• Which terminal emulator do you use? Why?

  I use Rxvt-unicode, only because I don't use a DE (just xmonad). It works fine with what I need (screen, irssi and vim), and it is fairly light. Previously I used eterm, but I found it a bit heavy. So, What's your preference when it comes to terminal emulators? Gnome-terminal? xterm? Why?

  when I install stuff under built-in Administrator - the other users cannot see the changes. for example I changed VS2012 install - added Blend and few other features - and they are invisible under another user - my 'Microsoft account' ... I surely don't want this kind of behavior. Can it be changed? EDIT: I want those apps 'legitimately installed' for all users so I can use Search and see them on my Start screen.

• Create keyboard shortcuts to move/resize windows in Ubuntu

  On windows I have a few AutoHotkey scripts that let me hit various key combinations to resize windows to particular pre-defined sizes, or move them to certain areas of the screen (or both). I'm wondering how I would accomplish this in Ubuntu (gnome). Most of the searches I did for a linux version of autohotkey seemed to be centered around just setting up simple keyboard shortcuts (key combo X launches app Y, etc). I didn't see anything about scripting window size and placement beyond maximize/minimize.

• Add an Excel file as a linked server in SQL 2012

  I'm trying to add a linked server to an Excel 2010 file from SQL Server 2012. Every reference I've found online for doing this is using older versions of SQL Server, and the driver that they tell you to use 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0', is not present in 2012 from what I can tell. Can anyone tell me which provider I need to use and what the product name, data source, and provider string should be? For reference, this is the screen I'm looking at: Thanks.

  I have installed iOS 6 beta, when it was released, in this summer. Yesterday, I have a screen on my iPhone, that activation is required. But, it is impossible to activate, because "servers is unaviable".   Hi, at my work computer, a Dell package computer with Vista Business, I turn it on, it shows the Dell boot screen then just hangs forever. Can get into the Bios and boot settings, but other than that, just hangs. What could cause this? No one's been here over the weekend and it was fine on friday. Thanks.

• "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key" when trying to install Windows on my late

  OS X is 10.6.3. I create the partition with Boot Camp, insert the Windows 7 DVD, reboot, and that's what I get. I'm at loss. When I press alt/option to bring up the boot disk selection screen, the Boot Camp partition isn't an option. I don't know if this is normal or an indication something's not quite right.

The CtrlAltDelete is being intercepted by Windows 8, regardless of whether the remote desktop has focus or is in full screen.   So I just recently installed Ubuntu Linux 10.04 on my desktop machine alongside Windows 7, it booted just fine the first few times but after I went into my Windows 7 recovery software provided by Packard Bell (I did this on accident BTW I exited it straight away and made no changes as far as I know) and re-booted I get this screen: error: no such partition grub rescue>_ PS: I have installed it on a USB stick using the ISO on the official Ubuntu website.

• Why can't I "tear" a maximized Excel 2007 window in Windows 7

  In Windows 7, in most applications, when an application is maximized...I can "tear" the window (grab the title bar and drag) from it's maximized size and off the top of the screen and then I can drag it to wherever...but when Excel is maximized I do not have that functionality...Is there some trick to adding this functionality for Excel 2007...I can do it with Word 2007 so it doesn't appear to be Office itself. The machine is a Dell Latitude D820 with the Nvidia Quadro NVS 110M video card...running the latest video drivers...

  I'm using Gmail (for domains) When viewing the inbox, converations are sorted by their 'last activity', usualy an email. However, when I view all conversations of a single label, by clicking the label in the box left on the screen, mails are ordered by first activity. Can anyone confirm this, and does anyone know how I can change this behaviour?
