• Streaming files from EventMachine handler?

  I am creating a streaming eventmachine server. I'm concerned about avoiding blocking IO or doing anything else to muck up the event loop. From what I've read, ruby's non-blocking IO can be used to stream files in a non-blocking way, or I can call next_tick, but I'm a little unclear about which of these approaches is preferable. Part of the problem is that I have not found a good explanation of non-blocking IO library functions in ruby. Short version: Assuming a long-lived network IO operation, several wall clock minutes of streaming per file, transfer, what is the best way to do this in eventmachine without gumming up the event loop? while 1 do file.read do |bytes| @conn.send_data bytes end end I understand that the above code will block and I'm wondering what to put in its place. Also, I cannot use the FileStreamer class that is part of eventmachine as is, because I need to manipulate the data after it's read but before it's sent. Thanks, Noah

• ASP.NET Nested Repeater Accessing elements

  I have a list of Accommodation objects bound to a Repeater, and then a nested Repeater which has the various attendee groups listed [e.g. Default, Seniors, Juniors]. This is all output fine, with the values displayed as LinkButtons, which when clicked gets sent to a code-behind event handler. Here is an example of the output to give you a picture [with some er... interesting attendee group names]: In the event handler, I test the object parameter to see which Repeater has been sent, as the outer repeater's links can also be clicked [so the Accommodation would be set, but no Attendee Group]. Is there a way to get a HiddenField from the outer RepeaterItem that contains the currently clicked inner repeater's LinkButton? E.g. From the image, I click the Attending link in the Women section. So the EventArgs via FindControl can get me the hidden field which contains the Attendee Group's ID, which is good, but I also need the Accommodation ID [to know whether it was either Wimbledon Hotel Inn or New Acc]

• Safari Jquery Dialog and Ckeditor

  Hi I am using a CKEditor in a Jquery Dialog... and in Safari the first time it loads it works but each subsequent time it is blank and no buttons or anything else works in the ckeditor... • Unique element ID, even if element doesn't have one

  I'm writing a GreaseMonkey script where I'm iterating through a bunch of elements. For each element, I need a string ID that I can use to reference that element later. The element itself doesn't have an id attribute, and I can't modify the original document to give it one (although I can make DOM changes in my script). I can't store the references in my script because when I need them, the GreaseMonkey script itself will have gone out of scope. Is there some way to get at an "internal" ID that the browser uses, for example? A Firefox-only solution is fine; a cross-browser solution that could be applied in other scenarios would be awesome. Edit: If the GreaseMonkey script is out of scope, how are you referencing the elements later? They GreaseMonkey script is adding events to DOM objects. I can't store the references in an array or some other similar mechanism because when the event fires, the array will be gone because the GreaseMonkey script will have gone out of scope. So the event needs some way to know about the element reference that the script had when the event was attached. And the element in question is not the one to which it is attached. Can't you just use a custom property on the element? Yes, but the problem is on the lookup. I'd have to resort to iterating through all the elements looking for the one that has that custom property set to the desired id. That would work, sure, but in large documents it could be very time consuming. I'm looking for something where the browser can do the lookup grunt work. Wait, can you or can you not modify the document? I can't modify the source document, but I can make DOM changes in the script. I'll clarify in the question. Can you not use closures? Closuses did turn out to work, although I initially thought they wouldn't. See my later post. It sounds like the answer to the question: "Is there some internal browser ID I could use?" is "No."

  When creating an WPF application with the MVVM pattern, it seems I have to gather the necessary tools myself to even begin the most rudimentary event handling, e.g. AttachedBehaviors I get from here DelegateCommands I get from here Now I'm looking for some way to handle the ItemSelected event in a ComboBox and am getting suggestions of tricks and workarounds to do this (using a XAML trigger or have other elements bound to the selected item, etc.). Ok, I can go down this road, but it seems to be reinventing the wheel. It would be nice to just have an ItemSelected command that I can handle in my ViewModel. Am I missing some set of standard tools or is everyone doing MVVM with WPF basically building and putting together their own collection of tools just so they can do the simplest plumbing tasks with events and commands, things that take only a couple lines in code-behind with a Click="eventHandler"?

  I've read the docs, but I must be missing something. I've got a grid, I want to connect to the event that fires when the column headers are clicked for sorting, thus: dojo.addOnLoad(function(){ var grid = dijit.byId("grid"); dojo.connect(grid, "setSortInfo", 'afterSort'); }); function afterSort() { console.info('after sort'); } That works fine as far as it goes. I know the setSortInfo method has an argument which is the column number. How do I get that value? I've tried putting a parameter in the sig for afterSort to no avail. The docs say "the method receives the same arguments as the event", but where are they???

