• mailto: anchor links unloading html5 video in Chrome

  I have a very simple page with a <video> tag and an email anchor link: http://jsfiddle.net/6GquX/3/ Clicking the email link in Chrome (OS X 10.8 + Win7, 23.0.1271.97) invokes the beforeunloadchange event and causes the video to unload, which isn't the desired outcome. Curiously enough, if I let the video buffer a bit and then click the email link, the video keeps playing and doesn't unload. To my knowledge this only occurs in Chrome and I'm truly at a loss. Visiting any HTML5 video player site (videojs, flowplayer etc), starting a HTML5 video and then immediately simulating an email click with document.location.href = "mailto:[email protected]" in the dev console yields the same error. However, I'm inclined to think it's the way in which the video has been encoded as I'm unable to recreate the above with a video downloaded from YouTube's HTML5 player: http://jsfiddle.net/6GquX/4/ (source) 1. Is it possible that YouTube are encoding their videos in a particular way to combat this? 2. Are there any strategies / hacks I can employ to get around this?

• Adobe popping out of the browser

  Hi, Im building a web application that displays a xfdf document. When we are testing in adobe 5 and we can't stop adobe opening outside the webpage. The user clicks the report and it should open in the browser but instead it opens in adobe it appears to work in everything but adobe 5. We have previously done this with out any problems. Any ideas? • Change jQuery slider option dynamically based on window width

  I would like to change a jQuery option based on window width (on load as well as on resize). I've found solutions close to what I need, but I don't understand jQuery or javascript enough to customize them for my needs. • Absolutely positioned element moved by margin of another element

  Here is my jsFiddle for the following question: http://jsfiddle.net/arelia/Rruxf/ I'd like to have a header that stays at the very top of the body and a footer that stays at the very bottom of the body. I have a content div (position: relative) between the header and footer, and when I set a margin around the div my absolutely positioned header and footer move from their top/bottom positions by the height of that margin (this also happened when I tried setting a margin above and below the paragraphs in the div). In the fiddle you can see that the footer is not attached to the bottom even though it's absolutely positioned (I went ahead and made the header static since static gives the intended result). How do I position the header and footer to the top and bottom of the body and not have the content in the middle move those two elements? If the position: absolute elements are moved out of the flow why would anything affect their position at all? I've tried searching here and Google for "CSS margin affects absolute" and a few other phrases to no avail. I discovered this while playing around with it some more in developer tools: Metrics show the body is the height of the html element minus the amount of one margin (the margin that's still affecting the footer). So, the body must be stretching to the height of the content div since there is nothing else within the document flow within the body to define its height. But that height ends where the content ends instead of after the margin. Shouldn't it include the margin? If I make the height of the body 100%, the footer positions itself to the bottom of the viewport and then stays fixed in that spot when I scroll. Why isn't it attaching itself to the bottom of the body instead of the bottom of the viewport?

• Javascript get image height works in all browsers but firefox...please help?

  So I am fairly new to Javascript (a lot of experience in PHP), but I have this basic script that checks a link that redirects to a URL to see what the image height is. If it is a certain height then it adds one to a variable, otherwise nothing. I would easily do this in PHP but the images are on other servers and not my own so it doesn't work. Anyways, ehre is the script. Let me know if you have any tips. • Effect.toggle and AJAX Calls

  Hi, I am using the following code to capture all the AJAX calls being made from my app, in order to show a busy spinner till the call is completed. It works well when the requests are well spaced out. However, when the request are made in quick successions, some of the AJAX calls do not get registered, or the onCreate and onComplete actions get kicked off at the same time, and more often than not, the busy spinner continues to appear on the screen, after all the calls have successfully completed.   Hi, I am relatively new to jquery and would like to know why the below code wouldn't work. I am trying to access the content from a file residing on my site and not outside. Is it because I have the jquery lib loading from google and not my site? The error message that I get in IE browser is "Access Denied".   How do I mark a method as "returns an instance of the current class" in my phpDoc? In the following example my IDE (Netbeans) will see that setSomething always returns a foo object. But that's not true if I extent the object - it'll return $this, which in the second example is a bar object not a foo object. class foo { protected $_value = null; /** * Set something * * @param string $value the value * @return foo */ public function setSomething($value) { $this->_value = $value; return $this; } } $foo = new foo(); $out = $foo->setSomething(); So fine - setSomething returns a foo - but in the following example, it returns a bar..: class bar extends foo { public function someOtherMethod(){} } $bar = new bar(); $out = $bar->setSomething(); $out->someOtherMethod(); // <-- Here, Netbeans will think $out // is a foo, so doesn't see this other // method in $out's code-completion ... it'd be great to solve this as for me, code completion is a massive speed-boost. • jQuery not working as expected on HTTPS Internet explorer

