  • Django json serialization problem

    I am having difficulty serializing a django object. The problem is that there are foreign keys. I want the serialization to have data from the referenced object, not just the index. For example, I would like the sponsor data field to say "sponsor.last_name, sponsor.first_name" rather than "13".     All, I have an SMS gateway application running on my server that passes incoming SMS messages to a php script. That script writes the data to a text file. Certain aspects of the message can be extracted as variables - for example: Message content: $msgdata Sender: $originator Time: $receivedtime etc... Using the script below I can easily write the message to a text file but it will write the data of every SMS that comes in. I only want to write to a text file if the $originator variable is a certain telephone number (e.g 07123456321) $date = date("d.m.Y H:i:s"); $msgdata = $_REQUEST["msgdata"]; $myFile3 = "test.txt"; $fh = fopen($myFile3, 'a') or die("can't open file"); $stringData3 = "$date - $msgdata\n"; fwrite($fh, $stringData3); fclose($fh); Your assistance is bery much appreciated.   • How to import data from a Lotus private view into Access?

    I'm experimenting with Lotus private views for the first time and I finally made a private view that (more or less) has the data I want. I just need to get it into MS Access. If this was a standard shared view, I'd just fire up the ODBC administrator, and make a DSN to the database using the NotesSQL driver. Been there, done that. But you can't get to private views that way. So, how do I import the data from my private view into Access? (Also, I'm not one of the IT gurus in our company, so I can't just make a view and share it, even if it's hidden)

    I have a Microsoft Access database file connected to VB.NET. In the database table, I have a 'No.' and a 'Status' column. Then I have a textbox where I can input an integer. I also have a button, which will change the data cell in 'Status' where 'No.' = textbox.Text(), when I click it. Let's say I want the 'Status' cell to be changed to "Low".   • Master File Table Corrupt, any way to save data?

    hi. I've used search, but none of the results match my problem so I didn't have to ask separate question. I've Installed Windows 7 RTM recently and since then partitions located on one of my HDDs have gone "crazy". They used to "freeze" and didn't open in explorer for some time (minute or two, usually), sometimes all partitions of the drive wouldn't show until reboot and finally, one of those partitions started showing "disk structure is corrupted and unreadable" warning, it appeared in Disk Management window as RAW and chkdsk showed "mft corrupt". There were no important data on the partition and I didn't have enough time to analyze the problem at the moment, so I just reformatted it and ran antivirus scan on system. After that problem settled for some time, but yesterday the problematic HDD vanished again from the system. After reboot chkdsk identified mft of four partitions corrupt and now they are all in same conditions as the above mentioned one. But the difference is that the files stored in them are extremely important. and just for info: I upgraded from Win7 build 7077, but had some performance issues, so I reformatted system drive and installed fresh Win7 RTM on it. I've downloaded TestDisk and it shows all the partitions marked as NTFS (not RAW) and my knowledge of the program wasn't sufficient to obtain any other info from it :-) and the images that could help describe the problem (sorry, I'm not allowed to post images and more than one hyperlink): http:// img22.imageshack.us/img22/5909/chkdskz.jpg http:// img198.imageshack.us/img198/5576/computeray.jpg I'm interested, is there a way to let me restore the MFT or just access files so I can backup them before reformatting the drive.   • Strategies for generating Zend Cache Keys

    ATM i'm manually generating a cache key based on the method name and parameters, then follow to the normal cache pattern. Any suggestions on how i can implement a clean patterned solution?

  • Entity Framework 4 - Handling very large (1000+ tables) data models?

    We've got a database with over 1000+ tables and would like to consider using EF4 for our data access layer, but I'm concerned about the practical realities of using it for such a large data model. I've seen this question and read about the suggested solutions here and here. These may work, but appear to refer to the first version of the Entity Framework (and are more complex than I'd like). Does anyone know if these solutions have been improved upon in EF4? Or have other suggestions all together? Thanks.

