  • Howto use Windows Authentication with SQL Server 2008 Express on a workgroup network?

    I have two computers running SQL Server 2008 Express: c01 and c02, I setup both for remote connection using windows authentication. Worked fine for c02 but not for c01. This is the error message I'm getting: TITLE: Connect to Server Cannot connect to ACAMP001\SQLEXPRESS. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18452) For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=18452&LinkId=20476 BUTTONS: OK I don't know if I'm missing something, here is what I did: Enabled TCP/IP protocol for client from Sql Server Configuration Manager. Modified Windows firewall exceptions for respective ports. Started the Sql Browser service as a local service Added Windows user to this group: "SQLServerMSSQLUser$c01$SQLEXPRESS" From Management Studio, I added "SQLServerMSSQLUser$c01$SQLEXPRESS" to SQLEXPRESS instance's logins under security folder, and I granted sysadmin permissions to it. Restarted c01\SQLEXPRESS Restarted Sql Browser service. There is no domain here. It's only a workgroup. Please any help is appreciated, Thank you.

However, it isn't applied at all. My buttons remain normal, and I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I just want every button inside the MWindow to get a special style (and in time every textbox and so forth). How do I achieve this? One note though: It's important that the styles doesn't apply to elements outside an MWindow.

  • Automatically extracting inline XSD from WSDL into XSD file(s)

    I am using a third party Web Service whose definition and implementation are beyond my control. This web service will change in the future. The Web Service should be used to generate an XML file which contains some of the same data (represented by the same XSD types) as the Web Service plus some extra information generated by the program. My approach: create my own XSD referring to the XSD definitions of the WSDL of the called web service (This XSD also includes XSD types for the extra information obviously.) use a Java XML databinding framework (like ADB or JiXB) to generate the databinding classes from my own XSD file from step 1 use a Java SOAP framework (like Axis2 or CXF) with the same databinding framework to generate the databinding classes from the WSDL (This would enable me to use the objects retrieved by the web service directly in the generation of the XML.) The XSD types I am going to use in my own XSD file, but are defined in the WSDL, are subject to change. Whenever they change, I would like to automatically process the XSD and WSDL databinding again. (If the change is significant enough, this might trigger some development effort.(But usually not.)) My problem: In step 1 I need an XSD referring to the same types as used by the Web Service. The WSDL is referring to another WSDL, which is referring to another WSDL etc. Eventually there is an WSDL with the needed inline XSD types. As far as I know there is no way to directly reference the inline XSD types of a WSDL from an XSD. The approach I would think most viable, is to include an extra step in the automatic processing (before the databinding) that extracts the inline XSD from the WSDL into other XSD file(s). These other XSD file(s) can then be referred to by my own XSD file. Things I'd like to avoid: Manually copy pasting the inline XSD into an XSD file (I am looking for an automatic process.) Any manual steps.(Like the determining the WSDL that contains the inline types manually.(The location of that WSDL does change as well.)) Using xsd:any in my own XSD. I would like my own XSD file to be correct. Using a non-Java technology(like .NET) Huge amounts of implementation (but hints on how you would implement such an extraction are welcome anyway) PS: I found some similar questions, but they all had responses like: WTH would you want to do that? That is the reason for my rather large background story.

ALso there is no Bin folder in M.Net\Framework\v3.5.... Any help will be awesome I also did an msbuild on the project and got the same error.

  • WPF DatePicker IsEnabled property not changing appearance

    I think I have found an issue with the DatePicker in the toolkit, perhaps some of you gurus can check it out. The issue is when setting the IsEnabled property of the DatePicker. If set in XAML, it stays grey even if you set the IsEnabled to true at run time. The same goes for the other way around should it start off being enabled.   • Building a generic page "Query Analyzer" like in Asp.net with SMO

    Hello, I'm build a web page in ASP.net is supposed to work just like Query Analyzer. It has basically a textarea to input the sql command, and an Execute button. I'm using SMO to execute the command in the database, as follows: //Create object SMO Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server server = new Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server(new Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common.ServerConnection(oConn)); //To execute the command server.ConnectionContext.ExecuteNonQuery(tbx_cmd.Text); //OR myDataset = server.ConnectionContext.ExecuteWithResults(tbx_cmd.Text); The problem is that the textarea command can contain anything, from a stored procedure (with GO's statements) and any select command that return resultsets, just like Query Analyzer. But, if I have GO statements, I only can perform the query using ExecuteNonQuery method. If I use the ExecuteWithResults method, it raises errors because of the GO statements. And if I want the resultsets to be available, of course I can only use the ExecuteWithResults method. Does anybody knows how can I do to execute the same command texts at the same time? Thank you!

However, some developers feel that it is best to annotate code with metadata using xml files - others prefer annotations but would use metadata to override annotations in source code. I am writing a Java framework that uses annotations. The question is: is there a standard way to define and parse metadata from xml files. I think this is something every framework that uses annotations could benefit from but I can seem to find something like this on the Internet. Must I roll my own xml parsing/validation or has someone already done something like this?

