no offense I am one myself) to define the differential equations that describe the dynamic system in a more natural syntax than C++ provides. The idea is to devise a abstract descriptor language that can be easily understood and edited to generate C++ code from. This descriptor is supplied by the modeling engineer and used by the ones implementing and maintaining the simulation evironment to generate code. I've got something like this in mind: model Aircraft has state x1, x2; state x3; input double : u; input bool : flag1, flag2; algebraic double : x1x2; model Engine : tw1, tw2; model Gear : gear; model ISA : isa; trim routine HorizontalFight; trim routine OnGround, General; constant double : c1, c2; constant int : ci1; begin differential equations x1' = x1 + 2.*x2; x2' = x2 + x1x2; begin algebraic equations x1x2 = x1*x2 + x1'; end model It is important to retain the flexibility of the C language thus the descriptor language is meant to only define certain parts of the definition and implementation of the model class. This way one enigneer provides the model in from of the descriptor language as examplified above and the maintenance enigneer will add all the code to read parameters from files, start/stop/pause the execution of the simulation and how a concrete object gets instatiated. My first though is to either generate two files from the descriptor file: one .h file containing declarations and one .cpp file containing the implementation of certain functions.   • Computer resetting semi-randomly

    Hi, I'm having a problem with my desktop whereby it sometimes resets itself semi-randomly. For example, I'll switch it on, it'll boot an OS and shortly after getting to the desktop it will immediately reset with no warning. The time isn't consistent - sometimes it does it before reaching login. I'm pretty sure it's not an OS thing; have tried Ubuntu and a Windows install and both exhibit it. It also doesn't appear to be heat-related because sometimes it appears to be able to "get past" it and will then run stably even under load; if anything it seems to be worse from a cold start. My gut feeling is some kind of power issue but I'm clutching at straws a little. Any suggestions on how I could go about testing it or trying to narrow the problem down would be appreciated. The machine is four years old now so while I can replace components if needed, it's not worth enough that I'm comfortable buying new parts without being pretty confident that they'll fix the problem. Thanks in advance for any help :) Edit: Okay, the motherboard is a MSI K8N SLI; CPU is an Athlon64 X2 4200+. Has one video card, a GeForce 7800GT. 1GB RAM, not sure of brand; 3 hard drives, two SATA and one PATA. Flashed motherboard to latest BIOS some time ago. Edit the Second: I thought I'd narrowed it down to the PSU for a while, but then it recurred again. I ended up pulling everything out but CPU, RAM and motherboard and it still seems to be stuffed (if anything, it's gotten worse in the last couple of days). I assume it's one of those three components, but the machine is old enough that I don't really want to spend money replacing any of them. So thanks for everyone's suggestions; much appreciated!

  • Do you known a reputable backup software that can capture ONLY file system structure + attributes, WITHOUT file content

    Is there, on Windows, a reputable backup software out there capable of capturing ONLY a file system's directory and file structure, along with each item's attributes, WITHOUT capturing the actual file content (all files should be zero-length in the backup). I thoroughly searched the web for a solution and wasn't able to find one. Scenario when this would be very useful: I have a large drive with a huge amount of files. If the drive dies, I don't care so much about the content in these files (I can always download this content again from the Internet at any time) but I do care HUGELY about the names of the files that were on it, possibly also about their MD5 hashes and other classic file attributes (especially created-date / modified-date). The functionality I need is present to an extent in "media"/file cataloging software (i.e. whereisit) and, to a lesser extent, in a Total Commander set of extensions (DiskDir, DiskDirExtended). The huge drawback with cataloging software is that it's not designed to store previous versions of each item (AFAIK) and, most importantly, it has very weak content backup capabilities. I managed to think of a hack but I hope there's some backup software out there that already has this capability and I just failed to find it, thus this question. The hack: RoboCopy could be used with /CREATE (CREATE directory tree and zero-length files only) or /COPY (what to COPY for files) without the D=Data flag, to clone a directory structure into one where all files are zero-length but have the desired attributes. Then I would backup the cloned directory structure with a reputable backup software. I would really love to avoid a hack like this one, if possible. Thanks, Bogdan

  • How can I model the data in a multi-language data editor in WPF with MVVM?

    Are there any good practices to follow when designing a model/ViewModel to represent data in an app that will view/edit that data in multiple languages? Our top-level class--let's call it Course--contains several collection properties, say Books and TopicsCovered, which each might have a collection property among its data. For example, the data needs to represent course1.Books.First().Title in different languages, and course1.TopicsCovered.First().Name in different languages. We want a app that can edit any of the data for one given course in any of the available languages--as well as edit non-language-specific data, perhaps the Author of a Book (i.e. course1.Books.First().Author). We are having trouble figuring out how best to set up the model to enable binding in the XAML view. For example, do we replace (in the single-language model) each String with a collection of LanguageSpecificString instances? So to get the author in the current language: course1.Books.First().Author.Where(Function(a) a.Language = CurrentLanguage).SingleOrDefault If we do that, we cannot easily bind to any value in one given language, only to the collection of language values such as in an ItemsControl. <TextBox Text={Binding Author.???} /> <!-- no way to bind to the current language author --> Do we replace the top-level Course class with a collection of language-specific Courses? So to get the author in the current language: course1.GetLanguage(CurrentLanguage).Books.First.Author If we do that, we can only easily work with one language at a time; we might want a view to show one language and let the user edit the other. <TextBox Text={Binding Author} /> <!-- good --> <TextBlock Text={Binding ??? } /> <!-- no way to bind to the other language author --> Also, that has the disadvantage of not representing language-neutral data as such; every property (such as Author) would seem to be in multiple languages. Even non-string properties would be in multiple languages. Is there an option in between those two? Is there another way that we aren't thinking of? I realize this is somewhat vague, but it would seem to be a somewhat common problem to design for. Note: This is not a question about providing a multilingual UI, but rather about actually editing multi-language data in a flexible way.

  • filter / directing URLs coming onto a network

    Hi all, I an not sure if this is possible or not but what i would like to do is as follows: I have one IP address (dynamic using zoneedit.com to keep it upto date). I have one webserver running my main site which is an Ubuntu machine running Apache. I also have a windows 2008 server running another site. Just to confuse things I also run part of my Apache site on the windows server, currently using proxypassreverse to get the information from it. So it looks something like this: IP 1.2.3.4 maps to mydomain.com as well as myotherdomain.com All requests that come into port 80 are forwarded to the Apache box and I use Virtualhost settings to proxy the windows sites where needed. so mydomain.com is an Apache site mydomain.com/mywindowssection is the Apache server using proxypassreverse to get part of the site from the Windows server myotherdomain.com uses Apache and proxypassreverse to get the whole site. What I would like to be able to do is forward all http requests that come into my network to one machine that figures out who should be serving that content. so: mydomain.com would go to the Apache machine myotherdomain.com would go the windows machine. I am just in the process of setting up an Astaro gateway (never done this before so taking a while to configure) as my firewall, dns, dhcp etc, don't know if this can handle it. I have the capacity to run a VM on the network if a seperate box would be needed for this process as well. Thanks for any and all feedback. Jon
