  • Adobe Illustrator Saving to PSD: "Not enough memory to save the file"

    This is on CS5.5 under Windows XP Professional. There seems to be a known issue about saving (large) Adobe Illustrator files to PSD (thoroughly discussed), where the exporter will complain about "Not enough memory to save the file". This happens regardless of the available memory on the computer, and seems to be a limitation in the PSD exporter itself. The only possible solution so far seems to be to copy-n-paste each layer separately from the illustrator file and into the open Photoshop file. We need to keep the layers intact (and not merged), so selecting all the layers at the same time doesn't work. Do anyone have a workaround to the actual, original export issue, or a way to be able to get the layer information into Photoshop without handling each layer separately?

    I am trying to write an IF formula for an order form where a discount is applied depending on the amount of units ordered..... The discounts are: 0 to 24 units - 0 discount 24 to 59 units – 5% discount 60 to 95 units – 10% discount 96 to 131 units – 15% discount 132 to 263 units – 20% discount 264+ units - 30% discount the cell that i am taking the total from is J1028.   • WPA Enterprise Wireless Bridge

    I live in college housing at a university with wifi available. unfortunately, my bedroom(where I'd like to place my PC) gets little to no reception. I'd like to place a router in the strongest spot and rebroadcast. I understand this can be done with DD-WRT/etc, but this particular network is WPA Enterprise with my own personal username/password. I can't find any concrete evidence that I can get my router to act as a repeater for this encryption. I don't currently have a router to test it on, otherwise this would be easy, I just don't want to buy a router if it will be worthless to me. Thanks for your help

  • USB drivers installed twice

    Hello, I have a problem with usb drivers on Windows 7 64bit When I start up my laptop, the mouse I have plugged into a usb port does not work. I have to open the device manager, where there are two "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller" entries. One is marked as faulty (yellow triangle). I uninstall this. Scan for changes. Then it re-appears, but not marked as faulty. And the mouse works. I have to do this every time I reboot. A colleague has the same problem. Both DELL laptops, but different models. I've tried uninstalling all USB controllers, but after a reboot, they are all reinstalled with the faulty entry. This only started happening in the last few weeks. Any help appreciated.   • Disable XP disk check using FAT32

    Right now I'm using Windows XP and Macintosh on my MacBook Pro via Bootcamp. Sometimes my XP would crash and when I restarted it it would have to go through disk check, although it says I can skip it by pushing a key, but this never worked for me. I did a bit of research online on how to disable disk check and found chkntfs /x c: but when I tried this out in my cmd it said the disk is FAT32 format. I tried to convert my C: drive from FAT32 to NTFS by using convert c: /FS:NTFS but when I tried this it told me to locate my C: drive. I tried to type C: and Bootcamp but couldn't really get past it.   • Recommended CPU upgrade for Dell Vostro 220 with Intel E7300 processor?

    I've got a Dell Vostro 220 with an E7300 processor (Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.66Mhz, LGA775 socket) and I'm thinking about upgrading my processor so I can run Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V, which requires Hardware Virtualization support in the processor. Yes, I know this is underpowered for a server, I'm actually using it as a desktop machine but I'd like to use Hyper-V instead of Virtual Server (which I'm using now for running VMs). I'd like to keep the same motherboard and ideally the same CPU fan and RAM too. Any suggestions for a good, relatively cheap (under $200) processor upgrade?

  • Disk Response Time in Windows 7 Resource Monitor?

    In the resource monitor I'am looking at the disk response time. There are a lot of processes where the response time is thousands of milliseconds consistently, I'm pretty sure this is the source of my computer slowing down. I'm not sure what normal response times are though? I'm running win 7 64bit ultimate. This is running on a new computer, i5 with a terabyte drive, 4gigs of ram, etc, disk is still pretty much empty, so it should all be pretty snappy. And if it is going really slow, how do I track down whats causing it? I've turned off things like real time virus protection as experiments to see if there is something weird there, but makes no real difference (other than it doesn't contribute to the problem by accessing the disk)

So far I have tried to ¨fixboot¨ and ¨chkdsk¨ from a recovery console on the affected windows partition (/dev/sda1), the plug off power cord for 15 seconds trick, reinstalling GRUB, repairing the MFT and boot sector of the affected partition via testdisk, what next please ?   • OS X "service" for running JavaScript bookmarklets from anywhere?

    I have some JavaScript bookmarklets that work on the selected text in a web page, but I'd like to be able to use them on the selected text in any Mac OS X app, not just browsers or things that provide browser-like views. Mac OS X has the "Services" (sub)menu where any app can publish services that it can provide to other apps, but I don't know how to make my bookmarklets show up as services there. Is there a way to make JavaScript bookmarklets show up as Mac OS X "Services", or otherwise execute JavaScript against the selected text in any Mac OS X app?

