• Glassfish: Defining Custom JNDI Names for Session Beans

  Background: Want to use GF3 in development, where as actual SIT, UAT, and production is using WAS. Problem: With the remote session beans everything is good to go, as GF3 gives a non-standard JNDI name, which is same as what WAS suggests, i.e. an absolute class name. Now for the local session beans WAS use the same absolute class name but with the prefix, i.e. ejblocal:. Whereas GF3 doesn't give any non-standard JNDI name for local session beans. GF3 came up with only portable name, java:global/..I need to find a way so I can use the same names for both. I am using EJB 3.0, WAS 7.9, and Glassfish 3. Don't have any xml confiuration for ejbs. Using Spring to inject the bean in Struts2 actions. With remote interfaces both servers are okay and agreed on a single convention, but for locals they differ. Is there any solution for this? Or just sun-ejb-jar.xml will solve it? Thanks.

• Permission denied (maybe missing INTERNET permission) when calling web service

  I'm trying to use .net SOAP web service with ksoap2 lib. Example from http://www.vimeo.com/9633556 shows how to do it correct. Below the code from that example. everything shoud work ok, but when I try to do a call inself (httpTransport.call) I get "Permission denied (maybe missing INTERNET permission)" exception. Moreover, I don't see in the Application info window among permissions the internet permission alert. Tried this on emulator and Google phone. Will be very appreciated if somebody could help with it. • Find first item inside angular brackets after occurrence of other item, using RegEx, in C#

  I have an xml-like text, in which I would like to find the item that occurs in the first occurrence of a certain pattern: typically: ... <PropertyGroup><name>true</name></PropertyGroup><PropertyGroup>.... .... Could also be ... <PropertyGroup> <name> true</name> </PropertyGroup> ... <PropertyGroup> ... In the above, I need to extract the "name". My initial assumption was that all occurrences were to be in one line, and I wrote my code using string properties, but it is very difficult o take in consideration every possibility, and only RegEx can save me. I just don't know how to write it... I Have started with something like this: Regex regex = new Regex("(?<=<PropertyGroup>#)<+"); Match matches = regex.Matches(Text)[0]; MessageBox.Show(matches.ToString()); I think this finds the first item after a <PropertyGroup>, but I don't know how to make it get the item within the angular brackets... (which may be after one or more newlines, and/or spaces). I know that there are utilities for parsing xml, but I am looking for something simple to insert in a c# program Can someone please help me ? I am posting an xml query from Fiddler and i receive the result without any problem. BUT i have done an integration test for the same interface, i send the same objects and i put the response like: final MultipartOutput multiPartOutput = getClient().query(getUserRestAuth(), 0, 25, null, null, null, instanceQuery); But here, so from integration tests, i receive a strange error: Unable to find a MessageBodyReader of content-type multipart/mixed;boundary="74c5b6b4-e820-452d-abea-4c56ffb514bb" and type class org.jboss.resteasy.plugins.providers.multipart.MultipartOutput Anyone has any ideea why only in integration tests i receive this error? PS: Some of you will say that i do not send application/xml as ContentType but multipart, which of course is false because the objects are annotated with the required @XmlRootElement etc, otherways neither the POST from Fiddler would work.

  I asked on SO a few days ago what was the simplest quickest way to build a wrapper around a recently completed database. I took the advice and used sqlmetal to build linq classes around my database design. Now I am having two problems. One, I don't know LINQ. And, two, I have been shocked to realize how hard it is to learn. I have a book on LINQ (Linq In Action by Manning) and it has helped some but at the end of the day it is going to take me a couple of weeks to get traction and I need to make some progress on my project today. I have a console app. The main table is the SupplyModel table. Most of the other tables are child tables of the SupplyModel table. I want to iterate through each of Supply Model records. I want to grab the data for a supply model and then DoStuff with the data. And I also need to iterate through the child records, for each supply model, for example the NumberedInventories and DoStuff with that as well. I need help doing this in VB rather than C# if possible. I am not looking for the whole solution...if you can supply a couple of code-snippets to get me on my way that would be great.   Suppose my Tomcat webapps directory looks like this: webapps/ webapps/fooapp/ webapps/fooapp/WEB-INF/ webapps/fooapp/WEB-INF/web.xml webapps/fooapp/bardir/ When I make a GET request for /fooapp/bardir, Tomcat sees that webapps/fooapp/bardir is a directory and sends back a 302 to /fooapp/bardir/ (with a slash at the end). Here is my question: Where in the Tomcat source code does this take place? (I'm looking at 6.0.x but a correct answer for any version would be a great starting point.) The only reference material I can find on this subject is in the Catalina Functional Specifications which states, regarding the Default Servlet: On each HTTP GET request processed by this servlet, the following processing shall be performed: [...] If the requested resource is a directory: If the request path does not end with "/", redirect to a corresponding path with "/" appended so that relative references in welcome files are resolved correctly. However, this functionality does not appear to be in org.apache.catalina.servlets.DefaultServlet; or at least, it's not there exclusively: if I replace the default servlet in web.xml with a servlet whose servlet-class does not exist, directory paths still come back 302 to add the slash, while every other request comes back with an error as expected.

