  • an asp.net routing issue

    - by Adam Right
    my route implementation on Global.asax protected void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e) { this.intRoutes(RouteTable.Routes); } void intRoutes(RouteCollection Rts) { Rts.MapPageRoute("search", "{language}/{page}", "~/search.aspx"); Rts.MapPageRoute("category", "{language}/{name}/{no}/{categoryname}", "~/category.aspx"); Rts.MapPageRoute("product", "{language}/{name}/{no}/{productname}", "~/product.aspx"); } the problem is; if i use product routing on a hyperlink, like as follows; <asp:HyperLink ID="hyProduct" NavigateUrl='<%#HttpUtility.UrlDecode(((Page)HttpContext.Current.Handler).GetRouteUrl("product", new{ language=getUIFromHelper(),name=getNameFromHelper(),no=Eval("code"),productname=getProductNameFromHelper(Eval("name"))})) %>' runat="server" Text="something" /> everything goes fine, the link is written as expected like /en/products/06.008.001.150.0510/davis-fish-seeker-green but when i click that link the category.aspx page runs insted of product.aspx. am i missing out something ?

  • Help me convert .NET 1.1 Xml validation code to .NET 2.0 please.

    - by Hamish Grubijan
    It would be fantastic if you could help me rid of these warnings below. I have not been able to find a good document. Since the warnings are concentrated in just the private void ValidateConfiguration( XmlNode section ) section, hopefully this is not terribly hard to answer, if you have encountered this before. Thanks! 'System.Configuration.ConfigurationException.ConfigurationException(string)' is obsolete: 'This class is obsolete, to create a new exception create a System.Configuration!System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException' 'System.Xml.XmlValidatingReader' is obsolete: 'Use XmlReader created by XmlReader.Create() method using appropriate XmlReaderSettings instead. http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=14202' private void ValidateConfiguration( XmlNode section ) { // throw if there is no configuration node. if( null == section ) { throw new ConfigurationException("The configuration section passed within the ... class was null ... there must be a configuration file defined.", section ); } //Validate the document using a schema XmlValidatingReader vreader = new XmlValidatingReader( new XmlTextReader( new StringReader( section.OuterXml ) ) ); // open stream on Resources; the XSD is set as an "embedded resource" so Resource can open a stream on it using (Stream xsdFile = XYZ.GetStream("ABC.xsd")) using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(xsdFile)) { vreader.ValidationEventHandler += new ValidationEventHandler(ValidationCallBack); vreader.Schemas.Add(XmlSchema.Read(new XmlTextReader(sr), null)); vreader.ValidationType = ValidationType.Schema; // Validate the document while (vreader.Read()) { } if (!_isValidDocument) { _schemaErrors = _sb.ToString(); throw new ConfigurationException("XML Document not valid"); } } } // Does not cause warnings. private void ValidationCallBack( object sender, ValidationEventArgs args ) { // check what KIND of problem the schema validation reader has; // on FX 1.0, it gives a warning for "<xs:any...skip" sections. Don't worry about those, only set validation false // for real errors if( args.Severity == XmlSeverityType.Error ) { _isValidDocument = false; _sb.Append( args.Message + Environment.NewLine ); } }