  • Reconnect feature in Jdownloader for BSNL broadband

    Hi, I recently downloaded JDownloader for downloading from RS. But clicking the Reconnect icon in toolbar gives the error, "Reconnect failed. Please try manual reconnect". :( In the reconnection settings, there is an entry for Router's IP. and the rest(User,pwd, Reconnection script) are blank. I having BSNL dataone broadband connection in Bangalore. I connect to internet just by turning on the modem and no user name and password is required. How can i allow Reconnection feature in JDownloader.? If a reconnection script is required how to write the script.? Badly in need of this. Thanks in advance.

  • Google Chrome Interferes with Copy and Paste in Excel

    I have got a following problem: Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) function in Excel 2010 does not work (or acts weirdly) is I have Google Chrome opened at the same time. This issue is Excel-specific meaning that in Word or Powerpoint copy/paste works fine. It is also Chrome- and CoolNovo-specific as the copy/paste in Excel does not interfere with other internet browsers. Any suggestions? Cheers, Dan

    Hi guys, We have an old Dell Inspiron laptop we don't use anymore and would look to turn it onto a media/backup server for music/pictures - and maybe documents/code. The laptop only has 40Gb of HD space but we can hook to it a USB external HD with an additional 80Gb. This is a very general question: - What OS should I put on it (more like, what flavor of Linux)? - What media/backup server software should I install on top of that? - How would you go about backing up to it? I need to back up computers on the same LAN, some have Windows, some OS X, some Linux. If you could point me to an all-in-one solution with a nice tutorial for non-sysadmin folks it would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!!

    I am looking for application which I can install on Ubuntu server and put my photos there. It can be by web interface, it can be by mounted samba disk. What I require: Ability to add tags to photos. Ability to move photos. I.e. if I set photos directory to /home/photos, but then I want to move all photos to e.g. /home/common/photos - I don't want to lose all the tags. I used to use FSpot and it was great, but it lacked point 2, and I lost everything :(

  • Can Acer Aspire Revo (Atom 330) be used with two monitor dispaly?

    I'm so attracted to Acer Revo for the price & the look. As long as I can work on two monitors simultaneously, I'll be happy. Not planning to do heavy video editing or gaming. Occasional movie streaming would be fine. Will mainly use it to do trading, lots of word processing, some photo editing, connecting with friends. Anyone has experience using Revo with 2 or more monitors? The spec says it has VGA and HDMI output but Acer sales person over the phone told me it can support one monitor only..??

  • Two Routers - 1 Port Straight to First Router

    At my house we have two Wifi routers one's connected directly to the modem and the other is plugged in down stairs as a second network(Directly connected to the first router) Is there a way that I could make it so that I have the second router have its own network, but have one or two ports that would act as if they were directly connected to the first router? That way I can port forward to devices on the second router. Here are the information about the routers: Router 1 - Linksys WRT54G Running stock firmware Router 2 - Linksys E900 Running Tomato Firmware So to summarize what I'm asking is how would I have two networks from two routers but be able to connect directly to the first router through one of the ports on the second router.   • Windows 8.1 - Won't boot (0xc000000f), bcdedit fails

    I’m pretty much stuck at this point. So, backstory: Windows was installed on one of the SSDs currently in my tower. I bought a new SSD to install Windows (8.1 64 bit) on. Windows installation went fine, booted up, and formatted the old SSD from within Windows (this seems to have been a mistake, but I didn’t realize that at the time). Despite formatting the old SSD, whenever I tried to boot I was told that there were 2 Windows installations. Apparently, when I formatted the old drive, not all of the partitions were removed. So, I booted up with the repair utility, went into cmd, and deleted the non-primary partitions on the old SSD (there were 2 – think they were system and recovery, although I’m forgetting now). Reboot – computer won’t boot. Getting the 0xc000000f “The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible” error. Troubleshooting so far: Automatic repair doesn’t fix anything (I’ve never had luck with it though) If I go to install a new version of Windows, the drives and partitions are all there. The SSD is functioning, I at least know that. I’ve essentially gone through this guide: https://neosmart.net/wiki/recovering-windows-bootloader/ Unfortunately, I’m not getting anywhere. I’m not even entirely sure how to describe the errors I’m getting, so I’ve just included pictures of every step (I can't actually post them though so I just included a photobucket link). http://s319.photobucket.com/user/DGalt11/library/Computer%20Issue Am I completely screwed here (i.e. reformat and reinstall?)?   • iPod Touch G4 disconnects from Belkin N+ Router at random intervals

    I have an iPod Touch G4 and a Belkin N+ Router F5D8235-4 v2, and for some reason the iPod Touch disconnects from the router at random intervals. Checking the settings in the iPod, it will read that it is still connected to the router, but before I can access the internet again, I have to turn on Airplane mode and then turn it off again to get any program to work with the Internet again. I've tried upgrading the firmware in the router, but that also doesn't seem to help. I'm using the wiresless mode 802.11b&802.11g&802.11n in the 20/40MHz frequency. Is there any way of fixing this issue? It doesn't happen with any of the other devices that are connected to the router. This post has been cross-posted here
