• Error displaying a WinForm in Design mode with a custom control on it.

  I have a UserControl that is part of a Class library. I reference this project from my solution. This adds a control from the referenced project to my toolbox. I add tghe control to a form. Everything looks good, I compile all and run. Perfect... But when I close the .frm with the control on it and re-open it, I get this error. The code continues to run. It may have something to do with namespaces. The original namespace was simply "Design" and this was ambiguous and conflicting so i decided to rename it. I think that's when my problems began. To prevent possible data loss before loading the designer, the following errors must be resolved: 2 Errors Ignore and Continue Why am I seeing this page? Could not find type 'Besi.Winforms.HtmlEditor.Editor'. Please make sure that the assembly that contains this type is referenced. • EXT-GWT Portal: How to get all Portlets?

  Hi all this is my first Question here! Im just making my first steps with (Ext-) GWT. I´m testing the Ext-GWT libraries and really: These are absolute great! Now my question: Is it possible to make a kind of "clear-Portal" or "hide all portles" for a defined Portal? Or have i always manually clear the portal like in my example code above? The Listener on this button should hide all portlets in the portal (at this time its the portletUser and portletVehicles) and then add another portlet (for example the portletCountries): portletUser.hide(); portletVehicles.hide(); portal.add(portletCountries, 0) Question from above again ;-) Is it possible to make a kind of "clear-Portal" or "hide all portles" for a defined Portal? • Javascript window.onunload fires off after Page_Load

  I have noticed that window.onunload event fires off AFTER page_load event which makes no sense. This behaviour is creating an issue for me - in my unonload I clear the session, so if the Page_Load first BEFORE onunload, there are errors on the page displayed. I would expect the javascript onunload to fire BEFORE Page_Load....is that the correct assumption? TO CLARIFY: Let's assume I am on page test.aspx, then I click on the link that goes to the same page (say I click on a menu), what I observe is that Page_Load fires first, then onunload fires off. Makes no sense at all.

As I post this problem, I found the bug. It is because of http://lucene.apache.org/java/2_9_2/api/contrib-misc/org/apache/lucene/queryParser/analyzing/AnalyzingQueryParser.html not handling stop words. Is there a substitute? Update: forgot to mention that I need to do a fuzzy search. that is why i am using an AnalyzingQueryParser.

• How to "interleave" two DataTables.

  Take these two lists: List 1 Red Green Blue List 2 Brown Red Blue Purple Orange I'm looking for a way to combine these lists together to produce: List 3 Brown Red Green Blue Purple Orange I think the basic rules are these: 1) Insert on top the list any row falling before the first common row (e.g., Brown comes before the first common row, Red); 2) Insert items between rows if both lists have two items (e.g., List 1 inserts Green between Red and Blue); and 3) Insert rows on the bottom if the there's no "between-ness" found in 2 (e.g., List 2 inserts Orange at the bottom). The lists are stored in a DataTable. I'm guessing I'll have to switch between them while iterating, but I'm having a hard time figuring out a method of combining the rows. • uitableview reloadData issue

  I've been debugging my iphone app and found something interesting. I have a UIViewControllers with TabBarcontroller( 6 tabs). each tab is a UIViewController and it has a UITtableview. The viewDidLoad works and brings the initial data. On of the UITableView has a search bar. After the user touchs presses search some magic happens and I get an array with data. I cant see the new data in the tableview and the [tableView reloadData] has no effect outside viewDidLoad (first time). I can see the array holding the data and the dataSource is set to self. Yet, no displaying of data! so I 've tried [self.tableView reloadData] & [self.tableView setNeedsDisplay] Funny enough, the new data is not being displayed. However if I move the table up or down the cellForRowAtIndexPath is being fired and the first row shows data. can anyone shed some light on this mystery??? if there a [self.view refreshscreen] ??