From the main window I can launch sub-windows, but in these sub-windows I can't seem to access the data I collected in the main window. How can I access this data? Or, how can I send this data to the sub-window on creation?   • spring json writes more json then i want

    I am using the json spring view in order to return a simple JSON object from my controller. The problem is that its returning more data then i want. it is returning the validation errors and things inside of my model when all i am doing is this in the controller: Map model = new HashMap() model.put("success", "true"); return new ModelAndView("jsonView", model); If you look at the bottom of this page in the docs it looks like i am getting back data that POST would return. i am not doing a post, i am doing a GET by going directly to the URL with params. How do i get this lib to return just the data in my model?

    For a majority of software developers little time is spent understanding the inner workings of the database management systems (DBMS) they use to store data for their applications.  I personally place myself in this grouping. In my case, I have used various versions of Microsoft’s SQL Server (2000, 2005, and 2008 R2) and just recently learned how valuable they really are when I was preparing to deliver a lecture on "SQL Server 2008 R2, System Databases". Microsoft Sql Server 2008 R2 System DatabasesSo what are system databases in MS SQL Server, and why should I know them? Microsoft uses system databases to support the SQL Server DBMS, much like a developer uses config files or database tables to support an application. These system databases individually provide specific functionality that allows MS SQL Server to function. Name Database File Log File Master master.mdf mastlog.ldf Resource mssqlsystemresource.mdf mssqlsystemresource.ldf Model model.mdf modellog.ldf MSDB msdbdata.mdf msdblog.ldf Distribution distmdl.mdf distmdl.ldf TempDB tempdb.mdf templog.ldf Master DatabaseIf you have used MS SQL Server then you should recognize the Master database especially if you used the SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) to connect to a user created database. MS SQL Server requires the Master database in order for DBMS to start due to the information that it stores. Examples of data stored in the Master database User Logins Linked Servers Configuration information Information on User Databases Resource DatabaseHonestly, until recently I never knew this database even existed until I started to research SQL Server system databases. The reason for this is due largely to the fact that the resource database is hidden to users. In fact, the database files are stored within the Binn folder instead of the standard MS SQL Server database folder path. This database contains all system objects that can be accessed by all other databases.  In short, this database contains all system views and store procedures that appear in all other user databases regarding system information. One of the many benefits to storing system views and store procedures in a single hidden database is the fact it improves upgrading a SQL Server database; not to mention that maintenance is decreased since only one code base has to be mainlined for all of the system views and procedures. Model DatabaseThe Model database as the name implies is the model for all new databases created by users. This allows for predefining default database objects for all new databases within a MS SQL Server instance. For example, if every database created by a user needs to have an “Audit” table when it is  created then defining the “Audit” table in the model will guarantees that the table will be located in every new database create after the model is altered. MSDB DatabaseThe MSDBdatabase is used by SQL Server Agent, SQL Server Database Mail, SQL Server Service Broker, along with SQL Server. The SQL Server Agent uses this database to store job configurations and SQL job schedules along with SQL Alerts, and Operators. In addition, this database also stores all SQL job parameters along with each job’s execution history.  Finally, this database is also used to store database backup and maintenance plans as well as details pertaining to SQL Log shipping if it is being used. Distribution DatabaseThe Distribution database is only used during replication and stores meta data and history information pertaining to the act of replication data. Furthermore, when transactional replication is used this database also stores information regarding each transaction. It is important to note that replication is not turned on by default in MS SQL Server and that the distribution database is hidden from SSMS. Tempdb DatabaseThe Tempdb as the name implies is used to store temporary data and data objects. Examples of this include temp tables and temp store procedures. It is important to note that when using this database all data and data objects are cleared from this database when SQL Server restarts. This database is also used by SQL Server when it is performing some internal operations. Typically, SQL Server uses this database for the purpose of large sort and index operations. Finally, this database is used to store row versions if row versioning or snapsot isolation transactions are being used by SQL Server. Additionally, I would love to hear from others about their experiences using system databases, tables, and objects in a real world environments.

What's the fastest way to find out if a given localNode is a producer for another localnode in the data structure (and not within the same list)? For example, I would like to know that nA (node-17) produces for nC (exists on node-16). But I don't need to know that nB produces for nC, since they exist in the same localNodes list.

  • Can Internet data be used by malware when PC off?