  • Launch market place with id of an application that doesn't exist in the android market place

When I try to launch market place with id of an application say com.mybrowser.android by throwing an intent android.intent.action.VIEW with url: market://details?id=com.mybrowser.android, the market place application does launches but crashes after launch. Note: the application com.mybrowser.android doesn't exists in the market-place.   • Which ORM to use with SQL Azure?

    Just wondering what everyones thoughts on what ORM to use for SQL Azure? I'm fairly comfortable using LINQ-to-SQL and I believe it is possible to get it working with SQL Azure. However, from my understanding (correct me if I'm wrong), no further improvements will be made to Linq-to-SQL in future releases of the .NET framework? Alternatively, there is the entity framework... and further afield from the Microsoft Camp is NHibernate. Ideally, any additional suggestions made should be free or open source. I have seen Telerik's ORM but this of course, is a commercial product. I can get the definitions/benefits of each ORM myself by doing a Google search, but I was just interested in peoples opinions as to which ORM seems to work best for them (even if it is none of the above).

    I get the folowing error in my Silverlight application. But i cant figure out what control it is that is the problem. If i debug it don't break on anything in the code, it just fails in this framework callstack with only framework code. Is there any way to get more information on what part of a Silverlight app that is the problem in this case.     I am currently gathering some technology requirements for a site that will be a social network based. I don't want to re-invent the wheel so i am looking for some type of SDK or collection of tools that can provide me with a way of creating/managing a social network. I understand that no framework will probably fit my exact needs so I am also looking for a flexible/extendable framework. An example extension point would be allowing the user to provide sub networks, maybe a global network that could be sub classified as work and friends. Beyond that it would also be nice to somehow be able to import contacts from other networking sites (Facebook, Linked In, etc). My current technology suite will consist of the following: IIS 7.0 WCF Data Services SQL Server 2006 ASP.NET front end. If there is any more information you may need please let me know.

    Hey All, I want something like this: http://cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/windows-7-wireless.jpg This window is not resizable, and aligns itself above the system tray icon which it is related to. I have this: http://i.imgur.com/79FZi.png Which is resizeable, and it goes wherever it feels like. If you click the volume control in Win 7, it always pops up directly above the icon. This is ideal. I've found this reference which I think is trying to solve the same problem (can't tell though as the images are dead), http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2169006/create-a-system-tray-styled-box-in-winforms-c but I'm using WPF and I'm not sure how to get these Form objects they refer to from my Window object. This is the XAML declaration of my window atm, <Window xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008" xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006" x:Class="WirelessControl.Window1" x:Name="Window" Title="Window1" Width="260" Height="370" mc:Ignorable="d" WindowStyle="None"></Window> I feel like based on how common this is in Windows that there must be a fairly easy way to do this. For some reason Im suddenly getting the following error when building my project (sim or device), even though other projects build fine /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.1.3.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/Headers/UIKit.h:61:42: error: UIKit/UIVideoEditorController.h: No such file or directory The last thing I was trying to do was use the UIMessage framework for email, but I have stripped that out!?!? N.B I have checked and the .h file does appear to be in the same folder as the UIKit.h file

    What is the best approach for navigating between UserControls/Pages(out of browser experience)? I'm fairly new to Silverlight and even newer to the mvvm pattern. How well does the Navigation Framework Integrate with the MVVM Light Toolkit? A snippet for general application flow control with the two would be great. The plan was to use the Navigation Framework for general flow or using Jeremy Likeness's approach to region management(http://csharperimage.jeremylikness.com/search/label/regions) and swapping out regions as needed. I've seen a few places mention replacing the Visual Root, but that sounded like a hack to me. Any advice, snippets, or a nudge in the general direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi all, It is rumoured that WPF 4.0 would deliver us an out-of-the-box Office Ribbon. A new WPF Ribbon Control will be available for download shortly after the release of WPF 4. [1] Now my internet and MSDN search turned out to be fruitless, and as far as I know, it would be release after the .NET 4.0 framework would launch. My search lead me to the Office plugin ribbon controls and the CTP prereleased before the release of .net 4.0 with a limited featureset. So my question is: does anyone know if and when Microsoft will release this Office Ribbon with the framework? Or if they don't a nice press note saying that they ditched the project. Also if anyone has experience with the Ribbon I'm talking about, will this Ribbon work in a partial trusted environment? My thanks will be ever lasting! ;)

    Hi All, Here I am trying to assign the datasource (using same code given in the sample application) and create a graph, only difference is i am doing it in WPF WindowsFormsHost. due to some reason the datasource is not being assigned properly and i am not able to see the series ("Series 1") being created. wired thing is that it is working in the Windows Forms application but not in the WPF one. am i missing something and can somebody help me?
