• Passing an array of structures to an Oracle stored procedure (CFMX)

  I'm looking to write a Oracle stored procedure where I would pass in (from ColdFusion) an array of structures and loop over each iteration to insert the bits and pieces within the structures to the DB., I haven't written this type of procedure / package before. I am planning to do an sp / package similar to what is sketched out in the second reply to this thread: How to pass a array of object to oracle stored procedure Assuming I do, how can I call the procedure from ColdFusion (I'm using MX) and pass in my array? As far as I can see, none of the CF_SQL_Types make sense.

• Checkbox - in Javascript

  I am working on Edit screen where I am pulling out value from db to check if the checkbox is checked or not. If it is unchecked, it should deselect the checkbox and other controls of this checkbox. In my case the js works perfectly fine. That is if my previous screen has checkbox unchecked, edit screen disables all the values for this checkbox. But it still shows the checkbox is checked in UI(though it is actually checked). Something is wrong with my html code. • JMS message received at only one server

  I'm having a problem with a JEE6 application running in a clustered environment using WebSphere ApplicationServer 8. A search index is used for quick search in the UI (using Lucene), which must be re-indexed after new data arrived in the corresponding DB layer. To achieve this we're sending a JMS message to the application, then the search index will be refreshed. The problem is, that the messages only arrives at one of the cluster members. So only there the search index is up to date. At the other servers it remains outdated. How can I achieve that the search index gets updated at all cluster members? Can I receive the message somehow on all servers? Or is there a better way to do this?

MS-Access DB. i do: INSERT INTO Orders (userId) VALUES (123)" what i want to retrieve is orderNumber from that row. its an auto-increment number. so i did: SELECT orderNumber FROM Orders WHERE userId=123 but since it is on the same page, the SELECT returns: Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. • SQL - Break a start/end time into 15 minute records

  I've got a record set that consists of a start and end time in two separate fields: id - Int startTime - DateTime endTime - DateTime I'd like to find a way to query a record and return it as X records based on the number of 15 minute intervals found between the start and end times. For example, let's say I have a record like this: id, StartTime, EndTime 1, 1/1/2010 8:28 AM, 1/1/2010 8:47 AM I would return 3 records, the first would represent the 8:15 interval, #2 for the 8:30 interval and then a 3rd for the 8:45 interval. I realize this could be done using logic in an sproc, but we are trying to remain db neutral as we support multiple database engines.

  i have the following query and its failing in Nhibernate 3 LINQ witha a "Non supported" exception. Its similar to this question but this question was asked over a year ago so i am positive that the answer is out of date. • Getting age from an encrypted DOB field

  Hi all Due to certain compliance requirements, we have to encrypt the user DOB field in the database. We also have another requirement to be able to search a user by his age. Our DB doesn't support transparent encryption so encryption will handled by the application. Any good ideas on how to allow for searching by age? One thought is to save the YOB in a separate column in cleartext and still be able to comply to our compliance requirement. Aside from that, any other design strategy that would help?   in my php code I was asking the user to choose day, month and year from some dropdown fields where values where 1, 2, 3 etc instead of 01, 02, 03. these were then combined to form a string like "YYYY-MM-DD" for the insertion in a db (in a date field). Having missed the initial 0, I thought I was sending strings in the wrong format, eg "YYYY-M-D" or YYYY-MM-D", but then I've noticed they appear in the right format in the database anyway: even if I submitted YYYY-M-D, it appeared as YYYY-MM-DD. is this the normal behaviour of mysql? if so, can i just avoid worrying about changing the code in my application?

• Storing PDFs in MS Access Database using Forms

  I need to store PDF files in an Access database on a shared drive using a form. I figured out how to do this in tables (using the OLE Object field, then just drag-and-drop) but I would like to do this on a Form that has a Save button. Clicking the save button would store the file (not just a link) in the database. Any ideas on how to do this? EDIT: I am using Access 2003, and the DB will be stored on a share drive, so I'm not sure linking to the files will solve the problem.

  Hopefully I can ask this without being confusing. I am a photographer and I am having some of our clients rate pictures that we have taken. We have hundreds of pictures in our portfolio that they may be rating. What I want to do is ask our clients to rate pictures again, but only show them the pictures they haven't yet rated. I currently have three tables: one that stores the actual ratings, one that stores the pictures (or location of each picture), and one that stores the information about the rater. I'm using codeigniter for my db management, if that helps at all. What I have so far is this: "SELECT * FROM ratings LEFT JOIN portfolio ON ratings.portfolioid = portfolio.portfolioid" This will give me a row for each rating, but won't show me where a rating is missing for a picture.   I want to use the OleDB interfaces directly to open a connection to a DB, create a command and executing it (for example using the ICommandText interface). The main thing I can't find is how to create the connection and the command object and how to connect the object that implements the ICommandText to the connection. In ADO I would just use the ActiveConnection property but I want to do this directly on the OleDB interfaces. Also, if anyone can recommend a tutorial to OleDB, ether online or a book, free or not that would be great (but a tutorial and not just a reference / API) I'm using C++ but any native code would be fine.