• ie8 playing funny with list-style-position: inside

  Ok, So problem here... when using list-style-position:inside in IE8 the first like is indented but every line after that is not. So the new lines appear under the bullet. This is fine, but when I use a list with that css applied with an a tag within the li then the text automatically gets pushed to the second line, and the first line is empty. When I remove the a tag from the li then it jumps back up. Any idea on why this might be or is this a bug in the ie8 world or do I just need to double check my css? Any insights would be much appreciated.

• Does Windows Azure support the Application Warm-Up module or something similar?

  We have a Web Role that we are hosting in Windows Azure that uses an old ASMX based Web Reference to contact an external system. The Web Reference proxy code is big enough that instantiating it the first time has a significant cost. We'd like to be able to have this run when the Web Role starts instead of on the first request. I know IIS 7.5 has an Application Warm-Up module that would allow us to achieve this, but I'm having trouble figuring out if something similar exists with hosting on Windows Azure. Thanks, Corey

• How to avoid clobbering files when creating a tar archive

  This question notes that it is possible to overwrite files when creating a tar archive, and I'm trying to see how to avoid that situation. Normally, I'd use file roller, but the version installed is playing up a bit (using 1.1 Gb of memory), and I'm not the system administrator. I looked at --confirmation and --interactive, but that only asks me if I want to add file x to the archive, not whether I want to overwrite an existing file. For example, tar --interactive -czvf innocent_text_file.txt foo* Will ask me about each file, but is perfectly happy to overwrite innocent_text_file.txt Is there any switch that acts like -i for cp? Note I am asking about creating an archive, not extracting an archive. Clarification What I'm worried about is accidentally doing something like this tar -czvf * #Don't do this! which would overwrite the first file listed in the glob. To avoid it, I want tar to complain if the first file mentioned already exists, like cp -i * #Don't do this! would check if it would cause you to overwrite an existing file.

• Help a Python newbie with a Django model inheritance problem

  I'm working on my first real Django project after years of PHP programming, and I am running into a problem with my models. First, I noticed that I was copying and pasting code between the models, and being a diligent OO programmer I decided to make a parent class that the other models could inherit from: class Common(model.Model): self.name = models.CharField(max_length=255) date_created = models.DateTimeField(auto_now_add=True) date_modified = models.DateTimeField(auto_now=True) def __unicode__(self): return self.name class Meta: abstract=True So far so good. Now all my other models extend "Common" and have names and dates like I want. However, I have a class for "Categories" were the name has to be unique. I assume there should be a relatively simple way for me to access the name attribute from Common and make it unique. However, the different methods I have tried to use have all failed. For example: class Category(Common): def __init__(self, *args, **kwargs): self.name.unique=True Spits up the error "Caught an exception while rendering: 'Category' object has no attribute 'name' Can someone point me in the right direction?

I don't know why there is this limitation as the comments are very useful. Imagine if there was a limit of 60 characters for your programs. • Column locking in innodb?

  I know this sounds weird, but apparently one of my columns is locked. select * from table where type_id = 1 and updated_at < '2010-03-14' limit 1; select * from table where type_id = 3 and updated_at < '2010-03-14' limit 10; the first one would not finish running even in a few hours, while the second one completes smoothly. the only difference is the type_id between the 2 queries. a bit of background, the first statement screwed up before which i had to kill manually. • Adding a Layout to bottom of the screen inside a ScrollView in Landscape mode

• Passing string with (accidental) escape character loses character even though it's a raw string

  I have a function with a python doctest that fails because one of the test input strings has a backslash that's treated like an escape character even though I've encoded the string as a raw string.   Hi Guys, I'm not interested in the answer, but I need to be pointed in the right direction Here's problem 79 I first try to analyze the file myself. I've noticed that the number 7 only ever appears as the first digit. This immediately implies that all the numbers containing 7 never overlaps with under numbers (on the left side). Since the questions in project euler always have 1 answer, I believe I'm misunderstanding the question. Do I not have to use all numbers? If I do have to use all numbers, there's many different possible numbers. Where am I going wrong?