  I've got a search form on this page: http://staging-checkpointtracker.aptanacloud.com/events If you select a State from the dropdown you get zero results because you didn't select one or more Event Division (checkboxes). What I want is to default the checkboxes to "checked" when the page first loads...to display Events in all Divisions...but I want changes made by the user to be reflected when they filter. • Lazy non-modifiable list in Google Collections

  I was looking for a decent implementation of a generic lazy non-modifiable list implementation to wrap my search result entries. The unmodifiable part of the task is easy as it can be achieved by Collections.unmodifiableList() so I only need to sort out the the lazy part. Surprisingly, google-collections doesn't have anything to offer; while LazyList from Apache Commons Collections does not support generics. I have found an attempt to build something on top of google-collections but it seems to be incomplete (e.g. does not support size()), outdated (does not compile with 1.0 final) and requiring some external classes, but could be used as a good starting point to build my own class. Is anybody aware of any good implementation of a LazyList? If not, which option do you think is better: write my own implementation, based on google-collections ForwardingList, similar to what Peter Maas did; write my own wrapper around Commons Collections LazyList (the wrapper would only add generics so I don't have to cast everywhere but only in the wrapper itself); just write something on top of java.util.AbstractList; Any other suggestions are welcome.

• Visual C++ Assembly link library troubles

  Hi. I'm having a problem having my projects built in VC++ Express 2008... I'm using a library, irvine32.inc/lib. INCLUDE Irvine32.inc works for me at school (On already configured VS environments) by default, but at home (Windows 7 x64) I'm having a boatload of issues. My original post here was that a file that irvine32.inc referenced, in the same folder, 'could not be opened.' Added irvine folder to the include path for specific project, progress. Then I was getting an error with mt.exe, but a suggestion on the MSDN suggested turn off antivirus, and now project does build but when I run a program that does NOT reference anything in irvine32, it tells me repeatedly that my project has triggered a breakpoint, and allows me to continue or break. Continue just pops the same window, break loads another popup telling me that "No symbols are loaded for any call stack frame. Source code cannot be displayed." This popup lets me view the disassembly. I tested it with and without working statements, it just throws the same breakpoint on the first line of code. Now, if I run the program when it DOES require something from the include file, in this case, DumpRegs: INCLUDE Irvine32.inc .data .code main PROC mov ebx,1000h mov eax,1000h add eax,ebx call DumpRegs main ENDP END main This gives me 1main.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _DumpRegs@0 referenced in function _main@0 1C:\Users\Cameron\csis165\Lab8_CCarroll\Debug\Lab8_CCarroll.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals This does NOT happen when I build a project from the book author's examples, which has the same include statement. I'm baffled. :(

I have configured a bean which I intend to use as a factory bean. <bean id="jsServicesFactory" class="x.y.z.JSServicesFactory" /> It is a very basic class - which has 4 getter methods. When I start my server in RAD, this all works perfectly. • Kerberos and/or other authentication systems - One time logon for all PHP scripts

  I'm managing a set of web apps, almost exclusively written in PHP, and would like to find an authentication platform to build a role-based authorization system on top of. Also, I'd like the authentication system to be extensible to use for, for example, system services (SSH, etc.) Here are some of the main characteristics I'm looking for, in order of importance: Easy PHP implementation (storing/reading easily roles, etc.). Redundant, if possible. If an auth system goes down everyone is not locked out. Has clients for Windows and Mac. Easy web-based administration (adding/removing users/roles, changing passwords). If not, I can build an administration system without too much effort. One-time log on. I'd also like, when an auth token is issued, to store the user's IP address and use that to authorize the user for some non web-based applications. For that reason, I'd like a desktop client to issue the token and revoke tokens when, for example, the user becomes idle at their workstation. I'm thinking Kerberos might be a solution, but what are other options?

  Hello. I'm trying to figure out if there is an easy way to do the following short of adding to_i method to TrueClass/FalseClass. Here is a dilemma: I have a boolean field in my rails app - that is obviously stored as Tinyint in mysql. However - I need to generate xml based of the data in mysql and send it to customer - there SOAP service requires the field in question to have 0 or 1 as the value of this field. So at the time of the xml generation I need to convert my False to 0 and my True to 1 ( which is how they are stored in the DB). Since True & False lack to_i method I could write some if statement that generate either 1 or 0 depending on true/false state. However I have about 10 of these indicators and creating and if/else for each is not very DRY. So what you recommend I do? Or I could add a to_i method to the True / False class. But I'm not sure where should I scope it in my rails app? Just inside this particular model or somewhere else?