  • jQuery replacing an image inside a .net datalist

    - by user359409
    (submit said I was trying to post an image so I've changed image everywhere to ix I am trying to get jQuery to replace an ix inside a datalist. The original ix is the thumbnail ix of a product on a category page. The small ix I am clicking on are swatch ix for the different colors of a product. I can get it to work using a div tag around the ix tag inside the ItemTemplate. I don't need to use a div tag if I can get the imagesx to swap- I was just using it because that is sample code I found and it works for the first product in the category. <asp:HyperLink ID="ProductNav" runat="server" NavigateUrl='<%#Eval("NavigateUrl") %>'> <div id="ladiv" runat="server"> <asp:Ixx runat="server" ID="ProdThumb" /> </div> </asp:HyperLink> <asp:PlaceHolder ID="phSwatches" runat="server"></asp:PlaceHolder> The ProdThumb ix is added from the code behind and the swatches are added from the code behind swatches.Controls.Add(new LiteralControl("<table><tr>")); foreach(OptionChoice optionChoice in option.Choices) { string swatchThumbnail = string.Format("<ix ID=\"{0}\" src=\"{1}\" border=\"0\" class=\"{2}\" />","swatch" + optionChoice.OptionChoiceId.ToString(), ResolveUrl(optionChoice.ThumbnailUrl),"imgthumb"); swatches.Controls.Add(new LiteralControl("<td>")); swatches.Controls.Add(new LiteralControl(swatchThumbnail)); swatches.Controls.Add(new LiteralControl("</td>")); } swatches.Controls.Add(new LiteralControl("</tr></table>")); prodThumb.IxUrl = product.ThumbnailUrl; prodThumb.AlternateText = product.ThumbnailAltText; prodThumb.CssClass = "Thumbnail"; The jQuery is: $(function() { $("ix.imgthumb").click(function(e) { var t = $(this); var newImg = ''; $('#ladiv') .html($(newImg) ); }); }); </script> Both images are named similar, except the swatch contains "sws" and the larger one is the some only with "swl". I have spent several days searching but am not able to get it to work. If I try something like $("#<%=ladiv.ClientID %") the code can't find it. I appreciate any help.

  • ASP.NET MVC - how to make users confirm the delete

    - by H4mm3rHead
    He, I have this page where i have checkboxes next to every item in a table, and want to allow the user to select some of them and press my delete button. I just cant come up with the jquery for making the confirm window and submitting only if 'yes' is pushed - this is my page <%Html.BeginForm(); %> <%List<ShopLandCore.Model.SLGroup> groups = (List<ShopLandCore.Model.SLGroup>)Model; %> <%Html.RenderPartial("AdminWorkHeader"); %> <table width="100%" id="ListTable" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td colspan="5" class="heading"> <input type="submit" name="closeall" value="Close selected" /> <input type="submit" name="deleteall" value="Delete selected" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <th width="20px"> </th> <th> Name </th> <th> Description </th> <th width="150px"> Created </th> <th width="150px"> Closed </th> </tr> <%foreach (ShopLandCore.Model.SLGroup g in groups) { %> <tr> <td> <%=Html.CheckBox(g.Id.ToString()) %> </td> <td> <%=g.Name %> </td> <td> <%=g.Description %> </td> <td> <%=g.Created %> </td> <td> <%=g.Closed %> </td> </tr> <%} %> </table> <%Html.EndForm(); %> Please note that its only for the delete that it should confirm, and not necessarily for the close button.

  • How can I specify a single .config file for multiple EXE projects in .NET

    - by Russ
    I have a project that I am breaking up into multiple .exe projects. I still plan on publishing them, using click once, into the same location at the same time, and I would like to use the same config file. I have added the app.config to each project using the "Add link" option in Visual Studio, which is great for debugging, but in production, when I compile each exe project, the app.config is not copied into the "master project"'s bin folder. example: master.exe with master.exe.config master.exe may launch order.exe based on user settings master.exe may launch returns.exe based on user settings master, order, and returns will all reside in the same folder, and should share a single config file.

  • ASP NET forms Authorization: how to reduce duration?

    - by eddo
    I've got a web page which is implementing cookie based ASPNET Forms Authentication. Once the user has logged in the page, he can edit some information using a form which is created using a partialview and returned to him as a dialog for editing. The action linked to the partial view is decorated as follows: [HttpGet] [OutputCache(Duration = 0, VaryByParam = "None")] [Authorize(Roles = "test")] public ActionResult changeTripInfo(int tripID, bool ovride=false) { ... } The problem i am experiencing is the latency between the request and the time when the dialog is shown to the user: time ranges between 800 and 1100 ms which is not justified by the complexity of the form. Investigating with Glimpse turns out that the time to process the AuthorizeAttribute (see snip) sums up to at least 650 ms which is troubling me. Looking at the Sql server log, the call which checks the user roles takes, as expected, virtually nothing (duration 0). How can I reduce this time? Am I missing some optimization?