  When I try to run my code on any other webbrowsers apart from the Internet explorer it works fine. But when I try to run the code on Internet explorer I do get an alert box saying HERE along with an Ok button. but the problem is when I click on that OK button I do not get anything. • JQuery/AJAX: Loading external DIVs using dynamic content

  I need to create a page that will load divs from an external page using Jquery and AJAX. I have come across a few good tutorials, but they are all based on static content, my links and content are generated by PHP. The main tutorial I am basing my code on is from: http://yensdesign.com/2008/12/how-to-load-content-via-ajax-in-jquery/ The exact function i need is as follows: Main page contains a permanent div listing some links containing a parameter. Upon click, link passes parameter to external page. External page filters recordset against parameter and populates div with results. The new div contains a new set of links with new parameters. The external div is loaded underneath the main pages first div. Process can then be repeated creating a chain of divs under each other. The last div in the chain will then direct to a new page collating all the previously used querystrings. I can handle all of the PHP work with populating the divs on the main and external pages.   Hi all, Im writing an app which reads an RSS feed and places items on a map. I need to read the lat and long numbers only from this string: http://www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.co.uk/map.aspx?isTrafficAlert=true&lat=53.647351&lon=-1.933506 .This is contained in link tags Im a bit of a programming noob but im writing this in C#/Silverlight using Linq to XML. • Layering Images & Click to Choose Using Javascript

  So I'm making a gallery of fabrics and backgrounds for letters for a fraternity/sorority store in my college's town. If you don't know what I'm talking about, this is a fabric letter. You can see how it has a white outline (background) and a red inside (foreground). WELL, I want to make it so you can change both the foreground and background, simply by clicking it's similar image. Is there anyway I can add a layer below it, but still make it show at the top of the page? I know I'll have to use photoshop and transparency for both options, thats no problem, but I wanted to make sure I can do this before I start creating 600+ images. I know I can play with z-index and css, but since I'm using wordpress the one example I read about here wasn't working or I didn't completely understand it, and messed up my entire page. [Alloc init] it without self., coz I know this will retain twice.. but after the allocation, I put back the "self." to set the attributes.. My gut feel tells me I am doing wrong, but it works superficially and I found no memory leak in analyze and instruments.. can anyone give my advice? when I use "self." to set text and set background color, does it retain one automatically? • Simple Oracle File repository with folder hierarchy

  I have an application that stores large amount of files (XML and binary) in folder hierarchies. Currently the main method is storing them in file system or using a legacy CMS, which we want to get rid of. The CMS supports Oracle and a customer wants to keep the files in Oracle because of enterprise policies (backup etc.) The question is: Is there a simple implementation of file repository with folder hierarchy for Oracle? What I am looking for is a small .Net component or example code (PL/SQL and/or .Net) that would have the following methods: Create, Delete, Exists Folder CRUD file Move and potentially Copy file or directory Access to files and folders with paths like "/root/folder1/folder2/file.xml" Ability to get all the files and folders in a folder and potentially also the entire directory tree Tree traversal, getting the parent, all children etc. needs to be fast. I need the implementation in .Net, but if it was just the stored procedures, I could create the .Net calling code. I have pointers to generic articles for creating hierarchies in DB, so if I need to do it from scratch, I know where to start. What I am asking here, is there already an implementation that I could take without doing this from scratch? It seems like such a generic requirement... If the answer is a CMS, Document management system or such it should be Open Source or at least quite cheap (some hundreds / server) and it should be possible to deploy it XCopy - hopefully only couple of DLL:s. I do not need - or want - a full featured big CMS with dozens of dlls and especially not an msi-installation. I have tried to google this, but the words "repository", "CMS", "file hierarchy" etc. give so many answers, the searches are pretty much useless. Thanks, OPe

• jquery XML .html() instead of .text() is not displaying?

  I can't seem to figure out this problem. I am trying to get xml to render html tags. The problem I am having using .text() will display but not recognize any html tags. If I use .html() or just call var long2 = $(this).find('long'); nothing will show up in Safari or IE. I have xml paragraph I have text in here that needs bold tags or tags which is why i need html tags in the xml to be recognized.