• Android: forward search queries to one single activity that handles search

  I have an activity handling search (ACTIVITY_1), which works perfectly when I use the search (via SEARCH button on the phone) within/from this activity. Why does it recreate my ACTIVITY_2 when it is already there and doesn't go to onNewIntent directly? Is there another way I can forward search queries directly to ACTIVITY_1? For example via a setting in the Manifest.xml Is it possible to generally forward all search queries automatically to ACTIVITY_1 without even implementing onNewIntent in all the other activities? • Blocking on DBCP connection pool (open and close connnection). Is database connection pooling in OpenEJB pluggable?

  We use OpenEJB on Tomcat (used to run on JBoss, Weblogic, etc.). While running load tests we experience significant performance problems with handling JMS messages (queues). Problem was localized to blocking on database connection pool getting or releasing connection to the pool. Blocking prevented concurrent MDB instances (threads) from running hence performance suffered 10-fold and worse. The same code used to run on application servers (with their respective connection pool implementations) with no blocking at all. Example of thread blocked: Name: JMS Resource Adapter-worker-23 State: BLOCKED on org.apache.commons.pool.impl.GenericObjectPool@1ea6b4a owned by: JMS Resource Adapter-worker-19 Total blocked: 18,426 Total waited: 0 Stack trace: org.apache.commons.pool.impl.GenericObjectPool.returnObject(GenericObjectPool.java:916) org.apache.commons.dbcp.PoolableConnection.close(PoolableConnection.java:91) - locked org.apache.commons.dbcp.PoolableConnection@1bcba8 org.apache.commons.dbcp.managed.ManagedConnection.close(ManagedConnection.java:147) com.xxxxx.persistence.DbHelper.closeConnection(DbHelper.java:290) .... Couple of questions. I am almost certain that some transactional attributes and properties contribute to this blocking, but MDBs are defined as non-transactional (we use both annotations and ejb-jar.xml). Some EJBs do use container-managed transactions though (and we can observe blocking there as well). Are there any DBCP configurations that may fix blocking? Is DBCP connection pool implementation replaceable in OpenEJB? How easy (difficult) to replace it with another library? • Visual Studio 2008 "Save File As" Dialog Intermittent Issue

  Me and a few of my coworkers are experiencing an odd issue in Visual Studio 2008 and Windows 7 (64-bit). We use VSS6 for our source control (unfortunately). We have an issue where we will make a change to a checked-out file, resulting in the file getting checked out as expected. But when we go to build the project, or try to save the file, it will often (but not always) prompt us with the "Save File As" dialog, as if VS thinks the file is checked-in (and thus has the read-only flag set). However, all we have to do is cancel out of the dialog and save or build again, and it will always work the second time, without prompting the save as dialog. Or, we can go through with the save as, leaving the name the same, and it will work. It's as if the source control status in VS2008 hasn't caught up w/ VSS (even though we VS2008 was the app that checked the file out). This is similar to the discussion on this thread, but it's not an issue of permissions or running as administrator, 1) because it resolves itself on second attempt, and 2) we're already running VS as administrator. • Initialize webservice WSDL at runtime using Flex and Mate framework

  I am developing a Flex application on top of Mate framework. In this application, I am using a webservice to retrieve data. As this webservice as not a fix location URL (depending on where customers installed it), I define this URL in a config file. When the Flex application starts, it first reads this config file, then I would like to use the value I found to initialize the webservice. But currently, I have no idea how to this. • Best practices for Java logging from multiple threads?

  I want to have a diagnostic log that is produced by several tasks managing data. These tasks may be in multiple threads. Each task needs to write an element (possibly with subelements) to the log; get in and get out quickly. If this were a single-task situation I'd use XMLStreamWriter as it seems like the best match for simplicity/functionality without having to hold a ballooning XML document in memory. But it's not a single-task situation, and I'm not sure how to best make sure this is "threadsafe", where "threadsafe" in this application means that each log element should be written to the log correctly and serially (one after the other and not interleaved in any way). Any suggestions? I have a vague intuition that the way to go is to use a queue of log elements (with each one able to be produced quickly: my application is busy doing real work that's performance-sensitive), and have a separate thread which handles the log elements and sends them to a file so the logging doesn't interrupt the producers. The logging doesn't necessarily have to be XML, but I do want it to be structured and machine-readable. edit: I put "threadsafe" in quotes. Log4j seems to be the obvious choice (new to me but old to the community), why reinvent the wheel...

• Why does ActiveMQ hold messages that should be deleted from Topic?

  I use ActiveMQ as Notification System(Pub/Sub model). On server: if any changes of data occur, Server send this updated data (File) to Topic using BlobMessages. There are few Clients, that subscribe on this Topic and get updated File if it exsist in Topic.