  • how to protect an imported win32 dll into a .net application from memory issues

    - by Eric
    I have a c# application that needs to use a legacy win32 dll. The dll is almost its own app, it has dialogs, operations with hardware, etc. When this dll is imported and used, there are a couple of problems that occur: Dragging a dialog (not a windows system dialog, but one created by the dll) across the managed code app causes the UI to not repaint. Further it generates a system out of memory exception from various ui controls. The performance is incredibly slow. There seems to be no way to unload the dll so the memory never gets cleaned up. When we close our managed app, we get another memory exception. At the moment we import each method call as such: [DllImport("dllname.dll", EntryPoint = "MethodName", SetLastError = true, CharSet = CharSet.Auto, ExactSpelling = true, CallingConvention = CallingConvention.StdCall)]

  • Need help profiling .NET caching extension method.

    - by rockinthesixstring
    I've got the following extension Public Module CacheExtensions Sub New() End Sub Private sync As New Object() Public Const DefaultCacheExpiration As Integer = 1200 ''# 20 minutes <Extension()> Public Function GetOrStore(Of T)(ByVal cache As Cache, ByVal key As String, ByVal generator As Func(Of T)) As T Return cache.GetOrStore(key, If(generator IsNot Nothing, generator(), Nothing), DefaultCacheExpiration) End Function <Extension()> Public Function GetOrStore(Of T)(ByVal cache As Cache, ByVal key As String, ByVal generator As Func(Of T), ByVal expireInSeconds As Double) As T Return cache.GetOrStore(key, If(generator IsNot Nothing, generator(), Nothing), expireInSeconds) End Function <Extension()> Public Function GetOrStore(Of T)(ByVal cache As Cache, ByVal key As String, ByVal obj As T) As T Return cache.GetOrStore(key, obj, DefaultCacheExpiration) End Function <Extension()> Public Function GetOrStore(Of T)(ByVal cache As Cache, ByVal key As String, ByVal obj As T, ByVal expireInSeconds As Double) As T Dim result = cache(key) If result Is Nothing Then SyncLock sync If result Is Nothing Then result = If(obj IsNot Nothing, obj, Nothing) cache.Insert(key, result, Nothing, DateTime.Now.AddSeconds(expireInSeconds), cache.NoSlidingExpiration) End If End SyncLock End If Return DirectCast(result, T) End Function End Module From here, I'm using the extension is a TagService to get a list of tags Public Function GetTagNames() As List(Of String) Implements Domain.ITagService.GetTags ''# We're not using a dynamic Cache key because the list of TagNames ''# will persist across all users in all regions. Return HttpRuntime.Cache.GetOrStore(Of List(Of String))("TagNamesOnly", Function() _TagRepository.Read().Select(Function(t) t.Name).OrderBy(Function(t) t).ToList()) End Function All of this is pretty much straight forward except when I put a breakpoint on _TagRepository.Read(). The problem is that it is getting called on every request, when I thought that it is only to be called when Result Is Nothing Am I missing something here?