  Hey I have a problem with my LINQ to Entity model many to mant relation. I am new to both C# and LINQ, so bear with me. I have a model containing pictures and tags, where each picture can have many tags, and each tag can be on many pictures. In the db there is a normal relation table, but in the object model I see it as picture.tags (as a list) and tag.pictures (as a list). A search query contains several tags, and the result of the search is to contain all pictures that are tagged with all the tags (but maybe more) I have searched for. The number of tags to search for is not fixed. How can this best be done?

• Gridview inside UpdatePanel refresh

  I use a GridView to represent data from a table in my DB. the GridView has some template fields whose content are determined before displaying the Grid ( I use the RowDataBound event to determine content of template fields before displaying the GridView). The page displays a list of records from the table records and then, the recording process starts. after the process is over, the template fields should be updated. how do I automatically refresh the GridView after the process is finished ? it should be noted that the GridView is contained within an control and that I continuously poll the server using a Timer control that executes "GridView1.DataBind()" at the server level every 60 seconds. since the GridView is inside an UpdatePanel, calling DataBind() method on it doesn't seem to call the RowDataBound event. How can I solve this ?

E.g. the dev versions would use a throwaway hibernate db, the ref and ops would use stable MySQL deployments. I also used MBeans to configure various other services and rules. Now that I'm using Spring, I'd like the same functionality - deploy the same code, but with different configuration. Crucially, I'd also like Unit Tests to still run with stub services. My question is this - is there a way, in JBoss, to inject configuration with files which live outside of the WAR/EAR, and also include these files in test resources.

  Hi guys, i am familiar with memcached and eager loading, but neither seems to solve the problem i am facing. My main performance lag comes from hundreds of data retrieval calls from the database. The tricky thing is that I do not know which set of users i need to retrieve until i have several steps of computation. I can refactor my code, but i was wondering how you experts handle this situation? The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)" Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? I can create a connection to the db in the database explorer but it doesn't seem to work in code.

  Hi I'm wondering how I can go about this problem I have a DB with a Users Table, and a Followers table. The Followers table contains 2 Columns "FollowerID" and "FollowedID" I have a 1 - * relation in my datamodel between Users.ID -> Followers.FollowerID and Users.ID -> FollowedID How do I in LINQ get a set of users that are following a specific user? I'll express what I'm trying to achieve programatically I can get this far: ctx.Followers.Where(f => f.FollowedID == CurrentUser.ID) so now i have a Followers set where I have the ID of the users that follow the CurrentUser, and I could iterate through this collection and then add users after each iteration to a collection that would be a total USER collection that followed CurrentUser, but isn't there a smarter, or LINQ'er way to do this? • Is it possible to implement a lightweight database using Blackberry Persistance options?

  First I would like to explain why I want to use alternate Blackberry Persistance options rather than a Blackberry database itself, say SQLite. The reason is that the application i'm designing, I want it to be used in all the previous versions of Blackberry rather than just the ones having OS 5.0 or greater. Now, coming back to the actual question, I have got a database that I want to replicate to be used in the Blackberry application. The database has 8 tables and each table has approximately 12 different columns. One of the table has 1000 rows. Now if I was to implement this DB for a Blackberry application , keeping in mind that it will work on all the versions of Blackberry, what would be the best way to implement it?

• Creating a sub site in SharePoint takes a very long time

  Hi, I am working in a MOSS 2007 project and have customized many parts of it. There is a problem in the production server where it takes a very long time (more than 15 minutes, sometimes fails due to timeouts) to create a sub site (even with the built-in site templates). While in the development server, it only takes 1 to 2 minutes. Both servers are having same configuration with 8 cores CPU and 8 GIGs RAM. Both are using separate database servers with the same configuration. The content db size is around 100 GB. More than a hundred subsites are there. What could be the reason why in the other server it will take so much time? Is there any configuration or something else I need to take care? Thanks a lot, all helps are appreciated.

• Does SELECT COUNT(*) work with MySQLi prepared statements?

  I'm working on a test page and am using MySQLi prepared statements in my queries after reading they make my code safe from SQL injection. I have been successful with prepared statements so far with retrieving data from my DB, that all works great. What I want to do now is count the number of galleries within a project using SELECT COUNT(*). That's it. Without using a prepared statement, my old query looked like this: // count number of galleries per project $conn = dbConnect('query'); $galNumb = "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM pj_galleries WHERE project = {$pjInfo['pj_id']}"; $gNumb = $conn->query($galNumb); $row = $gNumb->fetch_row(); $galTotal = $row[0]; But for all my reading and searching the internet, I can not find out the proper way to write this as a prepared statement. I'm no PHP whiz here, and not coding daily isn't helping my skills. If I've missed anything please ask. Many thanks!