  Hi! I was wondering whether there is a way to create an ActionLink or similar, that changes only a few parameters of the actual query, and keeps all the other parameters intact. For example if I'm on an URL like http://example.com/Posts/Index?Page=5&OrderBy=Name&OrderDesc=True I want to change only the Page, or OrderBy parameter and keep all other parameters the same, even those I don't yet know of (like when I want to add a Search parameter or something similar too). The header of my current action looks like this: public ActionResult Index(int? Page, string OrderBy, bool? Desc) and I'm only interested in the values that this controller "eats". I want however that when I extend this action (for example with a string Search parameter) the links should work the same way as before. Here is what I did already: Create a new RouteValueDictionary and fill it with everything from RouteData.Values Problem: This only fills the parameters that are used in the Routing, so all other optional parameters (like Page) to the controller are lost Add everything from HttpContext.Request.QueryString to the previous dictionary This is what I am currently using Problem: It might have some junk stuff, that the Controller didn`t ask for, and it doesn't work if the page was loaded using POST. You also don't have any ModelBindings (but this isn't much of a problem, because we are re-sending everything anyway) Use HttpContext.Request.Params Problem: this has too much junk data which imho one shouldn't add to a RouteValueDictionary that is passed to an ActionLink So the questions: Is there an RVD that has all the data that was passed to the Controller and was used by it? Is this solution good, or are there any caveats I didn't think about (mainly in the context of changing a few query parameters while keeping the others intact)? Is there a way to filter out the "junk" data from the Params object?

• Multi-part question about multi-threading, locks and multi-core processors (multi ^ 3)

  I have a program with two methods. The first method takes two arrays as parameters, and performs an operation in which values from one array are conditionally written into the other, like so: void Blend(int[] dest, int[] src, int offset) { for (int i = 0; i < src.Length; i++) { int rdr = dest[i + offset]; dest[i + offset] = src[i] > rdr? src[i] : rdr; } } The second method creates two separate sets of int arrays and iterates through them such that each array of one set is Blended with each array from the other set, like so: void CrossBlend() { int[][] set1 = new int[150][75000]; // we'll pretend this actually compiles int[][] set2 = new int[25][10000]; // we'll pretend this actually compiles for (int i1 = 0; i1 < set1.Length; i1++) { for (int i2 = 0; i2 < set2.Length; i2++) { Blend(set1[i1], set2[i2], 0); // or any offset, doesn't matter } } } First question: Since this apporoach is an obvious candidate for parallelization, is it intrinsically thread-safe? It seems like no, since I can conceive a scenario (unlikely, I think) where one thread's changes are lost because a different threads ~simultaneous operation. If no, would this: void Blend(int[] dest, int[] src, int offset) { lock (dest) { for (int i = 0; i < src.Length; i++) { int rdr = dest[i + offset]; dest[i + offset] = src[i] > rdr? src[i] : rdr; } } } be an effective fix? Second question: If so, what would be the likely performance cost of using locks like this? I assume that with something like this, if a thread attempts to lock a destination array that is currently locked by another thread, the first thread would block until the lock was released instead of continuing to process something. Also, how much time does it actually take to acquire a lock? Nanosecond scale, or worse than that? Would this be a major issue in something like this? Third question: How would I best approach this problem in a multi-threaded way that would take advantage of multi-core processors (and this is based on the potentially wrong assumption that a multi-threaded solution would not speed up this operation on a single core processor)? I'm guessing that I would want to have one thread running per core, but I don't know if that's true.

If I took the first one what I do would be 100% in PHP - simply dev works on a ecommerce project. If I go with the second one, the projects would be in python which I didn't have too much experiences on and is kinda exited about the new stuff I'm going to learn. But wait, the first offer gives more money(1k plus) and that's why I'm still hesitating and troubling you guys.) If you were me, which one would you pick? I know there could be other factors to be considered like 'which position is closer to your home so you could take good care of your dog', well let's forget about those things for now.