    I have noticed over the last month that my off peak data has been used at a rate of approx 350MB per hour - this has meant that I have gone over my quota and slowed down by my ISP to 256k. There is no one in the house using it (2am-8am is my ISPs off peak hours) at that time. My PC and other wireless devices (ipad and iphone) are turned off. I have changed the wireless password on my modem 3 times and it is now 30 digits long. So I don't think someone else is using my wireless access between 2-8am. It has been suggested by my ISP that I may have malware/spyware on my computer. Sorry for my ignorance, but can malware still run if the PC is off? I did look at my modem's log and followed an IP address to a service called Amazon Simple server Storage. Could this company possibly be the culprit? I am not too tech savvy, so any assistance appreciated. I have run a barrage of spyware cleaning software eg malware bytes; spy bot etc.... Cheers Val

    Is it possible to change or remove http request form inputs in an httpmodule? My goal is to create a security IHttpmodule that will check the request for reasonable values, such as limits on acceptable input and query parameter length, or use the AntiXSS Sanitizer to remove threats, log potential hack attempts, etc. before a request is passed on to a processor. Because this is a cross cutting concern I'd prefer to find a solution that applies to all requests and affects all ways request values could be accessed, Reqest.Form, Action(model), Action(FormCollection), HttpContext.Current.Request.Form, etc. I'm using MVC and have considered creating custom model binders to clean the data before creating the model instance. But that would be application specific, require remembering to register every model binder and only apply to Action(model).

  • Where do current (not HTML5) browsers stand on clipboard support for non-text data?

    I don't really know where the line is between the browser itself and HTML/JS here. But let's say I want to write a web-app where I can copy a chunk of data from MSPaint (select, CTRL+c) and paste it into a web-page in some way... ultimately the point is the data goes to the server without me having to save it as a file first. Where are the problems here - browsers or client-side technologies? For instance if JS can't do it, could Flex/Silverlight? Advice on future technology welcome, but doesn't really answer the question - where are we right now with IE/FF/Chrome and JS/Flex/SL?

  • Error using MVCContrib TestHelper

    While trying to implement the second answer to a previous question, I am receiving an error. I have implemented the methods just as the post shows, and the first three work properly. The fourth one (HomeController_Delete_Action_Handler_Should_Redirect_If_Model_Successfully_Delete) gives this error: Could not find a parameter named 'controller' in the result's Values collection. If I change the code to: actual .AssertActionRedirect() .ToAction("Index"); it works properly, but I don't like the "magic string" in there and prefer to use the lambda method that the other poster used. My controller method looks like this: [HttpPost] public ActionResult Delete(State model) { try { if( model == null ) { return View( model ); } _stateService.Delete( model ); return RedirectToAction("Index"); } catch { return View( model ); } } What am I doing wrong?

  • How and what setting do you use in order to create your customized application with database? [closed]

    I have a homemade project combining with application and database. Today I'm using architecture N-tier. Totally I have 4 project in my solution in VS2010. The fourth project is a transaction layer that connect all the 3 project (one for presentation, business logic and database layer) in order to retrieve data from the database and all the way to present the data in presentation layer. Transaction layer contains entity framework 4 + customized class to carry data to the presentation layer. I always use LINQ to retrieve data in database layer. From my experience, everytime I use LINQ in relation with entity framework it always take a lot of time to retrieve data because what I believe is that my entity framework always has to reload everytime when I want to retrieve any data from the database. My question for you guys is: When you create your application connecting to a database, what architecture do you use? How do you retrieve the data from you application? Is it entity framework etc?

    This is almost certainly a duplicate question, in which case apologies, but I've been searching for around half an hour on SO and can't find the answer here. I'm probably using the wrong search terms, sorry. I have a User model and a Submission model. Each Submission has a ForeignKey field called user_submitted for the User who uploaded it. class Submission(models.Model): uploaded_by = models.ForeignKey('User') class User(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=250 ) My question is pretty simple: how can I get a list of the three users with the most Submissions? I trued creating a num_submissions method on the User model: def num_submissions(self): num_submissions = Submission.objects.filter(uploaded_by=self).count() return num_submissions and then doing: top_users = User.objects.filter(problem_user=False).order_by('num_submissions')[:3] but this fails, as do all the other things I've tried. Can I actually do it using a smart database query? Or should I just do something more hacky in the views file?

ERROR :Object reference not set to an instance of an object. EDIT : Only column is copied to another table, data of that column is not copied to another table.
