• Attaching a List of Value [LOV] to an existing page item in APEX

  I'm pretty new to APEX ( well, just started using it ~an hour ago), and I'm stuck at a pretty basic level. I've created a simple form with all the required fields. I've created a simple LOV. I can't seem to figure out how to Attach the LOV to the existing item. I tried to attach the LOV by heading over to the item's property and selecting the LOV I created, but it just doesn't seem to attach. Is this a bug with APEX or am I doing something wrong ? I'm using APEX 4.0 EA 2 [ http://tryapexnow.com ]

  I'm struggling to set connect a Java program to MySQL using JPA/Hibernate.   Hi, I have a data structure which is as given below: class File { public string Value { get; set; } public File[] Dependencies { get; set; } public bool Change { get; private set; } public File(string value,File[] dependencies) { Value = value; Dependencies = dependencies; Change = false; } } Basically, this data structure follows a typical build execution of files. Each File has a value and a list of dependencies which is again of type File. Every file is exposed with a property called Change which tells whether the file is changed or not. I brainstormed to form a algorithm which goes through all these files and build in an order( i.e typical build process ) but haven't got a better algorithm. Can anyone throw some light on this? • Looking for an HQL builder (Hibernate Query Language)

  I'm looking for a builder for HQL in Java. I want to get rid of things like: StringBuilder builder = new StringBuilder() .append("select stock from ") .append( Stock.class.getName() ) .append( " as stock where stock.id = ") .append( id ); I'd rather have something like: HqlBuilder builder = new HqlBuilder() .select( "stock" ) .from( Stock.class.getName() ).as( "stock" ) .where( "stock.id" ).equals( id ); I googled a bit, and I couldn't find one. I wrote a quick & dumb HqlBuilder that suits my needs for now, but I'd love to find one that has more users and tests than me alone. Note: I'd like to be able to do things like this and more, which I failed to do with the Criteria API: select stock from com.something.Stock as stock, com.something.Bonus as bonus where stock.someValue = bonus.id ie. select all stocks whose property someValue points to any bonus from the Bonus table. I'm running them on application setup like this, but I would also like to check on application startup that the migrations are up to date, and provide the option to migrate to latest. How do I tell if there are available migrations that need to be applied?   Hello, At moment my main layout consists of vertically oriented stack panel and it looks like this: Root StackPanel StackPanel - fixed Height 150 (horizontal orientation) StackPanel - relative Height must be behalf of free space left on screen (but at least 150 px). Used by Telerik GridView Control, if I don't specify Height or MaxHeight Telerik GridView Height becomes very large and does not fit my window. StackPanel - fixed Height 100 (horizontal orientation) StackPanel - relative Height must be half of free space left on screen (but at least 150 px). Used by Telerik GridView Control, if I don't specify Height or MaxHeight Telerik GridView Height becomes very large and does not fit my window. StackPanel - fixed Height 100 (horizontal orientation) The view must totally fit available screen size. The problem is that I don't understand how to make certain areas of my view resize depending on available screen size. Is there is easy way to solve it, or should I be binding to Window height property and doing math? Thank You very much!

• Flash CS5 and dynamic textfields

  I have a "shell" that started life in Flash CS3 (Flash 9, AS3) that has been since used with CS4 and now CS5. It creates TextFields in ActionScript for display (reading the content of those fields from XML). The text fields are either Myriad Pro Regular or Myriad Pro Semibold, both are embedded in the SWF from the Library (any given text field will only use one of those fonts) and using Advanced anti-aliasing. Once a FLA goes into CS5 is still has the same problem when saved back into CS4. The problem is the spacing between letters are now quite random, and the width of each text field is too wide (by about 10%). Changing the letterSpacing property (to something negative) makes this more noticeable. I read on here about Font.registerFont(MyriadPro) but that doesn't seem to be doing anything. Does anyone know how to make CS5 behave like previous versions of Flash? I'm using Flash Professional on Snow Leopard (as part of CS5 Web Premium).

• What's the easiest way to sort an EF4 EntityCollection<T>?

  I'd love to add some sorting to an EntityCollection that is bound to an ItemsControl (in xaml). I'd also like to do it as simply as possible. It appears that this is not possible. If I wrap the collection in a "sorted" version of the collection property within the Entity I lose collection change notifications. I can't use a CollectionViewSource because the entity collection's BindingListCollectionView does not support sorting for some goddamned reason (note: I've seen the blog post with the "dirty" hack to get around this, so please don't answer with that kthx). Is there a simple (couple lines of xaml, couple lines of code, whatever) way to achieve this??