• How to draw a rectangle in WinForm app in the correct location

  I have a WinForm app that has an image displayed in a PictureBox that has the added functionality of allowing a user to draw a rectangle on the image by clicking and dragging. The Location, Height and Width of the rectangle are saved to disk. When the image is viewed again I would like to automatically redraw that rectangle in the same position on the image. When I redraw it, however, the Height and Width are fine but the location is always off. The location is being captured in the MouseDown Event like so private void pbSample_MouseDown(object Sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (SelectMode) { StartLocation.X = e.X; StartLocation.Y = e.Y; //later on these are saved as the location of the rectangle } } And I am redrawing it like so public void DrawSelectedArea(Rectangle rect) { Graphics g = this.PictureBox1.CreateGraphics(); Pen p = new Pen(Brushes.Black); g.DrawRectangle(p, rect); } Given the location from the MouseEventArgs captured during the MouseDown Event how can I calculate the correct location to redraw my rectangle?

• problem processing xml in flex3

  Hi All, First time here asking a question and still learning on how to format things better... so sorry about the format as it does not look too well. I have started learning flex and picked up a book and tried to follow the examples in it. However, I got stuck with a problem. I have a jsp page which returns xml which basically have a list of products. I am trying to parse this xml, in other words go through products, and create Objects for each product node and store them in an ArrayCollection. The problem I believe I am having is I am not using the right way of navigating through xml. • Utilise Surv object in ggplot or lattice

  Anyone know how to take advantage of ggplot or lattice in doing survival analysis? It would be nice to do trellis/facet like survival graphs. So in the end I played around and sort of found a solution for a kaplan meier plot. Apologize for the messy code in taking the list elements into a dataframe, but I couldnt figure out another way. Note: It only works with two levels of stratum.   In short, I want to detect a touch on the navigation controller titlebar, but having trouble actually catching any touches at all! Everything is done without IB, if that makes a difference. My app delegate's .m file contains: MyViewController *viewController = [[MyViewController alloc] init]; navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:viewController]; [window addSubview:navigationController.view]; There are a few other subviews added to this window in a way that overlays navigationController leaving only the navigation bar visible. MyViewController is a subclass of UIViewController and its .m file contains: - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { for (UITouch *touch in touches) { NSLog(@"ended\n"); } } -(void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { for (UITouch *touch in touches) { NSLog(@"began\n"); } } I also tried putting these functions directly into app delegate's .m file, but the console remains blank. I do not see any reason why it should ever hang?

  Hi, A mortgage page on our website is accesible by multiple links on one page. In order to determine which of the links on that same page has been clicked on, I use event tracking. All events for these links are being stored under the category: "mortgage" When I look at the total number of pageviews for this mortgage page and the total number of events for the event category "mortgage", the number of pageviews is 10%-20% higher. • Adobe Reader process fails when starting second instance

  In our C# WinForms application, we generate PDF files and launch Adobe Reader (or whatever the default system .pdf handler is) via the Process class. Since our PDF files can be large (approx 200K), we handle the Exited event to then clean up the temp file afterwards. The system works as required when a file is opened and then closed again. However, when a second file is opened (before closing Adobe Reader) the second process immediately exits (since Reader is now using it's MDI powers) and in our Exited handler our File.Delete call should fail because it's locked by the now joined Adobe process. However, in Reader we instead get: There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found. The unusual thing is that if I put a debugger breakpoint before the file deletion and allow it to attempt (and fail) the deletion, then the system behaves as expected! I'm positive that the file exists and fairly positive that all handles/file streams to the file are closed before starting the process. When I set it in the windowApplication, I get null errors in child controls so I tried to set this.menu = myMainMenu (which is my flexnativemenu) in the creation complete event but the menu doesn't show up... I tried to show an alert message before setting the menu and the menu appeared in the application. Is there a method I can call to force the application to "redraw" itself in the creationComplete event??? Thanks!

• How do I pass a variable number of parameters along with a callback function?

All of this is needed to do this in a cross-browser way. Until now, my project only had to lazy-load Sizzle at one point in the script, so I was able to just hard-code the gather_content() function call into the load_sizzle() function. However, I now need to lazy-load Sizzle at two different points in the script, and call a different function either time once it's loaded. How can I modify my function so that I can specify a variable number of parameters, to be passed with the callback function? Or, am I going about this the wrong way? Ultimately, I just want to load Sizzle, then call any function that I need to (with any arguments that it needs) once it's done loading. Thanks for any help!

But i nned to find the ID at the server side . Question 2 : I have a radcombobox to a radgrid and am attaching a client event on itemdatabound for ex discCombo.OnClientLoad = "LoaderDisc" I need to find a way to an argument to this method say an id of another control ?.How do i pass my arguments to the combobox client event ?