  • WCF publish/subscribe service, and ASP.NET MVC client

    - by d3j4vu
    I managed to develop a custom WCF service, using the publish / subscribe model, and hosted inside a managed windows service. Everything's working. I developed an interface as the service contract implementing a method definition marked as a non-one way operation contract (OperationContract(IsOneWay = false)]. This, to make possible returns an instance of a custom class derived from System.Web.Mvc.ActionResult. In the MVC app, event fires ok. It wraps inside an action method, (just the one defined in the interface), but, and this is my current problem, i believe that something relative to the execution context of the windows service (and the hosted wcf counterpart) blocks the execution of the action method in the MVC app. This is what i have until now (some pieces ripped off just to be more clear): /// Method definition for the contract's service. Maps to a MVC ActionMethod. [OperationContract(IsOneWay = false)] ActionResult Imagen(string data, CustomActionResult result); The class to hold an ActionResult derived class instance: public class ServiceEventArgsMvc : ServiceEventArgs { /// <summary> /// /// </summary> public CustomActionResult Result { get; set; } } And the code in the MVC client app: /// <summary> /// Just a simple class to hold an abstract ActionResult derived class instance. /// </summary> public ActionResult Image(string data, CustomActionResult result) { ViewData["data"] = data; return View(); } Ok. ActionMethod sucessfully executes...but when it's done (and usually expected obtain a reditection to a View named Image, like the action method), the WCF service throws a Timeout exception, making clear that he's still waiting for a response from the MVC client. The response never arrives, so the MVC app never finish his work (redirect to the "Image" view as expected). Any ideas?. Guess i'm missing something very simple, but i don't know what it could be. This is drivin' me nuts.

  • JsonIgnore attributes not working in ASP.NET?

    - by Geoffrey
    I've got an object in my project with circular references. I've put [JsonIgnore] above the field like so: [JsonIgnore] public virtual Foobar ChildObject { get; set; } I'm still getting circular reference errors when I serialize the object. The only fields that do not have JsonIgnore are string fields and should not cause this. Is there something else I need to do to get JsonIgnore to work? Thanks!

  • asp.net mvc 2 multiple partial view

    - by 303
    Hey Guys, I have a contoller that renders 3 different views. But I also have a common part (div) for every view. I thought that I can create an UserControl with own controller and include that control on my views (New controller and view as controll). How should I use that UserControl? Should it be a partial view? Or different approach - can I have multiple partial views on one page? I've been searching the web for the last view days and haven't found working solution that suits me. Also I want to use Strongly Typed views/data. Cheers

  • Browser not handling exception from AJAX panel, ASP.NET c#

    - by Grant
    Hi, i am having trouble catching errors in an AJAX panel. Even when i throw an exception in the c# code behind the front end completely ignores it. Here is the code i have setup, can anyone see why? I ideally want to show a js alert window on error. Code Behind: protected void btnX_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { throw new ApplicationException("test"); } protected void ScriptManager_AsyncPostBackError(object sender, AsyncPostBackErrorEventArgs e) { ScriptManager.AsyncPostBackErrorMessage = e.Exception.Message; } Markup: <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_endRequest(EndRequestHandler); function EndRequestHandler(sender, e) { window.alert(e.get_error().name); } </script> <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager" runat="server" AllowCustomErrorsRedirect="true" OnAsyncPostBackError="ScriptManager_AsyncPostBackError" />

  • ASP .NET: Cannot call Page WebMethod using jQuery

    - by John
    I created a WebMethod in the code-behind file of my page as such: [System.Web.Services.WebMethod()] public static string Test() { return "TEST"; } I created the following HTML page to test it out: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js"/></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function test() { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://localhost/TestApp/TestPage.aspx/Test", data: "{}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "text", success: function(msg) { alert(msg.d); } }); } </script> </head> <body> <button onclick="test();">Click Me</button> </body> </html> When I click the button, the AJAX fires off, but nothing is returned. When I debug my code, the method Test() doesn't even get called. Any ideas?

  • CruiseControl.NET merge nunit and nant output

    - by JK
    I've just started using ccnet so I'm having trouble understanding why the merging of nant and nunit outputs are not working. I've setup my ccnet.config with typical values as found on google: <merge> <files> <file>D:\ccnet\path1\nant-results.xml</file> <file>D:\ccnet\path2\TestResult.xml</file> </files> </merge> <xmllogger /> Nant and ccnet are half working: if I deliberately put in a code error, then ccnet will say build failed. The same happens if I deliberately put in a failing test, ccnet will say build failed. But the ViewBuildReport.aspx page does not show any of the output from nant or nunit. Obviously I must be missing something, but I don't know what, any ideas? Thanks, JK