  Hi Guys, I have a 'dog' Entitiy with an @Id and a @TableGenerator ... @TableGenerator(table = "seq", name = "dog_gen", pkColumnName = "seq_name", valueColumnName="seq_val") @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.TABLE, generator = "dog_gen") private Long id; ... Is there a way to reuse the same table generator (dog_gen) in other entity? I want to keep the same id sequence in two independent Entities, say dog=1, dog=2, dog=3, cat=4, cat=5, dog=6 and so on... Both entities don't share a common superclass to implement some kind of inheritance with the id property. If I add the @GeneratedValue( generator="dog_gen") on my cat entity, omitting the @TableGenerator declaration throws an Exception saying it can't find the generator when starting the context. • Databinding race condition

  I have a login form (using ChildWindow) and have implemented a Keyup event handler on the passwordbox. If the key is enter then it sets the ChildWindow ResultDialog to true. What seems to be happening is the databinding on the Passwordbox is not happening before the childwindow is closed so the Password property on my Login control is null. I've tried using KeyUp and Keydown, as well as using a buttonAutoPeer to invoke a click on the Ok button. • Hashes vs Numeric id's

  When creating a web application that some how displays the display of a unique identifier for a recurring entity (videos on YouTube, or book section on a site like mine), would it be better to use a uniform length identifier like a hash or the unique key of the item in the database (1, 2, 3, etc). Besides revealing a little, what I think is immaterial, information about the internals of your app, why would using a hash be better than just using the unique id? In short: Which is better to use as a publicly displayed unique identifier - a hash value, or a unique key from the database? Edit: I'm opening up this question again because Dmitriy brought up the good point of not tying down the naming to db specific property. Will this sort of tie down prevent me from optimizing/normalizing the database in the future? The platform uses php/python with ISAM /w MySQL.

• How to Export Images from an Image List in VS2005?

  Using Visual Studio 2005, is there a way to export the images in an Image List to individual files on my PC? Using the IDE, I select the Image List and view its properties. In the "Images" property, I launch the Images Collection Editor dialog. I can only add and remove images, but I cannot find a way to export an image that is already in the list. Why? The developer who made the original list has left our company and I need the images for an ASP.NET application (will convert to .jpeg). Thank you for the help!

• Linq to SQL Error with Many-to-Many table

  I am getting the following error with linq-to-sql when I try to access a many-to-many collection: Members 'Int32 XXX' and 'Int32 YYY' both marked as IsPrimaryKey and IsDbGenerated. The statement is true, in that both of those columns are primary key integers with identity insert. The table I am trying to access has a foreign key to both YYY and ZZZ, and then ZZZ has a foreign key to XXX. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with my data structure. I tried setting "Child Property" to false on the ZZZ-YYY relationship, but it didn't change anything.

• How to use MSBuild to create ClickOnce files that match those created by Visual Studio

  I am trying to use MSBuild in a TFS Build file to create click once files for my application. According to MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms165431.aspx) it seems that the project file's click once settings should be used unless you override them with property arguments on the command line. However, even though I have specified (in VS) that some prerequisites should be bootstrapped in with the setup, they don't seem to get installed if I use the MSBuild command line to create the package, even though they do seem to get installed if I use Visual Studio to create the ClickOnce package. Please could someone advise me how to get my prerequisites to get installed via ClickOnce when the clickonce package is built using the MSBuild command line? For information, in Visual Studio, project properties, "Publish" tab, "Prerequisite" button, I have ticked "Create setup program to install prerequisite components", I have ticked my pre-requisites and I have specified "Download prerequisites from the component vendor's web site"

• displaying keyboard raises memory... but it never comes down iPhone

  Hello again. I encountered a weird behavior in memory just by displaying the default keyboard. I've just created a project with an .xib file for testing purposes. This .xib file has an UITextField element in it and it's connected in the .h via: @property(nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UITextField *sometext; The .m has no changes but: - (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [someText becomeFirstResponder]; } As you see it's very very simple. The problem is that once the keyboard is shown, the memory allocated for it NEVER goes down. I've tested this scenario in another project with the only difference of having two .xib files. Standar pushViewController and popViewController calls are made. Instruments show an increase of 600kb in memory allocations [which are a lot more in the actual iPhone device]. All in all, hehehe. My question is: How do I release the memory allocated for the keyboard?.

• MouseWheel: Scrolling vs. Zooming

  I've got a Silverlight 4 custom control that basically is several Canvas elements wrapped inside a ScrollViewer. The user can set a property to determine whether to scroll or zoom when using their mouses wheel. In the custom control's MouseWheel event, I check to see if they want to scroll or zoom. If zooming, I determine the delta and modify the custom control's zoom level (which then handles the zooming code for me). The problem is that zooming won't start until the ScrollViewer's current position of the vertical scrollbar is at the top or bottom of the scrollbar. Once their, then the zooming works perfectly. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can prevent scrolling completely so that I only zoom (when the user wants to zoom, that is)? Thanks!

• NHibernate's automatic (dirty checking) update behaviour - turning it off

  I've just discovered that if I get an object from an NHibernate session and change a property on object, NHibernate will automatically update the object on commit without me calling Session.Update(myObj)! I can see how this could be helpful, but as default behaviour it seems crazy! How can I stop this happening? Is this default NHib behaviour or something coming from Fluent NHibs AutoPersistenceModel? If there's no way to stop this, what do I do? Unless I'm missing the point this behaviour seems to create a right mess, violating my UoW. Im using NHibernate 2.0.1.4 and a Fluent NHib build from 18/3/2009 Edit, is this guy right with his answer? Edit: I've also read that overriding an Event Listener could be a solution to this. However, IDirtyCheckEventListener.OnDirtyCheck isn't called in this situation. Does anyone know which listener I need to override? Thanks Andrew

  Ok, I know that property overloading is not supported in C# - most of the references explain it by citing the single-method-different-returntype problem. However, what about setters? I'd like to directly assign a value as either a string or object, but only return as a string. Like this: public string FieldIdList { get { return fieldIdList.ToString(); } set { fieldIdList = new FieldIdList(value); } } public FieldIdList FieldIdList { set { fieldIdList = value; } } private FieldIdList fieldIdList; Why wouldn't this be allowed? I've also seen that "properties" simply create getter/setter functions on compile. Would it be possible to create my own? Something like: public void set_FieldIdList(FieldIdList value) { fieldIdList = value; } That would do the same thing. Thoughts?

• problem with IBoutlet UITableView connection

  Hi,I'm having a problem with IBoutlet UITableView connection. It seems that the IBOutlet isn't connected to the TaleView. I set the delgate and the datasource to the files owner and set the iboutlet to the tableview in the nib. The tableview is well initialized. I just want to do some reloadData and it's not working. I try to do some deselectRow just to see if it isn't reloadData problem but it doesn't deselect so i assume that the iboutlet isn't associated with my tableview. This table view is in a viewcontroller that is called as a modalViewController. • Help me with a solution for what could be solutioned by virtual static fields... in FPC

  Hi I'm doing an event manager in Freepascal Each event is an object type TEvent (=object), each kind of event must derive from this class. Events are differentiated by an integer identificator, assigned dynamically. The problem is that i want to retrieve the event id of an instance, and i can't do it well. All instances of a class(object) have a unique id = so it should be static field. All classes have a diferent id = so it should be virtual. Event ids are assignated in run time, and can change = so it can't be a simple method In sum, I can't put all this together. I'm looking for an elegant solution, i don't want to write a hardcoded table, actualizing it in every constructor... etc, i'd prefer something taking advantage of the polymorphism Can anyone help me with another technical or design solution? I remark I don't want to use class instead of object construct.(property doesn't work on objects? :(

• Use ASP.Net server control code generation from .ashx

  I'm trying to take an existing bunch of code that was previously on a full .aspx page, and do the same stuff in a .ashx handler. The code created an HtmlTable object, added rows and cells to those rows, then added that html table the .aspx's controls collection, then added it to a div that was already on the page. I am trying to keep the code in tact but instead of putting the control into a div, actually generate the html and I'll return that in a big chunk of text that can be called via AJAX client-side. HtmlTable errors out when I try to use the InnerHtml property (says it isn't supported), and when I try RenderControl, after making first a TextWriter and next an HtmlTextWriter object, I get the error that Page cannot be null. Has anyone done this before? Any suggestions?

• Sharepoint and SQL server Endpoint

  I created a LinkedServer on MS SQL Server 2005 pointing to my Active Directory. Nothing too fancy. Simple LinkedServer with ReadOnlyAdmin Account assigned to CONNECTAS Property. Then I created some storedprocedures to retreive some data from the LinkedServer. Again nothing too fancy. Just a few simple LDAP Queries. Then I created a SQL Endpoint to expose these stored procedures as Web services. Using Visual Studio 2008, everything is fine and dandy. It finds the endpoint, gets the list of the methods available and runs smoothly. Cool. But the Sharpeoint Add Web Service somehow doesn't work! It finds the WSDL file no prob. Retrieves the list of functions and parameterss n all but just simply doesn't run them! Any advice or where I should start checking?
